From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Becca Steele comes a new standalone M/M college romance.
I signed up for the LSU dating app for a bit of fun. Meet a girl, have a good time… You know the drill.
Or that was what was supposed to happen. An error in the app’s code means that my blind date turns out to be a man. Not just any man, either. Nate Glover. The hot, popular footballer who’s a serial dater. Oh, and he’s straight too. So am I. I think.
We start hanging out as friends. He introduces me to his sister. She’s cute and just my type. But why can’t I stop thinking about Nate? And why does he keep looking at me like that? Like he might be interested in something more than just friendship.
Maybe we were matched for a reason, after all.

Matched is an M/M new adult college romance. It is the final book in the LSU series. Each book can be read as a standalone.
Becca Steele is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of new adult romance from contemporary to dark. Her books have been translated into multiple languages.
Becca resides in the south of England with her family. When she's not writing, you can find her reading, gaming, or curating yet another Spotify playlist.
Which was cute. But me and this series (author?) just don’t mesh well. I just don’t vibe with the writing, I think? The dialog and inner thoughts always feel so stilted to me..
BUT I still had a good time, mostly because two guys trying to resist each other and utterly failing, always - without a doubt - does it for me. I just love that shit heheheh ❤️🔥
The ending was cavity inducing sweet, but I had an okay time with this overall and it was good for in-between.
PS: I gotta say though, the mugging joke got so old so fast. And it was made 49 times. I counted. The same joke. 49 times. Jeeez 🙄
Aww... I love this series so much, and Matched is a perfect ending for it. Charlie and Nate are so completely unaware of their obvious attraction after being mistakenly matched on an app, which made for adorably cute dates throughout the story. They are so clearly smitten with each other that the "shock" of their feelings causes a lot of unnecessary drama that I couldn’t get enough of. At times, these two can be a bit stubborn, but watching them fall for each other so naturally, while sharing a great friendship marked by effortless banter and witty quips, made for a sweet romance.
I also love the frequent appearances of all the couples from previous entries. Everyone did their best to help these two clueless guys recognize their feelings for each other. It was a group effort that was both hilarious and heartwarming.
Overall, the story's premise is filled with misunderstandings and hijinks, creating such a fun read that I really enjoyed. I love Nate and Charlie's story and can't believe this series has come to an end. It will be fun to revisit these couples again and again.

Tropes: college sports romance, accidental connection, bromance Feels: 3.5/5 Steam*: 2/5 Kinks: n/a Angst: low HEA: yes Pairing: MM Triggers/potential icks/content warnings/representation: divorced parents, financial struggles Cheating between MCs: No Any cheating: Charlie tries to date Nate's sister Sophie, but his feelings for Nate get in the way. There's no cheating really, but maybe emotional cheating. Other person drama: Sophie kisses Charlie one time, but Charlie doesn't return the kiss. Other than that, neither of the mmcs are with anyone else during the course of the book. They try to stay away from each other and consider hooking up with others, but never do, they are focused on each other.
4.5 stars
I'm rounding up with the rating here just because this was a nice end to the series and Nate and Charlie were cute!
Charlie is 19 and he's in his first year at college. Nate is 21 and he's in his last year at college. Nate plays soccer and is a star athlete and popular on campus. Charlie is poor, working two jobs, and try to support himself and help out his siblings financially. He likes soccer too, but he doesn't have time to play because he needs to work.
Nate's roommate Jonas makes a dating app for their college campus as part of a school project of his. It's a social experiment, it's without names and pictures so did it focuses on a real connection rather than first impressions. Jonas advertises a chance to win 50 quid if you participate, so Charlie starts using it. And Jonas ropes Nate into using it too. Jonas messed up on the gender coding and Charlie and Nate accidentally get matched for a date, even though they both are straight. When they meet, they get talking and they are instant friends. They have a ton in common and they banter with each other and quickly feel affection for each other. But they both think they're straight, and when they start to realize they are thinking of the other person romantically/sexually, they still think the other person is straight and off limits.
Nate has a younger sister Charlie's age, Sophie. And Charlie meets her through Nate and takes her out on a date. They have a couple meetups, but Charlie can't bring himself to date her given his feelings for Nate. There's conflict about whether they should be together because of Sophie, her feelings after Charlie ends anything, and there's also conflict because Nate is worried about starting something when he's about to graduate and start a master's program four hours away. But Nate and Charlie can't keep apart.
This was a really cute story. Nate and Charlie were great together as friends and as a couple. I loved their banter, they're competitiveness, and how they just enjoyed spending time together. You could see them lasting a long time because they just enjoyed each other's company so much. Their running joke about Nate being a mugger or stalker was cute and funny. It was nice to see appearances from characters from the other books. It was a lot of characters to remember and keep track of, but you could just let them be in the background and not worry too much about remembering their stories. But if you were a fan of the other books, there was some nostalgia in seeing them. This book was a nice end to the series, especially with that soccer game at the end of the book. And it was nice that we got a epilogue 5 years in the future, to see Nate and Charlie still going strong and getting what they wanted out of life.
Some notable moments:
"He’s alright yeah. Not what the app is supposed to be for though Jonas: Maybe it’s telling you to broaden your horizons Me: Maybe you and your app should fuck off Jonas: JK. I’ve known you for almost 3 years now and I think I’d know if you were into men. You would have hit on me Me: No chance. I have standards Jonas: Low standards"
"Ander took up a casual pose, leaning against the door frame with his arms folded across his chest. “Something you want to share?” “No,” Charlie immediately bit out, and Ander held his hands up. “Don’t worry. My lips are sealed.” He glanced behind him. “Our lips are sealed,” he amended, and I groaned as Elliot appeared in the doorway, both of them looking between us with undisguised curiosity. “Ander—” Charlie began again. “You don’t need to explain. I’ll just use my imagination to tell me why you’re trying to smuggle one of my teammates out of our house at—” He paused to glance at his phone. “—8:42 a.m.”"
*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.
**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

I enjoyed this final book in the LSU series so much! The sexual awakenings for both Nate and Charlie actually felt realistic to me, especially with the way the tension was building and that their chemistry became more and more obvious with every encounter.
I loved how they couldn't stay away from each other and the way they just fit together so nicely! I wasn't so keen on the sister's involvement, or the heavy dose of denial Nate was living in, but it all added to the back and forth and the indecision before Nate finally realised what he wanted.
The cameos from all of the author's previous MM couples also felt like a great way to round out the series. We had numerous mentions of Jordan and Theo from Reckless; all of the couples from the LSU series were either mentioned or prominent side characters; plus we get mentions for Levi and Asher from Savage Rivals, as well as Kian and Preston from Cross The Line. It was like a full on reunion and I was so here for it.
I'd go as far as saying that this book feels like it's the end of Phase 1 of Becca Steele's MM romances (yes I'm using Marvel as a guideline), because all of these characters have now graduated LSU / grown up, and they're all in settled relationships. Plus it leads really nicely into the upcoming book, Offside Play from the multi author series, Love The Game, which I'm assuming will take place at Glevum FC again for the Premiership club? A character called Jude Nielson was also mentioned in this book along with Theo and Jordan and I couldn't recall him, so I'm curious if he may be the next MC. But regardless, I'm super happy for what I'm calling Phase 2 of Becca Steele's MM universe!
***** I received an ARC of this book from The Author Agency, and this is my honest review
This was so incredibly cute and sweet. This couple was made for each other and the writing was just….chef’s kiss. This is going to be one of my new favorites!
This was definitely one of the stronger installments in this series, and I did adore Charlie and Nate together overall.
I was very hopeful that this would turn into my favorite work of this authors in the first half of this.
Because after somewhat of a slow start, I really started to get into this, into these two and the drama between them and Nate's sister who genuinely liked Charlie.
These two maintained some good chemistry throughout this, but it was at its best in the first half when they were trying to stay away from each other for Sophie, Nate's sister's sake but were wildly attracted to each other anyway. The scene in the park when they're hanging out is some of the best this author has done, in my opinion, and the sexual tension was top notch.
Also their first kiss in the bathroom of the student union while Sophie was outside unaware? OOP, the drama! I loved, it was delicious!
I did love that they tried to do the right thing as well, with Nate ending things before they truly began with Sophie and then he and Nate trying to be friends to spare Sophie's feelings.
But then once they got together, this story kinda lost its spark. Whatever the author had cooking in the first half kinda of fell off.
Especially when her sex scene writing was the same as it always has been - very brief, very glossed over, very fast and "meh" so we didn't get the true pay off of the great chemistry these two had. Like I really loved these two together and then their sex scenes were...meh. It was unfortunate. I wish this author was good at sex scenes so the pay off of such good chemistry could have been great. Instead we were cheated out of good sex between a good main couple.
Plus, with all the avenue for any drama taken out, it became kind of by wrote again. It became fairly typical of this author with only Charlie and Nate being Charlie and Nate saving the second half for me.
I like this author sometimes, I do, but also this author isn't a strong writer a lot of the time. She had the recipe for a top notch book and then...fell by the wayside with it.
Near the end I was only reading for Charlie and Nate, but I didn't really care about the plot anymore. Sophie was sorted, they sorted out the future of their relationship, all was well, we were getting nothing in the form of sex scenes, so I was ready for this to be over. I wasn't chomping at the bit to finish this as I was hoping to after reading the first half.
So the second half was leaning more toward a 3 star read and the first half was a 5 star read for me, so we're evening it out at 4 stars.
This had a strong start and a fairly weak finish.
Charlie and Nate were great, though, and they're one of my fave couples this author has ever done. It's just unfortunate that they kind of got dragged down by a weak plot later on and somewhat weak writing.
Still one of my favorite of this author and series, though, overall.
I will read more of this author in the future, but...if all of them just continue to feel like duds - 3 star reads or below - with this very fast paced sex scenes with barely any detail or lingering...I might have to give up on this author. We'll see how future books go.
For now I recommend this one, as it was still one of the best this author has done, in my opinion.

Froever grateful to have been chosen to arc read this book. Thank you so much to Becca and The Author Agency.
This book made me laugh, cry, and have all the emotions in between… it also reminded me of someone who was special to me at one point in time.
If you love MM romances, sports romances (football, the one where you use your actual feet) and college romances, this is the perfect book for you. You might wanna read the rest of the series first though, just so you know who’s who. Because let’s face it, it’s a minor miracle Becca was able to keep all the names straight 😭
When I stumbled upon this series, I had no clue that it was gonna mean this much to me. It’s honestly one of my favorite romance book series ever. I can’t believe this book is the end of the series… I was so emotional while reading it, loving every second of it. (I’m not crying while writing this, what do you mean?) Nate and Charlie’s story was the perfect ending to this amazing series. ♥️
This chapter is coming to a close for me (I will be rereading these books until the end of time), but Becca has sooo many other books, so in the words of our Queen Taylor Swift, Next Chapter.
FINALLY done with this series, someone please hand me my trophy. Thank you!
Okay so Nate and Charlie's meet cute had me invested in the beginning. The dates-but-not-dates were adorable but somewhere along the way the spark just fizzled out (as it tends to do for me with every single book of this series). The initial charm pulled a Houdini and I literally had to skim through the last chunk of it. Guess i just needed some more... drama? Idk. Still, Becca darling please write something like Savage Rivals and i will devour it. Pinky promise!
I'm sad to see this series end. We've been (read) through so much together. All the love, all the sexy, all the wonderful pages ❣️ This was a great, cute, adorable and very satisfying end. Nate and Charlie were a beautiful revelation. The way they both loved, once love was acknowledged was inspiring. Such an ending of hope and happiness. What more could we ask for.
*No third parties were hurt in the telling of this story.😉
The series has come to an end thankfully and this is the final book.
It’s a bit better than the rest, but I might need to go back and reread Collided, though, because I have a feeling I rated it a little too generously.
Overall, this one delivers a light, cute story. Don't expect much, but it’s an easy enough read if you’ve made it this far.
🟣 College popular soccer player /a freshman 🟢 Age gap 19/21 (22) 🔵 Blind date 🟠 Bisexual (not out) / bi-awakening 🌶️ Some sex scenes, not plenty; some off-page; kissing, first times, oral, penetrative; both vers
Nate is a well known soccer player at LSU and Charlie is a freshman who loves soccer, but can't play, because he needs to work to support his family back home.
They both end up using the new LSU dating app and accidentally go on a “date” with each other instead of with other girls. They quickly become fast friends and have a few more of these mix-up dates before they realize they actually like each other and start hooking up.
I really liked how the story started with them becoming friends and going on these fun, casual non-dates. Their friendship developed nicely as they slowly grew closer, but I didn't like their dialogues, though, they just weren't well written and maybe it’s also partly because of the British setting, but I just can't get into it, if it's not a historical romance, British English just doesn't work for me.
“I don’t suppose you know if there’s anywhere safe to leave my bike around here, do you?” “You won’t be able to mug anyone without it.” “No?” My brows lifted. “Wanna bet?” “Remember, I’m poor. Not worth mugging.”
“You’re a menace, Charlie B,” I said, lifting my head to kiss the tip of his nose. “You’re the menace. Remember, you’re an actual criminal. You pickpocketed me and mugged me.”
When they finally did hook up, it threw me off a bit. Their dynamic changed in a second, because they went from cool, sweet, and gradually opening up to suddenly aggressive and grabbing each other. It wasn't a good progression, because It didn’t feel like them. I expected something sweeter and more sensual, given the vibe they had throughout the story. You get a couple of scenes where they both bottom and that's it.
On top of that, Nate’s sister wanted to be with Charlie, and he ditched her after a couple of platonic dates, so then Nate and Charlie worried about being together because of it, which felt pointless, because Charlie made it clear he wasn’t interested in her and too much of the story revolved around that.
"Flashing me a grin, he drew another heart, but when he started drawing stick figures, I clamped my hand down over his, stilling his motions. “My abs are not a canvas, and your cum is not paint.”
“Says you. Yet I’m here drawing pictures all over you.”"
That was supposedly one of the “hottest” parts the book had to offer and it just came off as cringe.
I’ve never been a fan of the storytelling in this series, because it’s boring and doesn't pull you in. It’s not romantically engaging and can even feel awkward at times, making the stories a bit of a chore to get through, even if you like the main characters.
I actually did like Charlie and Nate, but the delivery just isn’t very strong.
"He stilled beneath me, and I suddenly realised just how close we were. Close, as in half of my torso was plastered against his, and I could feel the rapid rise and fall of his chest underneath mine. He blinked up at me, his ridiculously long lashes fluttering and his light eyes darkening as his pupils expanded."
Recall, this MM college romance series is focused around the life and loves of a group of football playing college dudes studying at LSU. The series is set in England and has the quirky English sense of humour running all through it, which I love.
This is Nate and Charlie's story, and they have the best meet-cute!
What To Expect:
❣️MM college romance ❣️Double bi-awakening ❣️Friends to lovers ❣️Online dating gone wrong! ❣️Found family ❣️Lots of cameos ❣️Low angst ❣️Spicy first times ❣️All the swoony feels ❣️HEA
Matched is book five in the LSU series. This MM college romance story is about Nate and Charlie.
Nate is a footballer in his last year at LSU. He is not looking to be in a relationship because he will be leaving after he graduates to work on his masters. Charlie is a freshman at LSU. He wants to play football, but can’t because he works multiple jobs so that he can send his siblings money. Nate and Charlie meet on a blind date after being matched on a dating app. They are straight and both signed up looking to date a woman, but there was an error in the app’s code. They make the best of their “first date” and it was fun to see their banter while they were getting to know each other.
Nate and Charlie start hanging out as friends, and Nate introduces Charlie to his sister Sophie. Sophie is definitely interested in Charlie, and they start hanging out. Nate and Charlie seemed to be confused about their feelings for each other, so it made it a bit uncomfortable to read about Sophie and Charlie. Eventually this situation gets resolved, but it causes Nate and Charlie to hesitate before they eventually give in to each other.
Nate and Charlie start hooking up and agree to keep things between them. It was supposed to be casual, with intentions of it ending when Nate moved away after the semester. But the more time they spend together, feelings change and things turn into so much more. Nate and Charlie were so sweet and I enjoyed seeing them fall for each other. Nate and Charlie definitely were matched for a reason. The side characters were great, especially Nate’s best friend Jonas. It was also fantastic to see the rest of the LSU gang that we love from the previous books. This was such an amazing series, and I can’t recommend it enough.
I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
I absolutely love this series so I was super excited to see another story had come out. This one is probably one of my favs in the series. Their meet-cute was amazing and I loved how quickly they clicked with each other (even if they didn’t realize it).
Charlie and Nate were both amazing characters. There was a bit of other woman drama that I was worried about but thankfully it worked out well. Their HEA was exactly what they needed and I was so happy for them. I highly recommend this series and can’t wait to see what else this author writes!
A MM College romance with Bi-awakening(s), matched on app, a quick friendship & inevitable chemistry, a bit forbidden & angst, being neighbours, football ⚽, secret & a LOVE worth staying for 🥰. I flew through this book, it gripped me good. I devoured my #ARC in 7hrs! Loved Charlie, Nate & great to see everyone 😍.
Nate is in his final year in LSU, a footballer. N's genuine, protective & humorous. A temporary relationships guy, cuz why bother if their destinations differ? But is it just denial? Charlie is a 1st year student, rooming up with other footballers. C's a playful menace, caring & pouty cute. A One-night-stands guy. Sweet how he does job(s) to send money back to his siblings.
It's got accidental matches, fast-paced story, instant chemistry with fun & cute banters but love takes time. I loved their (non-)dates 😁. They're quite similar but C felt more shy, compared to N who felt cautious (IYKYK) relatively by vibes. Loved the friends, especially Nate's bestie 🙌.
Omg that angsty bit in the middle! M's flashback explained so much, denial hurts. I did NOT expect the temporary love-triangle with sis lol 😅 (which ups the angst!), but no probs it ends soon & she's cool 🥰. I loved the jealous, possessive, vulnerable bits 🤭.
N+C were so ugh, like the swoon, hurt & cuteness teared me up 😭. Loved the build-up & first times! The end timer had me anxious but it was dealt with beautifully 🥰. The only bit I'm mad is that, I love vers couple & it glossed over when they switched 😩. It's great we get to see 'em as out couple too 😍. Awesome ending!
I loved that we got a bit of everyone, It took me a bit to remember 'em as it's been so long since I've read their books & but this was a great end (if it is) to series.
Rating: 4.5/5 🌟 Spice: 2.5/5 🌶️ Heroes: Nate and Charlie
I cannot believe this is the last book in this series. I really don't want to leave this group.
Nate and Charlie meet through a dating app. The app was created by Nate's best friend and roommate so he's doing him a favor and testing it out. A small glitch leads to him meeting Charlie for the date. Despite both of them thinking they are straight they hit it off well and decide to hang out for the "should be date." They both agree to try the app again only to be matched a second time. They have such a good time hanging out that they decide to be friends. The more they hang out though, the more they both start to see things a little different and feel things towards the other. Things get complicated when Charlie starts seeing Nate's sister and then finds out that Nate is moving away after he graduates. Which is only a few months away since there is a small two-year gap between them.
This was fun, sweet, a bit swoony and spicy. It's everything I love and expect in this series. These two had so much banter and chemistry right from the start. And I loved how possessive Nate got, seriously; I was cheesy smiling every time he would get jealous and all sexy aggressive.
This entire series is a comfort read for me. I revisit all of them regularly because they just make me feel happy. Short, sweet, spicy romances with mild drama and conflict and very loveable characters.
Charlie signs up for the new LSU dating app but the app ends up setting him up with Nate, though both of them are straight. However, the two hit it off and start a new friendship where Charlie meets Nate’s sister, yet he can’t stop thinking about Nate in a way that is more than a friend would. Matched marks the final book of the LSU series.
Nate and Charlie were a perfect send off for the series for me, I adored them! There is push and pull with them facing their feelings and when they finally face how they feel for each other, just made me swoon even harder for them. Their first interaction had me cackling, but the deeper these two got the more I loved them. Nate’s possessiveness, even when he hadn’t acknowledged what it was, had me giggling because the man was down bad from the start! Charlie and Nate had some things to work out, but I am so glad they did!
Seeing characters from earlier in the series was a treat as well! I have loved this series since I stumbled upon it in late 2023, heck the first book I annotated was Blindsided! Nate and Charlie end the series on such a high note, thank you for these characters I’ve loved ever since!
Nate plays for the university football team and when his roommate and best friend designs a dating app for the uni, Nate agrees to test it out. However, when he turns up for the date, instead of finding a girl, he finds Charlie. They hang out and that’s it. But when it happens a second time they decide to become friends since they have mutuals. When Nate introduces Charlie to his sister, Charlie tries really hard to like her but he’s started wondering if he’s a straight as he’s always believed. Pretty soon both of them are questioning their sexuality as they can’t stay away from each other. But with Nate set to leave soon to start his Masters miles away, it’s his would only ever be a fling. Or would it?
I loved this!! I don’t get to read romance set in the UK very often so this made such a nice change! Nate and Charlie were so perfectly matched they were inevitable! I need to go back and read all previous books in this series because I want to know more about the relationship dynamics in this group of friends! Highly recommend for a short, sweet, spicy, MM romance!
This is an ARC review and all opinions are my own. Thank you to The Author Agency for the ARC copy of this book and for the opportunity to read and review it
this was so cute!! i love the way becca’s always able to give us sweet, fun, and engaging stories and couples!
i enjoyed nate & charlie’s dynamic a lot! they were so drawn to each other and had the best back and forth! they truly couldn’t stay away from each other and i loved every second of them <3
This final book in the LSU series was so sweet.Nate & Charlie's sexual awakening was done so well without feeling unrealistic or rushed. The pair being matched accidentally on a dating app was funny but they both just rolled with it & became fast friends. The chemistry between the pair was evident even though they both denied it.This book was sweet, swoony & funny with the two MMCs going from strangers to friends to lovers, yet they acted like bestfriends right from the moment they met & clicked. This is definately a feel good series. Spice-🌶🌶.5
💙 MM Romance 💜 Friends to Lovers 🩷 Bi-Awakenings 🩵 Secret Relationship 💛 Soccer Romance 🧡 College Romance
I'm a little blubbering mess. This is by far my favourite Becca Steele book which is absolutely nuts for me since I normally hate love triangle vibes or sneaking around vibes and this book had both so this should have turned me off but surprisingly I wanted more.
I've read two other book in this series, Ignited & Dared, but Matched topped this series for me so far! I had forgotten how adorable some of the relationships were and it's only made me definitely want to go back and read some of the other storylines.
I received this book (ARC) for free in exchange for my honest review which I am leaving voluntarily.
I thought this was pretty good and the misunderstanding through the apps was funny. The thing about these "bi awakening" stories is that it's amazing how long it takes these guys to figure out what's going on.
What a read! I absolutely LOVED Nate and Charlie. The chemistry that they tried to fight. I loved the way they met, the development of their relationship just kept me hooked.
Well, I think it's safe to say that Nate and Charlie are the definition of right person, right time 🥰 their first meeting was funny and so cute and it kept getting better and better. You gotta love some supportive friends, I gotta say 🤭 This series shows us some amazing friendships and that's just so important beside the romance of course.
This book is one of these that instantly cheer you up after you read it for a bit cause you just like the vibe and how the story of the characters is build.
Both of the MCs are just amazing guys, and I'm so happy they found each other 🩷
