The Everlasting: Remember Love is a journey into the secret world of mystical beings that walk amongst us every day. This is a story of lost love, ancient quests, betrayal and hope. Join us as we follow our protagonists on a journey that will lead them to the doorstep of damnation.
Ulthane, a deava who was once worshiped as a god, and his cherub assistant Imidel are forced into a confrontation with a being from hell who holds one of the pieces vital to the completion of Ulthane’s quest.
The quest began three thousand years ago with the death of a lover. The world has changed to make information more accessible and after centuries without progress the quest has started again. Twelve items are needed and two have been found so far. With a team of mortals and his divine assistant Ulthane hopes to unlock the locations of the ten other items needed to save his love from the maw of Lucifer.
Set in the world of The Everlasting Role-Playing Game and written by new comer Paul Murphy, illustrated by Rachel Russel and cover art by Andrew Hepworth.
A rare and little known ebook manga\comic based off the RPG "The Everlasting", TE:RE could actually be very good.
It's not.
While The Everlasting copied quite a bit from the World of Darkness, it's still different and original enough to stand aside from it and produce good stories. Instead, we are given the beginning of the tale of an immortal whose love got murdered 4000 years ago, and made a deal with Lucifer -- to free her from hell, he needs to gather 12 artefacts.
Of course, the art, while bad, is not the worst thing about this book. It's the horrible storytelling and the plotholes. Our hero tells us he can't save his lover from execution because his kind "Is not allowed to interfere with the mortal world".
However, apparently that rule doesn't apply to a) bringing the dead back to the living (which I DO believe is a far worse interference) b) gathering 12 super artefacts for the DEVIL. Who clearly is not just going to keep them for his amusement.
Also, it's never explained why the lover goes to hell. Her only sin was to take a lover because her husband and her were in an arranged marriage. Plot convenient, I suppose....
But yeah. A pity. RPG needs more quality books\comics and this one didn't help.
