This is one of those books that have so much details that end of the book you kind of hope it didn’t have that much. Not that I disliked the book by any chance, I thoroughly enjoyed the book but I haven’t taken this long to finish a book in such a long time, especially I’ve been reading only that for the past two days. At times I felt as if the sex scenes were just too repetitive. In a way it said I will deliver the BDSM scene in a much clear way that the “vanilla shit that was Fifty Shades” but a certain way it did give the same ending as that. It was slightly more darker than the latter but still the story wove in the same way as it.
Despite the fact that it looks like I am telling all the cons of the story it is indeed not a bad book. The story flowed nicely and writing itself was good. I won’t go as far as saying it was poetic but it managed to hold my interest. Another positive factor is that the story nearly grapples you from the start. You are pulled in from the first chapter.
Would I give this author’s books another chance? Definitely, only if they are about half the length of this.

The latest story in Susan Arden' s Bad Boys series is the darkest she has written. This book is an adult read and not for those who are easily shocked but that said it is a compelling story full of heat and emotion.
Brandon leads a double life. He breeds and trains horses on the Evermore Ranch but also part owns a sex club. His shadow life lets him be his true self the one he hides from his close knit family but lately being one of the club's Dom's hasn't gone to plan.
Mia wants to escape from being her father's princess. She needs her grad school degree to do it. First she has to complete her thesis and carrying out research at a sex club is a necessary evil.
After a stormy first meeting full of heat and misunderstanding Brandon insists he is the only one to show Mia what happens in the club. He longs to tame her but will she cede to his dominance ? After visually sampling some of the club's activities Mia is intrigued but can she objectively carry out her research given her magnetic attraction to Brandon. In the name of science Mia agrees to wear Brandon's collar but there is fine line between observing and participation and her emotions make it hard not to cross the line.
The ethos of the club and the roles played within its inner sanctum are absorbing. Shocking and graphic but like a horror movie you have to read what happens next even if it's through half closed eyes. The antagonist's actions demonstrate the evils of drug abuse in a thoughtful believable way.
The McLemore's enhance the story with cameo appearances and soften its gritty edges with their understanding and support of Brandon and Mia. Selma and Esme the twins are also important characters used cleverly to show Mia's skill and Brandon's softer side and illustrate the vulnerability of girls and women.
Collared by the Cowboy combines a deeply emotional love story, the light in a dark world full of abuse and desperation. A must read for all fans of erotica and erotic romance.

Brandon is an intense man, "standing to her side, he nodded. A muscle along his sculpted jaw twitched. "Evening. Didn't we meet earlier?" I mean he is having some serious attraction to Mia, "who the eff cared if they'd just met or not? His di**, for one, could not care less about timelines. All he wanted to do was get rid of his clothes, her clothes and thrust balls-deep until they both were sated first, exhausted second." I meanI just love him, "and that's what you want. Night after night of me effing you, but not for real. Any way I desired. You riding my co** as I make you scream my name in there." He jerked his chin to his bedroom then slowly said, "But only pretend." There is a lot of chemistry between them, "baby." His body shuddered and he laughed, then he wondered aloud, "You sure know what to say. How much of this is your project and you playing a part?" It seems like their relationship has gone so far that when Brandon is seriously upset it's Mia that can only bring him back down to earth, "his furious desire for retribution waned, spiraling, and under her hands on his arms, subsided. This is my first Susan Arden book and it won't be my last! I loved it! It was so sexy and dirty (in a really, really good way!). Mia is going to school because she's hoping to become a therapist. She's close to graduating but wants to find out why any woman would want to be dominated by any man. Mia decides to go undercover at Spurs & Leather. She encounters Brandon. He begins to show her exactly how he came to be the 'head Dom'. Then Mia discovers something unexpected....she likes being Brandon's Sub!
You get to know a lot about Brandon's character. He's been damaged because of a woman. There re reasons he is in this field of work.
The story was awesome! I literally could not put it down once I began reading it. Mia and Brandon were both likeable and I wanted to know more about them. The sex? Amazing!

I love this book, it was hot and fun. WARNING: once you start to read it you will be sucked into Mia and Brandon's world. I love Susan's writing style and the detail she book into this book and all her other book shows that she is a genius at writing. YES if you like bdsm type books this is the book for you. YOU will not be disappointed. It makes me want to visit Spurs & Leather. LOL =)This book does touch base with some serious issues. Worth the read.

First off this book has been provided to me by the author for my honest review.
I have never read a book by Susan Arden and can say I was happily shocked. The details, the sex, the love the suspense. This book has it all.
Mia is doing her graduate thesis on a submissive's mind. Brandon owns the sex club that she is observing. The sparks between these two are incredible. I couldn't wait to see how their relationship evolved!!
I was so happy to see the details in every scene were done down to a T. Maybe its been a long time since I read a book where the author paid such attention to the little details that it made this book the more enjoyable to me.
Ended up buying all of her books from the Bad Boy Series. Cannot wait to read more from her.

Love this series! The author has a way of sucking you into a story. The Mclemore's are awesome. This story shows you a little into the lives of a Dom and his sub and shows you that really the sub is the one in control of the relationship, he may control her body but she controls what goes on and how far it will go and that he gets pleasure from pleasuring her. I thoroughly enjoyed this book it was so well written. This book had a little of everything humor, some action serious issues(rarely addressed) about rape and drug use, there were some great love scenes between two people who were made for each other. If I could have given more than 5 stars I would have.

3 and half stars, rounding it up to 4 HOT stars!!
First of all, I think that I could have enjoyed this book more, if I'd read the first 4 books before this one. I'm not sure one can give it a just review without reading the other books first.
Second, this was a fast-paced book, you kinda get into it quickly; and suddenly you're finished! In a good way ;)
Third, it was HOT! All the scenes were really steamy!
As for the story line and plot, you get fully engaged with the characters trying to figure where things are going.
Lovely work!

This novel was just plain boring. Maybe I am expecting too much in a BDSM novel nowadays, but after having struggled through half of the novel I started skipping large parts. D

Hmmm what can I say! This was a really good story, loved how timid Mia came across but she was really sassy with a smart mouth.
How sweet was the big bad Dom? Brandon was great, very attentive, although sometimes its a little hard to believe that someone can know what the other person is feeling or wanting, especially as they have only know each other for a very short time.
The scenes were fab to the point that I wanted to be in Mia's place enjoying what she was.
Brandon was a very loyal, trustworthy guy whereas Mia came over as a little shy, she didn't want to give up her own self worth due to a previous relationship, she was a little fiery but she had the sweetest nature.
You can identify with both Brandon and Mia especially outside of the Spurs and Leathers club.
Brandon was great with his family, seemed to be the go to brother but family was the biggest bond throughout the book.
I loved the sassy twins Esme and Selma, and with how Brandon dealt with them but Mia shone through working out the reason why the girls were the way they were.
Mia was not very good at taking orders inside and outside the bedroom and club; she had a mischievous attitude.
These two both fell very hard for each other and its generally the lady's being open and honest early but it was quite refreshing that Brandon made all the first moves.
I loved the suspense with both the ex's and Beau certainly got what was coming to him. I was on the edge of my seat throughout that whole section and was so pleased with the outcome.
This is a story about love and understanding, about being honest with yourself, about putting your trust totally onto someone else!

I really enjoyed this book. It was HOT! However I have to say that there were a few parts in the book where what was happening didn't make sense or just didn't seem to fit into the book, it didn't affect the story or your enjoyment of the book but it did make me deduct a star from an otherwise 5 star read.
Mia wants to write a thesis on female sexuality and one of the aspects that she wishes to write about is that of a submissive/dom relationship. This leads her to Spurs & Leather and Brandon. Brandon is the head dom and joint owner of the club but is wary of women having been burned from his previous relationship. However the spitfire that is Mia has him rethinking everything that he has been trying to avoid and all he can think about is that fact that he has to have her. The sexual tension between them is that steamy!
I loved Brandon, Mia I loved her but also wanted to slap her at the same time. She had a focus on what she thought she should be doing rather than what she wants to be doing and that at times really irritated me. I adored Brandon's family, be it his brothers or cousins. Mia's ex on the other hand...... I had high hopes for this book. When reading the description I was reminded of Cowboy Casanova by Lorelei James, but Collared falls way short of that mark.
After getting to the halfway point in the book, I got the feeling that the story was cobbled together to connect a lot of sex scenes. I wasn't invested in the main characters at all, and really didn't believe that they would fall for each other so fast and completely. I was never really clear as to why Mia was using Spurs and Leather as the place to do her research, or what exactly her thesis was about. Nor did I get how her agreeing to be a "pretend" sub meant that she was also agreeing to a physical relationship with him.
There were scenes that were way too long, (6 pages of Brandon giving Mia oral sex is one example), dialogue that wasn't needed nor made any sense (Brandon and Mia saying goodbye to his new SIL at the wedding reception), and plenty of instances where the character agrees to something then spends the next few paragraphs saying how he or she isn't sure about what they just agreed to doing.
The copy I received was in need of a good editing. Missing words and incorrect tenses were the major problems in my copy. Considering the author has a special "acknowledgement" note at the end of her legalities thanking her editing team/company, I expected an easier flowing read. I realize I may have been sent a copy that slipped past the editing process, but was surprised at the lack of attention to detail.
Overall, the story was OK, and got better as you got to the end of the book, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Maybe Mia expected a little wild and a little crazy. However, she had no idea what was in store for her when she began researching the BDSM club for her thesis and this was the perfect place to start. She wanted to go above and beyond to help young women who had been victims of sever and traumatic abuse. Although she hadn’t planned on uncovering her own deepest desires, but with Brandon crossing that line came all too easy. But when it’s time to leave can he convince her to stay?
Once you start this read, you are going to have a hard time putting it down. The chemistry between Mia and Brandon is steamy. You can’t help but hold on for the next step in their relationship. There is a great balance between desire and love with the characters. The drive when Mia ends up missing and the way he risks everything wraps you in the connection like a warm blanket. Also, the description in the scenes makes you wish there was a Spurs & Leather around the corner.
This book has passionate sexual situations that will get your blood pumping. I highly recommend Collared by the Cowboy for the adult reader, 18+. Find out what happens when the proverbial flood gates are opened to a world of pleasures beyond vanilla and the desire to be together takes over. Research or not, it all starts with a Yes, Sir.

I can't rate this book because it was okay to me I didn't love it and I didn't hate it, but okay is only 2 stars and I wouldn't want to bring the rating down. 2 stars looks bad and it wasn't a bad book.
Brandon is a Dom that owns a sex club while still maintaining his family ranch. After being scorned by his ex he's had quite the dry spell not even wanting to partake in his kink and getting lost in work. No one has interested him and he's not willing to throw himself out there again...that is until he sees her.
Mia is finishing up grad school and needs an awesome thesis to land her a job far away from this town. She decides to do a case study on woman's sexuality and uncover the world of BDSM. What she doesn't realize is just how much she craves it too. Now working with Brandon,they decide the best way to learn is to practice.
I think this book had a lot of potential. I just thought some of the lines were corny and Brandon bottomed out pretty quickly. I liked Mia's feistiness and sass. It was just a little to fast for me to fall in love and not feel the chemistry.

Brandon McLemore is a real cowboy in every way. He's a handsome, confident stud who is part owner of a sex club and he is also a well known Dom. He breaks in new fillies ( horses and women) and is a badass. He is not looking for a relationship or a sub to train until Mia walks into his club. He finds himself drawn to her.
Mia is a student who wants to do in-depth study of the sex club and gets hands on when she meets Brandon. She's not looking for any relationship either. Just got out of a bad one, and she only wants to do her thesis paper and get out of dodge. She's given up on men.
I don't read many cowboy romances, but I really enjoyed this one. It flows well and it keeps your interest, and the further you get into the book, it gets better and better. There's some mystery, fight action, and great sex scenes.
Hadn't read this author before, but I've looked her up and purchased the books before this one thats about the rest of the bad boys McLemore clan.
I appreciate the author giving me the opportunity to read and review.
Brandon McLemore is a real cowboy in every way. He's a handsome, confident stud who is part owner of a sex club and he is also a well known Dom. He breaks in new fillies ( horses and women) and is a badass. He is not looking for a relationship or a sub to train until Mia walks into his club. He finds himself drawn to her.
Mia is a student who wants to do in-depth study of the sex club and gets hands on when she meets Brandon. She's not looking for any relationship either. Just got out of a bad one, and she only wants to do her thesis paper and get out of dodge. She's given up on men.
I don't read many cowboy romances, but I really enjoyed this one. It flows well and it keeps your interest, and the further you get into the book, it gets better and better. There's some mystery, fight action, and great sex scenes.
Hadn't read this author before, but I've looked her up and purchased the books before this one thats about the rest of the bad boys McLemore clan.
I appreciate the author giving me the opportunity to read and review.

Thank God is over, I think I get into this one with too high expectations and was awfully dissapointed.
On the bright side, it is (somewhat) well written and has a lot of steamy pages (and I mean a LOT) but even that couldn't get me in the mood of reading it with other feeling different than a what a chore makes you feel.
The whole idea in the blurb looked ok but just put in motion, it didn't work. It was silly and all kind of absurd that project of hers, that the reader is not even given the chance to fully grasp because no one addresed to it.... and after that it was a silly battle of wills of a hardheaded couple that spend a lot of time together but really didn't seem to talk about anything meaningful...
Trow in the mix a couple of dumbass villains, that didn't make sense on their right to be mean and you just have a book
This took me way too long and I was more that ready to put this down to whatever cause arise, so no. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone. If you're looking for a book that is silly as silly can get but has lots of steamy moments... then you have a go.

This is the first book I have read by Susan Arden and I loved it! I have already bought a few more books because I thought this one was so good. I will have to start at the beginning of the series and read every last one! Mia is in grad school and ends up at Spurs & Leather to do her thesis. Brandon isn’t aware of Mia’s intentions when she walks through the door but he is already fascinated by her. Brandon’s ex-girlfriend did a number on him and he has taken a break from being the house Dom at S & L, but Mia ignites something in him and he is ready to do whatever it takes to have her wear his collar for more than just the length of her research for her thesis.
Characters: The characters are well written and I could connect with both Mia and Brandon easily.
Sex: The sex was off the charts! Holy hotness was it good!

Mia is going to collage because she's wants to become a therapist. She's close to graduating but wants to find out why any woman would want to be dominated by a man. She decides to go to Brandon's club because it is the least intimating of the sex/dom clubs around.
She ends up becoming Brandon's sub and wearing his collar she actually enjoys it.
I get all of that and I really enjoyed that part. The chemistry was great and the sex was amazing.
You get to know a lot about Brandon's character. He's been damaged because of a woman (pervious sub) & about Mia who has been left heartbroken in the past.
What I don't get was the twins. I just did not see the point.of them or their story just silly things like that niggles me a bit. It was only mentioned a couple of times and I think it was pointless. Maybe if they had went into it more it might have changed my opinion.
So for that reason I am caught between a 3* or 4* so I'm going to go with 3.5*.

Received an ARC for review
I am on the fence with a 4.5 and 5 stars. This book grabbed me from the very beginning. However I found the trauma part Beau to be a little to easy to handle since his family owns the whole town. Also Selma and Esme's whole story was just ended. So there were too huge scandals to unfold and it seems like they were just brushed under the rug as this is what happened in one sentence. Then for Brandon to just up and sell like the club did not mean anything. What happened to Val, was she prosecuted.
With all that being said I loved Brandon and Mia's characters. I was curious to see if her overprotective dad would have something to say about them being together but I guess that was not in this story.
I do like the fact that I have not read any of the other books of the series I was curious if I would be missing parts of the history but the books are part of a series that is not dependent on the others but reading them would probably build more background.

Wow! I can be a very picky reader when it comes to the BDSM themed romance type stories, but I am more than happy to say that I definitely enjoyed this one. It was deliciously hot and something different to what I've used to. I love the lifestyle and I happen to personally enjoy cowboys so Brandon was all fantasy rolled up into one character and then in comes sweet, bookish,adventurous, an easy to relate to Mia. What a combination. Mia thinks she can come into Brandon's BDSM scene objectively like a therapist and leave with a great thesis, but little does she know how much of an affect it will all have on her and how much one cowboy can change her life. Their chemistry is fun and deliciously hot. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a fun, sexy, cowboy read!

I don't normally like erotica because it's usually a lot of sex scenes with a flimsy excuse of a plot, very boring. This is not the case, this book has a real strong plot, two well-developed characters, a lovely love story and to top it off, intrigue. Mia is a graduate psychology student, specializing in sexual therapy, and she wants to investigate the Spurs and Leathers sex club. Brandon has two lives: the cowboy who raises throughbed horses and the Resident Dom at the Spurs and Leathers sex club of which he is co-owner. When he meets Mia and is convinced by his partner to cooperate, he's intrigued by her innocence, passion and the wild woman he sees hidden in her eyes. Both embark in a journey of discovery where they learn a lot about each other and Mia discovers her inner submissive. I loved their story, and liked the additional dimension of intrigue and danger. If the author were to take off the sex scenes, she would still have a strong good book to show off.

Whew! Be prepared to have your heart stolen then have a spare set of panties handy. Susan Arden takes us on a truly sensual and erotic journey as Mia steps in to Spurs and Leathers to research sex clubs. What Mia never expected was finding her Dominant and that he would open up her soul and spirit to reveal parts of her that she didn't know existed. Brandon is sex on a stick and from the moment he sees Mia he finds a soul connection he has never experienced with any other woman. Now he has to get Mia to trust him and open up to him. Their sexual adventures will keep you on the edge of your seat, Brandon has a gift for pleasing his woman. Of course, with love there has to be drama which surfaces in the form of an ex-boyfriend for Mia. I really didn't expect this twist but loved how all of the elements tied together. A fabulous fantasy escape!

This is a really good book. It has an engaging storyline, it is not too dark, nor too sweet. It is hot and steamy, and has a run of plot twists which kept me slightly nervous. I consider the need to shut a book for a minute or two to calm down to be a clear indication of a good book. That happened more than a few times. There were some lovely humorous moments too, as well as high drama.
I highly recommend you grab a copy, go hide away somewhere and be prepared to travel to Paris, Texas, home to an extremely hot cowboy!

Gotta throw it out there that I've never gone for a cowboy erotica romance novel, so receiving this book was a good tryout for me. Surprisingly I enjoyed the book much more than I initially expected, but at a certain point, I sort of tuned out from the plot? It's possible that I'm used to really angsty and intense plots, so this was quite a tone-down for me.
But I must admit that the book has some HOT SCENES, the BDSM didn't come off too strong, which is to my liking! ;) The overall plot was generally good with some humor thrown in. Gotta love Mia and her sassy mouth also!
A 4-stars recommendation if you love your erotica thrown in with a sexy cowboy ;)

wow you want something that grabs you by the balls and takes you for a provocative ride well open up this book!
now if your not into the BDSM lifestyle that's ok but I will warn you it just touches on some of the lifestyle though you may be shocked its ok. but if this offends you sorry to hear that your missing a good read that's for sure.

Wow. Mia and Brandon are explosive together. The book starts out very detailed and really gets your mind wondering what Mia & Brandon are each looking for. Mia has a side to her that she seems afraid to show completely. Brandon isn't afraid to show his naughty side, but that isn't a turn off for Mia.
This book has a lot of exciting twists and turns. When the exes come back to town things really begin to get crazy.
Mrs. Arden does a fabulous job with all elements of the book. There is a lot more to this storyline then just the tale of the cowboy...
I will read more of Arden's work in the future. Definitely need to go back and read about the other McElmore brothers!

A great story. Brandon is very intense cowboy that owns his own private sex club, "S&L". He no longer gets involve being a Dom due to his ex. Mia is studying in college and is doing a thesis. She wanted to do a study on BDSM. In order to do her thesis she needed to observe the S&L club and learned about the Dom and Sub world. Brandon didn't know Mia was here to observe. So when they both met Brandon was very arrogant and Mia was trying to fit in. The story was great. I loved the beginning and the end kept you in suspense. Very sexy also had a few emotional twist.
