I'm a wife, mother, and bona fide Southern belle. Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.

I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son--a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!

I love homemade tacos, nail polish, and romance novels--not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I adore romances.

I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.

I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twlight series (I'll get to it or I won't, either way I'm good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I'm alone on this last one, and again, I'm good with it.)

Favorite movies--(besides HP) French Kiss, Maid of Honor, A Lot Like Love, Just Married, and Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, and Miss Congeniality, Sabrina (both versions) and a 1940's movie called Dear Ruth. If you haven't seen it, you should! A-dorable. Anything with Doris Day and most all of Marilyn's and Audrey's.

It was fun to return to Miller Creek and read Naomi’s story. But if you haven’t read the other books, you should still be able to enjoy this one.

I felt for both of these main characters. They both thought that they knew what they would or wouldn’t do in the future and had to realize that things definitely change when you find the person you should be with.

Naomi had a hard time letting go of the plans for art school that she had hidden and worked toward for so many years. But her heart began softening to Josias and his boys as she worked for them. And, as for Josias, he was scared of marrying again to a woman who seemed to long to leave the community, just as his first wife had done. Yet, he began to fall for Naomi and see a change in her heart as well.

I definitely enjoyed this story, but I wish it has gone on for a few more chapters or included an epilogue. Just as things began to feel like they were going to work out for Josias and Naomi, the story ended abruptly and I really wanted to see these two together a few months or a year in the future and see how things were going for them.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Another heart warming story by Amy Lillard. The 5 boys and their widowed father are in desperate need of a nanny but Naomi just wants to go to art school in the fall. I loved this Faith filled, sweet story of unexpected love that Naomi didn’t know she wanted or needed. My only wish is that it didn’t end abruptly. Great book. Thank you for this Arc. This is my honest review! #AmyLillard #TheAmishNanny’sSecret

The Amish nanny’s secret

I enjoyed Josias and Naomi story so much. Josias is a single father who needs a nanny. I love reading about him trying to figure out what to feed his children. I enjoyed the children, they were such so cute. Naomi wants to go to art school but not sure if possible. I definitely recommend reading this delightful book.

I received an advanced copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.

This is the third book in a series. It is not stated as such but if you haven’t read Mattie’s story in The Amish Christmas Promise and Edie’s story in The Amish Bachelor’s Promise, then you won’t know most of the characters in this one. I read both of these (but had time in between reading each) and I was still confused. Maybe a character list in the beginning of the book would have helped. That being said, this was probably my least favorite of the series. Obviously this is Christian fiction so there won’t be any love scenes (which I’m fine with) but I didn’t feel anything at all for the two main characters, Naomi and what’s his name… OK, maybe my memory isn’t that great because I just finished this book a couple days ago and I can’t remember the male main character’s name. Ah, Josias. Had to look it up. I love Amy Lillard’s books; she’s actually my favorite author. But this one just had no passion to it. Josias lost his wife and had 5 boys (and there was me trying to remember all those names while reading) and he needed a nanny. So Naomi steps in to do that. Although she was planning on going to art school in the fall. She managed to get her GED at some point prior to the book; how she kept that secret we don’t know. And that just made no sense to me. Why art school? She was supposedly going to come back to the Amish after she finished. And do what with her degree? So much trouble to get a GED so that she could apply, and hadn’t even thought about the cost of art school. Then her father gives her the money to go because it turns out Naomi’s mother was an artist. This makes no sense for an Amish father to willingly push his daughter to go to school. Anyway, it was all for nothing as she and Josias fall in love and decide to get married. Even though there was never any “romance” in the entire book. Just Naomi cooking and cleaning and taking care of the boys. This definitely won’t make me stop reading Amy Lillard’s books (never!) but this one was just a dud. (Sorry Amy, it hurts me to write that, it really does.)

This is Naomi Ebersol's story.
This is Josias Schrock and five little sons's story.
I am going to work this summer as a nanny for Josias Schrock.
Josias Schrock is a good man, her father said.
My favorite quote is
You are so much like your mother, you know.
She had heard this her entire life, how much she favored her mother, the only difference being the blue light in her eyes that her mother didn't have. According to everyone she knew, her mother eyes were as green as bottle glass.
Her father shook his head. Not just in looks. You are so much like her in here. He tapped calloused fingers against his chest where his heartbeat.
I recommend this book.

THE AMISH NANNY’S SECRET by Amy Lillard takes us back to Miller’s Creek and characters we’ve met before along with some new ones. This is Naomi and Josias’ story. He’s a widower with five rambunctious boys and she has dreams of attending an art school in Philadelphia, far from their Amish community. She agrees to be his nanny for the summer to save some more money, but could there be more than art in her life?

There are multiple stories being told and they are woven together nicely. Most of the stories involve their extended families. They are both hard workers and she gets his house cleaned up, organized, takes care of the boys, cooks and other chores a wife would do while he takes care of the animals and the farm. But while he doesn’t have plans to ever marry again, she also doesn’t envision herself ever being a wife and a mother.

There are miscommunications along with some secrets which aren’t true and others that weren’t ready to be revealed. There are family times in the different familial units that added another layer. There are a few unexpected moments and revelations which were nicely portrayed. There is some closure and a happily ever after in the offing but the book ended abruptly. An epilogue would have given me the closure I look for. Ms. Lillard is a favorite author and I always look forward to reading her books.

I rated the book 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.

Naomi Ebersol had a dream that she kept secret all her life. It went against her Amish upbringing & her community would shun her.

Josias Schrock was a widower with five small boys to care for. With his mother and sister out of town, he desperately needed help.

A widower & a woman who needed money to achieve her dream. The solution: Josias hired Naomi as his nanny to care for the boys & the house while school was out for the summer. The boys grew to love her and, even though he didn’t want to, so did Josias.

Naomi’s dream didn’t stay a secret. Everyone was talking about the Amish girl who wanted to go to art school in the big city. She was sure when her father found out he would be very disappointed in her. Instead, he told her that she got her love of art from her mother and showed her drawings her mother had done. Naomi’s father not only gave his blessing for her to go to art school but also offered to pay for it. Needless to say, Naomi was both surprised and grateful.

There was one little problem. While working in the Shrock home, she’d grown to love the boys and Josias. Now she had a dilemma.

Did Naomi go to art school and fulfill her dream or, did she stay and marry Josias? You’ll have to read this well-written page turner to find out.

I really enjoyed "The Amish Nanny's Secret": An Uplifting Inspirational Romance by Amy Lillard. This was a sweet story about love happening when neither partner was looking for love, in fact they were both against it at first. It started out as a business arraignment. None of the characters what it to be a permanent thing. Josias steps in to help Naomi and it backfires; I know why and how this happened and if you pick up a copy and read it for self you can know. From the title you know that the nanny Naomi has a secret, and can she keep it till she can work it out for herself. I really like Amy's books; they leave you with a smile and your heart full of joy. I enjoyed this book, but my heart did ache for the 5 children that lost their mother, maybe because this month is my (decreased) son's birthday and grief is hitting me hard again and will be until after the holidays but that is life, and I like books that deal with real life. This book has a surprise ending with an unexpected action from Naomi's father. A reader just has to remember that this fiction.

The Amish Nanny's Secret is delightful the author has woven secrets, love and healing through every page.
Naomi Ebersol has kept a secret from not only her Amish community, but her family and she's been working on making it come true for herself for several years.
Now she just needs a way to make the money to have it come true as the last step.
Widower Josias Schrock may be just the help she's been praying for as she decides to become a nanny to his five sons and that should help finance her dream.
I had a large family myself and could so relate to the absolute chaos at times you have with children specially a lot of small ones close in age.
He's lost his wife and baby and just wants a nanny for his boys; she's looking to earn money for the summer.
There's no telling where the heart will lead though.
A beautiful story brought to life by the author's charming words I absolutely loved it. Through prayer and reflection healing happens with decisions made.
Looking forward to more by the author.

Just finished this adorable book.
I didn't like how it ended suddenly but I loved Naomi and Josias's story a lot. Times they made snicker and times I wanted to scream. Too much repetitiveness on the one subject that they let the true meaning almost pass them by.
I loved all 5 boys. I couldn't imagine that would've been very easy which was why I felt for Josias. They were the most adorable kids!
I couldn't put this book down or I didn't want to.
I loved the theme of hope, love and family. Family is important. God is important and I appreciated how the different reminders that He is always there. All you need to do is ask!! But He answers prayers just not how we want Him to.
Naomi made me want to laugh sometimes bc what she maybe wanted didn't go with what God had in mind for her. She's perfect example for how things can go awry.
I'm giving this sweet story 5 amazing stars for keeping me smiling through the whole book. I loved every minute of it!
My thanks for a copy of this book I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine e

I loved getting lost in this quick read, I wanted to continue long after the last page was turned.
Now these characters are familiar to me, at least some of them, and we are back with the Ebersol's family. This is Naomi's story, she is wanting so bad to fulfill her dreams, but she is really caught between a rock and a hard place.
Then add in a handsome man, after loosing his wife, he made a vow to never marry again, not common for an Amish man. Add in that Josias Schrock has five little sons, only the oldest in school. He desperately needs help now that his mother is away.
Naomi needs money, and Josias needs help?
Will this Amish girl leave her family and pursue her dream? Or will sparks, other than dislike, fly between these two.
Get caught up on the lives of the Ebersol and Schrock families, and meet the darling little boys! Also you see some interesting meals that make you run in the other direction!

I enjoyed catching up with the Ebersol family in this return visit to Miller's Creek, and I loved learning about Naomi Ebersol's secret wish to attend art school. Taking a job as a nanny to the five Schrock boys would help with the finances, but it also meant being in close contact with their widowed father Josias. It didn't take long to see the special chemistry between them and suddenly, both of their lives were in complete disarray! Josias never wanted to marry again, Naomi yearned for a future away from Miller's Creek, and God seemed to have His own plans. Was a temporary solution becoming something more?

The Amish Nanny's Secret has all the feels: sweet romance that made my heart happy, five adorable little boys who made me laugh out loud, and a reminder that our plans are not always God's plans! Author Amy Lillard shares a heartwarming story for all who enjoy Amish fiction.

I received a complimentary digital copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review.

5 boys + 1 summer job = Pandemonium and Romance...

It's no secret that I enjoy Amy Lillard's Amish fiction. From her cozy mysteries all the way through to her Love Inspired titles like this one. The Amish Nanny's Secret is a sweet story and for me was a relatively quick read. I liked both Naomi and Josias. Both of them feel like genuine people. They stick their feet in their mouths on a somewhat regular basis and they have a good case of miscommunication and assumption going on. However, it was the 5 little boys that made me laugh and quite won my heart. They are too adorable in their childhood mishaps and blunders. However, that childish openness might be just what Naomi and Josias need. Anyway, after reading several fantasy, adventure, and suspense books in a row it was nice to sit back and simply enjoy a sweet romance. Besides, what could go wrong with - and be more fun than - finger paints, burnt oatmeal, and a kitten....

Endearing

It's funny how we sometimes make plans that we are convinced are the right ones, but we don't always seek God's will on those plans. Such just might be the case for Naomi and her plans for art school. She's been able to keep her plans under wraps, but the cat accidentally comes out of the bag. Enter Josiah with a plan to help Naomi, which will, in turn, help his own situation. As a result, they'll both be able to get what they want. What could possibly go wrong?

Naomi and Josiah's story is endearing, and five little people make it even more endearing as well as entertaining. Through it all, love, faith, hope, family, and truly seeking God's will shine through, making this a wonderful and enjoyable story.

I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book. All comments and opinions are entirely my own and voluntary.

Sweet Amish romances have become my go to reads when I need a break from the crazy that is life. THE AMISH NANNY’S SECRET was one such book.

In this wholesome romance we have Josias, a widower and dad to five rambunctious boys and Naomi, strong willed and determined to explore life outside of her community. Together they are oftentimes like oil and vinegar, opposites but the same in all the ways that count. Their individual journeys were very much influenced by their personal experiences and they fought falling in love for all the right reasons. But the heart wants what the heart wants and it wanted these two and five adorable children to be together.

THE AMISH NANNY’S SECRET is a must read romance for lovers of this genre. I’m giving it the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!

Naomi has big plans to attend art school, not exactly what the Amish are supposed to be doing. But it is her biggest dream. She doesn't quite know how she will pay for the school, but has an opportunity to be a nanny for an Amish widower. Josiah has five lively little boys and as she works at his home, it becomes comfortable and maybe a bit more! I really loved this sweet story and the characters were easy to enjoy as they become more accustomed to one another. Naomi has to make some important decisions, both of which can change her life. This was a very enjoyable read and I recommend it!

Naomi has a love of creating art, which is unheard of in the Amish community. Her dream is close to becoming a reality. But there are lots of things to consider not the least of which is the cost for school.
Josias is a widower with five sons and he needs help. He approaches Naomi about a summer job of being a nanny for his boys. That is just the beginning of Naomi’s confusion and indecision.
I enjoyed getting to know these characters, especially the boys. Naomi’s dilemma caused me to really feel for her and her situation. And poor Josias was hanging by a thread. How they all worked together to help each other was really heartwarming.

I enjoyed reading Naomi and Josias story. Such a fun heart touching story as Naomi becomes a nanny for Josias and his five boys despite her not wanting to. Little did Josias know that when he offered Naomi the job, she came with a secret that no one knew, not even her family. Will Josias regret his decision? Will Naomi be excommunicated and lose her job as a nanny if her secret is found out? You will want to get this book as soon as it is published. Amy Lillard is an amazing author and I am never disappointed by her books.

Will an arrangement born out of need become more? All Naomi Ebersol has ever wanted was to go to art school. She has been accepted but this means leaving behind everything she knows. Josias Schrock has lost his wife and is in desperate need of a nanny since his mother and sister are away.
Together they form an agreement: Naomi will nanny while Josias pays her so she can save for art school. When things start to heat up a little, will they both be able to look at a different future? I really love the characters in this book. Josias's five little boys bring a good mischief factor. I look forward to the next. I received an advanced copy through the author. This book is about Naomi, she wants nothing more than to go to art school come fall. But in order to be able to do that, she needs money to pay for tuition.
Josias Schrock's mother and sister are out of town. He really needs some help with his children and around the house. So Naomi will help watch his children and help with things around the home. Now she will be able to save up money to go to art school.
I really enjoyed reading this book, such a sweet page turner. I didn't want it to end. It was very well written and I loved the characters.

What a lovely story about love that wasn't expected. I thought this was a sweet story of two people who were not expected to fall in love. However, one of them has a secret. What kind of secret did the Nanny have? Why was she working as a Nanny at such a young age with five rowdy boys? Read the book to find out. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop. Happy reading!

I loved this wonderful sweet Amish romance. I loved Naomi who is stronger than she knows. I also really loved Josias who lost his wife and is now raising 5 young boys on his own. I enjoyed the laughs I got while Naomi is caring for the five young boys and trying to figure out what she really wants to do with her life. I received a copy of the book and gave an honest opinion.

This book was really really good. Until the ending. Abrupt. I can’t stand an abrupt ending. It ruins the entire book for me. Should have been a 5* book. Amy Lillard is a really talented writer. But she needs to write better endings. You can’t have 15 chapters of angst and then end with one paragraph. An epilogue at least. Somethjng. Anything.
