The moment I laid eyes on Aurora, I knew she was mine…
That still didn’t stop me from screwing up our relationship.
Now she’s single again and on the cover of Sports Illustrated for the entire world to see.
But it’s only when I witness the way she looks at Ethan Blackwood that I decide to get clean. No more alcohol or drugs. Leave my temper on the ice.
And as much as I hate Ethan, my new coach is the only one who can stop the destructive influence my corrupt father has over me and my hockey career.
When I bump into Aurora out of the blue, it feels like destiny. Until I learn she’s pregnant. Everyone thinks the baby is mine, except I know the truth. It can’t be.
It’s Ethan’s, and he’s refusing to walk away. But if anyone discovers our secret, it will destroy both our careers and the team.
So, I’ll play the game. And everyone knows that Jackson O’Reilly always plays to win…
Jessica Lyn is a dark romance author who loves hockey, the mountains, and snow. She lives on the Oregon Coast with her family and a never-ending list of pets. Her stories, initially chart-topping Kindle Vella serials, are influenced by a decade-long career in psych triage. Outside of writing, she's into reading, traveling, crime docs, and a strong cup of tea.
***This is a series, and this book ends on an emotional cliffhanger. Please wait to read the whole series, or at least the second book, before forming solid opinions about the characters. I promise there is a whole lot more to the story, and things come together beautifully.***
Hot with a great plot! You will love the characters, want to slap them, and then love them again. They have weaknesses and insecurities, like everyone else. There is top notch banter and comedy. It's a beautiful story. I highly recommend giving it a chance. You won't regret it! Oh and the spice...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
*I initially read this on Kindle Novella, and then Patreon with edits. Can't wait for the whole series to come out.
Starting reading this back when it was on Vella (RIP) and this honestly opened eyes to the whole RH genre lol.
Aurora (h) is a struggling model. Her grandmother had a stroke and she's struggling to pay the bills to rehabilitate her. She ends up having to take a job for an escort agency to pay them bills. So the story opens with her being picked up as Ethan's (H1) date, he's a retired hockey player who's eyeing a coaching job on the west coast. He is also married at the time to a cheating wife (she doesn't know he knows, but she's sleeping with one of the other coaches he works with). So she comes as his date to a charity event, where they run into the team that Ethan is hoping to coach. Enter Jackson (H2), he's Aurora's ex. The circumstances behind their breakup is vague. He disappears for a bit and h moved out of their penthouse apartment. She thinks he's cheating cause that's what her BFF (Emily?) gassed her up with. He didn't cheat on her, but has a serious substance abuse problem and daddy issues, so the actual circumstances of their break up are explained later. Anyways, Jackson is instantly jealous of Ethan and doesn't want Aurora doing this job, he's offering to pay her bills and she feels she can't trust him.
So Ethan interjects and stands up for her. Ethan and Jackson are already at odds. The night ends with Ethan and Aurora hooking up in the limo, but then he ruins it cause he freaks out, because he realizes the condom is expired. Realizes this could impact his divorce proceedings if his wife finds out. Aurora is like wow men suck and leaves. Like literally right after this her modeling career takes off and she's booked and jet-setting for the next few months. So Ethan can't even see her again and apologize although he wants to. He does get the job coaching Jackson's team and decides to go ahead and file for divorce.
Meanwhile, Jackson is stalking and commenting on all of Aurora's socials trying to get her back. BUT Aurora doesn't feel well and suddenly realizes she's pregnant. She distraught because she's finally successful and doesn't think she can rely on Ethan (since she think's he's married and doesn't want commitment). So yeah, she's decides she wants to keep the baby and is getting ready to do this herself when she runs into Jackson at one of their favorite resorts. He realizes she's pregnant and some guy almost bumped into her so he has a freak out while he's protective of her. This ends up all over the news and Ethan realizes she might be pregnant with his kid..
Honestly, the dynamic between these three was so cute and felt real. They have one of the most realistic sets up for an RH. It works cause Ethan is older (30s) and Aurora and Jackson are a lot younger (early to mid 20s). Although Jackson and Ethan are initially at odds, they end up respecting each other. Ethan is the only coach that has even treated Jackson as a real person and not just a tool to make money. He genuinely cares about his mental and d physical well being; actually stands on business for him. Particularly when dealing with Jackson's batshit crazy dad, Kyle.
Loved Aurora and Jackson's unconditional love for each other, and the way he spoils her. He instantly accepts her baby as HIS, starts spoiling her even more and planning their life out, encourages Ethan to reach out to Aurora. Also loved Ethan's acceptance of that dynamic and his effort to push past his own relationship hangups.
This is a flawed trio who are working through their own demons, but also building a tantalizing relationship together. The banter and spice is SO top tier. I really love their chemistry. I've re-read this so many times too.
Also be forewarned, the harem probably isn't complete and one more H will be added haha. This starts off f as MFM, but looks like it's gonna end up being MFMM. There's a lot of discussion of mental health and substance abuse, so be forewarned if that's triggering for you.
I think this book has REALLY amazing potential and has great bones! I just don’t know if I really understood what was happening half the time? There were a couple times I thought I’d maybe missed large chunks of the story or accidentally skipped chapters because of the plot holes
Triple Power Play by Jessica Lyn Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Spice Rating:🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
📚 My Thoughts: Triple Power Play is a second-chance/ Why choose romance about Jackson O’Reilly, a troubled hockey player determined to win back the woman he lost Aurora. After a painful breakup and personal struggles with addiction and anger, Jackson gets clean and unexpectedly reunites with Aurora, who is now pregnant and alone. Though the baby isn’t his it's his head coach Ethan Blackwood’s. Jackson steps in, willing to be the support Aurora needs. With love, rivalry, and high stakes on the line, Jackson is ready to fight for Aurora and prove he’s the man she and the baby can count on.
This is my first time reading a book by Jessica Lyn and I will continue to read more of her books. I was hooked from the beginning to the end of the book. The book was a fast paced book. I loved how they were both protective of her but I felt like Jackson was just a little more obsessive about her. The book does leave off on a cliffhanger so I’m excited for the second book.
Tropes: 🩵Why Choose 🏒Hockey Romance 🩵Second Chance 🏒Age Gap 🩵Touch her and ☠️ Trope 🏒Substance Abuse 🩵Accidental Pregnancy
*MFM *Contemporary *Multi-1st-PoV *Insta-Love *Dark Themes *Hockey Romance *Second Chance Romance *Pregnancy *Building Harem *Fast Burn *Book 1/3 Rollercoaster read! Thoroughly enjoyed this read and very much looking forward to the next one. The author acknowledges this was a serial read originally and you can tell in how fast paced this, the high drama level, and the quick high celerity connection between them all 😃 if you’re good with that then this is definitely a worthwhile read from a new author! Aurora is our FMC, sweet with the world on her shoulders and fiercely needs her independence 🥰 her first love Jax the star hockey player absolutely adores her in an obsessive be mine forever way, yet he has his own demons that have thrown their whole lives awry 😠 queue Ethan, his broody but is knocked head over heels for our girl and one night brings a whole new dimension to their connection however his behaviour may have jeopardised any chances of a future 😖 this poor girl is stuck between a rock and a hard place with these two men and her baby to think off…although they adore her 😍 they absolutely need to get their heads in straight, yet with that cliffhanger it may never happen 😱
I haven't been able to stop thinking about these 3. Instantly, Jackson is obsessed in love, down bad for Aurora. He's the hockey bad boy who wants to consume Aurorad time and take care of her. Aurora has had a rough go at life and loves the attention, just isn't sure she deserves it.
We flash forward quick and she's attending a hockey gala with Ethan, a married hockey coach-for the team her ex Jackson is on. Yes, ex 👀 Ethan gives in to his temptation with Aurora, that's that. I loved how up and down this story was.
She shoots to supermodel status after that night and her life is looking good-till she runs into her ex and finds out she's pregnant.
Jackson and Ethan are totally different ,but they work well together as, dare I say friends? Ethan helped Jackson when he was a mess. For being jealous and possesive, these two are okay, with Aurora being with them both. That ending was nuts and I'm scratching my head saying no way did that happen.. some shady people hanging around these 3. I cannot wait for the next book!
tropes: 🏒 hockey romance 🏒 MFM 🏒 insta love 🏒 second chance 🏒 substance @bu$e
OHYMGOD? okay, before starting this book i was starting to feel slumpy but this woke me right up! it was very quick paced and a shorter read.
we have aurora, who recently got out of toxic relationship and is struggling to balance her life while also trying to make money for personal issues going on. you’d think you’d hate her toxic ex, but he has layers as deep as onions 🤌🏽 i personally loved him and he had me laughing at his inner thoughts. all while dealing with him and their past, aurora finds herself in a situation she can’t avoid … with her ex’s team coach 🫢
i NEED book 2 to come out because the ending of book one HURT. i need to see a HEA for all these characters!! also i spy a little something i hope jessica pushes further into in book 2 👀
thank you to jessica lyn and greys promo for the arc! all thoughts and opinions are my own
Oh. My. God. I won’t lie, I have been obsessed about this book since I saw the cover. After reading it my obsession has only grown. This love triangle turned why choose, seriously couldn’t have been any better. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down once I started. Jackson is everything you’d expect in a star hockey player, minus a few things he doesn’t reveal. Ethan is a bit more closed off, but as things go on we find out more and he’s very level headed - mostly - and can navigate situations. Aurora is honestly one of the strongest people, she’s been through a lot, but still strives to fight for everything she wants out of life. You can feel all of the emotion and tension between everyone as the story plays out and it will have you wanting more. It does end on a cliffhanger, and I’m so ready for part two!
While I overall did enjoy this there were a couple of issues for me. The set up was fantastic. We got a quick and spicy intro to the characters and all of their drama which I loved and set the stage really well for the rest of the book. The plot was really interesting and the spice was SPICING. Where I had issues was the speed.
Everything happens so quickly that I feel a lot is left out. I have so many unanswered questions about the characters themselves. I was just left wanting a lot more.
The author states at the end that the next book is twice as long so I’ll definitely be picking that up. The ending was set up for it to go several different ways so I’m excited to see which lane it takes.
Thank you to the author and Grey’s Promo for the gifted arc
Oh my gosh. Firstly, thank you Grey’s promotion and to the author for sending me an arc copy of this book!
This book was SO good. That cliffhanger though…. I am going to be thinking about that everyday until the next book comes out.
This is a hockey romance with darker themes so do protect your mental health and check trigger warnings before reading! If you know me you know I love hockey romances. This book is super fast paced. It’s insta love. It’s told from three different pov’s Aurora, Ethan and Jackson. I cannot wait to read the rest of this trilogy and I’m so so excited for everyone else to read this!!
Thankyou Greys Promo and Kenna King for the opportunity to read and review.
This book does have triggers, so please read before commencing. Triple Power Place contains 2 mmc (Ethan and Jackson) and 1 fmc (aurora), there is sexual relations between auror and Jackson, and auror and Ethan.
I can't wait for book 2, with the cliffhanger we are left on in book 1 it's going to be hard to wait.
Absolutely obsessed and hooked on this book! What a start to this series and an incredible ending that left me reeling for more!!
This book Have my attention from the beginning now I’m irrevocably hooked!

TRIPLE POWER PLAY A WHY CHOOSE HOCKEY ROMANCE Obsessed Players Club- Book 1
This book has been circling my tbr list since it came out, I decided it was time to dive in. Now I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I loved it. You have a love triangle, a way over the top, messed up bad boy, a broken man, a girl who so needs love, and a hilarious granny. I couldn't put it down. I so want to see more of the hot body guard please. Anyhoo, loved it and can't wait for the next one
I’m not going to lie and act like I didnt pick this book up (hell- like I didn’t PURCHASE the discreet paperback and then the model paperback before I’d even read it) because of the cover. I dunno who/how the author came up with that cover but hot damn…. I was sold based on that alone.
The book? Even freaking better.
Honestly I couldn’t put it down.. I am an absolute savage for hockey, any kind of obsession/insta love, second chance and pregnancy trope. I knew this was gonna have all those so I was on it like I would have died had I not read it the MOMENT it was released.
And hot damn.
The characters were fantastic. The spice was hot AF. I honestly wasn’t sure how I was gonna like the MFM (because of the side relationships both heroes had. I had heard one of them was married and i normally can’t stand that, but the author did a great job) but it was even better than I’d hoped it would be. I had NO IDEA it wasn’t a standalone so while I was KICKING myself for jumping in without realizing, I was about halfway through when it became pretty obvious it was going to be more than one book. And honestly… fair. I would probably read 5 more books if the author decided to make it a longer series😂
The relationships were fantastic. It wasnt just a player/FMC or a coach/FMC. It was BOTH and one of the guys was her ex! To navigate not only the romantic relationship between the heroine and the MMCs, but also their interpersonal AND workplace relationships was brilliant. It was absolutely something I’ve never read before and I loved it. The angst was on point, and the guys were was OTT JP and also Im obsessed with Jackson. Ethan? GAH yes please! There was sooo much going on in this story but it just somehow WORKED.
Jackson and Ethan are two total opposite sides of a coin— but Aurora needs them both tbh. The fact that Ethan was looking out for Jackson when he was at his lowest was so perfect. I NEED book 2 so bad because the cliffhanger was🫣
Oy, that Cliffy! I smell Kyle had something to do with it…
Okay, this book honestly took off like a bullet! Jackson and Aurora instantly connect and have a tumultuous 2 year relationship (so we infer from the book). After they break up, Aurora meets Ethan (Jax' new hockey coach) and one unfortunate broken condom leads us to where we find ourselves in this book.
The two MMCs can't be more different. Jax is obsessive, an addict, and comes from a broken home (with a sh!tty father). His relationship with Aurora is pretty toxic the first go around (honestly, it's not much better this time around, either, but he's trying). He has his secrets, but never stopped loving Aurora with everything he is and more. He instantly loves Aurora's baby (even though he knows it's not his) and accepts Ethan into their lives because that's what Aurora wants and he's willing to do anything to do right by her this time. But...old habits die hard.
Ethan has an unfortunate first meeting with Aurora but is instantly enamored with her and can't stop thinking about her afterwards. Once he finds out she's pregnant with his baby, all bets are off. Even though he doesn't like Jax, he takes his time working with him and helping him get sober and they become friends of sorts. the banter between the two of them is so much fun.
I'm not into all this instalove stuff, but since this was originally written as a serial read (per the author at the beginning of the book) and it's book 1 of 3 I can look past it enough to fully appreciate it.
This book ends on a wild freaking cliffy and I'm sad I have to wait to find out what's going on. Something is definitely rotten in the state of Denmark here and it smell like Kyle!
Thank you, Jessica Lyn and Grey's Promotion for the ARC. I can't wait for book 2!
Complex Characters with praise kink in a why choose... what more do you want!?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶
This is a book like no other! I love the complexity of each of the characters!
Jax having addiction issues is wrote so well. It highlights how not only is it hard on those around to see a loved one go through it, but also how hard it is for the individual to keep control of themselves. It's a true battle!
Ethan is such a kind hearted Dom, I friggin love him! His character has his own baggage and insecurities but he's also solid and dependable. And his bedroom talk 🥵 will have you wanting it to be you he's manhandling.
Aurora starts as a young, timid, shy, nieve gal and you see her grow throughout the book. She learns her place in the world, she learns what she really desires in life and how to go about reaching that goal.
And I can't forget about Ricky! He's a secondary character but by the gods, did I fall for him almost as much as the MC Ethan! Broody, compassionate, caring, supportive and described as a friggin God with tatts!
I don't love one of the relationships as its very toxic, yet it's actually relatable. And in some ways, you are still rooting for them to work! I can also see where the story might lead in book 2 with them potentially healing each other.
But I am obsessed with the triple dynamic!! I love a natural non-monogamous relationship! The banter, the support, the "fights" it's all so engaging. I was laughing out loud numerous times!!
One negative from me... That damn ending! 🙈 It left me hanging, heart racing going... "NOOOOO!" I have a feeling I know what happened there and hope I'm right and all will be revealed in the next book! ... I need book 2 NOW already 😂😂🥵🙈
I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down, I was hooked from the start. It’s fast paced which I loved, we get straight to the spicy goodness.
If you love your book boyfriends obsessive then you will love Jackson. This man falls hard and fast but he is also dealing with some addiction habits, which causes problems between him and Aurora.
After things end with Jackson, Aurora meets Ethan while working as an escort…. She needs the money for her grandmas care home. Ethan is older but they have an instant connection, one that leads to a one night stand and a Oopsie baby!
When Jackson finds out Aurora is pregnant he becomes even more determined to win her back and he’s more than happy to raise the baby. But imagine his surprise when he finds out his new coach is the baby’s father.
I don’t wanna give away more than that but there’s some great banter and spicy moments as these three navigate their complicated relationships.
That cliffhanger was brutal! I just wanna read book 2 now.
** SPOILERS AND HONEST ARC REVIEW, PROCEED WITH CAUTION **
This had potential, two interesting MMCs in their own right both dealing with previous trauma and weighty decisions and a FMC who has a big heart but is a bit lost.
I don't think this falls into either dark romance or why choose categories at this stage but that could come with the additional book or books yet to be released.
I really struggled with the depiction of pregnancy in this book because there were no facts associated with the timeline. In the early stages of pregnancy (8-9 weeks) you cannot see any facial features of a baby regardless if it's an ultrasound or a 4D image, as well as the gender as it's not physiologically possible. Along with other false assumptions about pregnancy throughout the book. This is something that cannot be altered in a fictional romance that doesn't contain any paranormal elements and unfortunately it has caused my rating and enjoyment of this book to be lower.
I am loving all these new authors, and this one did not disappoint. I was completely engrossed in the story, and the narrators did a fantastic job of pulling me in 🎧 That ending had me scrambling to find the next book, I’m so glad the audiobook came out the next day!
I went into this book blind, expecting a straightforward M/F romance, but then another person was introduced, and it clicked, triple play! Now I’m on book 2, and who knows… maybe there will be three guys eventually 😅
The relationships in this book were so deep. Jackson and Aurora have a soulmate-level connection, he is obsessed with her and will support her no matter what 💖 The way he stood by her was so sweet. Ethan and Aurora’s relationship is still new, but I can see it blossoming; Ethan just needs to stop overthinking. I also loved seeing the bond and dynamic between Jackson and Ethan, their relationship is full of trust, loyalty, and respect, which makes the whole trio stronger.
I cannot wait to see where the story goes because that ending was devastating for Aurora and her men 😭 It changed so much, and I just need them all to be okay. With two men involved, there’s more spice 🌶️, and I’m guessing book 2 will bring even more. If you like a broken MMC, a hockey player, a coach, and a supermodel with a touch of the pregnancy trope, this is the book for you 🏒💖
A why choose, hockey romance with obsessive, morally grey MMC's, forbidden romance and hilarious banter - Triple Power Play is bloody brilliant.
This book...
There is something about this book that completely took over my emotions. The dynamic between the main characters is intense, the way their lives interconnect with each other creates the perfect level of tension and "will they/won't they".
Aurora, young, sweet, virginal and just wants to make a better life for herself without relying on someone else. She's a delicate mix of innocence and strength and all she wants is to do the right thing by the people she loves. Her struggle to say no to people makes her seem adorably naïve - but is she really?
Jackson, tall, blond, muscular, tattooed and famous. Grade A celebrity asshole that believes that just because he's famous and adored by everyone he can do and have whatever and whoever he wants. His internal battle is emotionally raw and watching his own development within the story adds for more beautiful trauma bonding between him and Ethan.
Ethan, hockey coach, older guy, well built and ruggedly handsome. His life is a mess but he's almost the perfect gentleman. The way he cares about both Jackson and Aurora is almost father like (not in a creepy way though) The banter between Jackson and Ethan is delicious and full of sarcasm, age jokes and a hint of jealousy (from both directions).
The way the men come together to support and care for Aurora is so sweet and compassionate, it's hard to understand at times why they seem so against each other.
Jackson's father, Kyle, is featured heavily and I would say, he's the villain from the moment you read his first appearance. Corrupt, vile, cashing in on his celebrity son but influential enough to cause big problems if he starts throwing his weight around. The man makes my skin crawl just reading his presence.
Jessica has done a fabulous job creating a narrative that flows well, creates tension and makes you fall in love with the main characters (even when they are being obnoxious and stupid). I found myself laughing out loud, crying and shouting at certain behaviour from all 3 of them.
I will prewarn you... book one ends on a cliff-hanger that left me screaming at my kindle, but it's totally worth it for the plot.
The spice is *chef's kiss* and there is plenty of it. The obsessive, cant live without each other vibe between Aurora and Jackson is stunning and perfectly balanced against the dominant, be a good girl vibe from Ethan.
Total 5 star read for me and I cannot wait to read book 2 as part of Jessica Lyn's Street Team. I give it 4 chilli's for the amount of spicey scenes, the D/s dynamic and kink related elements.
While there were a few things I didn’t love all the time, this was still a really enjoyable read, and I will absolutely be waiting for the next book. Aurora’s portrayal felt a little repetitive at times, and the same goes for Jax, but beyond that, I had a great time with this story.
Now, let me tell you—the spice? It’s spicing—and it’s HOT. Who knew the whole overbearing “I provide and protect” man-cave energy could be this attractive? (Oh wait… we all knew.)
Heads up—it does end on a cliffhanger, which I hated because I was so invested. But I’m definitely looking forward to diving deeper into these characters’ relationships and seeing how Jax is going to recover from that ending.
Also, this book tackles some heavy topics, so be sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in!
If you love possessive men, sizzling tension, and a story that won’t let you go—this one’s for you!
Look I’m giving this book five stars solely based on the fact that I ate it up in almost only one sitting. Then woke up at 5am the next morning to finish the last 10% 😆 this book is chaotic and messy and the MMCs (yes plural) are delightfully flawed. I could not put it down. It’s a “dark” romance and yes there are some darker themes but honestly the FMC Aurora keeps the store beautifully heartwarming as well and you can’t help wanting her to be protected at all costs. The book ends on a heartbreaking cliffhanger and book two is going to be a must read.
For my first smutty sports book, I'm happy! This is a relatively new genre to me, and hugely hyped by my bestie. She was right, I've been missing out not reading these genres 🤣
This book was full of emotional drama and SPIIICE. Great if you're looking for a why choose / alpha males type sports romance.
I did not want to put this down! I usually fear lack of character development with insta-love but man oh man there is so much. I loved seeing each of their relationships evolve, and I still have so many questions! The ending has me absolutely shook and I am foaming at the mouth for book 2!!!
“Well, you’re in luck. I have everything you book girls go feral over. I’m six-three, play a professional sport, have tattoos and a motorcycle, and I’m cocky. So let’s make a fairy tale, princess.”
Wow! Just finished the ARC for Triple Power Play by Jessica Lyn and I am now desperately waiting for the next book.
This story pulled me in and I cannot wait to see what happens next with this MFM, Why Choose, dark hockey romance.
I did not see the story going in the direction it did and devoured this book in one sitting. Jackson, Aurora and Ethan’s story had me in a chokehold and I don’t think they’re letting go anytime soon.
Check your triggers before reading this story and get ready for a wild ride!
