Five stranded guests. One lonesome motel. The blizzard outside isn’t the only storm brewing.
Missy watches the blizzard approach her roadside motel with a mix of emotions — dread for the dangerous conditions it brings, and an intense longing for the warmth her late husband used to provide on cold nights like this. But for better or worse, Missy won’t be alone much longer.
Five unexpected guests are headed her way, desperately seeking shelter from the a mortally wounded young man transporting stolen money, two hired guns hot on his trail with orders to bring the money back, and a young woman and her grandmother on a road trip to put the past behind them, totally unprepared for the perilous detour they’re about to take.
The icy roads are treacherous. The neon-red sign is a beacon of safety. But no amount of snow can extinguish this fuse once it’s lit — or bury the secrets unearthed in the blast.
This book, hands down was thrilling and action packed!!! Every moment I was free of obligations, this book was in my hand! I was engrossed in it!
The author has an excellent way of describing every moment in clarity. He is so descriptive and I feel like I’m in it, I feel everything and see it so clearly as if I’m living in it!
I was on the edge of my seat, heart beating frantically waiting to find out what happens next!
I loved this book! I love this Author! His writing is captivating, detailed, descriptive and amazing!
Thank you Beau for your story, for giving me the opportunity to read what that talented mind of yours comes up with! Loved it 🖤
Welcome to The 11th Hour Motel, where these guests enjoy the night from hell. I wasn't sure if any of them were going to make it out alive and I had whiplash from the pace in which this moved. I loved the premise of this and was hoping it wasn't going to be a knock off of Identity but the author took the story in a whole new direction I definitely didn't see coming. The only thing I hated was the ending - that's it?
This book, I REALLY wanted to love it. Page turner for sure, action packed… but there is no story… literally every character has a “background” presented & then zero update on any of them, no closed loops & no connections … it’s odd.
Beau Savage, a new Thriller writer is doing great in writing thrillers. I love his writing. I've read two of his new books and love them Not only are you sitting on the edge of your seat, you are holding your breath wondering what will happen next. As a child to teen at times suspense would get me and I would go to the back of the book and figure it out, then go back to my bookmark and read the book knowing the answer. Not anymore. I finally grew up, I guess, I want the thrill, the edge of my seat, the question of what next or who next. and neither one of his books disappointed. I love this writer, I love the thrillers he wrote, the suspense, all of it! Thank you Beau Savage for my ride on the crazy, scary, wild side in your books!
Over the years, there have been many stories told of hotels where guests check in, but don't check out. Stories, both true and fictitious about people disappearing - their last known location, a seedy roadside motel.
Historically, H.H. Holmes' Murder Castle, the Cecil Hotel's mysterious deaths, Lavinia Fisher and her cups of poisoned tea at the 6-mile Hotel in South Carolina, and any number of tales from the wild-west where whiskey fueled brawls and love-besotted women selling themselves inevitably ends in tragedy - all put what should be an innocuous temporary shelter at the heart of a nightmare.
This book begins in a way that reminds me a little of the movie Identity. Several groups of travelers, each with their own flaws, their own separate purposes, end up stranded in a snow storm at one such seedy road-side motel. What follows is an unsettling night of paranoia, fear, and yes - gruesome death. There may not be any underlying paranormal or psychological plots, but sometimes living flesh-and-blood people with bad intentions can be scarier than anything supernatural.
Let's meet our characters:
Missy - the motel's owner and manager. Possibly insane. Definitely obsessive in a rapey, Misery kind of way.
Jasper - Get-away driver fresh off a robbery with his buddy Wyatt. Wyatt's dead, Jasper's been shot and is in desperate need of medical attention.
Quentin - One of 2 guys chasing Jasper and Wyatt, they're all a part of a crime organization? He's been sent to reclaim the stolen money and 'do away' with Wyatt and Jasper.
Allen - Quentin's partner. Shot in the leg, actually kind of nice? Also mostly useless (even before the leg problem).
Lana - 26. Fleeing a toxic relationship, traveling with her grandmother to scatter her grandfather's ashes. Shallow, kind of a bitch. Pregnant.
Darlene - Lana's grandmother. 72. Never met a shady character she didn't want to have a conversation with. Also has a healthy dose of skepticism about what's really going on in this place.
All of these people are obviously very flawed from the get-go. But those flaws are what make them interesting, even as it makes them sort of unlikable. When their stories converge at the 11th Hour Motel, obviously things begin to go sideways very quickly.
This story was maybe a bit less twisty and turny than I was expecting it to be - but that doesn't mean it was boring or lacked in story telling. There's lots and lots of action, from the very first chapter. Not a dull moment goes by.
Do I think there are things that could have been expanded upon? Oh yes. Some of the characters' backstories and personalities could have been fleshed out to amp up the creep factor for sure - but was it bad that didn't happen? No. I'm satisfied with what we got, just maybe not blown away.
Whatever the case, for a shorter read, it was a fun engaging thriller. I really have no complaints.
This was SOOOO FREAKING GOOD!!! I loved this so much. The only thing I was hoping for was more details at the end on what happened and yada yada but still I LOVED THIS
What a wild ride! A snowstorm forces 5 people to the off highway 11th Hour Motel and its owner, Missy, who is not what she seems. Fast paced story will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This was a strange one. I enjoyed this author’s other book “Night Sweats” so when I came across this and read the blurb about it being a thriller where a bunch of strangers end up at a motel during a blizzard…I was intrigued!
This book was not good. It wasn’t a thriller. A lot of stuff happened yet it felt like nothing happened at all. A random story that made no sense and the entire book was kind of pointless.
A few men who have beef with each other accidentally end up at a motel during a blizzard after having involved a few other random people in their story. The end. No twist. No hidden agenda.
Let me start by saying I don’t give five star ratings unless I absolutely love a book. This book definitely deserves a five star review. I devoured it in one day. I couldn’t put it down.
What I liked about this book was that once I got beyond the initial introductions of all the characters the story moved fast. There was pretty much nonstop action within minutes of them all getting inside their motel rooms. A couple of them are not AT ALL as they appear early on.
What I didn’t like about this book was the lack of back stories for all the characters. We’re told Lana is running away, but not really why. It was the same with Grandma Darlene and why they were headed to their original destination. Who were Jasper and Wyatt? Why did they steal the money? How did they know to steal the money? What’s their connection to Quentin and Allen, who the reader also never learns anything about? Who was their boss, and what did he do to have so much money? Then there’s Missy. With her, I was left with a lot of questions, especially about her late husband.
I’m still rating this 4.5 stars instead of lower because once I started reading, I didn’t want to put the book down until I finished it. I wouldn’t call it a whodunnit because there’s more than one of them, and they’re easy to figure out early on. There’s just a lot of action after, leaving me to wonder until the very end who, if anybody, would survive the night. A couple of parts were kind of sad, and I found myself hoping a bad guy or two would somehow make it out alive.
I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reader’s copy of this book. I loved Savage’s first book, Night Sweats, and was so excited to receive another book!
This was such a creative premise complete with a creepy atmosphere and that edge-of-your-seat feeling I crave in a thriller. I liked the split POVs that slowly revealed more about the characters as the story progressed. I thought it was interesting that almost all of the characters were quite flawed.
SPOILERS BELOW There were a few things I would’ve liked to see fleshed out just a bit more. First, I want to know what the hotel manager did to her husband. I would’ve loved a flashback or some other discovery about it. I also felt like her death was over very quickly and would’ve liked to see just a bit more suspense when it came to that. SPOILERS OVER
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read everything this author writes!

I enjoyed this one — the concept was SUPERB, very much in that Stephen King lane where the ideas are huge, wild, and totally off the charts. But the execution didn’t hit the same way as Night Sweats did for me.
Some parts of the storyline felt unnecessary — especially the whole grandfather/grandmother thread. It honestly felt thrown in at the end because he needed a way to wrap things up. Too rushed. Not fully developed. I kept wondering if I missed something… especially because Jane Oppenheimer always chooses great projects, and when she narrates, I almost assume the book MUST be amazing.
(Because she is, once again, FABULOUS here. Her narration is on point and absolutely elevates the experience.)
I still read it really fast, and the core idea itself is fantastic — it just needed more refinement and a stronger, better-developed ending. Good, worth reading, but definitely not as gripping or tight as his first book.
This book requires a content warning for sexual assault in the course of the narrative.
It's rare that I read a book in a single sitting. Even when I finish a book in a day, there are usually breaks between reading sessions.
This is one of those rare books.
That doesn't reflect my overall enjoyment of the story. There's something odd about a first-person accounting of a criminal killing someone that doesn't work for me. I may have been helped if I had enjoyed the characters more, but I found them inconsistent and confusing.
But something about the Hitchcock (Psycho, in particular) held my attention right through the end. There were definitely points where I felt the story could have been shortened without losing its meaning and the characters could have used better development, but I definitely enjoyed this story enough to read it in one sitting!
I just recently discovered Beau Savage and I am enthralled with his books. I read his first book, Night Sweats, in one sitting. I liked it so much that I immediately bought his next book 11 Hour Motel. Again, read it in one sitting. Beau has that wonderful talent of capturing you from page one, and by page two, you know you will have to cancel any plans for the day as you can't put it down. His plots are fantastic, as are his characters. This book, as well as his last, had the best twists.
Definitely recommend. And, I just discovered Beau has written several horror books under the name Abe Moss, and I looovvvee horror stories. So I guess I'm not going to get anything done for the next month.
This thriller proves that sometimes the most dangerous storms aren't the ones raging outside, but the ones brewing between strangers forced together by it.
The author's skill at juggling multiple perspectives is remarkable. Each character's viewpoint adds another layer to the tension, and as their stories interweave, trust becomes as scarce as visibility in a blizzard.
If you're looking for a thriller that is action-packed and writing that is so vivid you'll find yourself pulling up your collar against an imaginary chill while reading, check into this motel. Just don't expect to check out until you've turned the last page.
This book keep me on edge the entire time and I read it in one day because I was not able to put it down. We follow 5 people as they all end up at the same run down motel on a very dangerous and snow night. While they all seem to have no connection to each other, you slowly learn what they are hiding and maybe fate brought them all to the same place on the same night. To add to the dangers of the storm, the shady motel manager has a few secrets of her own. The question becomes, will they survive the storm or each other and make it through the night.
I was given an advance copy in exchange for an honest review
The 11th Hour Motel follows the perspective and tales of multiple main characters as they all converge into one story piece by piece, all because of a nasty snowstorm and a happenstance open motel in the middle of nowhere. What follows is thrilling and massively unexpected!
This was a good combination of the story you expect from the initial information given and events but also something completely different than what you think will happen as the events start to take their own shapes and personalities. It’s full of interesting characters and suspense of who will make it out alive. Definitely recommend to thriller enjoyers.
Sure! Here's a simple star-style review for *The 11th Hour Motel* by Beau Savage:
---
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ **A dark, gritty gem of a thriller**
*The 11th Hour Motel* pulls you into its suspenseful, neon-lit world from the first page. Beau Savage writes with a sharp, cinematic edge, bringing his broken characters and desolate settings to life with raw intensity. The plot twists kept me guessing, and the motel itself almost feels like a character—creepy, worn down, but unforgettable.
One star off for some pacing issues in the middle, but overall, a haunting and memorable read. If you like noir with heart, this one's worth checking in for the night.
This was definitely an action filled thriller. Certainly gives the reader a reason not to pick up strangers hitchhiking or staying in deserted and seedy motels. This almost had a slight feel of Hitchcock with the motel scenes. The only thing I didn't like as much was all the first person story telling. It caused some overlap and repeated telling. Interesting characters and plot. A little twist and lots of edge of the seat action. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.
This is one of the best thrillers I have read in a longtime. From the very first page, I was hooked. What could possibly go wrong when two women, grandmother and granddaughter, are driving in a blinding snowstorm and suddenly they are flagged down by two men?? The two women decide to let them ride with them to the nearest motel to spend the night. The nearest motel turns out to be the 11th Hour Motel, a rather seedy motel where a lot of strange things happen. This book was so exciting and so suspenseful that I had a hard time putting it down.
“The 11th Hour Motel” has an amazing plot and well developed characters. I truly enjoyed both of these aspects! The story was bloody, thrilling, and entertaining, keeping me hooked throughout.
At times, it was heart-pounding, and I found myself yearning to know more. I wanted to keep reading, but I felt like it needed just a little bit more detail; it was lacking something to make me absolutely love it!
Despite its few shortcomings, I would still recommend checking this one out! It’s a solid read that I know someone will absolutely love.
i was really looking forward to this one, enough that i had a reminder on my calendar of its release! the snowed in, middle of nowhere small town motel vibes is always a favorite of mine for some reason! It wasn't a disappointment, although the characters could probably afford a wee bit more background and it ended rather abruptly and probably needed a bit more thrown in to wrap it up! But i really love the setting, the story and the vibes so all in all, i enjoyed it very much!
