I finished it because I had to know how it ended so it got three stars. A pretty ditzy, southern, ghost story that at one point I was going abandon, but the ghost kept me hanging on. The rest of the plot and characters, not so much. This is for you if your up for silly.

It's Vintage, Y'all, is a unique clothing boutique owned by Cookie Chanel. She's at an estate sale buying clothing that belonged to Charlotte Meadows, a wealthy business woman who'd been murdered two weeks before, when she first meets a ghost. It's Charlotte. Cookie is the only one who can see and talk to her. Living in Sugar Creek, Georgia, a small, thriving town, Cookie finds it awkward to be haunted by a ghost who won't stop talking and who goes everywhere she goes. Charlotte says she's not going anywhere else until Cookie finds her killer! A beautiful, white Persian cat shows up at It's Vintage, Y'all, and adopts Cookie. Cookie names her Wind Song, and the cat seems magical. Handsome Detective Dylan Valentine appears to be keeping a close eye on Cookie. Someone is murdered. Someone is sending threatening emails to Cookie's blog. Who is the killer?

One of the most humorous, entertaining cozies I've had the pleasure of reading this year! The dialogue will have you in stitches! Charlotte is one of the funniest ghost characters to ever grace the pages of a cozy mystery. Many characters are introduced, and I look forward to re-visiting them in future stories.

NetGalley provided me with a copy of this book. I voluntarily posted an honest review.

Not a bad first entry to the series and I see some potential. I like the concept and I’m curious to see if the ghost sticks around or a new one shows up. Mystery was ok and I figured it out ahead if time!

For most of this read I wore the red plaid Christmas pajama bottoms my wife purchased for me several years ago. For a top, I adorned the classicly hip "I love to grill" gray T-shirt that sports my passion for cooking.

Passion, not fashion.

"With each new day, it was a treat to select an ensemble. Clothing was a way to express my personality. Every day held a surprise and a new combination based on my mood." And that, dear reader, is pretty much why this book did not register with me.

With the ruffled green velour blanket eyeing me from across the room, I note that there was nothing in this book that held my attention or interested me to recommend. Oh, I tried to slough it off as it just wasn't my style, as I am a blue jeans and T-shirt kind of a guy not understanding haute couture let alone vintage, but the truth is even dismissing the annoying fashion theme of this mystery, there's nothing for me wear.

The dialogue was haltingly boring and the who-dunnit part was telegraphed, shallow, and not compelling in the least. I was at least hopeful for a bit that there was going to be a big change of pace and the murderer would have been a "least expected" character. That went out when the cat began spelling with a Ouija board. Seriously! Psychic cats, ghosts, and a business owner who kept leaving her business to break into people's homes did not hold the plausibility meter in the normal range. Truly, the one positive I had from this book was that I loved the name of the clothing store, "It's Vintage, Y'all". I like that a lot!

I did not find the writing interesting. It's a good thing too as I usually like to finish a series even if I am not overwhelmed with it. This book convinced me there's no reason to be upset about not continuing on. Harsh, I understand.

This book serves only as a counter to a book I'll really enjoy to keep my average rating hovering at . . . average. :)

And with that, it is time to change into my de la Renta evening suit for the upcoming ball. Accessorized (Orwell would cringe at that) with a hand-sewn (and tied) black butterfly bow tie from the earl 1960s, I feel ready to take on a bottle of Beefeaters as I forget this read in my ever-whimsical ride of reading.

Ciao!

If you've got it, haunt it by Rose Pressey is the first book in the Haunted Vintage Mystery series. Cookie Chanel owns a vintage clothing boutique, It's Vintage, Y'All in Sugar Creek, Georgia. During an estate sale of a murdered socialite, Charlotte Meadows, the ghost of Charlotte attaches herself to Cookie and asks her to help solve her murder. A fun interesting mystery although Cookie spent most of her time whining and complaining about the ghost. I loved the psychic cat and would have expected her to play a bigger role. A nice start to the series.

Cookie Chanel was one tough cookie! Sole proprietress of It's Vintage Y'All, a vintage clothing store, Cookie had a great taste in fashion, especially with the classic ones. At an estate sale, the ghost of the recently murdered socialite, Charlotte Meadows, appeared to her, and asked for her help. Lady Charlotte believed Cookie would be the one who's going to uncover her mysterious death and discover her murderer.

Shocked and bewildered, Cookie consulted her next-door friend, tarot reader Heather, thinking she could help her drive the ghost away since Heather could talk to spirits. But to her dismay, Heather was actually a fluke. An Ouija board and a mysterious cat that appeared from nowhere proved to be her helpful allies in Charlotte's murder investigation. Well, there's also Detective Dylan who made Cookie's life quite exciting, especially after a second murdered body was found. Although, I don't really find Dylan that pleasing because most of the work and investigation was done by Cookie.

Anyway, I liked how the ghost in the book was a fashionista and was a little overbearing. I find straitlaced phantoms quite boring actually, so having Charlotte the pesky ghost was a good choice. I liked that Cookie was quite a heroine, although she was a little too girly for my taste. Among all the characters, I liked Heather because she brought in the hysterics and fun in the book. The mystery of Charlotte's death wasn't as exciting & suspenseful as the past mystery novels that I've read, but it was great to learn nonetheless. A fun and enjoyable read that will get you hooked if you're for the ghosts and mysteries.

I really thought this was a very cute story. I enjoyed the characters and found many parts humorous. However, the mystery portion seemed a bit off. I didn't feel as if the story made the correct connections as to why, when, or who "did it". It just all of a sudden ended and here is the answer to the mystery. I am still looking forward to new adventures with the characters and am excited to read the next two books in the series.

I have heard good things about this series and I am so glad I finally tried it. I really loved it. I was totally sucked in and did not want to put it down. I loved how bossy and feisty Charlotte was and how it kept getting Cookie into trouble. I will definitely be continuing the series.

If You've Got It, Haunt It by Rose Pressey is the first book in the Haunted Vintage Mystery series. I absolutely adored this paranormal cozy. After attending an estate sale, Cookie Chanel finds herself with more than vintage clothing...she's managed to pick up a ghost. Not only that, the ghost is a murder victim, and she wants Cookie to solve the crime.

With Charlotte the ghost and Wind Song, a cat with strange abilities who showed up just as Cookie needed her, Cookie's got a lot on her plate. Add to that a couple of murders to solve, a detective that just might be into her, and running her vintage clothing boutique, and it's a wonder Cookie gets anything done at all.

This book was light and fun. The characters were a hoot and I thought the setting was great. I love the dialogue, and found myself laughing out loud several times...in public. :) I have recommended this book to a few friends who love cozies as well. If you enjoy light, paranormal cozies with humor, then you will enjoy this book as well.

I checked this ebook out of the library to read and I am voluntarily sharing my review. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

This was a fun read. Not the best I've ever read, but it had its moments and I enjoyed it.

I like Cookie. She's sweet and sassy, and I share her love for fashion. The book has some fun fashion related moments and descriptions of vintage fashion which I enjoyed.

The ghost was annoying. I know that was likely intentional, but she would have driven me around the bend if she haunted me.

The murder mystery was fine, although the ending felt a bit abrupt to me.

Overall, this was a super fast and easy read. I like the supporting characters, and I like the Southern locale and all the Southern flavour the book has. I would read other books in this series. If you are a vintage fashionista, you will probably enjoy Cookie Chanel and her adventures.

When I first started reading this book I didn't think I was going to like it. But I was really glad that I picked up the book and I continue to read it for a book club that I was a member of because I ended up falling in love with this book. And I have actually gone ahead and collected the next two books in the series and I cannot wait to pick up the next books and start to read them. The main character in the story is an absolutely wonderful character I can connect to her on so many levels and I love her I think she's fantastic. The ghost character in the story is by far one of my favorite secondary characters in a book that I have ever read and she is easily one of my favorite spectral characters that I have ever read about. I think that the series has wonderful potential and I cannot wait to read the rest of it it is by far a great collection of read period and the author herself is just an absolute dream to talk to and the stories that she has come up with our fantastic. I can't wait to read the next one!

I picked up this book as it has all the elements I love - paranormal, fun animals, and a mystery. I thought it would be a fun read like "A Witchcraft Mystery" series by Juliet Blackwell (which I love). I wanted to like this book, but sadly, I found it underwhelming and rather blah.

My biggest issue is that I found the characters boring. First, Cassandra "Cookie" Chanel (really? A vintage fashionista who just happens to share the same last name as the iconic fashion designer? A bit of an overkill for me. Plus, Cookie as a nickname? Probably only because of the name alliteration to same iconic fashion designer. Again, overkill.) Not only did I find Cookie boring, but she was wishy-washy. And I'm sorry, but the name of her shop - ugh. Overkill on the attempt to have a cute southern-esque store name. That added with her name and the fact that she constantly repeated the store's name just made me go blech, like ordering an iced tea at a restaurant and they bring you unsweet tea. (Hey, I'm a southerner. When you order tea, it should be iced and sweet. And no, adding sugar packets or, , blue or pink packets after the fact does not make it sweet.) But I digress.

Heather, the supposed best friend of Cookie who owns the store next door, seemed more like a convenience for the plot than anything. She just happened to run the local occult shop and sort of helped move the plot along by providing a ouija board and tarot cards, along with some unhelpful info on getting rid of ghosts. Then there was Charlotte the ghost. She was the least boring of the three because her personality was somewhat interesting and stayed more consistent than Cookie's. But the interesting things about her were never developed. . '

Next up, Detective Dylan Valentine, a former Atlanta cop who just happened to move to this small town. I guess we are to infer that it's because he got tired of all the crime in Atlanta, but since no real explanation given, I guess that's an outstanding question. Plus, for a metropolitan cop, provided he was a good one, the last thing he would ethically do is start becoming involved with a suspect, so I found his interest in Cookie a bit of an ethical gray area. Of course, it could be argued

This is the first book in the Haunted Vintage Mystery Series. It was a good beginning to the series. It introduces us to the characters and gives us information about the town and some of the background. I enjoyed reading this book, it had some humour, some intrigue and the inkling that there will be some romance in the future.

Cassandra "Cookie" Chanel has opened a vintage clothing store, "It's Vintage Y'all" in the small town of Sugar Creek, Georgia. She travels to estate sales to find clothing to sell in her store. When she attends the sale at the home deceased socialite and real estate mogul, Charlotte Meadows, she realizes that the person she is talking to is the ghost of Charlotte herself. Because Cookie seems to be the only that can see her, Charlotte decides that Cookie will find her killer and solve the murder. Charlotte seems to be attached to Cookie and can not travel very far from her. When Cookie asks her friend, Heather, to help her get rid of the ghost, we find out that Heather does not really have any powers to commune with the spirit world, it is just her shtick she uses for her business. She does however believe that Cookie is seeing a ghost. Shortly after Charlotte appears to Cookie, a white cat arrives in her life. She names her Wind Song, after her grandmother's favorite perfume. Is Wind Song some kind of reincarnated spirit? How does she know how to spell things out with the Oujia Board or pick out tarot cards to warn Cookie? The murder of a private investigator in town trying to solve Charlotte's death, spurs Cookie to investigate further. Charlotte will not give her any rest until she solves the crime. Fortunately for Cookie, handsome Detective Dylan Valentine is hot on her heals while she puts herself in danger.

Cookie is a reluctant sleuth. She only investigates because Charlotte will not give her any peace. She is not very good at it either. She blunders into situations, asks blunt questions and is not sure what she should be doing. Heather is a hoot. For the proprietor of an occult store, she has not real powers, but is working to get information out of Wind Song. At the beginning of each chapter there are tips from either Cookie or Heather. I enjoyed the vintage clothing tips from Cookie and Heather's tips for corralling a ghost are funny. I look forward to reading more in the series, in fact the next one is ready to go. I am hoping to see where Cookie will go in her newfound "career" of investigating.

Rose Pressey has done it again! Not only does she have a sassy, intelligent, independent main character, but she has created a 'detective' out of a character you would never have thought to be one, in this case, Cookie Chanel. Let's be honest because Cookie really does the work for Detective Valentine. Cookie was a character who I liked right off the bat and who made me smile throughout her adventure. Charlotte reminded me of a sassy grandmother who really did know best but you did not want to give her the victory in the end, but she truly cared for Cookie and wanted to help as much as be helped. I would not mind another grandmother like Charlotte. Detective Dylan Valentine was one of Pressey's typical male characters and was good mind candy (it's like eye candy for the mind) even if he was a little awkward at times, being the new kid in town. My favorite character was probably Heather, simply because she is eccentric and not afraid to present a Ouija board to a potentially psychic cat. Honestly, she's pretty awesome!

This was not a difficult book to read and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a strong female character who isn't afraid to be girly while solving a mystery. Just because Cookie Chanel runs a vintage clothing boutique and looks super cute and fashionable everyday does not mean she is afraid to get her hands dirty and do some digging. I think this is one thing that really sets this story apart from the usual mystery novel; a woman uses her fashion sense and female intuition to solve a murder and does so while running her own business and taking care of a random cat and ghost. It's a lot to ask of anyone.

If I were a size 4 and a ghost kept telling me I needed to watch what I ate, I would find a way to cut her non-corporeal body.

Aside from that, I had an issue with the detective in this story. I know he had to be a bit clueless in order for our Girl Friday to do her thing, but wow. Seriously bad at his job and maybe not a very good person if he is ok with her lying to the police and disturbing crime scenes.

Enjoyed the story but struggled with it's plot holes and will probably not continue on if there are more books.

This one did not do it for me. There was too much clothing talk. The description of every single stitch that every single person in the entire book wore every single time they appeared got old by page 5. That's a bit too much filler.

The mystery was okay but there wasn't enough of it. The characters were okay but again, too much about their attire and not enough about them.

Cookie Chanel owns a vintage clothing store. When she goes to an estate sale to purchase clothing for her shop, she discovers that she can see a ghost...the ghost of the owner of the estate who claims she was murdered and wants Cookie to help her find her murderer.

I thought this would be formulaic, but I was surprised that the detective love interest did not develop in this first installment. We did build characters...Cookie and her best friend Hannah. But for me, there were many unanswered questions that I assume would be answered in future installments. Why can Cookie see ghosts? What is the story with the cat Wind Song that came into her life (the cat can move a ouija board and make words). These are unanswered until future installments.

I normally do not like paranormals, but I did like all the references to the vintage clothing and overall the book was well written.

Cookie is a reluctant detective. Solving mysteries and hunting for murderers is not really her idea of a good time. She just wants to live her quiet life and run her vintage clothing store. Charlotte bullies her into it, like that scene from ghost where Patrick Swayze annoys Whoopie Goldberg until she agrees to do what he wants. If you are looking for a serious, edge of your seat thrill ride of a read this is not it. If you are looking for something more light hearted and fun then definitely give the AvHaunted Vintage Mystery series a try.

Love the whole concept of the book. Cookie Chanel owns a vintage clothing store. She encounters the ghost of a recently murdered woman whose house she was at an estate sale. The ghost Charlotte tries to get Cookie to investigate. There are all kinds of suspects and motives. The ending was really enjoyable.

The writing is messy, the vintage store shop’s name and the main character’s name are both over-the-top… I don’t know, I just didn’t like it. The ghost added some humor though!
