3.5 rounded up. Over all this book was pretty good. There were a couple of spots were things just didn't feel like they "fit". I'm not sure what it was exactly. It wasn't a deal breaker but I will be looking for the same feeling in the next book.
It's a cute, quick story. I definitely love the friends->enemies->lovers trope. I thought the two MCs were cute together. I think in these kinds of books you usually get the small business owner's perspective first, and then later on hear from the "heartless corporate businesswoman", so it was kind of nice to just open up with Harper's perspective.
Admittedly, I did find the drama (that initial schism) to be... forced. They had a falling out because Harper bought the ski resort, and for some reason after knowing each other for 12 years, and having a (mutual) unrequited love, Julie decides this means that Harper is a soulless, blood-sucking businesswoman that wants to destroy everything they BOTH have held precious. I just don't see how she jumped to that conclusion. Speaking of Julie, I think I just kind of disliked her if not the whole way through, then for a fair portion of it. A couple highlighted examples I have were I think part of my frustration with her is . My last complaint is just personal preference, but plotwise . But maybe that's just me, and I'm not really holding it against the story.
So yeah, cute story, I liked the couple when they were together. Didn't really feel the drama, and kind of disliked one of the MCs. Epilogue was cute though, almost rated it a 4 for that.
The development of the characters relationship was well planned and thoughtful. The storm added to the drama and the saving of the town was heartfelt. I for one love the small ski resorts and quaint towns!!
Teenage crush becomes reality for these sweet characters. They have been crushing on each other since childhood but didn’t have the courage or even chance to say anything. Years later, they find their way back together in this amazing second chance romance.
Nice book! I loved the MCs especially Harper! The miscommunication was killing me but water over the bridge now! My only request is for the book to be longer!!!! Anyway, great book!
