Aurora encounters a mysterious stranger and is attacked by a fantastical creature. The incident draws the attention of the Princes of Darkness, the gods, and archangels, who confirm the creature is a demon that should not be on Earth.
Zane, a Shade from the realm of Asphodel, is asked to walk in her dreams to investigate her assault. He creates reveries, a state between dreams and wakefulness, where he can probe Rori’s subconscious. As he uncovers clues to the stranger’s identity, he also becomes entranced by the complex woman whose deepest desires are stifled by her past. Zane is determined to solve the mystery of her assault, but in breaking through her reserved exterior, she forces him to question his own detached indifference that has kept him in Limbo for thousands of years.
With the help of the gods, Zane discovers Rori is the key to a twisted plan that is decades in the making. To save Rori and prevent the destruction of the very structure of the celestial realms, Zane must make an impossible choice that could change his fate and everything he thought he valued.
Georgia spends most of her time lost in fantastical worlds, thinking up wild ways to entertain readers who love romantic fantasy.
The Shadows and Light series are Georgia's first published novels, a planned six book series of love, political intrigue, intricate worldbuilding, magic and mystical creatures, and legends and lore. The story is an epic fantasy, heavily focused on character-driven storylines, both heroes, the morally gray, and the despicable. Books 1-5 are now available on Kindle Unlimited, Amazon and Audible.
Disenchanted Tales is a dark(ish) and steamy series of novels inspired by fairy tales, myths and fables. Book 1 -3 are now available on Kindle Unlimited and Amazon.
Georgia lives in California and when not spending time with her family, working and writing, she is an avid competitive equestrian.
This is a series that you must read. This is not a fairytale retelling, but a whole new take on some of the beloved characters from our childhood. Georgia has made them into characters we can love and hate and relate to as adults. Rori and Zane have lead very different lives, but as we come to realize, love, true love cannot be stopped no matter what. After reading the 5th book in her Shadows and Light Series(which WRECKED me), this was a nice spicy reprieve. Just do your self a favor and read the Disenchanted Series!
Yet another absolutely outstanding story from Georgia 💕
Sleeper is inspired by The Grimm Fairy tale that Sleeping Beauty was based on. However, this is not a simple story of a princess who falls into a deep sleep and requires a prince to save her. It is so much more 😎
I loved the story of Zane and Rori as he battles to discover what demon is after her, and she discovers her own sexual awakening. It is full of angst and tension, insta lust, and spicy spiciness 🌶. As well as warring Gods and Demons as Rori is protected and desired by both.
Georgia built so many layers into this story that it kept me guessing right until the end which happened to at 2am because it wouldn't be a Georgia story if I didn't get so engrossed that I abandoned everything including sleep to finish it.
The epilogue was equally awesome, and I can not wait until Hunter. The crumbs laid are already setting it up to be another absolutely banger 😍
Another great read from Ms. Georgia! I really enjoyed this story and couldn't put it down. I loved the little aspects of the original Sleeping Beauty/Briar Rose story, but this was so different in the best way. This definitely felt like the "sexual awakening" story that Grimm intended. Rori and Zane's story was spicy and beautiful and filled with so much tension and angst. Fabulous combo.
I did find it hard to tolerate Rori's character for a lot of this book, but I understood why she was written the way she was. I thought Leigh did a fantastic job of writing the "purity culture guilt/denial" aspect of Rori's character, from her inner monologues to her interactions and dialogue with others as it related to sex and sexuality. As someone who is the exact opposite in my thought process, I naturally was like "girl, what?!" LOL! So I applaud Leigh's ability to get this character profile and be able to write it so well.
Zane, oh Zane...I did not get nearly enough of you in this book! LOL! I loved his character so much. I absolutely LOVE a grump/hard-ass who folds for that ONE person and then they are the biggest softy ever. Zane was determined to have the "real" Rori and he did NOT give up. I loved the way he welcomed her combative nature and turned it into something positive and sexy for the two of them. They way he challenged her to take what she really wanted without consequence, fear, or judgement was beautiful. His PATIENCE with her once he realized his mistakes was *peak* ideal partner behavior.
Bela's character also really captured my heart. I love when side characters leave their mark on the story. Bela was such a great assistant/companion to Zane, and eventually to Rori. You could really feel the bond shared between the two Shades. Theo's character was an interesting aspect to this group of characters. While he was a necessary piece to all of this (especially being the representative of Elysium of sorts), I didn't find his character all that indelible. I don't say that as a negative or a positive, just indifferent.
I really liked the cameo by Remi in this book, made me miss him *happy tears*. I also thought this was interesting to see, because it lets us know/reinforces that the events in this book are taking place within the timeframe of Beast (book 1). I love the little connections. I will say, had I not read Beast prior to this book, I may have been a little confused on the world-building elements and the hierarchies of the realms/princes/gods and such. There was some background here, but I think the majority of it was seen in book 1. So I would encourage people to read Beast before reading Sleeper, but it's not totally necessary.
And speaking of world-building: I mentioned this in my review for Beast, but I think it worth reiterating here... Leigh has basically combined aspects of multiple religous/spritual/cultural beliefs into one cohesive group. I have found this to be incredibly refreshing and modern and it's one of the aspects that I have liked the most. I think it opens the mind and encourages us to explore what some might already believe (or not) and see things in a different light (at least from a theoretical standpoint). I love books that make me think about "defined" ideals and look at them through a different lens.
I do feel like this series definitely has been more focused on the couples of each story, with the overarching plot kind of hanging around in the background. We're given just enough to keep things moving along throughout the books plot-wise, but most of what's happening is between the main couple. I do hope more of the larger plot gets revealed, but I don't think this aspect should deter anyone who enjoys Fantasy Romance. These stories are full of spice, romance, and love. I've really enjoyed them so far.
I also wish we had gotten a bit more of the "after" story for Rori and Zane. I won't say too much, but I would have loved to have seen more of their life together after all the crazy sh*t went down. But maybe we'll get lucky and get a glimpse in later books *wink*.
I will caution folks, there is quite a bit of religious influence, purity culture, and self denial discussion in this story, so if that is not something you're down with or it's triggering for you, please take that into consideration. I do think it's a worthy read either way.
Recommendation: Absolutely! Especially since I don't know of any other stories that have played on/been inspired by the Sleeping Beauty story as of yet (there could be, but I just haven't seen). I think there will be multiple types of readers that will find this story and series appealing.
Enjoy and happy reading friends! 🤙🏼💕
Thank you to the author for an early copy of this book! As always, this review is my honest feedback and given voluntarily.
This is a 3.75 for me. I Love Geogia's writings and I enjoyed the 1st book in the series, and I LOVE her other series as well. For me however I just didn't vibe completely with the book. One of the areas is the romance aspect between the two MCs and personally I just didn't feel the chemistry between them romantically or sexually. If this had been a straight fantasy book without the romance, then I probably would have given it a 4/4.25. Though I will say I like the end of the book and how the couple came back together but that was the only time I was like ok these two are a couple I can get behind.
This book focuses a lot on deconstruction around religion and purity culture and then moving on to sexual awakening. None of that is a bad thing. But for where the FMC Aurora was in this journey while she had been working on this for a while with the help of a therapist it kind of felt emotionally, she had barely scratched the surface, and I totally understand that it takes a long time to unlearn and work on a lifetime of toxicity being dumped into a person's head. But what that meant for me was that while reading it sometimes that Aurora was quite literally at times so in her head about things that were happening that it prevented a connection being made with Zane the MMC. That combined with some of the actions of Zane which to me felt a little disingenuous like after a night where he is kicked out of her head because he got sexual gratification and she didn't he realized he had lived down to her expectations of only wanting her for sex and his needs. So, when he has dinner with her in real life at the end he essentially asks to come up and she says no but when she gets to her door there is a box of dildos waiting for her from him. Now this can entirely be a me thing and not how other people would interpret it, but it just felt so disingenuous of him after he came to the realization that he had only used her for sex. That after a nice dinner he wanted to bring things up to the bedroom and if he couldn't do it oh well, he left her some dildos to do it. I liked the characters separately like Aurora I wanted to go kick her dad's ass for all that he did to her, her mother and just for all the BS she went through growing up and in her marriage. It makes my heart break for her and people who in real life have gone through the same thing. With Zane other than a few instances of things he did that I didn't like as an overall person and character I liked him especially at the end with everything he did to make sure he got back to Aurora. That is again when I liked him best because it felt like he had redeemed himself and their connection and love made sense. Now for the plot I really enjoyed the mystery and twists that happened as things unfolded. It really had me guessing as to where it was going and who was the true villain. One thing I know about Georgia's books is that she plots out these twists to always be surprising and I love it. I will also say the side characters in her books are always active in the story line as well and aren't just on the sidelines, so I loved reading all the gods/goddesses, demons/angels having to work together even if it was an attack on the senses lol. It just made it interesting and gave it the enemy of my enemy is my friend vibes. Overall, I like the plot of the book, and I liked a lot of the characters main and side especially Aurora but until the end the romance aspect for me just didn't hit until the end.
This book is about Aurora who on a walk home at night is attacked by a stranger and a creature that should best describe as a demon. What she doesn't know is this attack on her was an unsanctioned one and it has caught the eyes of those in Hell and Heaven. In response to find out what happened a shade by the name of Zane is dispatched to investigate and walk in her dreams to figure out what happened and if her assault really involved a demon. As he invades her dreams to uncover clues of who might be involved in the attack, he starts to learn about more about Aurora who is a complex woman stifled by the religious teachings she had growing up and is working to break free and find her true self. But in trying to get to know her and breaking through the barriers she set up to protect herself she forces him to question his own indifferences that have kept him in Limbo for thousands of years. But when Zane uncovers a twisted plan decades in the making with Rori being the key to preventing the destruction of the very structure of the celestial realms. But with the saving of the realms will come an impossible choice that could change Zane's fate and everything he holds deal.

GEORGIA!!!! This is my second ARC from you and I'm bumping you to the top FIVE of my favorite authors list! I LOVE Beast! I thought it couldn't get any better than that! I was so completely wrong! I am in awe! You tied Sleeper in with Beast so well and I am chomping at the bit for Hunter! I need it NOW! Like a fish needs water!
Ok so Sleeper is a fantasy romance inspired by Sleeping Beauty. Rori is a woman who was raised with a very religious upbringing. Her beliefs are based in purity, humility and praise and worship of God. As a young girl she promises her chastity to her father. When she turns 18 he arranges a marriage to her church's pastor's son who is just a few years older than her. Divorce is heavily frowned upon however, she finds herself getting one after several years of marriage. She moves to a new city and turns her back on every one she has ever known as well as her faith in God.
Zane is a powerful Shade in Asphodel who has been instructed to find it who and what is hunting Rori and also why. He is a merciless celestial who even in his human life has never had any form of connection to another person outside of his younger brother. Being one of the oldest Shades to exist he is extremely strong in his magic and good at closing cases. He's always been professional and kept himself locked away from others but for some reason Rori has a way of getting under his skin like no one ever has.
While he fights to save her life they grow fond of one another and must over come some serious obstacles in order to see if their connection is real.
Sleeper isn’t just a book—it’s an experience I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Georgia C Leigh has crafted a hauntingly beautiful, emotionally charged story that blends dark mythology, romance, and fantasy in a way that’s utterly unforgettable. While it’s a standalone, fans of Beast will love the way the stories intertwine.
Rori and Zane’s chemistry is electric from the start, filled with sharp banter and slow-burning emotional depth. Zane—a shade who can slip into dreams—is as dangerous as he is devoted, and watching him help Rori embrace every part of herself was so deeply satisfying. In return, she becomes his reason to finally care, to fight for more than just survival. Their bond is raw, complex, and achingly romantic.
The worldbuilding is rich and gritty, layered with gods, devils, shades, wraiths, and archangels. It’s a dark fairytale with teeth, loosely inspired by Sleeping Beauty—but don’t expect a Disney retelling. This is a grown-up, myth-infused twist where dreams are dangerous and love is the greatest act of rebellion.
The spice? Perfection. Intimate without overpowering the story, it adds emotional weight and urgency to every touch and glance. Just a heads-up: check the content warnings before diving in.
If you love morally grey love interests, mythological mashups, and romance that feels earned and electric, Sleeper needs to be on your TBR. This one stole my heart—and I’m not asking for it back.
Sleeper by Georgia C Leigh is book two in the Disenchanted Tales. This book was amazing! I couldn’t put it down. I knew I was going to love it for multiple reasons and those being I’m already a fan of the author and it was inspired by my favorite fairytale Sleeping Beauty. But the new spin that’s placed on these characters was interesting and I couldn’t get enough! I adored Rori and Zane’s story as it was full of tension and angst. I couldn’t personally relate to Rori but I could understand her thought process. I absolutely loved Zane, I honestly couldn’t get enough of him. He was tough but could be soft and vulnerable when it came to her. Him not wanting to give up when it came to Rori just did something to my heart. The writing is incredible and the worldbuilding is great as it gives something unique to it. The epilogue was equally as good as the rest of the tale but as I personally want I wished there was more. I will say to check your content because there could be a theme that doesn’t vibe. Overall I had an amazing reading experience which I usually do with this author and I can’t wait for the next book in this series. (The books can be read as standalones) I would highly recommend not only this series but all the other books by this author. Two thumbs way up!
Ms. Leigh is doing her thing with this series. This book is loosely based on the fairytale of Sleeping Beauty. Aurora Rose Briare was attacked by a demon. Yes, you heard that right. A god had to come to earth to investigate the hows and whys of the attack. Theo, the god of dreams, was sent to earth to see if they could determine who attacked Aurora. Things didn’t go as planned. The gods needed to send someone else. Someone who could get into Aurora’s dream and interact with her. He also needed to get to know her outside of the dream world. Zane is a shade and belonged to Nyx, the god of night. Zane Epiales showed up at Aurora’s law office as a visiting lawyer. Zane felt a connection to Aurora. After interacting with her in her dreams, he knew she craved more. Aurora was bound by her previous life. She was taught that anything sexual was a sin outside of marriage. Aurora was divorced and in hiding from her very devout father.
Zane connected with the real Aurora in her dreams. He wanted that Aurora when she was awake. While all of these connections were happening, the gods were still trying figure out why Aurora was attacked. Things aren’t adding up. Someone wants Aurora, and Zane is ready to protect her no matter the cost. Not only does Ms. Leigh give us a mystery, readers get a story of discovery. Through Zane and Theo, Aurora discovers who she truly is. Who she has been hiding. Zane also has a journey of discovery. Despite being given the chance to be reborn, he did not feel worthy. He was a shade and had convinced himself that was the only life he deserved. That’s not all. This Sleeping Beauty retelling is steamy. It gives a new meaning to the world of dreams.
I just finished this ARC, and I'm at a loss for words. I loved Beast and knew that Sleeper was going to be another standalone that eventually became a tie into the Beast storyline. I did not anticipate just how much. Let me say I am not disappointed in anything except that I have to wait for Hunter now. Lol
Rori and Zane def give the bossy, broody, moody vibes in the beginning and eventually turn it into a passionate sexy as hell relationship. I wasn't sure at first if this was going to be a 'why choose' with Theo, but that was quickly dismissed. *pouting* 🤣 There is something about the raw honesty and vulnerability that Zane gives Rori, which makes this story more endearing than a typical quick romance at first sight. The give and take is a balancing act I loved reading.
If you loved Beast, definitely give Sleeper a read because it is just as spicy, if not more!!
Between the Gods, Devils, Shades, and human BS, I'm not sure where the plot twist is going to take us, but I'm so ready to find out!!
(Also, I loved the little tiny bits Georgia included of her life from the orange tabby to the new move. It felt like actually reading something as a fan that I was more connected to... kind of an IYKYK vibe.)

I read the first book Beast, so I could get into the story fairly easily, but someone coming in blind to this one may be a bit confused by the realms, different roles and characters. This book is LOOSELY on Sleeping Beauty with a much darker, spicier twist. I had to really think about the overlap but enjoyed the ride.
What I wasn't expecting was the church/religious abuse part of the story. As a person of faith, sadly I can see this happening, if not to this extent, at a smaller degree with the judgment and expectations on others. It made me sad for the trauma and healing that the FMC had to go through. It also made me mad as a parent that other parents can do harmful things to their own children. I also came away hopeful that we're all broken but we can still find people that support, encourage us, and love us for who we were wonderfully created to be. The way the author was able to pull out the sad, angry, excited, and joyful emotions out of me definitely kept me turning the pages.
There was humor, there was friendship, there was girl power, there was love, and I enjoyed it greatly. Thank you for the ARC!
Aurora(Rori) and Zane's story was so spicy! Rori got attacked by a demon. They send a god to investigate her dreams. Well, Rori booted that god out of her dream. They have to send Zane, he is a shade who can reconstruct dreams. She boots him out as well. He goes back and starts to build trust with her. Rori has a mask on and is completely different in her dreams than she is in the real world. Zane is sent as a human to work with her and finds her to be vastly different, and that intrigues him. He has a mystery to solve and doesn't intend to fall for her, but not everything goes as planned. Rori has secrets he needs to reveal, and he tries in more ways than one! I have never read a Sleeping Beauty retelling, but this book was so good! I didn't want to put it down. Georgia writes an amazing picture of this universe, and the character development is so good! I mean both these characters thought they had no hope and it turns out they found solace in each other.
Georgia's done it again! "Sleeper" is Book 2 in Georgia C. Leigh's "Disenchanted Tales" series. I absolutely LOVE how Georgia specifies in the beginning that this is a not a dark retelling but a dark tale that is INSPIRED by that of Aurora in Sleeping Beauty. I love the spice between Rori and Zane, it is delectably delicious *chef's kiss*. As well as the twists and turns and the archangels and demons. I couldn't help thinking back to Georgia's other series "Shadows and Light" when serephims were brought up.
I am so excited for "Hunter", Book 3 in Georgia C. Leigh's "Disenchanted Tales" series! Thank you Georgia for this addictive series!
This was such a fresh take and retelling of the tale of sleeping beauty. Georgia really outdid herself with her mixing of mythologies and world building to create a truly fascinating world to dive into! Rori and Zane are two deeply complex characters on a crash course with their own issues and each other. Theo throws just the right amount of drama into the mix, and Bela is the devoted and loyal friend everyone wishes they had. This book was truly spectacular and just the right amount of Spicy. I can’t wait to see what Georgia creates next!
If you read Beast, you'll want to read Sleeper next! This retelling was exactly what we needed.
Rori and Zane have witty banter back and forth, and the spice was spicing! Zane is a shade and can walk in dreams to interact with the dreamer. Aurora (Rori) is a human attacked and the gods want to know why.
Great FMC, MMC, and supporting characters, as well. Georgia does not disappoint in any of her world-building, and this story is no exception. Highly recommend not just the series but everything that this woman puts on paper!
Sleeper offers a rich and imaginative spin on the Sleeping Beauty legend, with world-building that can feel complicated at times but ultimately adds depth and intrigue to the story. I enjoyed discovering the clever references to the classic tale woven throughout—each one a fun surprise for fairy-tale fans. The characters’ journeys prove that true love can happen anywhere, even in the most unexpected corners of a dangerous and magical world. A compelling read for those who enjoy fantasy with a familiar twist.
Beast was good but Sleeper was really good! I love the new couple. The story was great. I say this all the time but I love anything demons, angels, etc. Georgia is an amazing writer! I love all of her books and will continue reading anything she writes.
I can’t wait for Hunter! I’m really excited for book 3. They just get better and better as the series progresses.
I will be recommending this series to anyone who loves archangels Demons the war between good and bad with a kick ass love story. Oh, and don’t forgetthe spice wow! Love love it so much . Very well written series from book one to book two can’t wait to read book three. Easy to keep up with the story line and what’s going on 100% will be reading book 3 now I’m gonna have to have all trophies on my shelves.
This is the Disenchanted series and it is a must read!! I highly highly recommend reading it! I love Ms. Georgia’s writing and all of her books!! I love the new couple Rori and Zane and they have lived different lives, but true love can never be stopped and this book absolutely shows that! I can not wait for book 3!! I am hooked on this series just like the Light and shadows series!!

I give this book 4 1/2⭐️ I love how we see the main female character growth, it’s spicy , attention grabbing fun plot twists that you don’t see coming and I’m looking forward for the next one in this series
I could not read this book fast enough! I loved this take on sleeping beauty! Rori was an amazing FMC and everything she went through. Zane was such a good MMC! This entire book was definitely a ride and I was here for it all!! I can’t wait for what’s to come!!
Another unique and genius sleeping beauty retelling! Georgia, you have such an incredible vision in your stories. I love you make your readers really feel for the characters. I can’t wait to read what you come up with next !!!!!
I received the ARC of this book. I did enjoy it. I felt the character growth of both Zane and Rori was excellent. I do feel it did ramble a bit in the middle, but the ending was fantastic!
Georgia has outdone herself! From the responses to understanding of religion to the melding of different celestials, this book had me hooked! Bringing in Morpheus, Nyx, Azazel, Loki, and the fallen Prince of Envy into a “Sleeping Beauty” inspired romantasy is truly genius. After reading chapter 3, I had to email Georgia because the answers Theo gives Rori when she asks about religion really hit home. Warnings: Chapter 23 is on fire! Chapter 37 get the tissues ready!
Absolutely fantastic book! Another win for miss Georgia!! A great surgery that makes you forget you’re reading, she keeps your attention and keeps you guessing. I loved this book

Expanded world building and THANK YOU for a quick hello to Remi in book 2!! Iykyk!!! What a great twisted take on a classic, I truly am hooked on this series too!! The ending was fantastic, with so much truth and adoration! Her father is involved somehow, and so will figure it out!! Zane and Rori forever!!
