The heated follow-up to Twisted Knight and the second book in New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg's Tangled Hearts series. A dark and sexy romance of revenge, betrayal… and falling in love with the enemy.
Holden I let my guard down. And got screwed over by a woman without even knowing why. But it won’t happen again. Because the only thing I care about is burning this whole place down.
Rowan Two can play this game. I gave my heart to a man who set out from the get-go to destroy it. Now I’m more than ready to show him just who he messed with. You wanted a war, Holden Knight. You’ve got one.

4.5⭐️ NOOOO! Not another cliffhanger! 😫 This was so good but I cannot handle having to wait to find out what happens next. I feel betrayed.
This book has me in shambles. I was completely glued to the story and now I am left pacing the floor because I need answers.
The way assumptions spiral and miscommunication piles up had me practically yelling at the Holden & especially Rowan. Like seriously, why do fictional characters refuse to use their words? I know it makes for great drama, but my stress levels would like a word with the author. Haha!
The audiobook narration brought every ounce of tension and emotion to life. I giggled, I groaned, I gasped, and now I am counting the days until the next book because I need to know what happens immediately.
Two and a half stars for this. I liked the first book, Twisted Knight, but this follow-up was a disappointment for me. Knight was setting up a take-down of very corrupt people that had terribly wronged his family in the past (and I was so there for it!) I fully expected to see this come to fruition here in Threaded Lies. Imagine my surprise when this hadn't happened- yet- by the end of the book! I can only assume I'm going to have to wait (yet again) for another sequel to finish this story up. I'm just not sure I'm invested enough anymore to want to read it😑 If I find out later there isn't a follow-up book planned, I will be changing this rating to a 1-star review. There's no way a story can end on this note satisfactorily.
Wowza. Ok, so this book dives right in. Threaded Lies picks up immediately after the cliffhanger in Twisted Knight, so make sure you've read that first, because this is definitely not a standalone. From the very first page, you're launched into a rollercoaster of emotions, so buckle up! Rowan and Holden have a lot to unpack here, with serious issues still looming between them, the emotional tension is thick, especially as they’re forced to keep working together under high-stakes circumstances. This book is more intense and emotionally complicated than the last, but God, I really enjoyed it, it was so good. The emotional depth hits hard, but don’t worry, it still delivers on the hot, sensual spice! The chemistry between Rowan and Holden is just as fiery, if not more, and you can’t help but root for them to overcome the chaos and earn their happily ever after. I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook, and it was good. The narrators nailed it, bringing so much emotion and heat to every scene. I highly recommend. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.
I think it's a little lazy to drag out this plot over multiple books. This might be the first time where I am asking for a romance book to be long. Just tell the story so we can move on!
Like, the only "shocking" plot twist came at a moment that was so obvious that I can't even say I was shocked? The only shocking thing was Holden and Rowan's inability to be honest with each other. I get why he's cryptic, but considering she hates her own brother as much as Holden does, idk why he won't just TELL HER the reason he's trying to dismantle her company.
It's like another 300 pages of back and forth over something that would take 10 minutes worth of conversation to clear up. Rowan insisting that Holden hates her, Holden feeding into it while secretly pining. It was exhausting for me personally.
Will I read the inevitable PART 3? Yes. But please let that be the last part.
I received an arc from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
(4.5 Stars) Thank you @macmillan.audio and @brambleromance for the #gifted advanced listening copy! I’ve been counting down since last fall’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger in book one, and this sequel did not disappoint.
I won’t give a full summary because so much of the fun of this morally gray (but not morally depraved) series is unraveling the twists and shocks yourself. Here’s what I’ll say: Holden has seized control of Rowen’s family empire and is making life miserable for her family, the board, and their old-guard allies. At the same time, he’s wrestling with his relationship with Rowen - because he doesn’t know that she knows the secret. And trust me: things only get messier from there.
This series is pure candy - dark, addictive, and impossible to put down. What I love is that while Holden plays in morally gray spaces, he surrounds himself with strong, intelligent women and is, in many ways, the most morally bound character of them all - revenge just happens to be his compass. Rowen’s journey is equally gripping: long belittled by her family, she begins to recognize her worth and intellect through Holden’s eyes, even as both of them play dangerous games and guard their secrets.
The reveals in this installment are explosive, and the ending? Another cliffhanger that has me already desperate for the next book.
🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: Patrick Zeller and Victoria Connolly return as Holden and Rowen in this dual narration performance, and their chemistry is electric. At 10h 7m, their performances are sharp, layered, and utterly addictive - perfect for a series this diabolically entertaining.
4.5 'No more lies' Stars! ARC provided via Valentine PR in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the second installment in the Tangled Hearts series. I just finished it yesterday night and Threaded Lies is the perfect continuation of Rowan and Holden’s story—full of emotion, heat, and even more tangled secrets.
The romance in this book really took things to the next level. You can feel how much deeper Rowan and Holden’s connection gets as the story goes on. There’s still that undeniable chemistry between them (the steamy scenes are scorching hawt!), but what really stood out to me this time was the emotional growth. You see them starting to let their guards down, trying to trust each other in the middle of all the chaos—and it just made everything feel even more intense.
How interesting that one person can upend our world and make us see something in a different light.
That said, the lies are still the main theme, and they keep coming. Every time you think the truth might finally come out, something else gets in the way. It adds so much tension and keeps you turning the pages, needing to know how it will all unravel.
Sworn enemy. Salve to wounds I won’t acknowledge. Gasoline to the fire I’m starting.
K. Bromberg does such a great job balancing the suspense with the romance. The plot gets even more layered, the stakes are higher, and just when things start to settle… —another cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for the final book. If you were hooked by the first one, Threaded Lies will pull you in even deeper and that's why I am rating it with 4.5 STARS, just like the previous installment. I’m completely addicted to this story and this couple and I can't wait to see how it all ends. I need the final book ASAP!!
ARC review: I knew after reading the first book in this series I need to get my hands on the second one as soon as possible. Somehow I got lucky and was able to receive it as an ARC. But holy mother of all things cliffhangers… you think the first one left you with your mouth wide open.. this one will leave you with your jaw on the floor.
K. Bromberg is outdid herself with this series. The detailed raw emotions from lust to love to utter betrayal, makes you feel as if you are right there with the characters. It draws you in and keeps you engaged (maybe a little enraged) the entire time.
As I was reading it I saw (percentage wise) how close to the end I was and thought okay here we go.. this big grand gesture to solve all our issues. And then BAM.. end book. I sat there, and sat there thinking nope there’s no way this is over. A little birdie told me.. it’s not. Let’s hope our two MC can get through their lies and come out the other side as the power couple we know they can be.

I loved the first book in this series and this one was good but definitely not as much as the first one. This book picks up where the first one ends with the fmc seeing the betrayal of the mmc and acting out accordingly. There is so much miscommunication in this book cause i think if they had just talked alot would have been figured out lol. I loved the fast paced aspect and the business part of it. I liked seeing both characters scheme to make it in this high society world and give in to each other. The chemistry is still explosive and im excited for the next book. Thanks to the publisher for this arc!
this is probably the slowest of burns i’ve read in a really really long time.
the last 10% really had my heart racing. rowan and holden are playing a game of will they or won’t they but in a toxic way and you can’t help but continue to be invested in their story. rowan has broken out of the westmore woman mold a bit in this book but i cannot wait to see how she thrives outside of it. it’s so clear that she’s capable of great things and she’s already making tinspirits better in a higher position.
i don’t really want to talk about the men in this book lol they all suck and they’re misogynistic.
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audio arc in exchange for an honest review.
It honestly hurts to rate this book so low, because I was really looking forward to it. The narrators, Patrick Zeller and Victoria Connolly, were fantastic — their performances were full of raw emotion and really elevated the story. Patrick gave Holden that deep, mysterious tone with just the right amount of vulnerability, while Victoria poured so much intensity into Rowan’s voice that you couldn’t help but feel her emotions.
That said, the story itself was frustrating for me. Rowan was such a difficult character to connect with. So much of the plot was driven by miscommunications and her constant “woe is me” mindset. Instead of having calm conversations, she made accusations and ran off, which made it hard to sympathize with her. Holden, on the other hand, was the highlight. His revenge plan was like watching a chess game unfold, and I enjoyed seeing how he adjusted his moves to protect Rowan, even when she didn’t appreciate it.
Rowan’s anger at Holden’s “scheming” felt misplaced, especially considering the real betrayals in her life came from her own family — the people who should have loved her unconditionally. And don’t get me started on Chad… the name says it all.
In the end, this is no reflection on the audiobook narration, which was excellent. My frustration lies with the characters and the heavy reliance on drama and miscommunication. I’m not sure yet if I’ll continue the series, but if the conclusion comes in the next book, I may push myself to finish.
Westmore is a good ole boys club where there are only a few families who rule the town. Fifteen years ago, the sons of those families got away with murder and Holden Knight is back to exact revenge for his brother. Every piece of his plan has to fall precisely into place, but he never planned on Rowan Rothschild. She's the one holding the company TinSpirits together, not her idiot brother, and she'll be his biggest obstacle in his plan, especially since he's falling for her... Oh she did it again! I should have known since this was only book 2, but this book has ripped my heart out in yet another cliffhanger and now I have a long time to wait to find out what happens!! Nooooo! This was an emotional beginning and ending and the audiobook narrators did a good job at portraying that emotion. I had no problem following the story and relating to the characters through their voices. I'm anxiously looking forward to the next book in the series! I received a complimentary arc of this audiobook. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
DNF 25% in. I just realized this isn’t a duology. There’s going to be a third installment on THE SAME STORY LINE.
Just no.
I do like the storyline, which is why I wanted to read the second book despite feeling the first was too slow.
This could have been one book. Why is it three? This pacing just isn’t for me. I feel like nothing happens and then nothing happens and then nothing happens. I also hate miscommunication tropes and this one digs hard into that foreverrrr. You are adults. Apparently capable of running a company. Have a fucking conversation.
However, just because this series isn’t for me doesn’t mean it’s not for you. If you like a slower pace and can handle waiting for the books in the series then it may be for you. I do really like the story line. I would love to see Rhett and Chad get their come-uppance.
I just can’t personally take a train ride this long to get there.
I’ll also add that literally everything else I’ve read from this author has been right up my alley. I like their books and their writing the majority of the time. This one just isn’t hitting with me.
Wow, what an intoxicating continuation to Holden and Rowan's emotional and provocative story! After the stunning end in the last book, Rowan is determined to fight for herself. After being looked over and taken advantage of in her family business, she is determined to have her own plans to gain her own power to keep her family business running. Holden and Rowan find their way back to each other and their push/pull chemistry is even hotter. But Holden still has plans of revenge, and as his feelings for Rowan grow, he is afraid the eventual fallout will be the end of what they have together. He tries to convince Rowan to let him take care of her, but after his betrayal, and continued secrets, she can't trust him. There are so many pieces in play throughout this story, will all the secrets and lies be the end of them completely? I could not get enough of this story of small town secrets, power plays, and fiery sexual tension. My heart breaks for both Holden and Rowan as they still feel past loss that fuels their actions. The twisty direction that Bromberg takes us and the way she weaves this story, including flashbacks, is riveting! We may have learned some shocking secrets, but there is more that needs to be revealed. Patrick Zeller and Victoria Connolly's narration added so much depth to these characters in this breathtaking romance. The way they portray Holden and Rowan's complex relationship, making me feel all the angst, heartbreak, hope, and passion they felt was brilliant, bringing it to life so clearly. I was completely captivated by their performance. The surprise ending left me craving more and I can't wait to find out what happens next with Holden and Rowan!
I love all of her writing and series’s but this really pissed me off! This was supposed to be two books as indicated and it’s a cliff hanger! This is so very misleading to the readers and I am not happy. I have rarely given three stars but I here I am! Don’t say two books and then leave a cliffhanger! It’s a ploy to buy more stories and this is insulting to dedicated readers who will buy the books especially at the cost of this e book! It is more than I have ever spent because I love Kristy’s writing! I feel like we are being taken advantage of.
Story is intense and well written as we come to love from Kristy. The story deserves more than three stars but the way it is left is not the way you keep readers!
Just my opinion and one I never write….I just feel very strongly about this!
I spent the entirety of this book WAITING for either Holden or Rowan to just be honest and stop with the games. I understand part of the plot is the scheming but this book felt like an entirely too long extension of book 1 and hardly anything happened except for massive miscommunication. The cliffhanger at the end basically puts exactly where we were at the end of book 1 and I wanted to throw my kindle. This is the first K Bromberg book I have read and was this disappointed. Almost all of what happened could have been boiled down to a couple chapters and this series could have been a duology. It was so unnecessary.
Will I read book 3? Yeah, I mean I am invested this far. But if you start this series, you could skip this and still follow along just fine.
this series is so fun and i devour every word greedily!!!
tensions are high in book 2 — holden & rowan refuse to let each other in all the way, each determined to have the upper hand. i feel for both of them; they both deserve to have their end goals met but it seems impossible right now.
i love how rowan takes absolutely no shit from anyone. i don’t agree with her decision at the end of book 1, but i love that she’s doing it for HER. and more importantly, i love how jealous holden gets over it in this book 🙂↕️

I am so lucky to have received an Audio ARC of this book to review after receiving book 1 previously. I still felt engaged and drawn to the characters and the story, but I do wish that we didn't end on another cliffhanger. I don't know, for some reason, despite a quick moving story, I sort of got to the end feeling like not much happened... or rather... a lot happened, but nothing progressed. Overall, enjoyable listen, but I felt like this was a filler book to get to book 3. 3.5 rounded up to 4.
—business bitchery —REVENGE (cont'd) —sneaking around —JEALOUSY!!!
The Basics:
Heads up! This is the second book in Bromberg's Tangled Hearts series, it cannot be read as a standalone, and there will be a third book. Holden Knight set out to ruin the Rothschild family and their company, TinSpirits; unfortunately, he did get entangled with daughter of the family Rowan in the process, and he sure is upset that she's gotten engaged to the pining Chad without even telling him!!! He doesn't know Rowan did so because, while she doesn't know Holden's motives, she did find out he's up to no good. And marrying Chad will trigger a clause in her grandmother's will that ensures her millions, and the ability to beat Holden at his own game. As they attempt outmaneuver one another, Holden and Rowan can't quite resist falling back into bed... but exactly what kind of future could these two have together when they're literally trying to take each other down? And do other down things?
The Review:
There's something so delightfully dramatic, soapy, and kinda campy about this series. Like, it's set in a small southern town and everyone is Succession-ing out about a spiked seltzer company. One of the earliest scenes involves Rowan, marketing maven, posing in her bikini with models for a photoshoot while Holden Sits There Consumed With Lust For The Remainder Of The Evening. It's so over the top. It's so ridiculous. It's so fun.
This is definitely a bridge book, wherein you can't really let Rowan and Holden know exactly what the full story is (they're both keeping things from each other, and with good reason, if you're a Schemer). The plot takes something of a backseat, and that's actually perfectly fine—because while we had that initial spark and passion and dislike between Rowan and Holden in the first book, this is the one where they really, really start to fall. Hard. Personally, I'm a big fan of a good cheating book (controversial but brave) and while the cheating here is really in name only, socially speaking... We get everything. Holden pulling Rowan into dark corners, Rowan telling her mom JUST FIVE MORE MINUTES while having depraved things done to her in a dressing room, Holden getting angsty over Rowan's engagement ring—it's all there.
I can't say a lot here without giving away too much of what happened in the first novel, but you get a lot of interiority here. And really, Holden being consumed by FEELINGS and JEALOUSY while also refusing to make a single good decision? Worked for me.
If you enjoyed the first book in the series, this is going to take you where you want to go—it's just as dramatic, but with a narrowed focus that allows Holden and Rowan's feelings to deepen. Which means the next (last?) installment... is going to put us through it, I think. In the best possible way.
The Sex:
Still good as hell! Like I said, there's a lot of sneaking around—and Bromberg maintains the office shenanigans (workplace violations all over). But there's a little more intimacy at play, more "Oh no, we're catching feelings for serious. I just loved the panic this little man experienced he realized HE WAS ALL TWISTED UP IN THE GAME.
The Conclusion:
More drama. More feelings. More banging in places you really shouldn't be banging in (don't stop). It's what we want!
Thanks to Bramble and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the second book in the Tangled Hearts series and the books must be read in order.
These cliff hangers are killing me, I need the next (and hopefully last) book ASAP. I am usually not a fan of the miscommunication trope in books at all, but with this one it works. When Rowan discovers the betrayal in book one I love how she stepped up and is taking it upon herself to go after what she feels she deserves. I love Holden more and more as the series continues. I cannot wait to see what happens when everything is brought to light and how the story plays out!
ARC Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Threaded Lies is book two in the Tangled Hearts series and picks up right where Twisted Knight ended—so don’t even think about diving in unless you’ve read book one. The story continues Holden’s revenge plot against the wealthy families who covered up the hit-and-run death of his younger brother. Now a powerful man, Holden is set on destroying Rhett Rothschild and Chad Williams—but his feelings for Rhett’s sister, Rowan, complicate everything.
The emotional tension between Holden and Rowan is still there, and the writing remains compelling, but this installment left me wanting more in terms of actual story development. The ending lands in almost the exact same emotional and plot space as book one’s cliffhanger, which made this second book feel more like a pause than a step forward.
If you're invested in the slow-burn tension, family drama, and high-stakes revenge, you'll still be hooked—but I’m crossing my fingers that book three finally brings the payoff we’ve been waiting for.
Thank you, Tor/Bramble and Netgalley, for the e-ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own!
I loved the first book in this series, Twisted Knight! I devoured it, and I did the same with this one. I started it last night and then finished it today. There is a great deal of tension, drama, twists, and intrigue in this series. I’m not sure how I don’t see this all over socials because they are so good!
We start exactly where book two left off. The biggest theme in all romances is miscommunication. I know, I know. It’s the worst, but it’s how we get all the drama and tension. This is what is going on for a major part of this book, but that’s not a surprise. There is so much betrayal that I’m honestly not sure who to trust in this series. I do know that rich people really will do anything for money. It’s always sad to see how families are ripped apart by greed. We have a lot of that here. I do feel so bad for Rowan because her mother is the worst. I can’t imagine my mom forcing a life or marriage on me that I’ve made clear, I do not want.
Rowan and Holden constantly challenge each other and raise the stakes. The tension, angst, and passion make the story move quickly. It’s hard to put down because you always want to know what happens next. Their attraction is impossible to ignore, and there are definitely some spicy scenes! Things get even more intense as they finally face their feelings.
I will give it to Bromberg because she can create some amazing cliffhangers! I didn’t realize this wasn’t the last book and was surprised by that ending! I’m eagerly awaiting the third book! If you love a spicy romance with a lot of betrayal, drama, and tension, then I highly recommend you pick up this series! I’ve loved it so much!
3.5⭐️ I didn’t realize this was a sequel when I requested it—I somehow missed that detail—but I actually enjoy going into sequels blind to see if they can stand on their own. In this case, nope. If you don’t start with book one, you’ll be completely lost.
So I went back, read the first, and then continued on. In the end, the series—especially this installment—just wasn’t for me. The writing style was the main drawback on a personal level, but it’s clearly well crafted, which is why I still rated it positively. I can easily see others enjoying it under different circumstances.
The narration had a big impact too. It was performed by Patrick Zeller and Victoria Connolly. Connolly’s pacing and voice work made her chapters engaging and enjoyable. Unfortunately, I struggled with Zeller’s performance. His delivery felt overacted at times, especially when voicing the FMC, which made her come across as even more unlikable than she did in the text. (For reference, I read book one as an eARC, which I think is why I enjoyed that one more.)
At the end of the day, I think fans of the series will enjoy this book. It ends on a cliffhanger, setting up the next installment, which releases October 14th.
I fortunate to receive a complimentary ALC from Macmillan Audio via NetGalley, which gave me the opportunity to share my voluntary thoughts.
How I Rate Because I mostly read ARCs, I focus on how I think fellow readers with similar tastes will respond. I sometimes round up or down based on pacing, prose, or overall impact, and I try to keep my personal preferences from weighing too heavily.
⭐️ 1 Star – Finished, but not for me; I never DNF ARCs. ⭐️⭐️ 2 Stars – Struggled due to writing, content, or editing issues. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 Stars – Decent read with untapped potential; recommend with some reservations. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars – Really enjoyed it and would recommend for several reasons. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Exceptional; lingers in my mind well after reading. A story I’d gladly revisit.
Warning Not a standalone. Mind the cliff, but it's worth it. Trust me. Read the first book first.
General Thoughts: I have been dying to read this one. It's been one of my most highly anticipated years, and it didn't disappoint. I loved Twisted Knight, and this one was so so good. I am dying to read the next one.
The series reminds me of Count of Monte Cristo and the tv series "Revenge." It's a revenge story, and it's done so so well.
The romance, the characters, the banter, the angst, the drama--this one has it all and does it all well. Mind the cliff, like I said above. That's one heck of a brutal cliff, but it's worth it trust me. Pick this one up. You won't regret it. This series is gold. I'm not sure I can wait til the next one comes out! I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks to the author and Valentine PR.
