Last few issues were a bit jumbly, but this was definitely explosive, badass and well written. It drew well from old Invaders history (which is in itself a wonderful homage to Golden Age Marvel Comics. Furthermore, this ties in faithfully to Hickman’s Avengers/New Avengers as well as the concurrent Original Sin event.

The action does not relent in this volume. Golden Age heroes like Jim, Bucky and Namor kick ass here... and Cap also makes a much needed appearance. It also looks like we’re gonna be getting some sweet Union Jack, Spitfire and Destroyer action in the next volume.

I wonder if these “martians” are the same martians we saw in the old Marvel Mystery Comics with the Human Torch! I’m very excited to see where this cool series goes.

Definitely read... but be prepared for some confusion if you aren’t savvy on other Marvel stuff happening around the same time.

There are too many dangling threads in this volume for someone pick up the book that hasn't read Invaders since Roy Thomas wrote it to follow along.

The opening storyline here delves into the Original Sin of the Invaders, but turns out to be a bit of a fake-out. I like the reintroduction of other Invaders characters however, such as the Iron Cross and Golden Girl, who I didn't expect we'd ever see again. The second storyline picks up on the dangling plot thread from the Winter Soldier's story in the previous volume, and again leaves us some questions to be resolved going forward. Robinson is doing well to keep my interest between arcs by having everything link together but by giving us individual stories to focus on too. Marc Laming, who did some fill-in work for Fantastic Four, pencils the Original Sin arc, and his bright, clean style again compliments Steve Pugh's art in the latter arc of the book quite nicely. I'm glad this book is being given the time to breathe and tell its own stories - it is referencing continuity in other books well without being dragged down by other events, even if some of these issues are an Original Sin tie-in, they don't derail the ongoing story that Robinson is trying to tell.

Easily the best Invaders series since the original 70s revival. James Robinson is one of comics greatests long-term/long-run writers. I suspect whatever he's got up his sleeve won't see the light of day, as I suspect this title will cancelled before we ever get to the best parts.

Ostatnio przeczytałem drugą odsłonę Secret Avengers w ramach Marvel NOW! i byłem zachwycony. Tu...

Początkowe zeszyty służą jako tie-in do sporego eventu Marvela pt. Original Sin.

W dodatku mamy całkiem sporo powrotów do przeszłości, jakie mają na celu uświadomić czytelnika w liczbie postaci i jakoś sensownie je przedstawić.

Przeczytałem już całość i All-New Invaders są jedną z najgorszych serii w Marvel NOW! A to mnie mocno zdziwiło.

It's by James Robinson, which means it's smart, character-driven, and wordy.

First, we get an Original Sin tie-in. A Japanese-American superhero named Radience is in New York when when the Watcher's eye explodes. She gets a flash of awareness that the Invaders were in the South Pacific around the time the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and she demands answers.

Then, Jim Hammond's old sidekick Toro turns out to be Inhuman and goes into a coccoon, which is then taken. This leads to a complicated conspiracy which leaves more questions then answers.

Robinson doesn't do the best fight scenes. Everyone spends most of their time sitting and talking, even when they shouldn't be. But I still enjoyed this more than most of the stuff Marvel was putting out at this time.

2 1/2 times read: I like this run, as I appreciate the work of writer James Robinson and artist Steve Pugh. Another artist here, Mark Laming, does a bang-up job on the pivotal/problematic two issue/chapter tie-in with the Original Sins crossover... To wit, after they took part in WW2 victory in Europe, how did the Invaders take part in victory over Japan and the use of atomic bombs ... This is by no means perfect storytelling, the lynchpin could be called retroactive continuity or retcon, but it holds together better for me on rereading.
Recommended.
Thanks to my local comics shop bargain bin for the comics issues and to Fulton County Public Library for the loan of the trade paperback collection.

This Invaders story was a miss. James Robinson can usually do a good job tying history to the present. Here, we get two storylines. The first was very weak, giving readers nothing interesting or new. The second had some potential but it had too many components that didn't come together well at all. I do want more Jim Hamond. His is a voice we haven't heard a lot of but I'd like to hear more. The ending leads to a new storyline that is hopefully better. Steve Pugh's art was really good here. Overall, this was a pitiful tie-in to Original Sin and lacked any freshness.

A young superhero sees the Invaders choosing not to stop the nuclear bombs in WW2. The Human Torch explains what really happens.

This is mostly told in flashbacks and those are decent. You get to know more about the relationships in the team, and their moral centre. A good read.

Robinson proves two things with this volume of the title. 1. That a good story-teller can manage to tell a good tale even when forced into a corporate cross-over event and 2. He can make obscure characters fun again for those of us who recall them.

These five single issues combine two short story arcs, a change from the usual one story arc per TPB. The first was the forced corporate tie-in story for the Original Sin event. I won't spoil what the Invaders sin was, but it makes sense considering the era the team was first functioning in. This arc also introduces Radiance, the grand-daughter of one of the characters from the series' first run, and her response to the Invaders’ sin makes sense.

The second story arc brings back the original Deathlok, aka Luther Manning. The overall story wasn't great, but the character's introduction issues so many years ago were among my favorites at the time. Arguably Manning was cyberpunk before dystopian futures and cyberpunk was cool.

Best team book from marvel that no one seems to be paying attention to.

James Robinson gives you a textbook on how do do a big event story that stands on its own while navigating all the sub-plots and events from the marvel universe at large.

The Golden Age hero team reunites with a few added legacy characters for one big mission and then find other reasons to work together.

Every hero sounds right and Robinson juggles a lot of continuity without you ever feeling lost of like you need to do homework to read this.

The interplay between the 'big three' really holds you when the slow build of the series could lose you. It's nicely done.
I even like his take on Winter Soldier, a character I'm not really fond of.

Nice read.

Introducing Radiance, granddaughter of the Golden Girl, a Japanese superhero from the 40s. The Original Sin has shared secrets with people, and now she knows that the Invaders could have stopped the Hiroshima bombs, and Torch gets involved as he tries to protect her. It never really gelled into one story, it bounced around a lot. Liked seeing Coulson, and learning his grandfather had been saved on D-Day by Torch. Bucky met Iron Cross, Germany's Iron Woman, and he Steve got to fight together before Steve went off to Z-world and got old.

James Robinson's writing on this series as been pretty good. This series sort of crosses will a few other Marvel titles but it feels like it is a self contained story. There was a lot of action in this volume but being that it was a Original Sin Tie-in felt weakened it a bit from the previous volume. James Robinson always does a good job with old superhero characters. I think his run on the Earth 2 series for DC Comics is quite good.

Not as good as vol 1. The story starts out ok but starts to get disjointed. I feel like they are trying to hard too bring back so many characters that it is making the story telling weak. Plots have holes and it jumps around too much especially from issue to issue. The art is also not as great as volume 1. Although the colors by Guru Efx is still pretty great.

I liked this more than the first volume, which is a bit ironic as the stories here are tie-ins to the Original Sin event (which I absolutely HATE for the massive dump on continuity and long-time characters that it is) and the company-wide push for the Inhumans over mutants out of spite over movie rights (which here leads to retconning Toro from a mutant into another Inhuman).

Perfectly fine. It's not especially memorable or problematic. (There are some racial issues mostly confined to the background that could be problematic, but they're relatively standard comcicbook stuff.) The choice of villain seems like throwest back of them all, which is a little interesting.

I never read any invaders before this title, and i don't see the point of bringing them back. There are enough teams and new characters without bringing old ones too. it is like bringing the dead back to lofe all the tome, ot takes away the emotinos of the death.
