Time and distance tore them apart.
Can they find their way back to each other?

Candy

My whole life I’ve remembered my first love, Walker Davis.
He was my first crush and my first kiss.
Walker might have been my first everything if fate hadn’t torn us apart.
My family moved away when I was still I school and I never saw him again.
Is it crazy for me to give up everything, drive across the country and try to find him again as an adult?
Maybe, but I’m doing it anyway.

After a childhood of being moved from pillar to post, Candy decides to return to Red Oak Mountain in search of her first love Walker to see if they have a chance at happiness. Arriving in town she settles in the Ozark Axe House to try and find accommodation and a job. She catches the interest of the mountain man running the axe house who keeps coming over to talk to her in between managing his other customers. He’s a very attractive man, but Candy is focussed on finding Walker. As the weather turns worse and it gets late, Candy finds herself without a place to stay. Maybe the mountain man can help her with this, and with finding Walker? This is a gorgeous short story about taking a chance on first love, with sweet characters, a festive atmosphere and some serious steam – recommended for readers looking for a hug from their Christmas reading.

Do you ever think about your first kiss? Your first “puppy” love? Even if it is from when you were in just high school, and your memory is fuzzy, the feelings still linger in your heart.
This is a delightful, sweet story about love lost, love found.
Walker and Candy are well-written, like-able characters.
The storyline is WONDERFUL, and the HEA is DELIGHTFUL. There is some steaminess that fits in well.
This is a standalone with no cliffhanger.

A charming story. I’m not going to give spoilers, but the reader will find out something interesting in Chapter Two. I liked both characters and would love to find Walker under my Christmas tree! (Actually, instead of a traditional tree, I hang a pine tree-shaped car freshener on my wall and then have some eggnog. But still.) Walker is HAWT.
Tropes- Second Chance, Mountain Man, Holiday Romance, Only One Bed, Instalove, Beards and Flannel.

Second chance Christmas feels

This is one of the better stories out of the bunch - I loved that there was only one smut scene because they left a lot of room for character development, setting, etc. This was a sweet story about two people who had both not seen each other since middle school but had secretly felt the same way - longing to see each other again. They almost get together without knowing who’s who, but once they find out, it’s instalove. I think the ending could have been better, but the story overall was very good.

These two were high school sweethearts until she had to move. They wrote but lost contact. Now she is back. He thinks he recognizes her when she is in the Axe House but the eye color is wrong. He does not look anything like his younger self. They spend time talking but never exchange names. I really enjoyed this story and the characters.

Welcome back to Red Oak Mountain! Another wonderful stand alone story about the mountain men that call this home.

Walker and Candy were each others' first love and first kiss back when they were in eighth grade. Then her family suddenly moved away and they lost touch.
Years later, Candy comes back to Red Oak Mountain to see if she can find Walker, but she meets a sexy mountain man instead.

“All I want for Christmas is the mountain man” by Lily birch

Second chance with first love. Such a sweet combination of going home trying to locate first love. Both characters are likable and sympathetic. Interesting new information about the specifics of axe throwing and maintenance of targets. Another wonderful stand alone story about the strong men and women who call Red Oak Mountain home.

Of all the axe throwing joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine. That should have been the tag line for this story. Walker and Candy were hilarious watching them be attracted to one another yet not knowing who the other was. Perhaps next time start out the conversation with introducing yourself.

A mutual desire with a bit of fate to lend a helping hand as Walker and Candy reconnect their long ago first love. Liked the sweetness of these characters and their spontaneity as they go all in.

This was an enjoyable story with Walker and Candy. Candy did get her Mountain Man and children too. Not long enough for me really, though I loved the ending too. She had a lovely boy - and was 8 and a half months pregnant with a girl, right at the end of the story. 4☆
