Ethan 'Ace' Matthews spent over a decade as a Navy SEAL. After being captured and tortured, along with the other members of his team, Ace took a job with a former Navy SEAL and billionaire, Malcom Ravenstone. The company Malcolm created, Ravenstone Security, based in Wilmington, NC is exactly what Ace and his men had been looking for. The past three years they had rescued numerous people, assisted in search and rescues, tracked stalkers, worked for corporate entities and so much more. Over the years, Ace has settled into a comfortable life in Coastal Carolina. He has great friends, a wonderful job, a beautiful home and a family that support him. Adelaide Montgomery has spent years working as a paramedic in cities all across the country. She wasn't one to stay in one place too long, but Coastal Carolina gave her a peace she hadn't know she was missing. It might have to do with the hot, strong, alpha former Navy SEAL she met while on a humanitarian mission in Miami a year earlier. She has built strong friendships with all the members of the team, but Ethan always seemed like more to her. As much as she was attracted to Ethan, Adelaide always felt she he was out of her league. She was in the 'friend zone'.
When Ace gets a call in the middle of the night to come to a hospital, he fears someone closet to him has been injured. Instead, a week later he comes home with a daughter. Ace turns to his teammates, but more to Adelaide to help navigate how to take care of an unexpected newborn. Adelaide doesn't mind stepping up for her friend and his beautiful little girl, hoping maybe things between her and Ethan will evolve the more time they spend together.
Will that be the case? Will Ace finally take the chance he has wanted to desperately with Adelaide? Will he finally call her 'his'? Or will it all come crashing down around them?

romantic suspense
Great start for this series. Definitely a read like Susan Stoker/Riley Edwards type. Will look forward to the next in the series!

What a fantastic first book. Stayed awake reading until 2.30 am as I couldn't put it down and then gave into sleep.
Hopefully we won't have to wait long for the next book but given it's length (not complaining) it might be a while. Merry Christmas
