The universe has a plan of its own and the unexpected sometimes creates expectations that we aren’t prepared for. One of the most unpredictable happenings tends to be love.
T’air’s current way of living isn’t cutting anymore. She wants something different, something solid! This is a stark contrast to her current lifestyle but in order to achieve the intended goal she will have to take a chance and express herself even when it seems pointless.
Lu’vell or Luv wants what he wants when he wants it. Scorned by past experiences Luv is not interested in finding love at all but he wants T’air. In order for him to achieve that goal he will have to take a chance...a chance at love one more time.
Sometimes all you need is to give things a chance. Whether it’s a meeting someone new, an experience, a text message or love. You can’t have different results, doing the same things.

3.5 ⭐️ Luv & T’air were instantly attracted to one another like magnets 🧲! T’air gave Luv a proposition for sex, she wanted to get all of the meaningless sex out of her system & then start a celibacy journey so that she could find a meaningful relationship. What she thought was going to be just “sex” didn’t turn out that way and she ended up catching feelings.!
What I didn’t like was just because she started the relationship with Luv as a “proposition” & then ghosted him, when he reached out because he also caught feelings, she thought that all he wanted was to continue to have sex without getting clarification from him and getting horrible advice from her friend! I mean are we children!? Anyway, it worked out in the end and they ended up together.
I loved the brothers relationships & how the rode for one another! Lenox was the funniest, I can’t wait to see how some woman gets him together.! The book was pretty good.
I almost didn’t get to the end of the book because of Jo.
Imma be honest, T’air should’ve went with her gut instead of listening to her friend. I liked Jo kinda, she was judgemental and gave me entitled to T’air life vibes. I absolutely loved Ebo and Luv. Luv gave me all the big man vibes with the height and weight, very much THAT N***A! I enjoyed the book and can’t wait to see what happens with the other brothers.
Although I really enjoyed this entertaining story, Luv and T'Air's relationship needed a tad more development.
Luv and his brothers are hilarious and it was fun to watch them interact. But T'Air was so busy flitting from one man to another, there didn't seem to be enough time for T'Air and Luv's relationship to develop and grow.
I absolutely loved it! At first I thought T’air was coming on a little to strong wanting marriage and babies from a guy she knew nothing about. I then realized like most women she wanted love passion and her own little family. She found that in the gentle giant Luv. I was loving how she had him so open and he hated to admit it. Just goes to show that love never fails. I can’t wait to catch up with them in book 2 and see what stage of their relationship they are in. I’m still tryna figure out how I missed this series but so glad I ran across it. Amazing work as always ❤️❤️
I know novellas are supposed to be short, things happen fast but, I believe that it is possible to write a novella in a way that the reader won't feel like something is missing. While I do think T'air and Luv had chemistry, I still feel like I was not shown enough to 100% believe in their relationship. I like them together and people can change their views on relationships and marriage and stuff. I am not saying I wanted to see them struggle but to me this was too simple. But I understand it's a novella and we can't get all the little details on everything that happens. So, overall, it was as okay as a novella can be.
Alright now Luke brothers! They went hard for each other, and that was great to see. Loved how T'air lived her life unapologetically, until she wanted more. Luv, was just a teddy bear! The voice of reason with his brothers, and a man who really wanted love; but was afraid. The chemistry with these two was 🔥, right from the beginning. Once they had a "real" conversation, it was full speed ahead. Can't wait for Ebu's story, but have a feeling that Lennox is the one that will have the most interesting story to tell. Hope he gets one as well. Good read! 👍👍👍
I love a book that’s gets right to it and straight to the point. Luv and T’air were a great pair straight forward and knew what they wanted. A woman who is very sexual and a man who is not everyone’s cup of tea but not because he is ugly.
This was a good read. My 1st read of this author and I enjoyed the short story. Only negative was it is straight to the point but missing a few steps or stuff I think I would have liked to know more about them. But with this being a series, I’m sure I’ll get to read more about them in the next few books.
This book is one that is of an age milestone with expectations while trying something new and different.
Unexpected Expectations by K.C. Mills has a compelling premise and characters that immediately drew me in. The chemistry between the protagonists and the tension in their dynamic kept me turning the pages. However, as a short story, I felt there were elements included that didn’t necessarily add to the overall plot or character development.
That said, the story still offered an enjoyable escape, and fans of K.C. Mills’ work or the genre will likely appreciate it. I’d recommend it for those who enjoy quick romantic reads with a touch of drama but wish for a bit more narrative precision.
By the time T'air went in for her tatoo I had developed a crush on Luv. He's the elusive in that broody introvert manner that had me curious and he turns out to be a burly gooey teddy on the inside. He's driven, a bit scarred by past relationship, but his love for his brothers and how he goes about getting T'air back in his life just melts you. I didn't want their story to end, she's mellow to his mean mugging and he's gentle to her near flighty tendencies. They just mesh so well. Well since he got between her legs to ink her thigh that is.
Semi spoiler but not really OMGGGG this book is perfect and steamy, I love luv so much, He had me blushing so much like i’m in love with this man like he’s a real person lol and i loveddd T’air’s character too and yes this book is steamy asf but the part that made me know that i would love this book is the scene was their first time together.. the writing was so beautiful, i feel felt the emotions and i felt like i was living in the book… wow i love this book so much.. i will be reading the rest of this author’s books !!
This book was cute…I liked seeing how Luv “Lavelle” tried to deny his feelings at the beginning of the relationship he developed. I think both Luv & Te’Aire had to come to terms with what they both wanted and give each other the needed space to figure it out. Oftentimes, there’s a double standard when it comes to the pasts of women vs. men. I think that is so wild. Anyway, I’m not giving too much away but I think the way the addressed this was good. If you’re interested in reading how these two people came to terms with their feelings you should read this…it’s quick.
Very good short story, and I like the way it kept to the point. I really thought Lenox would be the one in a crazy love relationship the way the story started with him. Luv and his mean mug was destined to find the version of himself in female form. Ebo, I'm not sure why his marriage was even mentioned because I just love me some Luv, the other stuff didn't even matter to be honest. A must quick read.
For an intro into this series, this first book was good and for a short story, it still left you 90% complete. What didn’t do the full complete is no interaction with Luv’s parents while we had a glimpse of T’Air mom. Luv and T’Air were somewhat alike and what was beautiful in this relationship was the way they started it out open and honest with each other. This was such a welcoming approach compare to all of the other stories out there.
I just hopped on the KC Mills train and I was not disappointed 🤎🤎🤎. Luv and T'air were all about unattached flings until their paths crossed. The attraction was instant. Not to mention the undeniable chemistry that left them feeling things neither had felt b4. I just loved how with a lil communication they overcomed the hurdles and everything flowed. Can't wait to see what Ebo and Lenox's stories turn out .
I have to say I absolutely loved T’air and Luv. Like, these two were perfectly matched for each other. On the outside looking in, Luv is this giant of a man who is seen as mean, aloof and unbothered by others. Then, T’air and Luv cross paths and a major impression is made on both of them.
This read was well written, funny as hell, and just all out good. Can’t wait to read the other Luke brothers books!
Luv was a tattoo artist who was at the top of his game. He minded his business, kept to himself and was about his brothers. He could be called mean because he was always mugging, quiet, or both. T’aire was a sexually free woman. She was single, and had no problems mingling. If the mingling turned into more she was open to it. These two run into each other and mugging is all they do. Who knew this encounter would turn into more. Great read!
You know when you know. Luv and T'air started out doing their usual individual things seeking casual sexual satisfaction. She was however clear about it being her last fling because her future was not about that life anymore. They were both seeking the same type of future but not at the same time. Enter their hearts knowing what the heart wants....Read it and see if your HEA thirst is quinched. Does this author ever disappoint?
True, they started out unconventionally but I'm happy that they followed the vibe that was flowing between them to see what could be. I cannot wait to read about Ebo and their younger brother. I like Luv's rugged gentleman type vibe but I think imma enjoy Ebo even more!!
I loved that the characters were flawed, they worked hard for their money which made them feel more realistic. No hidden millionaires. Although I like those kinds of books too, it’s nice to read one where regular people handle their business while being successful at finding love but not storybook. Now I want to read book 1
I enjoyed this one and if I remember correctly, this would be my first book from this author. Loved the storyline and the characters and the premise behind the entire book. Loved how the author tied it up nicely and gave the characters all a good HEA. Definitely moving on to the next book in the series. Need to ensure these brothers are safe and in love.
This is my first time reading a book by this author and I am thankful I did. I loved the back and forth dialogue and the passion exhibited between the main characters. The author also depicted T’air’s sexual freeness in a great way, it should be acceptable for all women to have whatever type of relationship she wants.
I'm really feeling this book! Sex started their relationship but sex is not the basis of it! Luz and T'Air were not supposed to be each others person! This is not your typical drug dealer bang bang shut em up love story that we read! This is something refreshing that I can relate to personally and truly a great book!
Now everyone know that you can’t turn a hoe into a housewife. However, apparently that’s what Ms. Mills tried to do. Ms. T’Air had more dead bodies than CoVid. Then had the nerve to demand a serious relationship. Unbelievable!!! She should have been demanding a STD test with her loose ass. So no, this was not the book for me.
Wow absolutely feel actually what T'air was coming from I was the same way until I met My husband 7 years ago been married now 6 years so I been in her shoes so no judgement But love sure did find me and also T'air & Luv now I'm looking forward to the Ebo and Lennox love story
The whole Luke brothers stories are not what I expected. I do want to apologize to those that personally loved it. I DID NOT! I listened to the audiobook and all three books the style of writing felt like I was in middle school. I won't try another book by this author. In total I've read 4 books by KC Mills. I know the narrators felt the same. It was very cringe 😬
3.5 ⭐️ This was a cute story of Luv & T’air. Both of them wanting just sex but the passion was there from the jump! Also, it was cool to see the close relationship between the brothers and how they were there for each other.
I listened to this via Audible and didn’t like the multiple narrators for Luv. One of them sounded sexy and the other sounded country.👎🏾
The only cringey thing in this book was the whole “my life is going to expire/be meaningless if I’m not partnered by 30” trope. Other than that, the characters were authentically flawed but likable. The plot was enjoyable, and the friendships were interesting and meaningful.
