Jimena: Women of La Fuentes Cartel

Rate this book
He always made the fire of desire burn hot inside me. But the determination to never return to that world of ours burned hotter…

Jimena

Escaping the life and love I swore to leave behind in the La Fuentes Cartel was the easy part. Staying hidden and one step ahead was a different story.

I’m Jimena La Fuentes, heiress to the seat that leads the cartel families in my old city. I let my guard down, and now I’ve returned to where I started, dragged back by Ángel Sánchez—the man who once betrayed me. But he forever will be the one that could make my pulse race with one look, set me aflame with a single touch, and let my beast purr to her heart’s content.

There was no escape from my family or him, but I refuse to become what I’ve hated for so long—La Reina de La Fuentes Cartel.

Ángel

Betraying Jimena was the hardest thing I had to do and losing her nearly killed me. What choice did I have? My father was one of the Tenientes of the most powerful cartel in the City of the Eternal Spring, La Fuentes Cartel. And I was about to follow in his footsteps, joining La Familia business.

Years later, I’m a made man, and respect follows me in La Familia. I’m determined to bring Jimena back, even if she despises me. I’ll do anything for her, even burn this world to the ground. She belongs to me, and my beast demands it.

Consequences be damned. Together, we’ll rule the La Fuentes Cartel as King and Queen.

🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have been looking forward to this book for ages and it was well worth the wait. Kindra completely outdid herself. Jimena is far and away not only my favorite book of hers to date but one of my favorite books of all time.

You know I love me a strong heroine and Jimena can top that list. Strong, smart, sassy and doesn’t take an ounce of bs. Not from her father and certainly not from Angel.

Angel is charming, cuttthroat, deliciously possessive and protective of his girl but he still gives her room to lead and be the badass she is!

I loved the war between father and daughter, it was my favorite part of this delightful storyline.

The steam was next level, leaving me hot and bothered with every other page.

And you will never see the Batrayal coming your way in this fantastic page turner.

If you love a strong FMC, shifters, witchy goodness, dark romance and mafia you need to read Jimena! You will not be disappointed!

Jimena is kidnapped by her ex and taken back to the cartel life she tried to escape from. Angel wants to earn her forgiveness and to rule side by side. However, Jimena is over men telling her what to do. As a panther shifter, she is quick to anger and it was entertaining seeing her vengeance and wildness. An enemy to lover tension, passionate romance, and fiery chemistry book that is perfect for anyone who loves a strong and powerful FMC.

This is a creative blend of paranormal urban fantasy and Hispanic mafia action, drama and politics. Jimena is kidnapped by her ex lover and rejected mate, and taken back to the cartel life she ran away from. Angel wants to earn her forgiveness and for them to rule side by side, but Jimena is sick of men telling her what to do. As a panther shifter she is quick to anger and it was entertaining seeing her vengeance and wildness.
There is a lot of enemy to lover tension, passionate romance, and fiery chemistry, and Jimena is definitely a strong and powerful woman. Looking forward to more of this series.

"He always made the fire of desire burn hot inside me. But the determination to never return to that world of ours burned hotter…"

Kindra, you brought Jimena to life in such a way that I will never forget her or Ángel for that matter. For those reading, please heed her triggers. This book is dark. It will not be for the faint of heart. Her triggers can be found at the front of the book. Let's get into it!

This book starts off at a running start, I mean we aren't even up to chapter three and there is already lady-napping going on. Not, that I am complaining.

After that we get a taste of Ángel and exactly how far he will go to get back the woman he loves. He never intended to hurt her all of those years ago but now it is time. He has made it further than anyone and he has a name for himself that only resonates fear and respect within the people that hear it. Except, Jimena. She would love nothing more than to rip his head right from his very body. Have I mentioned I have a thing for strong women? They make me weak in the knees amongst other things.

As the story unfolds you learn of rejection and beasts that lurk within both Jimena and Ángel (yeah, the literal kind) which only amps the craving and the need these two have for one another. And when he calls her his "feral kitten" everything in me turns into a puddle because again, strong and beautiful women really do it for me.

While I was sparse on the details of the actual "mafia" aspect I did want to show the connection that these two have. It is unstoppable and no matter how hard Jimena fights she knows it too. As for the mafia part of the story it is some of the best I have ever read. There was blood and gore and not to mention what happened to that one guy when he insulted Jimena. Yeah, I don't think I will ever look at a cigar the same way again.

This book has some of my favorite tropes, not to mention the "menu" which is chalked full of all of the things that make my entire body tingle. So yeah, I might be biased but Kindra's storytelling is all her own and the way she brings her characters to life is that of the best storyteller.

Jimena's second epilogue leads right into book two where I can't wait to see what is in store for the next Woman of La Fuentes Cartel.

Jimena is the first in a series I will definitely be following - a well-balanced blend of paranormal (shifter romance) and cartel drama, it was fast-paced and had a stellar main character.

Jerry is the successful owner of a boutique hotel - and is the secret identity of Jimena, who has fled cartel life and wants nothing to do with being the leader of her Family. She is a panther shifter who still has feelings for Angel, the man who betrayed her. When Angel shows up back in her life, Jimena must not only decide if she will take up the mantle of leader, and if she will let him back into her life.

I loved Jimena, she is hardcore strong and powerful, and when it comes to Angel, her beast knows better. As for Angel, his own beast knows Jimena is his mate, and there is little he will not do to claim her.

Action, spice, and a wonderful lead, I'm ready for the next one!

Received this book from the Author as an ARC in exchange for an honest request. Action, thrilling, mafia romance (um hello??), fantasy and everything nice (SPICE) . This book had me hooked from the prologue and that is pretty rare for me. I loved the unique twist in this mafia romance, unlike other mafia romances I’ve read, I loved where fantasy is also baked in the book. It made the plot a lot more interesting and more thrilling. Can’t wait for the next masterpiece Kindra white writes. Definitely a recommend😍🤭

Jimena is the first book I've read from indie author @kindrawhiteauthor. Similarly to another book I recently read, I am trying to read some new authors that I will have a chance to meet at Book Harvest Convention! Jimena is also the first book in a new series and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next from Kindra!

The summary of this book is that Jimena is "kidnapped" and brought back to the cartel she left behind a long time ago. She is meant to be the leader of the La Fuentes family and the alpha of her pack and the story is her fight for respect among her people, including her father, and figuring out her relationship with her former lover, Angel. There's a lot to love about this story! We have an incredibly badass fmc in Jimena. She has strong people surrounding her and Angel is almost as badass as she is. I love the idea of mixing up paranormal and mafia tropes; I don't think I've read one like this before! While I'm not entirely sure where this story takes place, it seems like it must be in a Spanish speaking part of South America and as a Hispanic person myself I love the cultural diversity. I love the artwork on the book and I love the La Fuentes logo, I would literally have that tattooed in a heartbeat! 😍

My only other thought is that the ending is a little abrupt. I would have loved to see some of the climactic action a little earlier than it was and then some time for us to see Jimena heal from the trauma that she deals with. I would have especially loved for Angel to be a part of that, but Jimena is almost too strong, never really needing anything from anyone.

I am excited to see what happens next in this family's story (I'm hoping we get to learn more about Henry at some point; I love dragon shifters!) as this book ends on a mysterious cliffhanger!

“Jimena” is a paranormal dark mafia romance with shifters, magic, and power games. Such an original and refreshing twist on a classic mafia story!

This story follows Jimena, a woman who grew up in the cartel world and thought she was finally out for good, until they pulled her back in. Jimena carries the legacy of the cartel. She was born to lead, to become its queen, whether she wants it or not.

From the very first pages, it was gripping and full of tension. I honestly couldn’t put it down. However, as the story went on, it slowed down a bit and lost some of that early intensity.

There were also quite a few Spanish words and phrases, which I actually really enjoyed. I know a few Spanish words myself, so it was a fun little reminder of the language.

Some parts of Jimena’s journey didn’t feel entirely believable to me. When she returned to the cartel world, she hated it at first, but she accepted it and adapted to that life very quickly. Still, it’s an intriguing read with a fierce heroine and a unique mix of magic and mafia drama.

I don’t even know where to start talking about this book.

It’s a paranormal shifter mafia story. Jimena is forced to return home to take over her dad’s cartel, but once there, things aren’t the way they should be. Jimena is the best. She’s a strong, fierce gal with a potty mouth, and I loved it. Her cursing in Spanish was the cherry on the cake, and she took no crap from anyone.

Her fated mate, Angel, is under her father’s command, but he doesn’t think twice about bending the rules for Jimena. He works hard at groveling to win her back, and what a sweet victory.

The chemistry between Jimena and Angel is caliente, and through the roof, and their dynamic is perfect.

I had so much fun reading their story, with all the mystery intertwined in their lives. Jimena’s journey from a woman who swore off her family and mate to accepting her role as the next cartel heir was long, bumpy, and worth it. If you’re into mafia, paranormal, and shifters with a great story, just pick up this book. You’ll have a great time and need a few cold showers.

Marvelous! Highly recommend this paranormal dark romance. I have come across very few captivating panthers' shifters novels and this one is exciting! Jimena is a witch and Alpha black panther. Hurt and betrayed by the men most close to her, she escapes the life of the mafia cartel just to be dragged back to the world she swore to leave behind. When she arrives at her family finca problems will rise but the truth will unravel to reveal the real villain.

Not that I approve of any mafia related themes, but I have to admit the story portrayed a true cartel queen boss with balls; she stays true to herself and still achieved anyone thought her capable of. Even Angel, her fated mate, will follow her lead and become his king.

Please read the full list of TW at the beginning of the book. Mature content advised.

I was lucky to have the opportunity to read an ARC for this book and I'm sad to say I'm disappointed. I read the blurb and the plot was really promising, but something about the way it was delivered didn't do it for me.
It feels rushed in parts, and while I read lots of smut in different genres every time a "sexy" scene would come in place I'd be cringing a lot. It felt forced and overdone.
Also at the beginning I liked the idea of them switching back and forth between Spanish and English (I'm a Spanish speaker myself) but, again, as the book progressed this felt distracting and forced into the dialogues.
I'm giving it half the stars for a good promising story, and I promise I'll come back and give it another read in a few months on a fresh head to see if it was just me being annoyed or the book was just lacking something for my taste.

Dark. Dangerous. Jaguar. Astounding!

'Jimena' is the first book in Kindra White's new Women of La Fuentes Cartel series and a significantly darker book than we are used to seeing from White.  That said, bring on the trigger warnings so everyone can decide if the book is for them.  Reread your title because you are entering a new world of dark mafia romance.

I am here for the heart-stopping twists and intrigue that White brings to all her stories, her uncanny ability to catch you off-guard with an unexpected turn in the tale. Prepare yourself as your Queen reluctantly resumes her reign. And Angel... well, appearances can be deceiving, but... everyone is on the naughty list this year.

What are you waiting for?

🖤 Happy Reading! 🖤

I am sorry but it was not good

It was not interesting. The plot idea was good, but it wasn’t properly executed. Some parts were rushed and some staff wasn’t explained properly. My biggest issue was that the h hated the H, but suddenly after one moment she accepted him, with no groveling, nothin. Also I like strong heroine but she was just too much and the H become just a pawn in her plan and not equal partner. Ending was rushed and after wery traumatic experience, with epilogue after 3 months she was just fine 🤷‍♀️ The book didn’t do it for me and I was skipping pages, just to be done with it. I am sorry but according the interesting blurb, the book didin’t delivered😕

I received an ARC of this book.

I really enjoyed this book as it was a refreshingly unique take on mafia romances with its blend of magic, shifters, fantasy and SPICE. The main female character, Jimena, is such a powerful woman that grows over the course of the story as she faces emotional challenges from her past and harnesses her powers. The main male character, Ángel, perfectly compliments Jimena with his intense and dominating personality that brings so much heat to their love story. The overall plot was a nice blend between exciting action and scorching romance. If you like paranormal dark romances, I highly recommend this book!

I received an arc for Jimena. The blurb grabbed my attention, I love shifter, mafia and spice books so I was excited to read this one.
I enjoyed the premises of the story and it is fast paced but I did find my attention wasn't captured and I found myself putting the book down a lot.
The characters; Jimena is a strong female and doesn't want men to tell her what to do.
Ángel, he wants Jimena but he hurt all those years ago.

The spice; Kindra definitely brought the spice on this one.

I do think others will love this story and if you like your books hot then this one is for you.

I really enjoyed this book.
The FMC is bada$$ and the MMC fought hard for his girl. This is a mafia dark romance so please read the trigger warnings before reading! I love me some mafia dark romance but i was kind of “sad” that the fmc was so strong that i got the feeling she didn’t need to rely on others as much.. yes its a weird thought but I am a girlie who does throughly enjoy a epic FMC but also can be vulnerable to the MMC in private. I cant wait to find out what happens in book 2!

This story is jammed packed full of adventure, shifter magic, fated mates, a woman coming into her own power, and the discourse of a woman showing that she can have just as much power and intelligence as a man in the world of a cartel.

DNF this book. I liked the premise. But I don’t speak Spanish and there was a lot of flipping back and forth from
Spanish to English and I just couldn’t get into it. The 25-30% I read was good, just not my cup of tea.
