As a fan of Kathleen Donnelly’s romantic suspense series, National Forest K9, I was immediately interested in this new series as soon as I came across it. Actually, the beautiful doggie on the cover immediately caught my eye first and then I saw Donnelly’s name. This is a little different than the other Donnelly series in that the FMC and her K9 partner are Victim Support Specialists for the FBI and not a Search & Rescue (SAR) team for a local police department, sheriffs’ office or national park ranger.

The book summary basically introduces the MC’s Makenna, Mocha and Evan and the primary storyline of two girls going missing and the MC’s clashing over how Makenna and Mocha’s job being just as important as Evan’s, with Makenna having the wonderful moment of being able to say “I told you so” to the prickly and arrogant Evan. Love Mocha and his kind and gentle soul!

There is also a secondary story of Makenna still recovering from being abducted and held hostage when she was 18. Nine years later, her convicted abductor is released and it’s not long before the two girls go missing and the abduction is too much like Makenna’s abduction and escape. Coincidence? Makenna and Evan don’t think so, but a thorough investigation of both the girl’s abduction along with a reinvestigation of Makenna’s abduction reveals some new clues and leads. There is also the insta-love and attraction of Makenna and Evan that kind of take a “front and center” place in the overall story.

The character development of Makenna and Evan was well done, but everyone else was just basically talking heads. The pacing was steady, and the primary storyline was ok. The romance passages kind of interrupted the flow of the story for me and not because of the steamy scenes either. When it comes to romantic suspense stories, I typically prefer stories that lean more towards suspense than romance. If I wanted a steamy romance story, I would read a real steamy romance story. Between this series and Donnelly’s National Forest K9, I prefer the latter, simply because it does lean more towards suspense than romance. Enough said.

I loved Donnelly’s Author’s Notes in the beginning. Donnelly’s experience as a former K9 trainer adds so much credibility to her writing and her love and dedication for dogs, whether they be working, service or pets, allows her to connect to her fans, who like her, love amazing doggies. I’m looking at an overall rating of 3.6 that I’ll be rounding up to a 4star review. I want to thank NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for sending me this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

When it comes to good, solid Romantic-Suspense Harlequin usually does a good job of providing a good read. "Colorado K-9 Rescue" is an okay way to pass the time but the anxiety level was a tad high. I didn't care for a lot of the elements. There were some major plot holes. I never felt I related to the main characters, McKenna and Evan and the whole withholding information stick just made me angry. The plot could have benefited from a few more red herrings as the baddie was fairly easy to spot. One bright spot was Mocha, the dog. He was wonderful and I really wished we could have had his perspective on the whole situation.

Mckenna Parker was kidnapped eight years ago at eighteen from a party, drugged and used in a bizarre game of "Catch and Release" by her kidnapper. She escaped but not without scars both mental and physical. She works at the FBI as a Crisis Victim Specialist along with her dog, Mocha. When two young women are kidnapped after attending a party, Mckenna's experience comes roaring back as some of the details are eerily familiar.

Evan Knox is an FBI Agent on a mission. His last posting almost ended his career, and he is determined to get it back on track. When two women are kidnapped, he comes smack up against someone who could derail his best laid plans. His response to Mckenna is unlike anything he has ever experienced and the need to hold her and keep her safe by any means is totally new to him.

Now it appears that Mckenna's kidnapper is back, and he is stalking her. He left a chilling message that Evan is determined never comes true, but he is going to need Mocha's help to keep Mckenna safe.

This is a Romantic Suspense. I read this book by listening to the audiobook, and I really enjoyed the audiobook. I loved the characters in this book, and I loved the suspense and action in this book. I did not want to put this book down, and I really enjoyed it. I wish the characters talked to each other more. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

This is another book where I was hoping for more of a K9 storyline and in the end, our K9 - Mocha - really ended up just being an after thought. I felt like he was there more for window dressing than as an active part of the plot.

The storyline has us meeting FMC Mckenna Parker who is a Victim's Advocate and works alongside the FBI. McKenna was kidnapped many years ago and managed to escape. Her captor was caught and went to prison but is just now out on parole. Her experience was the main reason that she went into the profession that she is in. Not too long after her captor gets out, there is another kidnapping of 2 teens where 1 teen is able to escape, and the other teen is killed during the attempt. McKenna sees many similarities between the two abductions.

This is where we meet MMC FBI Agent Evan Knox. He is the lead agent on the case of the newest kidnapping. He is known for being difficult to work with and is not too thrilled when McKenna wants to tag along to see if she can help the surviving girl. She ends up telling Agent Knox that she never thought that the man who went to prison was the man who kidnapped her.

Wouldn't you know it, the two end up working together and begin a relationship. This was where I had a couple of issues. This was a complete case of insta-love. I mean, the two of them have been together a day or two and are already throwing around the "L" word. That actually ended up pulling me out of the story several times.

The plot itself was interesting with the kidnapper stepping up his game and many people becoming involved. The narration was done by Rachel Fife and was done well.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the opportunity to listen to and review this Audio ARC. This book will be out for publication on September 30, 2025.

A Great Start To A New Series!!

Yeah a new K9 series!! This one is different, but really good!! Donnelly never disappoints!

Mocha was the best dog!! She helped people who have been through major trauma, like a kidnapping in this story. She helped the girl to open up and talk to the police about what happened to her. Before Mocha the girl wouldn’t speak. Dog’s are amazing. Mocha knew just what to do to comfort the girl.

McKenna is Mocha’s owner and handler. She went through own kidnapping year ago and realizes the similarities in the girls story means it was the same kidnapper. Evan the detective on the case becomes very protective of McKenna and, although he has sworn off relationships, he begins to fall for her.

The mystery was shocking. There were lots of twists and turns. Everything was really well written and the pacing was fast enough that you couldn’t put it down, but not too fast where you lose depth. Donnelly knows how to write a great mystery and she obviously knows dogs!! I’m looking forward to the next book!!

Colorado K-9 Rescue is a great start to what promises to be a captivating and intriguing series. It was intense, had plenty of twists, and kept me riveted. I felt like the romance between McKenna and Evan was a bit forced, but I really felt the chemistry between the two of them and like the relationship they are developing. The suspense was palpable and the suspense of panic was striking. Overall, the book was very good and is an exciting start to a new series. I very much look forward to the next book when it comes out.

I was really interested when I got the Arc for this book, and well, it was interesting. I just couldn't deal with the Fmc. To me, she was annoying and stupid. when she literally held back the license plate number, all I could think was how stupid could you be in regard to your own safety.

Lots of twists and turns, and a good first novel of a new series. McKenna, a victim advocate and her therapy dog Mocha are on a new case with striking similarities to McKenna's own case 8 years prior. Sparks fly with the agent assigned to the case, and it will take all of Evan, McKenna, and Mocha's skills to bring the madman to justice.

Colorado K-9 Rescue begins the Colorado K-9 series with an intense situation as Mckenna, an FBI Victim Specialist, and her partner, Crisis Canine Mocha, must face her deepest fear… the man who kidnapped her, used her in a catch and release deadly game, has been paroled, and she’s convinced he’ll target her once again.

Evan, an FBI Agent with a troubled professional past, is as stoic and focused as a man can be. He’s focusing on a promotion, and nothing will deter him from that goal. His previous assignment left a bitter taste behind, as the whispers and rumors follow him to this day, even though he did nothing wrong; he’s been branded by someone with a vengeance. His current case, a kidnapping of two local girls, one of whom did not survive the ordeal, will bring him into contact with Mckenna and Mocha. Their’s will be a tumultuous relationship, as Evan doesn’t (at first) see the need for a Victim Specialist on this case, and it’s soon obvious that the current case and Mckenna’s kidnapping years ago share a connection.

Colorado K-9 Rescue by Kathleen Donnelly is intense. While there were a few red herrings tossed in, I’ll admit that I didn’t see the final reveal as quickly as I thought I would. Evan and Mckenna’s relationship starts out rocky and standoffish as each has preconceived ideas about the other. Watching them lower their walls, allow the other to see their true selves, and Mckenna’s well-deserved delivery of several “I told you so” moments were priceless. I adored Mocha, who was there for every moment and played a huge part in the ending.

If you enjoy a well-written, tense, emotional Romantic Suspense where you’ll be cheering on a couple who, even though they haven’t known each other long, do seem to fit so well together, then you’d love Colorado K-9 Rescue by Kathleen Donnelly.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley, and I sincerely thank the author or publishing house for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review, giving my personal opinion about this book.*

McKenna Parker became an FBI Victim Support Specialist along with here K-9 partner, Mocha after McKenna decided not to be a frightened victim any longer. She was drugged and kidnapped from a party when she was 18. She never saw her kidnapper's face, but somehow managed to escape. The local law enforcement captured the man they believed had done it. He had just been released from prison a couple of weeks when two more girls disappeared from the same area. Agent Evan Knox is assigned the case. When one of the girls is found alive, McKenna and Mocha are assigned to assist the victim and her family. When McKenna hears her story, it is almost exactly like her own. Even though both she and Evan have sworn off relationships, love conspires to throw them together until neither can deny the attraction. Evan swears to protect her regardless of how it affects his career and she finally has found someone she trusts. When the true kidnapper, who has once again captured McKenna, Evan dusts off his old k-9 handling experience and Mocha, a failed FBI search dog combine their love for her to track her down and nab the perpetrator.
The final scenes to this event are pretty heart-pounding and I felt my blood pressure rising. I am not normally a romance reader, but this one caught my eye because it is set in my beautiful home state of Colorado and I love what law enforcement has been able to do with canine support. The romance it this story worked for me because there was so much tension to start, yet real reasons for them both to change.
Thanks to both NetGalley and Harlequin-Romance for the opportunity to read this. I'll be looking for more by the author!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Colorado K-9 Rescue, the first in a new series from Kathleen Donnelly. I've read her other series, which also features an adorable working K-9.
In this one, the protagonist, McKenna Parker, works for the FBI as a victim specialist. Mocha, her crisis canine, was trained as a tracker but flunked out. However, the black Lab found his niche as a therapy dog and became a devoted pet to McKenna.
When the story opens, she's assigned to help with a kidnapping case. McKenna was abducted eight years earlier, and the man convicted of kidnapping her was recently released from prison. As McKenna and Mocha help the surviving victim tell her story to FBI special agent Evan Knox, McKenna realizes that many of the details of the teen's abduction are similar to her own. She and Even start to believe maybe the same man is at it again. However, to complicate matters, evidence suggests that perhaps the wrong man was punished for the crime.
Working together on the case, McKenna and Evan fall in love. This story has all the tropes of romantic suspense. It's told in third person in alternating points of view, so we see the angst of each: enemies to lovers, the misunderstandings that threaten to rip them apart, the fear of expressing feelings that might not be reciprocated, etc. It gets a bit spicy in one scene.
The mystery and suspense part is well-constructed. I correctly suspected the villain, but a lot of readers will be surprised.
The ending was satisfying, and who couldn't love Mocha? Recommended for readers of romantic suspense and dog lovers.

When FBI Victim Specialist McKenna Parker was a teen she was kidnapped, but survived to tell her story. Her attacker was put behind bars and she attempted to move on with her life, working with K-9 unit dogs and other victims of violent crime.

Agent Evan Knox is on thin ice after some unfair office politics land him in McKenna's branch office. But when more teens are taken, and McKenna's supposed attacker is released from prison, the pair will work together to solve the mystery and give in to their growing attraction.

Mckenna still hasn't overcome her own kidnapping but has dedicated herself to helping other survivors deal with the aftermath. Working with the FBI and her dog, Mocha, her first interaction with the grouchy and cold Agent Knox is when Mocha eats his sandwich. She hopes she never has to work with him. Of course when two girls are kidnapped, she is assigned to work with him.

As the one survivor, Lily, tells her story of what happened, Mckenna relives her own experience as so many of the details match. Two weeks prior to this new kidnapping, the man found guilty of her kidnapping is paroled. Only Mckenna never really believed it was him. Now she and Agent Knox have to find him and try to put the pieces together.

Donnelly crafted a believable, practical character who continues to be strong and fight her own battles in Mckenna. Similarly, Agent Knox's character is well-developed. This is well-written, excellently paced to keep this reader's interest, with tension and romance intermingled with the suspense. Donnelly did a great job of weaving the romance with the danger. I didn't figure out the kidnapper. Besides, who couldn't love a K-9 therapy dog like Mocha?

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in the hopes that I would post an honest review. This has not affected the content of my review in any way.

I thought no book would ever keep me on edge like Tracking a Killer by Elizabeth Goddard. That story gave me such a visceral reaction—the relentless suspense had me hooked, and I didn’t think another book could top that experience.

Enter ‘Colorado K-9 Unit’— coming out September 30. Holy smokes. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. 😱🐾

What I loved:
✨ The way it treated the subject of missing women with compassion and respect—especially bringing attention to missing Indigenous women.
✨ Evan & McKenna’s chemistry— wonderful chemistry that added a layer to the story, but is not the main focus. The story keeps the mystery front and center, which I love.
✨ The twist! I didn’t figure it out until about 80% in. It struck that perfect balance between clever red herrings without dragging things out. But I tell you, the villain is sick and twisted.
✨ The supporting cast—rich, layered, and they made the story feel even more real— and that includes the beautiful and smart lab, Mocha.

This book is everything I look for in romantic suspense: heart-pounding tension, thoughtful storytelling, and K-9 heroes that always steal the show. 🐕💥

If you’ve never tried a K-9 Unit book, consider this your sign—they are so worth it. And this one— GET IT.

Thank you @netgalley, the author, and @harlequinbooks for the ARC.

I am a fan of this author's work in her other series so when this one came out, I needed to read it. I love how Kathleen Donnelly puts the dogs front and center in her books and it shows a real love for dogs in every story.

This is another wonderful romantic suspense book from this author but it is different. Instead of Search and Rescue, Mocha is here to support the Victim Support Specialist department working with the FBI. I loved Mocha and his ability to comfort the young girl in this story as well as McKenna.

The story behind this is as good as the beloved Mocha. McKenna has been through so much and yet still dedicates her life to helping others going through the same sort of ordeal as well as their families. She and Mocha heal others and in the process heal themselves and that speaks a lot to how well this author has researched those who are survivors of crimes like this.

I liked the overlap of her story with the current story unfolding before her. I also really liked the way that Evan started out prickly but was so good for McKenna on her journey to healing. The story itself was a great romantic suspense and I felt it really captured the fear behind crimes like this. I was rooting for them all the entire time to catch the offender.

Holy cow this story will have you on the edge of your seat — especially the second half!! Good amount of twists and turns in this Harlequin romantic suspense novel.

You can’t help but admire McKenna and the strength it takes to overcome her abduction and then turn that experience around to help others. Not only b autofill on the outside but just as much inner beauty. I really liked Evan not just because he’s strong and handsome but despite being a man career focused. I actually applaud him for at least being honest about it - not only to himself but clearly didn’t hide it from others.

Chemistry was good with the characters. An open door romance but not overly detailed, was written respectfully, and author did a good job orchestrating the desire, attraction and connection to each other. No crude or foul language. The K-9 character, Mocha, was an enjoyable character. The romance could’ve had a little more depth/growth to get to know one another better but overall I am satisfied.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin-Romance for the advance copy of the book. All my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

How does one get past a traumatic life experience? That’s what McKenna Parks is doing in Kathleen Donnelly’s “Colorado K-9 Rescue”. After being kidnapped nine years ago, McKenna is now a victim specialist for the FBI with her crisis K-9, a black lab, Mocha. When two 19 year old girls go missing, McKenna and Mocha assist FBI Special Agent Evan Knox to find them and the person(s) who abducted them. Things get interesting when McKenna finds out that the circumstances of her kidnapping and those of the two girls are strikingly similar.

This is a well written, fast paced romantic suspense. The details of a K-9’s life, training and experiences have an authentic vibe. The situations and emotions of the victims have a realistic feel. One can relate to the fun loving, invincible mindsets of teenagers/young adults. Readers who like romantic suspense with a feel good ending will enjoy this book.

I want to thank Harlequin Romance for the electronic copy of this book and for selecting me to review it on NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This suspense romance audiobook will keep the listeners holding their breaths and wondering who is the true criminal.
When she was a teenager, McKenna Parker was abducted. Recovering took a while and nowadays she is an FBI victim specialist working with her K-9 Mocha.
When two teens get abducted McKenna is ready to help. At first, FBI agent Evan Knox is not too thrilled about McKenna’s involvement in the case but soon realizes she’s an asset. Especially when there are many similarities in McKenna’s and the girls’ abduction.
Since the man charged for McKenna’s kidnapping is now out of jail, could it be him the one responsible for both abductions?
As the attraction between McKenna and Evan intensifies, so seems the danger. Especially when wanting to investigate a possible clue, McKenna goes into an isolated area and puts herself in danger.
The story was well developed and the suspense will keep the listeners on their seats.
The narrator, Rachel Fife, brought the story to life.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley and Harlequin Audio. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Big thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the chance to listen and review.

This story had me hooked from the start. I couldn't put it down.
We meet McKenna Parker, a fierce and resilient Victim’s Advocate who works closely with the FBI. Years ago, she was kidnapped and managed to escape a trauma that shaped her entire career. Her captor went to prison, but now he’s out on parole, and suddenly, a new case hits too close to home. Two teens are abducted, one escapes, and the other tragically doesn’t make it. McKenna sees chilling similarities and knows something isn’t right.

Enter FBI Agent Evan Knox.😏 He’s leading the investigation and has a reputation for being, let’s just say, not the easiest guy to work with.
He’s skeptical when McKenna wants in, but she drops a bombshell: she never believed the man who went to prison was actually her kidnapper. That changes everything.

As they work together, sparks fly, and it felt very insta-love, and this isn't really my thing but to each their own, so I went with it.
Now for the narration? Rachel Fife was perfect for McKenna’s character 🎧. She brought depth, vulnerability, and strength to every scene.

A wonderful, easy to read, romantic suspense that will make you laugh, cry, worry, and sigh . . .

Makenna Parker has worked hard to recover from her traumatic kidnapping nine years earlier. She has become an FBI victim specialist working with a crisis K-9, Mocha, as her partner. Now the man found guilty of her kidnapping is released on parole. When two local college age girls go missing, Makenna is assigned to work on the case alongside newcomer FBI Agent Evan Knox. Naturally, the parole and missing teens create havoc in her mind and she fears her kidnapper may come after her again.

Mocha steals several scenes with his antics and his sensitivity to those who have been traumatized: he is an intuitive, gentle, big, brown-eyed Lab who loves his calling. The topics of trauma, fear, and trust are treated with sensitivity and care. The beauty of the Colorado mountains and their surrounding areas are so well written you can visualize them and the traumatic scenes are so realistic that you can see, hear, feel, and smell what the victims are facing.

Kudos to author Kathleen Donnelly for creating this sensitive, touching, romantic suspense!

I had thoroughly enjoyed the previous 3 books in this wonderful series featuring K-9 dogs, so it was a treat to get to read this new installment. I love author Kathleen Donnelly's amazing writing style...she is quite the storyteller!

It was great to catch up with protagonist McKenna, but I have to say that for me, Mocha, the dog was the star of the book. After being dismissed from the FBI, he became a grief dog. Character development was excellent, and the locale descriptions made me feel like I was there.

This book had more than one story to tell. One was very intense and sinister, so I was on pins and needles many times...it was indeed intense! Then there was also a romantic story, which was fun to read.

I am happy to say that it all ended well, which was most satisfying for me,

Thank you, Net Galley, and Harlequin Romantic Suspense for making an advance readers' copy available for me to read and review. I also thank Kathleen Donnely for writing such entertaining books!

Kathleen Donnelly has started a new romantic suspense series with a strong book. In it she displays her strong knowledge of K-9 s and deftly writes a mixture of plot and romance. her protagonist, Mckenna Parker, was kidnapped many years before and escaped. She is now an FBI victim specialist. But when two young girls are kidnapped in the same way that she was, Mckenna wonders about the connection to her past attacker. Is he the same man? She is determined to find him. At the same time FBI Special Agent Knox arrives and is ruggedly handsome and seemingly hiding secrets. They have both sworn off love, but you know they will make an exception. The third major character is Mocha, Mckenna’s dog. Mocha can feel other people’s moods and salves their turmoil. As usual Donnelly writes very knowledgeably about dogs. And the villain? You won’t guess who he is. I certainly didn’t. This is an outstanding beginning to Kathleen’s new romantic suspense series.

McKenna Parker knows trauma firsthand. Years after surviving a brutal kidnapping, she now works as a victim specialist with her loyal crisis canine, Mocha. When two teenage girls are abducted, FBI agent Evan Knox leads the investigation—and McKenna joins the search. But as the case unfolds, echoes of her haunting past begin to resurface, threatening to pull her under. Could she be the killer’s next target?
I found myself holding my breath as I turned each page, right up to the final one. The suspense is gripping, but what truly stayed with me was the emotional bonding between McKenna and Mocha. He’s more than a partner; he’s the heart of the story, and honestly, he steals the show.
Kathleen Donnelly delivers the fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled COLORADO K-9 RESCUE, packed with twists, tension, and just the right touch of romance.
A perfect pick for readers who crave page-turning suspense with heart—and a hero on four paws.

Good mystery!

Mckenna is a counselor attached to the FBI, along with her therapy dog Mocha. Mocha was supposed to be a K-9 officer, but flunked out of training school. He's smart and sweet, though, and devoted to Mckenna. He's also a bit of a troublemaker, and when he decides to help himself to another agent's lunch, Mckenna meets Evan.

Mckenna has a lot of trauma from being kidnapped, and is personally invested when 2 other victims turn up. One didn't survive, but the other did, and Mckenna starts to bond with Lily over their similar experiences. Is it possible they were taken by the same person? Evan is working hard to find out, tracking down every possible lead, while fighting his growing attraction to Mckenna. Will they solve the crime? Do they have a future? Read this to find out!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

In my opinion, this book has it all.

This great author, through her unique gift, created a story that encompasses both fear of arm from a person who has been abducted, sequestered and then, escaped, to the love of that same person for an animal that has helped her get through the tough times and find her goal in life in the service to victims of crimes.

The author further explored and submits the misgivings of early conclusions based on a set of planted evidence that leads to the conviction and imprisonment of an innocent person and the love and support given to the wrongly convicted person by his brother.

Another abduction with a connected death of one of the abductees, will re open, for Mackenna Parker, this old wound and will have her face her demons once and for all while helping the guilt ridden young woman survivor of this ordeal.

Finally to the surprise of her sister, the spread rumors of an office gossip mill against a dedicated investigator , this woman victim/survivor, will find love and not any kind. She will find love that is fully shared by this investigator.

Years ago McKenna Parker was kidnapped from a party. McKenna broke a window out and escaped. The man was captured, tried, and sentenced to eight years. Now McKenna is a FBI victim specialist and her dog Mocha is crisis dog. Her abductors parole hearing is coming up but she doesn’t go and he is released early. McKenna is partnered up with FBI agent Evan Knox, when two girls disappear. Evan is known for his grumpy attitude and rather work by himself. The more they work together, the sparks fly and it’s not long until they are sleeping together. When McKenna disappears, Evan uses Mocha to help find her.
Steamy. Action. Suspense. Evan is more concerned about moving up in the FBI but McKenna changes that for him. McKenna doesn’t trust easily and is keeping a couple of secrets.

Colorado K-9 Rescue centers around McKenna, a victim advocate for the FBI, and her
lovable canine companion, Mocha. Having experienced her own trauma at
18, McKenna truly understands the overwhelming feelings that comes with
being a victim in the presence of police and media.

The introduction of Agent Evan Knox adds an interesting dynamic to the
narrative. He’s not only striking but also carries a serious demeanor,
seemingly devoid of small talk. Their relationship takes a compelling
turn as they get involved in a kidnapping case involving two young women a case that resonates deeply with McKenna’s past.

As the investigation unfolds, the tension between McKenna and Agent Knox grows,
making for an intense and intriguing storyline. I was thoroughly engaged from start to finish!

I'm a sucker for a once-a-month romance read. And I devour the suspense genre. Throw them together and add a dog, and there's no way the book will take longer than a day or two for me to finish.

Kathleen Donnelly’s "Colorado K-9 Rescue" was no exception. She captured the same pulse-pounding blend of danger and desire that fans of Nora Roberts’ "The Obsession" will recognize, yet made the novel stand apart with a fresh Rocky Mountain setting and authentic portrayal of FBI work with a crisis dog.

Mckenna Parker’s courage, born of fear, and Evan Knox’s stoic determination create a partnership (eventually), both professionally and emotionally. Donnelly’s crisp prose and emotional depth give the story a unique voice while staying true to the best traditions of romantic suspense. The result? A tense but heartfelt read where justice, love, and loyalty are in a battle with evil!

McKenna’s nightmare has come true, the person prosecuted for her kidnapping when she was a teen, is out on parole, and the disappearances start again. As McKenna’s hears what the victim says while there with victim support dog Mocha and FBI agent Evan about her ordeal. McKenna starts to see the similarities with her kidnapping but no one takes her seriously until she disappears again, and Even with Mocha’s help must put the pieces together before it is to late.
I really liked hearing this story as Mocha is not the typical K9 one would experience in connection with law enforcement. But Mocha has a few tricks up her sleeve as they all find out. I really enjoyed the voice actor that narrated this audio the voice really just worked for me as McKenna’s. This book is a clean, refreshing, fast pace, suspenseful thriller. This audio does not disappoint

A wonderful setting for a book. Years after surviving her own abduction, McKenna has become a victim advocate. Along with her K-9, Mocha, she visits victim and helps them navigate the unknow. Agent Evan Knox is well know for his quiet, standoffish deminer. Their lives are thrust together when two more girls are abducted in the same way that McKenna was years before. It looks like it was the same person, but McKenna, who had doubts before, is not so sure. As their worlds are thrust together, McKenna and Evan start to realize each is not who they thought the other was, but they will have to solve the mystery if McKenna is ever going to be safe. A great mystery with a sweet growing romance. Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin for the advanced copy.
