WHAT IF WE'RE LOOKING FOR ATLANTIS IN THE WRONG PLACE? When Dr. Eva Glass dies protecting an impossible secret, her final message hurls EDEN BLACK into a race for the Eye of the Sahara—an ancient crystal encoded with the secrets of a lost civilization. From motorcycle chases through Marrakech to an underground chamber older than recorded history, Eden must face a rogue scientist determined to use the Eye to resurrect the past. The last time it awakened, a paradise became the Sahara. Now, it could swallow the planet. The stakes are higher, the truth closer, and the price of saving humanity may mean losing one person Eden can’t let go. THE SAHARA EVENT is a pulse-pounding archaeological thriller that asks the question—What if Plato lied to protect us? Maybe Atlantis didn’t sink beneath the waves but was swallowed by the sand.
The Sahara Event Frequently Asked Questions:
What is The Sahara Event about? The Sahara Event asks: what if Atlantis was never swallowed by the sea, but buried beneath the Sahara? The book follows Eden Black from the Caribbean to Marrakesh and deep into the Mauritanian desert as she investigates an ancient source of power hidden beneath the Richat Structure — also known as the Eye of the Sahara. It is a fast-paced archaeological thriller about lost civilisations, ancient technology, and a truth powerful people will do anything to suppress.
What is the object they’re after in The Sahara Event? The central object is a glowing crystal recovered from inside the Richat Structure. The crystal generates energy in ways modern science cannot explain and appears to contain information from a lost civilisation. The idea is inspired by real science around quartz crystal data storage, with researchers suggesting information stored in crystal could last for extraordinary lengths of time. n the story, the crystal suggests that ancient sites like Giza, Angkor Wat, and Stonehenge may have been built from quartz-rich stone for reasons we are only beginning to understand.
Is The Sahara Event based on a true story? Eden’s adventure is fiction, but the book is built around real places, real science, and genuine mysteries. The Richat Structure is a real geological formation in Mauritania, around forty kilometres across and visible from space. Its circular shape has often been compared to Plato’s description of Atlantis. The book also draws on the Green Sahara, a real period when the Sahara was far wetter, with rivers, lakes, and abundant wildlife. Ancient Egyptian imagery shows animals such as giraffes and hippos in regions that are now desert. Other real-world threads include buried river systems beneath the Sahara, the mathematical tilework of Ben Youssef Madrasa in Marrakesh, Penrose-style patterns, and Pomponius Mela’s ancient reference to “Atlantae” on a Roman-era map. As always, the threads are real. The story pulls them together.
Who is Eden Black in The Sahara Event? The Sahara Event is one of Eden Black’s most personal adventures. Long-running questions from earlier books begin to resolve here, including deeper mysteries about who Eden really is and the wider conspiracy surrounding her life. She is also joined by Hamid, a Marrakesh local whose knowledge of the city’s hidden passages and the desert beyond brings warmth, humour, and humanity to the adventure. For readers looking for an archaeological thriller with a strong female lead, Eden is at her most compelling in this book.
Where is The Sahara Event set? The Sahara Event moves from the Caribbean to Marrakesh, Morocco, then across the Atlas Mountains and into the Mauritanian desert. Marrakesh is central to the story, especially its ancient medina, hidden passages, and the Ben Youssef Madrasa, whose intricate tilework carries mathematical patterns that feel far ahead of their time. The trail then leads to the Richat Structure, the Eye of the Sahara — a vast circular formation in Mauritania and one of the most mysterious landscapes on earth.
Is The Sahara Event an archaeological thriller? Yes. The Sahara Event is a fast-paced archaeological thriller about Atlantis, the Richat Structure, ancient power, lost civilisations, hidden knowledge, Marrakesh, and the Sahara. It combines action, ancient mystery, contested science, and global conspiracy in the tradition of Dan Brown, Clive Cussler, Steve Berry, and Graham Hancock-style lost civilisation theories.
Is The Sahara Event clean or family-friendly? Yes. Like the rest of the Eden Black Archaeological Thriller Series, The Sahara Event contains action, danger, and suspense, but nothing gratuitously violent or explicit.
What order should I read the Eden Black books in? The Sahara Event is book seven in the Eden Black Archaeological Thriller Series. The order is: The Ark Files, The Giza Protocol, The Atlantis Agenda, The Titanic Deception, The Templar Enigma, The Lotus Key, and The Sahara Event.

In my books, you'll find yourself transported to places like the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the glitzy skyscrapers of Hong Kong, or the shady backstreets of Kathmandu in Nepal. But it's not just about the locations; my stories are also filled with fascinating characters, unexpected twists, and edge-of-your-seat action.
It was visiting India for the first time that actually made me want to start writing. The sun had just risen as we landed at Mumbai airport. The taxi journey that followed was one of the most incredible of my life. I watched the city unfold like a story. People washing, children playing, chickens, cows, goats, all beside an eight-lane motorway.
I love sharing my stories and am proud to say that my books have been well-received by readers and reviewers. One of the greatest compliments I get is when people say that my books transport them to a new place. Although people often comment on the loveable characters, intricate plots, and fast-paced storytelling too. And I'm always working hard to bring you even more thrilling adventures.
So, if you're looking for a page-turning read that will take you on a journey to far-off lands, look no further than my books. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
Book 7 in this incredible series and we see Eden Black as always in the midst of trouble ( although not as we the reader think ) before she sets off with her team to enter a world of definite ‘real trouble’
The simple way to explain the archaeological finding in this book is it is a power, an energy that could change the world and all we know, of course it is more complex than that but thats how I kept it in my mind
The crystal ( the eye of the Sahara ) is under threat and Eden is tasked with neutralising the threat and got to say all is not as seems, the baddie ‘Irons’ actually has a believable and valid reason for wanting its power and my opinion of him changed, the methods used very crafty as becomes apparent
There is a part in the book where Eden and her team take hospitality from someone only to find it is more than bargained for, a thrilling section of the book which you can only imagine how you would feel!
Eden keeps the dry humour going as do most characters ( loved the reference to opening boxes ) and the story is as always well written and compelling
More of an unusual finish to the authors books than normal but imo a great ending
What can I possibly say to justify how brilliant The Sahara Event is? DYNAMITE, the story has completely blown my mind! Be prepared to have a sleepless night, because once you've started reading it you won't want to put it down.
Book seven in the series but can easily be read as a stand alone.
The eye of the Sahara had been hidden for centuries (with good reason)until two scientists discovered it's whereabouts. A decade later and someone plans to steal it for their own personal gain. Dr Irons (the bad guy)nows the full power that the eye has and will stop at nothing to secure it.
Enter Eden Black and crew who will also stop at nothing to keep the eye safe.
We are taken on a journey to Marrakesh and also the long lost city of Atlantis and boy what a journey it is.
Eden finds out about her past and this is where my mind is blown away. You have to read it to believe it folks!
Exceptional characters with high octane fast-paced action throughout.
Great to see you again Eden and I'm looking forward to the next adventure.
In a plot worthy of Indiana Jones or Lara Croft, deadly events take place at a research facility in The Sahara Event. Only the Director escapes and alerts feisty main character Eden Black, partner Baxter and her Dad, Winslow, who hurry to help rescue the fugitive, courtesy of pilot friend, Nora 'Sierra' Byrd. An international chase follows and the supernatural secrets gradually revealed gave me goosebumps, as this well- researched novel posited a lost civilization's unexpected whereabouts.
The great characters and many twists and turns in the all-action storyline of Luke Richardson's The Sahara Event, gripped me firmly by the imagination throughout, and I can highly recommend this suspenseful adventure - it's unputdownable, so grab it quickly, before it sells out!
As always, Lukes stories start out, packed with action and intrigue. Finding a mysterious stone in the Sahara desert, leading scientist Doctor Glass to work for 10 years trying to discover its properties. Her team in Los Alamos are interrupted by an infiltrator who’s trying to steal the stone. The Dr. neatly escaping calls for Eden and her crew for help. Realizing what has to be done they fly to Marrakesh. The story gets extremely interesting at this point as it’s filled with ancient customs, beautiful scenery, and a phenomenon in the desert. Eden has grown up so much since her debut, working out problems and relationships. She’s now a mature woman who works super diligently to save the world with her secret society. I’m so impressed by the authors depth of knowledge in every book regarding the history and color of the regions where the stories are played out.
A thriller with a twist of the often-asked questions about where Atlantis is. Join Eden Black and her group as they once again try to save mankind from a discovery of the unknows. How much of the reality is perception and suggestion? What is the mystery around the Richart Structure: from where did it come, by whom, and for what purpose? Does the Hamsa signify more than its traditional meaning? From what world did the Eye of the Sahara come? And, exactly what/who is Eden Black? How does the space/time continuum present itself and why? Be ready for a fast-moving page turner with a few storylines that beautifully blend at the end. Not surprisingly, there is a moment of truth you cannot imagine until you’re slapped in the face with it. Enjoy!
Professor Lawrence and Dr. Eva Glass discover a strange, mildly radioactive crystal at the center of the enigmatic Richat Structure, deep in the desert of Mauritania. Ten years later, it’s the subject of a Top Secret research division, a foiled thief attempt, and a deadly chase.
Eden, Baxter, and her team are tasked with recovering the crystal and discovering why it’s so important. Hamid gets really annoying.
Footnote: 1) All roads do NOT lead out of the Jemaa el-fina, it’s just the main shopping plaza and entrance. On Google Maps, Medina is a large area with many other exits.
Fave scenes: the containment flush, the meeting with Lalla Yasmine, the sand room, and the Land Cruiser.
So many stories are running in parallel that even Eden will not see what is coming to her until she faces it and sees her life spinning like mad. The Sahara Event is a breathtaking thriller where questions that plague humanity are in the main plot: why Atlantis disappeared, how were the pyramids built, what's the meaning of Stonehenge, is time travelling possible, why entire civilizations disappeared, and so on. It's fast-paced, full of action as all Eden Black's stories are, written with humor and precise descriptions that'll keep you glued to the book from beginning to end. Highly recommended! I thank the author for this ARC.
The Sahara Event for those that have followed the series, takes Eden Black in to one of her most intriguing adventures to date. From Marrakech to the the Sahara desert, the thrills, chances and danger are relentless. Eden also finds out her own history leading to Atlantis. A fascinating novel that binds both historical fact to a possible future. Luke Richardson has managed to create a story that bends time it's self. Can you turn back time? To find out, this is a must read.
Eden Black thillers, where archeological thriller meets Sci-fi, with a touch of mysticism. This series is unlike any others I've read in the genre. The writing is exemplary as are the plots. They are well researched, bringing the reality of every location and blending it with historical mysteries to create a world so far unimagined. This is pulse-pounding action adventure, so join Eden on her search for Atlantis.
After having read all the novels with Eden Black so far, I sure have a soft spot for team Eden/Baxter, and can’t stop grinning when Byrd joins in . They are amazing characters.
In this exciting thriller the search for a stolen powerful crystal keep you on the edge of your seat. I, for one, had trouble pausing, in order to do some eating or sleeping. Great story, very well written, I loved it !
Also, I was very pleased to hear that the series will continue :)
Through most of the book, I was thoroughly entranced. Great action and characterization in an exotic scene described perfectly. The setting truly lent itself to Thriller tropes.
Then the last chunk of the book dissolved into a repetitive sci-fi like plot of time travel, hero reincarnation, heroine genealogy, and an advanced culture vaguely developed.
With all the promo lead up hype, I expected much more.
A mysterious crystal is stolen from a high security lab. Eden Black and her team are drawn into another thrilling adventure to discover the true resting place of Atlantis. I enjoyed this installment in the series although the science discussed was way over my head. I loved the new character of Hamid who was always ready with the perfect saying or thought. Learning more about Eden's background was also very interesting. I look forward to her next adventure!
Another unbelievable Eden Black mystery, revealing portions of the past on the journey into the future.
Lots of adventure on the ride, twists and turns, danger, revelations, and incredible escapes from danger. The good guys win through, and things are put right, although I doubt that human strength could endure the physical demands. Yet, it is fiction - or is it!
Eden is looking forward to some downtime when she receives an urgent message on a line that no one really knows about. She and her team rushes into the fray. What they find could change human understanding and change the entire world if one man succeeds in his plan. Can Eden and her team stop the plans he put in motion or will the world be forever changed!
Another Eden Black thriller one of the best suggestion's referencing the fabled city of Atlantis totally different then I have seen Along with the regular band of characters, a little bit of romance, and enough bad guys to keep them all busy Surprises all along can't wait for the next book JJ
Another great book from Luke Richardson, I love how Eden's backstory continues to unfold and I really love that she's Atlantian, as someone who believes in and loves the mystery of Atlantis, it's great to read books with an Atlantian link, that could progress into future books. Fantastic and highly recommended 😊
I especially enjoyed the feature treatment of The Eye of the Sahara, which is also featured as one of the natural wonders of the world in Sid Meier's Civilization VI. When I play that game in the future, I will remember this book every time The Eye of the Sahara appears on the map.
Action packed from the beginning. Eden Black receives a call from Dr Eva Glass who is hiding out protection an ancient crystal. The crystal cannot fall into evil hands. A chase to return the crystal while being followed. A page turning thriller.
Puts sand between your toes as the adventure continues. Luke brings the mystery of archeology into a modern thriller. Great settings and characters. Well written and researched. Pack the bags of your mind for a great trip.
Great read as usual keeps you hanging in evens world
Great read again me Richardson great read Eden is just amazing feels she is real and authentic. Recommend read to all we all need another world to be in cannot wait for next adventure
Having read the whole series, this is yet another fantastic chapter in the adventure. Having visited some of the locations, it was a great reminder of what I’m missing, and given me the impetus to return. Thanks Luke…
Still making my mind up about this book really. It gets a bit far fetched for me but was enjoyable and I did learn about the Richat Structure in the Sahara - enough to google it as its IS fascinating. However....
