Despite what her recent ex-boyfriend thinks, Chrissy Hawkins has options. As the beloved mascot for the Minnesota Hares, she's surrounded by beautiful men every week. But none more so than Blessing Harrel. The high-energy hockey center has had his eye on her since she joined the team even though she remained needlessly loyal to her so-called boyfriend. However, he isn't the only one pursuing Chrissy, and it's an unfair fight where Emery Greene and Thaxton Paul are concerned. All three of them are shooting their shot both on and off the ice. So what will happen when neither of them can take a back seat on their feelings for Chrissy? Will she choose? Or will she take one for the team?
Chrissy was tired of lackluster monogamous relationships. Why was she limiting herself to one man when she could have multiple. She thought this way, but hadn't taken action on it. It was all a dream until she finally dropped her broke azz tired boyfriend and an opportunity with three of her Hockey Team coworkers presents itself and who is she to avoid making her dreams come true.
I liked the characters and the premise of the story. I had a few laughs. The story was definitely modernized giving us updated slang and phrases. I loved that Chrissy was a size 16, and rich Hockey Players were head over heels over her. Society will have you swearing that those type of men are only attracted to women that are size 4. I appreciated the banter between the characters and the care shown between all of them. While idk if some of those sex scenes were physically possibly, I don't mind the stretch of imagination.
There were some odd gaps where the story kind of skipped forward and it was harsh, it needed better editing. The timing seemed to be off. Then to call it a Holiday short was a stretch. This story could have happened at any time of the year. The brief mentions of the New Year were thrown in at the end. This story also read young adultish.... hard to explain but it just gave young at times. This is my second book by this author and I wouldn't be opposed to reading more from her, but this one needed to be polished.
…well this was fun 😂 but I also had some issues with it. This is a generous 3 star rating.
This was my first poly romance book. It went in some directions I wasn’t expecting, but was a fun time. I liked how assertive Chrissy was. Her cousin was an enjoyable side character.
I’ll say, the constant interchanging the names/nicknames for the guys was a bit confusing and took me out the story.
Also, it was hard to grasp the concept of time in this story. At one point I thought it was Christmas-ish time, the book references “something that happened in November” in past tense, but then the epilogue was 3 months later on NYE?!
This book was such a cute and fun read. This book is perfect for the holidays and I love all of Aria daze books. She is becoming one of my favorite authors. I look forward to reading more of her books.
This is pure filthy smut 😝🤣!!! From the second sentence I knew I was going to be sitting with my eyes wide opened taking notes😝😝🤣🤣🤣… This was a why choose hockey romance and baby it did not disappoint. Big burly muscles, fill every hole, 👀🤫… Definitely worth a read.
I LOVVVVVVE when a woman is so vocal in books like these. My girl knows exactly what she wants and she’s not ashamed to say it! This was cute, spicy, and such a short read! I ate it up for sure. This is more spice driven lol but there’s plot enough to keep you intrigued!
Listen….the cover lets you know what’s going on so I already knew what was up but baby this was FUN!!! Learned a few things too. S/O to Chrissy for saying exactly what she wanted and finding the perfect men to give it to her!!!
This was hilarious, fun, and smexy. A time was had. I definitely could have used a little one on one time with Chrissy and each of the guys but overall this was enjoyable and entertaining.
Star level: 5 stars Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Trope: hokey romance, why choose, black love Trigger warnings: filthy Fav quotes: “HALLELUJAH! How often is God good? You better answer all the time! I prayed for that niggas downfall everyday and I almost broke into a full praise dance hearing that it had finally happened. Won't he do it!” “If only they knew what I was thinking. ALL ABOARD!” “I'm not new to this, I'm true to this. At 30 years old I had been around the block enough times to know what that look meant. They wanted to fuck me. All three of them. And unfortunately I wasn't opposed.” “You know when you read romance novels and the FMC always plays cute and humble and refuses to spend any of the MMC’s money? Yeah, I hated that shit. They were offering and I was partaking. My budget didn’t speak humble. The only thing I wanted out of the mud was potatoes.” About the book: the book was good it didn’t need a plot why choose was the plot. I do wish to know if she ever chucked her boyfriend out but I really don’t care for him. Chrissy just broke up with her boyfriend for the year when the 3 start hockey players Blessing, Emery, and Thaxton have had a crush on her for a year. The night her boyfriend breaks up with her because he want her to stop being a mascot for the hockey team she end up in bed with all them. Well they did have dinner first then bed with a lot of spice. Once everyone found out it was resolved quickly instead of drawing it out. And everyone family accepted it and the live HEA
I think there's something to be said about authors who write books that are hilarious, sexy, and all-around feel good books. I'm not really a huge fan of novellas because I often feel they are incomplete. If someone asked Google what a "why choose" is, this book should pop up immediately because it explains everything while bringing the banter and addressing points readers often bring up.
I rarely read poly romances but I’m slowly getting into them. This is only the second one I’ve read that I truly liked through and through. I’m mainly a sapphic romance girly but I love a book about women being spoiled and loved on, and this had plenty of that. 💕 Yeah, I ate this book up lol
4⭐️ 3.5🌶️ this was just what i needed! One For The Team is a sexy & hilarious Why Choose/Polyamorous story about 3 hockey players and their mascot whom they’ve all been secretly pining for. it’s always comforting to jump into a story with complete open communication! and lemme tell ya, a time was HADDD while reading this 100 page novella. this was my first read from Aria Daze & it won’t be my last. 🤭
This is my first read from this author and I am not disappointed. I wasn’t expecting to like the book as much as did. I enjoyed all of the characters and I loved their banter. This was a short cute steamy read and I’m here for it all. I’ll be reading much more from this author.
I’m always down for a black poly book. This book was funny. It was very direct. There was a lot of pop culture references. Chrissy being the mascot reminded me of Ellie the elephant. I do love that they were black hockey players.
I’m not sure I liked the writing. The author kind of skipped over some things but I’m assuming that was to keep this as a novella and not a full novel. I think the writing could’ve been a little smoother. Like Chrissy could’ve said she could read between the lines or pick up what they were putting down instead of saying I can read subtext. That was kind of odd. What happened in November?
First and foremost, I want to express my disappointment with this book. It was heavily overhyped and riddled with numerous grammatical errors. What truly bothered me was the author’s frequent switching between the main characters’ nicknames and their real names. As a result, I found myself struggling to keep track of who was who. The descriptions were also confusing, and the book’s pacing felt uneven, with sections that were unnecessarily lengthy. Given these issues, I would rate this book 2.5 out of 5 stars, but unfortunately, Goodreads doesn’t have half-star ratings.
The way they're so gone for each other was so cute! Talk about sprung!
This was the first all Black why choose romance I've ever read and the first all black why choose hockey/sports romance I've ever read and now I need like a million more!!!
This was my first book by this author but it won't be my last!
Ok so I throughly enjoyed this book. It was a great, quick, little read. I just wish that the author stuck to the same names throughout the book. The constant back and forth between their nicknames and real names kept me in continuous memory loops that had me often questioning the alignment of the characters. I would’ve rated it higher had their names been the same throughout. I think this story truly shows that the heart wants what it wants and to emphasize that society does not choose your partner or partners for you, nor dictates your happiness. Everyone has a different lifestyle, not one is ever the same and I think this book shows that respect should always be of the upmost practice and that love can and should always win. If my statement makes you ponder some things, I implore you to read this short novella. What a great read this was.
Ok this book took me on a ride I was not sure I was suppose to be on or not. I loved that Chrissy was not ashamed of her sexual desires. Being miserable and mistreated can have you needing to feel a void but sis was trying to fill them holes. Blessings was the one that I thought was going to be selfish but he genuinely wanted and was interested. But how you interested with a whole man at home? Ox was another that had to feel a little cheated as I thought he was not curious 🧐. However little foot was a damn fool and here for a good time regardless. I hated how I had to keep thinking while reading as the kept going from emery to Ox and Thaxton to little foot to L. Slow down you to me too fast and I still might have that shit mixed up. I loved how they fought for her and stood and made shit right while not allowing anyone to confirm that she in deed was with the 3 of them. Chrissy was fully satisfied in the most perfect way for her and if she loved it I loved it for her.
This book was a spicy fun time from start to finish. Chrissy is a woman who is done settling and ready to fully own her wants—and I was immediately on board. Surrounded by hockey players and opportunity, she finds herself at the center of attention from three men who are all very serious about her.
Blessing, Emery, and Thaxton each bring a different dynamic to the story, and watching their relationships with Chrissy unfold was both entertaining and steamy. If you’re looking for a hockey romance that’s bold, sexy, and centered on a woman who refuses to shrink herself, this one absolutely delivers.
Our good sister Chrissy is in a relationship with her boyfriend Derek. He happens to disapprove of her job. Her job is to the mascot to the Mighty Minnesota Hares. He feels that since Chrissy has this job it is shameful. He tells Chrissy that his parents don’t approve of her job. So he tells Chrissy to quit her job so that she can receive the approval of his parents. Chrissy decides she doesn’t want to do that so she breaks up with him. And removes him after her lease but all hope isn’t lost. Because three players from the Mighty Minnesota Hares. Have been fighting for a spot in Chrissy heart.
I love a good poly story, especially when it's polyandry. While some may find this story unrealistic I know that this does happen. Way back before poly became a trend I knew of ppl who were in such relationships. What I loved most was the author caring to mention that the characters disclosed to each other their medical history as it pertained to STDs and STIs which in reality is very important. A poly story depicting responsible characters who know what they want vs the usual "out in these streets or this isn't right because society said so" type of characters is always welcomed.
This is a quick, smutty read — and I enjoyed every second of it!
Chrissy Hawkins is done being the loyal girlfriend to a man who didn’t appreciate her. As the Minnesota Hares’ beloved mascot, she’s suddenly surrounded by very attractive options — Blessing, Emery, and Thaxton. And EVERYBODY is shooting their shot!
If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced, spicy MMFM(ish) romance that knows exactly what it is and delivers, this one's it. A little over 100 pages, it’s the perfect palate cleanser between heavier reads. Smutty? Yes. Fun? Absolutely. Sometimes, you just need a hot little read to shake things up — and this one did exactly that.
4.5 stars "We meant it when we said you were ours." "Women like you rule the world and everything in it." "But nobody mentioned you having to choose."
This was a fun spicy quick read. Chrissy is such a funny, honest, and real character. I absolutely loved her commentary so much, she had me cracking up at certain parts of the story. The story flows well and as short as the story is, I felt a connection and depth with the characters. This story is fun and it is spicy. All three men were down bad for Chrissy and I loved how they worshipped her in the bedroom and outside of the bedroom as well.
Hmmm 🤔 a “team player” invoked a subjective connotation with this novella. Not my definition of a Holiday read, but to each its own. …However, I support free speech, diversity, equity & inclusion universally. More so, I appreciate the Author Aria Daze’s courage to represent this “poly” community in her catalogue. Everyone deserves a safe space, representation & shouldn’t be excluded & or discriminated from any platform because of their personal preferences 🤷🏾♀️. Meanwhile, “One For The Team: A Happy Holiday Short - Book 2 of 4” is/was an acquired taste, genre & read, just not mine. Nonetheless, happy ho🎄ho🎄ho on this holiday train😬 🚂….🤭🤦🏾♀️‼️
I must admit I came into this pretty blind and enjoyed it. I wasn’t a big fan of GLORY as I’d hoped knowing it was right up my ally. But something felt disconnecting. When this book became available I knew this would be the one for me. I love FMM stories and I feel they should be told more often. These relationship dynamics should be shown more frequently as they are a thing. I’ve read many monogamous books and they seem to be pretty cut and dry. I’m hoping there’s more books like this in the future.
