Having lost his parents, Lapis discovers that he has gained a new family in his friends and after steeling his courage, he departs to find the divine sword of Tumerlin. Being chosen to overthrow Habit is a daunting task and as with any coup, there must be sacrifices made. Lapis is aware of the danger but the possibility of losing his newfound family in order to fulfill his destiny is almost too much to bear.
There was a bit of a time jump in the last few books - one the artist apologized for; they had a bigger plan which they didn't get to show.
What this means is a rushed plot, a lot of characters who apparently have joined the hero along the way but have no purpose aside from being there and not contributing in any way.
Also, one of my big issues was the continuous relationship between Lazuli and Diamond, which was based on the plot simply stating they're into each other and that's it. It didn't feel real. It didn't feel like it was feasible, nor did it make sense for Lazuli especially. But forcing a romance between two characters is nothing new. It just felt extremely underdeveloped throughout the five volumes, culminating here as the fate of the world is decided, pretty much.
The end is rushed and messy. The first three volumes had a pretty good grip but 4 and 5 are merely trying to get from point C to the end while skipping a lot of destinations on the way.
Enjoyble, albeit confusing, and having the story take such a leap isn't what the story deserves.
This is more shojo than yaoi but for my purposes I'm putting it on my yaoi list and tend to chategorize it as such. I'm not a big fan of manwha but this is pretty good!
This book skipped another 4 years. Honestly this entire series could have been much longer than it really was. Such an odd and unexpected ending as well.
