After four years, I should have been over him.

But if that was true, why did I avoid my ex at every opportunity? Not because he did anything wrong, but because I couldn’t bear the inevitable look of disdain on his face when he saw me.

When I finally ventured into Sleepy Hollow—the new home of my ex—my best friend assured me I wouldn’t see him. “He’s working the night shift,” she promised, “so you won’t have to worry about seeing him tonight.”

If circumstances had been normal, she probably would have been right. But when our normal evening took a sinister turn and I ended up fighting off two would-be abductors, avoiding Oliver was no longer a possibility. Not when my ex was one of the responding officers called to the scene.

And when I see him… it’s even harder than I thought it would be. Because even though I screwed up our relationship beyond repair, deep down, I’ve never stopped loving him.

As I headed to the call, I told myself it was just a job.

Just because Shea was involved didn’t mean I’d do things any differently. She was a witness. A victim. It didn’t matter how our relationship ended or how much it hurt.

Except. When I saw Shea, all my instincts demanded I go to her. Not as a cop, but a man desperate to comfort her. But that’s not what she wanted—she couldn’t have made that more clear when she broke up with me.

As the start of the investigation, we had to consider it could have been a random incident. Or that any of the women there could have been the target. Just because Shea was hurt trying to protect her friends didn’t mean she was the one the kidnappers wanted.

Then Shea is attacked again, and it’s terrifying clear she’s the one in danger, bringing home another truth I can’t ignore. I still love her as much as I did four years ago. And no matter what happened between us, there’s nothing I won’t do to protect her.

Shea’s Hero is a second chance romance with a former CIA operative turned police officer hero, a heroine who doesn’t realize her strength, action and danger, forced proximity, twists and turns, and plenty of sweet and steamy moments. Can be read as a standalone novel!

Shea has an eating disorder that know one knows about. She even kept it from Oliver who is her ex boyfriend now. It's been 4 years since she's seen him and circumstances show her that he still cares even though he doesn't understand what happened. Someone is trying to kill her or are they after him . So, so ,very good and emotional . My favorite part is the mini golf course.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Shea broke up with Oliver as she was hiding a secret and too ashamed and embarrassed to tell him what was going on.
That was years ago, now she's out with friends and two men in a van with masks try to kidnap one of them. She's amazing and fights back. Oliver is now working for the police in Sleepy Hollow so he's called out. Imagine his surprise when he sees Shea, neither of them got over the other. The team at B and A rush to help, Maya is Oliver's sister.
Shea and Oliver take it slowly, she's working on telling him how she feels rather than hiding it. He's great with her, protective but supportive and not smothering.
Then other things happen. Is Shea the target after all?

Another great read in the series from Gia.

Gia Cobie delivers an electrifying blend of romance, suspense, and emotional depth in "Shea’s Hero", the fifth installment in the Heroes of Sleepy Hollow series. This second-chance romance is a page-turner, packed with tension, action, and heart-wrenching moments that left me breathless from start to finish.

The story follows Shea and her ex Oliver, a former CIA operative turned police officer, as they are thrown back together by circumstance and danger. The emotional stakes are high from the beginning, with the lingering pain of their past breakup clashing against the undeniable spark that still exists between them. Cobie does an excellent job of portraying their unresolved feelings, making their reunion feel authentic and deeply compelling.

The suspense element is well-crafted, keeping the plot moving at a brisk pace. From the first attack to the escalating threats against Shea, the danger feels real, and it adds an urgency that kept me hooked. The forced proximity trope is used beautifully here, giving the protagonists a chance to confront their feelings while dealing with life-or-death stakes.

One of the highlights is how Cobie balances the external action with the internal emotional journey. Both Shea and Oliver are flawed, resilient, and relatable characters. Shea’s quiet strength and vulnerability make her easy to root for, while her Oliver's protective nature and lingering love for her add layers to his character. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the steamy moments are perfectly placed, enhancing rather than overshadowing the emotional core of the story.

As someone who has followed the series closely, I enjoyed the familiar small-town setting and the appearances of characters from previous books. Cobie’s world-building is consistent, and it was a pleasure to return to Sleepy Hollow, a place that feels both charming and dangerous.

Overall, "Shea’s Hero" is a gripping, heartwarming, and utterly satisfying read. It’s my new favorite in the series, and I can’t wait to see what Gia Cobie writes next! Highly recommended for anyone who loves romance with a thrilling edge.

I really love second chance romances and with some suspense thrown into it, Gia gave me exactly that. She has a writing style that gets you so absorbed into the story that you can't turn the pages fast enought to see if it all ends well. In this fifth installment we get to find out if Shea and Oliver get their happy ending.

For a few years Shea and Oliver were very much in love, both wanted to share their lives together but then something happened that made Shea push Oliver away and break up with him.

Fast forward about 2 years... Oliver, who left his job as a CIA operative to become a cop in Sleepy Hollow, is called to an incident at a pub involving Shea and her friends. They were attacked and Shea was the one who fought them off and got hurt in the proces. Upon seeing each other again, old feelings resurface and both realise that the love they once felt for each other never stopped. Oliver however holds a bit of a grudge but that quickly disappears as soon as he finds out why things happened the way they did.

When it doesn't stay with that single attack and there's an escalation in threats against Shea, Oliver, together with his friends of the B&A Team and his police force, does everthing to find out who's behind it all.

Gia had me hooked from the start, I loved how we got both Shea and Oliver's view on how they went through the break up. As soon as both decided to give the relationship another go, it was beautiful to see them open up, determined to do things differently this time and build up the trust they once had in each other again.

If you love romance with some suspense thrown in then this is the book for you. I can't wait to see what Gia has got in store for us next.

Very excitingly, I got to read a beta version of this book, and now finally the ARC. I think, thus far, this is my favourite Gia Cobie novel. She has a formula for her books that just works. Sometimes formulas mean predictability, but not with these books - instead, Cobie knows what works and fashions entire series’ around it with each book rating no less than 4.5 stars from me.

Shea’s Hero is a second chance romance, which is usually my least favourite trope, but it gets knocked out of the park this time - no surprise really considering Jackson & Nora’s book was also a second chance romance and was excellent. In this instance, the reasoning behind needing a second chance was thoughtfully well done and entirely believable. Oliver is the meaning of ‘down bad’, let me tell you! But so is Shea!

I found this time round the suspense aspect of the story, whilst present all the way through, really took a back seat to the romance, but honestly it didn’t bother me in the slightest. It felt like every facet of the story got the perfect amount of attention.

I can’t wait for Jessica’s Hero later this year - that little snippet with Kane at the end has me waiting on the edge of my seat for its release.

When it's characters we know & adore, we are so invested in their happiness & pain. Shea just broke my heart yet absolutely stuns with her bravery. Loved how Oll tried to appear strong but was internally fighting with himself over Shea. You wanted to hug & encourage him. They we just too adorable & so hot together. Loved the protectiveness of every member & their bond through love & banter. Suspense definitely kept you on edge. Thoroughly enjoyed myself with this group of amazing men & women.

Super sweet second chance read! The author created a storyline that provided a high level of sensitivity to a topic that can be triggering for some but added realism to events that can come unexpectedly between people who already love each other.

This is the fifth book in the Heroes of Sleepy Hollow series. Gia Cobie never disappoints. Shea and Oliver have had little to no contact for the last few years. They broke up and Oliver never understood why. Everything changed in a hurry when Oliver and his partner are called to the Hop-less Horseman, the Blade and Arrow team's favorite place to get together. Oliver's shocked to see Shea there. All of the sudden, they are back on each other's radar. Things heat up when Shea is threatened. Oliver is going to be there for her, in spite of the fact they are no longer together. Will Shea and Oliver take advantage of the second chance they have been given? Get this book and find out. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.

Excellent story and finally Oliver’s, I just love it.
There is only one Women who can bring Oliver to his knees and its Shea. Never understanding what happened all
Those years ago an abduction brings him back to his love. Past insecurity, secrets and bad guys are all in their way toward a second chance. It is a captivating story you don’t want to put down until the end.

I wish these books weren’t so similar and that there was some sort of conflict between the fmc x mmc. They always get together way too soon and it’s too smooth. Also all the “making love” is rotting my teeth. Let one of these men say “fuck” for once in their lives.

Also; Oliver left his amazing job at the cia to be a beat cop? Fr?

Shea's Hero is the fifth book in Heroes of Sleepy Hollow series. The story is fast-paced and full of twists, with well-developed characters, secrets, and intrigue that keep the readers engaged until the end. The author masterfully balances love and intrigue, creating an emotional turmoil and a second chance, which makes the narrative unpredictable and impossible to put down. Shea's Hero expertly blends suspense, romance, and twists, making it poignant and capturing the complexity of emotions and relationships amidst danger and intrigue set against the backdrop of small-town charm.

After four years, Shea still couldn't get over her ex, Oliver. She avoided him because she knew Oliver could easily see the pain written all over her eyes. In Shea's mind, it was "easier" this way than communicating and in the process breaking both of their hearts. She moved to Sleepy Hollow, where Oliver now lives and works as a police officer, thinking they wouldn't run into each other. But when an incident happened and night turned almost deadly, they were forced to confront each other. As an investigator, Oliver's expertise is crucial to finding the people responsible for the attacks on Shea and her friends. When Oliver sees her, his protective instincts kick in and old feelings resurface. Deep down, they never stopped loving each other, even though their relationship ended badly. Oliver was stunned to learn that she needed his help and was in a potential danger. As they navigate a treacherous circumstance, Oliver must balance protecting Shea and keeping her safe while resisting the rekindled passion/feelings between them. Oliver and Shea perfectly complement each other and have strong chemistry and a real, touching, and honest connection. These two have been through a lot and need to confront their past by having open communication. The fast-paced narrative not only adds to the blossoming love story and intrigue but also enhances their growth while supporting characters add to the storyline and development of the main characters. Perfectly intertwines intrigue, twists and turns with the characters' emotional highs and lows.

Shea's Hero promises a captivating story that combines romance and suspense to create an emotionally charged experience for readers.

This book is great! I love the story of how Shea and Oliver gat back together and you will too. I highly you read this book and find out. But first I will break the book down for you a bit just to get your interest...enjoy the book, I sure did!
This book proceeds to tell us how Shea and Oliver dated and broke up over four years ago due to some personal problems that Shea has but was not ready to reveal back then. So she let this problem break them up and she has regretted it every day since. She is still very much in love with Oliver but she avoids him out of shame and not being embarrassed about how she broke up with him. Will she ever talk to him again? Will he ever forgive her? Should she even think of maybe getting a do over or second chance?
Oliver is a retired CIA operative that has loved Shea since he first laid eyes on her and will never stop loving her from afar. After he left the CIA he came to Sleepy Hollow and became a police officer. He works very closely with the Blade and Arrow team and hangs out with them often. A big group of the Blade and Arrow team from Texas came to town to hang out with the local group but he has to work tonight so he will not see them tonight but hopefully will get the chance to catch up with everyone before they have to go home.
The gang had all met at one of the local bars to have fun and catch up and everything was going great until a few of us were sitting on the patio and enjoying the evening and a van pulled up. Two men armed with guns got out and headed out way. Shea was terrified but trying to protect her friends. I ended up fighting off two would-be abductors, avoiding Oliver was no longer a possibility. Not when my ex was one of the responding officers called to the scene. So what will happen from here?

another fantastic Blade and Arrow story

Hey everyone! 🎉 I’ve got another fantastic story to share, and it’s crafted by the incredibly talented Gia Cobie! This one dives into Oliver's past, intertwined with Shea's struggles—talk about a heartfelt journey! 🌟 Oliver is that unforgettable guy in Shea's life, the one she never truly moved on from. You know the type—maybe the one who inadvertently got pushed away during a rough patch. Life can throw us some curveballs, right? But looking back, it’s clear that distancing herself from Oliver wasn't her finest hour, especially since he was the kind of friend who was always there for her, even when life got tough.

Now, here’s where it gets dramatic! After Shea is attacked at a local bar, Oliver, having transitioned from his CIA days to being a local police officer, jumps in to help. How amazing is that? 🙌 Their relationship goes through the usual relationship rollercoaster, complete with those thrilling ups and downs! And guess what? Shea faces another attack but shows incredible strength by fighting back! 💪 As they grow closer, old feelings spark anew, and Shea realizes that moving in with Oliver—her very own protector—is the smartest move she could make.

Meanwhile, the Blade and Arrow team is on the case, following an intriguing lead from an unexpected source. Talk about keeping you on the edge of your seat! 📚 Gia’s storytelling never fails to surprise, leaving you saying, “Wow, I didn’t see that twist coming!” Plus, she tackles some serious real-world issues that often get swept under the rug. It’s always such a treat to dive into one of her books, and I can’t wait for more thrilling adventures ahead! 📖✨ Highly recommend this one and the entire series! Happy reading, friends! 💖

Another original story by Gia Cobie. This one brings in Olivers past and Shea’s struggles in her past. Oliver is the guy Shea never really got over, the one that got away or in her eyes got pushed away. She was in a very bad place and at the time mentally and physically just pushed him away. Understandably so, but in hindsight not her best choice or move and Oliver though not always physically and mentally available was really her best friend and option to help.

But due to an attack on her at the local bar, Oliver who resigned from the CIA and became a local police officer responded to the attack. Things progress with both Shea and Oliver with the usual ups and downs of relationships and Shea is attacked again and once again is able to fight off her attacker. Shea and Oliver have grown close before this rekindling of the feelings that never really went away and she feels moving in with Oliver being her personal bodyguard is her best choice. Blade and Arrow is working on the case to find out who attacked her, and they have a lead which comes from an interesting source.

This is another typical Gia book where you can say,” didn’t see that one coming” and she bring to light some issues in today’s world that happen far too frequently and have that, “don’t talk about it" stigma attached to it. Always a pleasure reading one of her books look forward to many more great adventures. Highly recommend the book and the series.

This is the fifth book in the Sleepy Hollow series, and as usual, Gia never disappoints her readers.

This book reunites Shea and Oliver after a terrible breakup years ago. Shea had significant secrets and did not want Oliver to find out, so she broke up with him when he was on assignment with the CIA.

Years later, Shea finds herself in Sleepy Hollow visiting friends, and her brother Nial and sister-in-law Jade, who is Shea's best friend, are there at their local bar, the Hop-less Horseman.

Jade asks Shea if she wants to go out to the patio for a bit to talk. Jade has great news and wants to share it with Shea. Then Elle steps onto the patio, and before she says too much, there is a commotion outside, and two masked men jump out of a van and head straight for the women. Shea pushes Jade towards the door and yells at Elle to get Jade inside. She then turns to fight the men, swinging a chair at one of them. Suddenly, Nial and others come out to rescue the women.

Shea ends up with a bruise on her face from one of the attackers before they run away.

The rest of the Blade and Arrow group contacts the local police, and Shea immediately worries because Oliver gave up the CIA and now works as a police officer in Sleepy Hollow.

As Oliver and Shea get to know each other again, they realize they never stopped loving each other.

Unfortunately, danger follows, and Oliver and the Blade and Arrow team cannot figure out who is after Shea. It ends up being something from Oliver's past.

This book full of suspense and romance and is a fast and excellent read.

Started really well and some parts were really moving, but the ending was terrible.

I loved this book right up to near the end and all of a sudden it felt really rushed and badly written. Really disappointing. Shea and Oliver were previously madly in love until Shea dumped him. She never explained why and if she had they would still be together. Shea is Neil’s sister and best friends with Jade. Shea is in a night out with the B&A team and their wives and Niall and Jade when the women are attacked. Oliver who is on call is the responder and is overwhelmed when he sees Shea again as he’s never got over her. She’s never got over him either and begins to hope that they can rekindle their relationship.

When Shea explains why she ended things with Oliver, my heart broke for her, and it was really well written. As they become closer again it becomes obvious that the danger is still there and seems to be targeted at Shea.

Some parts of the book are really well written, but Shea’s health condition seems to be forgotten about after the initial explanation to Oliver. It never really explains why Oliver left the CIA, as he seemed to love it. I know he wanted to be closer to his sister Maya, but that’s not the whole reason. I really missed all the B&A characters as well as after the beginning they’re not really mentioned.

So yes it was enjoyable as a quick read but it could have been brilliant.

Another simply wonderful addition to the series, great characters and storyline to die for
I cannot express how much I thoroughly enjoyed this read from start to finish it had my attention almost from the very first page and it continued to grow and grow from then on. Shea and Oliver have not had any contact with each other for a number of years they broke up and too be honest the reason had always been a complete mystery to Oliver.
Oliver and his then partner are called to the Hop-less-Horseman and this is also the meeting place for the Blade and Arrow team and Olivers shock when he first sees Shea is palpable, they quickly seem to resume a friendship and when Shea is threatened Oliver is there to help care for her and keep her safe, no questions asked or thanks required.
As they start to spend more time together and she is also with his friends and their team it soon becomes apparent that this may be a chance at them finding what they had before, the feelings and the caring have obviously never faded.
Read this simply wonderful read it will hold you from the off and only continues to grow in momentum as time passes, I guarantee you will love Oliver and Shea forever.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Shea Walsh thought she would never see Oliver Kingston again, until an incident at the Hop-less Horseman in Sleepy Hollow. She has been living in White Plains, but was convinced to join her friends that evening. When the police were called, Oliver, now a local police officer, responded and was shocked to see Shea. He never thought he would see her again after she had broken up with him several years ago. He didn’t entirely blame her as he was working with the CIA during that time and never knew when and for how long he would be gone on an assignment. Now, his only concern is protecting Shea and with the help from Blade and Arrow Security they would make that happen. After she confides in him as to what happened years ago, is there a second chance for them? Expanding the security at her home, she once again has to defend herself from an attack and Oliver is called to the scene. Who would be coming after her and why? Does it have anything to do with his former career and has he brought trouble to the woman who he still loves? An exciting romantic suspense, with a family feeling among the characters, that made this a truly enjoyable read! The Suspense is Great, the rest- just ok.

Oliver and Shea are a sweet couple and I'm glad that they're together finally, but it was the suspense that kept me reading until the end.

The Cons I have is the dialogue between them. They are soooo insecure about each other, and it goes on ad nauseum, so much so that they come across as teens or twenty-somethings, instead of late thirty-somethings. And it gets very tiresome. I skipped the sex scene at the end because of the sugar rush. They don't come across as mature professionals questioning everything and each other constantly.

There are some TSTL moments that I assume an ex-CIA/FBI(?) agent wouldn't have let happen. And Shea came across as a little girl in some of the scenes, ie: swinging their hands and skipping when they held hands; acting really happy when she was anything but happy; holding a teddy bear when she was sick. And she's described as sweetly innocent and sheltered, but the woman on the cover doesn't fit my impression of Shea. I couldn't relate to the whole Reality TV theme either. Hate it. Sorry. I guess to each their own.

Frankly, I think Sleepy Hollow must be cursed to have that much danger and violence befall every single woman in every book! It must be a violence-to-women vortex. ;D

After not seeing each other for years, a dangerous situation has Shea and Oliver coming face to face again. But what happens when feelings that never went away start to resurface, danger keeps lurking in the shadows, and they don’t know who the target is?

Shea and Oliver’s story is one of overcoming internal struggles, finding hope, and giving love a second chance. I love the strength Shea has within herself, even if she does not see it. She’s willing to put herself in the face of danger for those she cares about and overcame a very tough internal struggle. Oliver is a sweet, supportive, charismatic man. Not only does he remind Shea how strong and brave she is, but he will also do anything to keep the woman he’s already lost once before.

Gia knows how to hook you and keep you on your toes. Just when you think the plot twists are over, she sneaks another one in but also warms your heart! The Hero’s of Sleepy Hollow are something to swoon over.

Shea and Oliver get their day (and night!)

We met Oliver in the Blade & Arrow series with Cole and Maya. Shea came into the scene with B&A Bravo team’s Niall and Jade. In this book we learn their backstory and boy is it a doozy. But it is their turn to get their HEA. And how they get there makes the story.

There are triggers in this book around eating disorders. I was impressed with how Gia dealt with Shea’s eating disorder. The causes and treatment. How far she spiraled. How she fought to come back. Where she is in her life now.

Oliver is working as a police officer for Sleepy Hollow as this point. He hasn’t seen Shea in years. An attempted kidnapping brings them back together. But the mystery becomes who is the target? And why?

As the mystery deepens and more attempts are made, Oliver and Shea make their way through the murky areas and mistakes of their past toward their future. Plenty of action to go with the heat!!

Definitely grab this latest addition from Gia Cobie. You will love immersing yourself in the world of Sleepy Hollow and the men and women who make up the families of the Blade and Arrow/Heroes of Sleepy Hollow world! 12/10 Recommend!

Shea’s Hero is the fifth book in the ‘Heroes of Sleepy Hollow’ series and is a real winner, just like the previous four books. Shea and Oliver were in love with each other and four years ago, Shea suddenly broke up with Oliver without an explanation and did not contact him. Fast forward four years and Shea has returned to Sleepy Hollow. Oliver is now a police officer and was called to the local bar when an attempted abduction was reported. Shea was the victim and fought off the attackers.

This brings Shea and Oliver back into one another’s orbit and they both still have strong feelings about the other. Oliver is determined to protect her and keep her safe, especially after a second attempt.

Shae has a secret that led to their sudden split, and she finally discloses it to him. This is a major turning point, and they understand that they are deeply in love with one another. It’s a high energy, emotional story of two people who were able to have a second chance. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Gia Cobie continues to prove why she’s one of my go-to authors with this book. Full of romance, suspense, and action, it’s everything I love in a story. The small-town vibe she captures in her books is always so inviting, and while this could definitely be read as a standalone, I enjoy catching up with the characters from previous books—it’s like reconnecting with old friends.

This time, we follow Shea and Oliver, who are thrown back together after their breakup years ago. Ms Cobie skilfully delves into the deep emotions both characters are grappling with, making their reunion feel not just believable, but compelling. Alongside their emotional journey, there’s a thrilling suspense plot that kept me turning the pages well into the night.

I can’t recommend this book enough, along with the rest of the series. If you enjoy a mix of romance and edge-of-your-seat suspense, this one’s for you. I’m already eagerly awaiting the next instalment!

The Past Isn't Always What We Thought

This is book 5 in the Heroes of Sleepy Hollow. Each books brings us deeper into this world and the characters that come alive. Each story doesn't only bring us new people to root for but loved characters and where they are at in their journey.

Oliver has made a new life for himself and has started to move forward with his past regrets. The one thing he hasn't been able to get past is Shea Walsh. The love of his life the one who got away. Shea has been closer to Oliver over the years than he could possible imagine. She never dreamed he would want to see her or even be in the same room again with her. She can't possible ask for forgiveness and understanding.

When Shea is caught in the crossfire and it seems that someone is out to get her they both find that the past can be different. The future can be reimagined. If they survive whatever is hunting her can they have the courage to try again.

Such a good story! Shea and Oliver each made mistakes. Oliver wanted to get a promotion and move up at work and that required him to travel and be away for long periods. He prioritized his work over his relationship with Shea. Shea felt insecure about her place in Oliver’s life and, seeking control over something, she developed a very serious eating disorder. When Oliver came back, she refused to see him (or let him see her) and broke up with him without really telling him why. Four years later, they meet again and the feelings are still there and the issues that tore them apart are mostly resolved. I loved that Shea put in the work to get better, counseling, diet, talking out her fears and worries rather than hiding them. And that Oliver was willing to go to counseling with Shea so both could deal with their guilt and fears. An action-packed, emotional story. VERY good read!

An emotional second chance…

I have been waiting for Oliver and Shea’s story and it was everything I’d hoped for. Lots of suspense – there’s always danger afoot in these tension-filled stories – and even more romance as their second chance was a true bumpy ride. Even though secrets kept them apart for years, I loved how their re-kindled romance was truly a mature one. Realizing that life had no guarantees they were both willing to step up and fight for a relationship. A new relationship – one with even more honesty – and even more amped up chemistry and emotion.

With a fabulous supportive cast, this was another whirlwind romance with reconciliation at the focus of their ‘all feelings on the table’ reunion. So good!

Gia Cobie gives another captivating story in this series. Her enticing writing formula gives a story that draws you into its danger, suspense, heart, and deep emotion-making it impossible to put it down. Shea and Oliver’s second chance was a beautiful journey of learning to forgive but even harder to forgive oneself. Shea’s inner struggles were dealt in a respectful and honest way. Danger brings unexpected resilience but also honest emotional toll to the characters. We see the B & A family rally to aid Shea and Oliver with humor, found family support and feet on the ground protectiveness. I enjoyed this read and look forward to more of Gia’s adventures.

I love second chance romances and Shea and Oliver's story will pull at your heartstrings. This is a suspenseful rollercoaster ride that is full of mystery, trauma, second chances, secrets and a love that shines through on every page. This is the fifth book in the series and I have been waiting for Oliver's story. The character development of every person in Gia Cobie's books are so succinctly written you feel that you are right there with them. We see past characters and it made the story stronger and full of depth. Shea's past secret was handledvdelicately and with tact. The subject is not written about much and the shame and embarrassment Shea felt grips you and you feel her fear. These books should not be missed they are written with great feeling and understanding by the author.

Oliver and Shea made a sweet couple and I'm glad that they're finally together, but I felt it needed more suspense to keep me gripped.

As a couple in their 30s I felt it was very safe a they had had issues so I see why they were insecure about each other, so much so that they come across as much younger, instead of late thirty-somethings.
They didn’t come across as mature professionals questioning each other constantly, especially being a cop and ex CIA.
Shea came across as a l childish in some, like swinging their hands & skipping, it was just too immature to me as a reader.
I loved the connection of family and friends/ colleagues that consistently and connection is what I enjoyed the most.
