Doctors #4

Doctor Fake Fiancé

Rate this book
What’s a heartbroken American to do when she’s in London trying to get over her ex? Find herself a fake fiancé. Obviously.

I’m walking past Big Ben, trying to get over the world’s worst break up, when I slam into a hot hunk of British man.

And pour scorching hot coffee all over him.

My caffeine casualty not only forgives me for ruining his shirt, but when I ramble on about needing to distract the press from my recent heartbreak, he agrees to be my pretend prince charming faster than you can say 'espresso'.

Our agreement is clear: nothing is real.

Except the more time we spend pretending to be a couple, the harder it is to keep my side of the bargain. And his smoldering stare tells me he might be having the same problem.

And then we have a game night. Maybe it’s naked Twister that pushes us over the edge.

I’m starting to think my fake fiancé might be husband material.

For real.

I love the warm, cozy feel about this whole story.

Once you open this book, you are captivated by the story. Bay develops characters that are likable and so perfect together. I honestly liked them both, and I really liked them together.

Dr. Fake Fiancé is a heartwarming yet steamy story that tugs on your heartstrings. The plot is familiar and I was not looking forward to a “famous” person vs a doctor connection as it felt like a stretch, but Bay wove her magic and the story turned out perfectly.

This book brings everything we love about a romance. Great characters that are fun and pleasant to read about. Plenty of heat and hotness that fires you up. And a happily ever after that is sweet. I am looking forward to the next installment of the Doctors Series!

This story is one that is hard to put down and leaves you with a smile on your face! So much love for Dr. Fake Fiancé as Bay captivates us again!

I loved the lightheartedness of this book. It gave a really cozy vibe. I enjoyed the beginning of the book but as it progressed I got bored which probably is a me thing. But I did enjoy catching up with the rest of the Cove clan.

Dr. Fake Fiancé is the fourth book in the Doctor series, but it could be read as a standalone. I highly recommend not only this novel but also the previous ones.

This was a fabulous read, I enjoyed it from the first page until the last. The writing was captivating, the storyline well done and the characters and complex and lovely.

Vivian Cross, famous american singer, escaped to London to find some freedom from paparazzi that started to follow her after her breakup of her long lasting relationship. Here she meets a hot GP that ignores who she is, but still he wants to spend time with her. When paparazzi pop Vivian happy bubble, and Beau finds out she is famous, he still wants to be her friend, and when she needs a fake boyfriends he comes forward. This is the beginning of their beautiful adventure.

Vivian and Beau come from different worlds, but their attraction and their will to learn to know their true selves push them together in a very compelling relationship. They help each other to understand what's the better path to follow for their future, and they make each other happy.

I've not only loved the time Beau and Vivian spend together alone, but also the family times with Beau's parents and brothers. The Coves are so chaotic and endearing I'd like to be part of their fam so bad.

Loved Beau & Viv!

Beau Cove is fourth youngest out of the five Cove brothers. He is sweet, devilishly charming and incredibly handsome. He’s a doctor, following in the footsteps of his famous parents. Beau’s a thrill seeker, always looking for his next big adventure. Meeting a famous singer hiding out in London was a fluke. Spending time getting to know her and then agreeing to be her fake boyfriend is no big deal. He wants to be helpful, just don’t ask him to stick around long term.

Vivian Cross is an American pop superstar, on a lesser scale than Taylor Swift. She’s hiding out in London nursing her broken heart. She’s wary of everyone and has her guard up 24/7. Being betrayed by someone close to you will do that. Their meet cute happens over coffee, which leads to a walk. Their friendship forms slowly, reminiscent of the movie Notting Hill. Instead of hanging out with his friends, she meets his loud and boisterous family. Love the Coves, mama Carole & dad John always lighten the story with laughs while doling out sage advice.

Only trouble is, when something fake starts to feel very real and you find yourselves at a crossroad, which path do you choose? And will you part ways or travel it together?

I really enjoy Louise Bay’s writing. Every time I read one of her books it makes me want to hop a plane and visit the UK. Hopefully someday! Looking forward to Dax’s story next.

Overall Grade: B

Tropes: he falls first; fake engagement; pop star FMC; golden retriever MMC

Louise Bay’s Dr. Fake Fiance is definitely my favorite story of her The Doctors series. All of the stories in these books offer FMCs and MMCs that burrow their way into your heart. However, Beau and Vivan have something a bit more magical between them. For one, at a time when Swifties have fallen hard for Taylor and Travis Kelce’s romance, Beau and Vivian’s story has a similar feel. It’s easy to love Beau in Dr. Fake Fiance. He doesn’t take life too seriously and doesn’t know that Vivian is a superstar in hiding. He is a loveable “golden retriever” of a hero. In contrast, Vivian is guarded. She’s been hurt by the machinations of her former long-time fiance and burned by the media. London provides her with the perfect cover, but Vivian and Beau’s instant chemistry makes it difficult for her to keep hiding. Louise Bay has crafted Vivan and Beau so that friendship quickly morphs into something deeper and scary for both of them. While Beau is seemingly easy-going, we recognize that his past trauma has actually impacted him more than he ever suspects, and Vivian is granted the opportunity to take control of her life. Their story arcs are interesting and engaging, and you will find yourself cheering for their happy ending.

Add to this the cornerstone of Bay’s The Doctors series: the familial bond of Beau’s family. This is the tether between the stories, and it acts as the grounding force for the internal struggles of this series's heroes and heroines. It does the same for Vivian and Beau, allowing them some normalcy in their chaotic world. The guidance of Beau’s parents and his brothers' wisdom becomes the impetus for Beau to move forward.

If your Roman Empire is currently the Taylor + Travis romance, you absolutely want to read Louise Bay’s Dr. Fake Fiance.

Dr. Fake Fiancé is Beau’s story! He’s the youngest of the Cove brothers and is the most unsettled! He traipses around the world living life to fullest and never taking anything for granted. But lately there’s a hole in his life and trying to piece together what that means hasn’t been easy.

One fateful run in with a beautiful woman sets him on a path he didn’t anticipate. Vivian Cross is a pop star looking for relaxation and anonymity! She wants her space and freedoms from the press. When a run in with a pap leads to her needing a cover Beau steps in to play the doting roll of fake boyfriend. Lines get crossed and these two embark on a journey of love and discovery neither saw coming!

I love the Cove family and how they are there for one another! Beau seriously has the biggest heart and I love how he wanted to give Vivian the world! His quiet steadfast nature was hidden under his restlessness but it was just waiting for the right person!

I will not lie Vivian’s team did irk me a little and I felt it took her a while to find her voice but when she did I loved how strong and fierce she became. She showed a lot of growth through this story and in the end I love what she finally did for herself and for love!

'The Doctor is in, and he's in a lot deeper than he anticipated. Louise Bay delivers another heart-pumping edition to her Doctors series! - The British Bibliophile

NOTE - This review will be spoiler-free as standard, but will make reference to the book's blurb. If you wish to go into this read blind without knowing a thing about it, please scroll away from my review now :)

Dr. Fake Fiancé is the fourth book in Louise Bay's The Doctors series. A series documenting the lives of the famous, and incredibly irresistible Cove brothers. For this latest instalment, we're paging Dr. Beau Cove. We've seen him mentioned in previous books in the series, but here's his moment to show us what he's really made of.

As always with my reviews for this series, it's time to talk topes before we get into the nitty gritty. Here's what you're looking at for Dr. Fake Fiancé :

✔ Strangers to Lovers
✔ Different Worlds
✔ Hero with an Accent
✔ Fake Engagement/Fake Relationship
✔ Billionaire
✔ He Falls First
✔ Naked Twister
✔ She's Famous & He Doesn't Recognise Her
✔ Secret Identity (Kind of!)
✔ Afraid to Commit (Him)
✔ Road Trip

Some of these are official tropes listed by Louise in some of her posts on Instagram, but I've thrown in a few here and there that I think are relevant and apply to the story from a reader's perspective. All in all, there's something in this read for everyone. There are plenty in here that appeal to me and made me keen to get into this read, and I wasn't disappointed with my choice in tropes and how Louise wrote them with this storyline and its characters.

Speaking of, now it's time to get down to the book itself. It's a special one!

London is the city that welcomes one and all, and where one and all can be anything they want to be. Nothing is too bizarre and the extraordinary is the norm. Which is probably why in a city where anything is possible and everyone comes to, a certain doctor doesn't recognise one of the most famous pop stats of the time when she quite literally runs into him in one of the most normal places on the planet. A coffee shop. She's in London, in disguise, hiding from the tabloids and she slams right into a big wall of British man. A hot hunk of a man, at that.

This is where things as accustom to the fast-paced nature of the London lifestyle, really speed up.

Beau and Vivian were always destined to go from strangers to friends, they just expedited the process. By a speedy three days! He's not just a friend to her now, but a fiancé. Its fake, of course, but to only the few in the small circle orchestrating the diversion of attention by the tabloids away from Vivian's recent break-up with her now ex-boyfriend to her new beau, Beau. The only thing is, as fake as they all are fully aware it is, it's not starting to feel that way when he looks at her. He makes her shiver--in a good way--, and when he touches her he does more than melt her, he turns her into molten lava.

This is the time for them to reminds themselves, as well as each other, that neither of them are looking for anything serious. But will they listen? Tasty is the forbidden fruit, especially when YOU are the one making it forbidden because when you eventually take a bite? It's going to be all the more delicious.

Did you catch the part about naked Twister in the trope list? Because that's pretty hard thing to ignore from Vivian's perspective when the two take the game quite literally to the next level, shedding clothes with each spin of the arrow. She's no fool to ignore the fact that Dr. Beau Cove looks just as hot with his clothes off as he does with them on, but will she confess that looking at him like this, in this way, makes him the stuff husband material is made of? Only diving into the pages of this book will give you the answer.

Dr Fake Fiancé starts off with the classic meet-cute that we all know and love. Two strangers meeting in a place that any of us could walk into ourselves, and their story stems from there. You never forget an interesting encounter in a coffee shop, that's for sure. Vivian is no exception. Wanting to escape a life back home in the states and the situation there, she merely swaps one kind for another and I was all here for it. Trouble did not only just followed her, it trippled and passed it to the next person, as the saying goes.

The title by default, gives away just what would happen to our two main characters at some point, but it was in the getting to that point that would be the attention-grabbing part. And boy, did Beau get our attention and then some. At the crossroad of his own life not knowing which way to turn next, he turns in Vivian's direction while in his head, still figuring out what he wants out of life. For now, that's Vivian. At least, in the non-romantic, helping-out-a-stranger-by-introducting-her-to-his-family kind of way. He doesn't hesitate to do whatever it takes to help her out, even if he doesn't know who she is at first, as this is another new adventure for him. Maybe not the kind he's often so used to seeking out, but he's always up for a new challenge and this one is perhaps his biggest yet.

I have to be honest, Beau isn't my favourite Cove brother to-date but , he's up there. Vincent still holds the trophy but Louise gives us a great, down-to-earth and loveable character in Beau that I have every faith will be someones favourite. At the end of the day, he was written for Vivian's character and I think this literary pairing compliments each other perfectly.

Someday, I'd love to have something like this happen to me. The meeting a man in a coffee shop, not the being famous and running from the tabloids part. Let's manifest this together, ladies!

Four strong stars!

Louise Bay is one of my favourite 1 click authors. I know I can rely on her to give me a beautiful romance book with all the feels.
She gives us books with lovable characters. Book boyfriends to swoon over & feisty heroines that bring them down to their knees !!

Dr Fake fiancée is book 4 in the Dr’s series. This is Beau & Vivian’s story.
Each book is a stand-alone but characters from previous books do cross over, I would recommend reading all the previous books in the series.

From the very first page I was consumed by Beau & Vivian. What started out as a relationship of convenience soon developed into a beautiful love story. Initially neither one is looking for a relationship as both have been hurt by past relationships but they didn’t anticipate each other & they can’t deny their attraction & feelings for one another.

I got “Notting Hill vibes” from their initial meeting. Luckily it was my day off so I devoured it in one sitting. I didn’t want to put it down.
It was full of witty banter & spice (I’ll never look at twister the same 🔥)
This is a fantastic addition to an already brilliant series. I love the Cove family, plus Louise treated us to cameo’s from the previous books !

Louise has such a BEAUTIFUL writing style. I was lucky enough to meet her at Rare23London & she’s a beautiful lady, inside & out.
I’ll definitely be adding Dr fake fiancé to my paperback collection.

I absolutely recommend this series

Cove men are gorgeous!

Another hot, sexy Cove. I have enjoyed this series and love the author. Beau is a real sweetheart, in a very sexy way. He is so thoughtful and kind and was perfect for Vivian. The fake fiancé part was not taken too seriously, which i liked. Beau was a bit of a lost soul and found Vivian at a perfect time in his life. Some insecurities and a rash decision was rectified and they got their happy ever after.

Loved this one! Definitely my favourite of the series

Bay makes the focus of a lot of these books self-discovery and here too, for both Hero and heroine.

The relationship is pretty much the definition of insta-love and I'd usually hate that but they're both likeable so I just went along with it 🤷🏻‍♀

Vivian and Beau are both trying to figure out what they want from life, from their careers and from relationships but over the course of the book they realise that the main thing they want? It's the other in their life 🥹 *cue me aww'ing*

also the spice was spicing

The story begins abruptly, the characters lack dimension, and the dialogue is artificial. The book is different from what is promised in the blurb.

Very lukewarm, very average. The marketing tagline of "She’s famous. He hasn’t a clue who she is." - how misleading when Vivian literally reveals her identity few chapters in.

Overall, the story was fun at times, and I do enjoy a cast of characters, but this mysterious something that makes me giddy over a couple was just missing here. Everything felt forced and robotic, or perhaps I was just not feeling it. The reasons for Beau's and Vivian's break-up at the end also felt barely explored, and then they are back together just like that. Meh.

P.S. If you're writing your main character as a world-famous singer-songwriter, and decide to share the lyrics the character is writing, it'd be a great thing if said lyrics were actually catchy and did not suck. Just saying!

This is another funny, warm romance by this author; the characters are so incredibly likable and interesting.
The flirting and fast friendship that develops between famous pop star Vivian and Dr. Beau Cove was such an enjoyable and feel good story.
She’s hiding out in London after a bad break-up and the Paparazzi hounding her, he’s only in London for a quick return to his regular life before he goes on another international adventure.
They start as safe friends because neither one wants anything more. There’s an expiration date on their time together. However, the attraction and chemistry is obvious. It only grows as they get to know each more.
This couple finds the other refreshing and amazing…. How can that not turn into more?
I loved their conversations, their honesty and the pure happiness they brought to each other made me giddy.
The Cove family from previous books in the series make appearances, they are a family I would beg to be a part of. They are simply incredible.
This is a bit of a slow burn that becomes really steamy and a bit sweet. Beau is a very generous man ;)
It’s a story that had me reading until I couldn’t stay awake a second longer.
Mild complications and confused feelings happen and the couple have to decide what is important in their lives.
It’s heartfelt, it’s fun and it’s hot. I think this may be my favorite in this series, but I’ve loved them all.
They are interconnected standalone’s, they can be read out of order, but I think it could mess with the flow and there’s mild spoilers for the other Cove brothers.
I love this series and this book was fantastic!

I loved this meet cute romance featuring between singing sensation Vivian and GP Beau. Vivian has fled to London to get over a bad breakup in an attempt to avoid the paparazzi who have been hounding her every step. When she goes for her daily coffee, she bumps into Beau and blanks him when he tries to strike up a conversation fearing he’d recognised her. The following day the ice is broken when she spills her coffee over him and she realises he has no idea who she is. They gradually spend time together until Beau volunteers to play the part of fake fiancé to keep the press at bay.

With likeable characters and a semi meet cute introduction Dr Fake Fiancé is a beautifully sweet and tender love story and I loved the gradual deepening of Beau and Vivian’s relationship as they went from friends to lovers. Although Vivian and Beau have fantastic chemistry theirs is a bit of a slowburn romance. Neither is looking for love, Vivian is just out of a twelve-year relationship while Beau has just been shot down by his last girlfriend when he wanted more than she was willing to give although this was more of a hit to his ego rather than his heart. The banter between them is great and they share an amusing love of boardgames. They both have their issues and there is some angst especially over Vivian major trust issues due to her ex-fiancé’s betrayal while Beau is a bit of a lost character who is looking for something from life but he’s not sure what.

Firstly, I was given an ARC (my first ever!) of Dr Fake Fiancé in exchange for an honest review.

The only thing that makes me sad is that now we’ve got Nathan, Jacob, Zach, Vincent and Beau all loved-up, there’s only one more Cove brother to go (Dax). I always get the biggest smile on my face when the Coves (and their ladies) descend on Norfolk. It’s as comforting as the big, hearty meals waiting for you in the Coves’ kitchen after a long walk on the windswept beaches. Mrs Cove always has the right advice to give her boys when they’ve got a dilemma and Mr Cove is hilarious, guarding his precious Argentinian Malbec and pretend-grumbling about having the house full to bursting again and the imaginatively-named Dog of course.

Louise Bay is one of my favourite authors and I really think the Doctors Series is one of her best. On top of all this, I love books about fictional musicians. Vivian is such a sweetheart, completely unaffected by her fame. She and Beau might meet by accident in a coffee shop but I could tell they were perfect for each other from the very beginning. There was instant chemistry between them and Beau is the total opposite of Vivian’s horrible ex, Matt. He’s secure enough in himself that he doesn’t feel the need to try and compete with Vivian and instead just wants the best for her. An American pop star with a broken heart and a British GP with a dislocated shoulder might not sound like they’d have very much in common but they were both at a crossroads in their lives and I really like how they helped each other figure out what’s next.

Dr. Beau Cove…successful physician, thrill seeker, devoted to family and friends, strikingly handsome, a gentleman, and a flirty, dirty talker, what’s not to love.  Louise Bay made him the total package.

Now Beau has a chance meeting with a woman that catches his interest.   He’s still recovering from the end of his last relationship but this woman is different.   What he doesn’t know is this woman is a famous musician that’s in hiding from life.  Vivian Cross is loved around the world but she’s just escaped to Beau’s corner of it after a tumultuous breakup.

These two do a little dance around their flirting until they realize they like spending time together. Both have trust issues and both swear they aren’t looking for anything serious.  When Beau sees that Vivian needs rescuing, he is more than happy to do the honors.  He agrees to become her fake fiancé.  Problem is, it doesn’t feel fake.  But both have trust issues and both refuse to acknowledge there’s more to their relationship.

When things get tough, they both run.  Unfortunately, they both realize how miserable they are apart.   Their worlds collided, they can’t possibly find a middle ground, could they?

I love how Louise Bay allowed this couple to find their way slowly.  Love certainly came upon them softly as they say.  These Cove Men are simply irresistible!

Three and a half stars.

After betrayal by her boyfriend of 12 years musical superstar (think Taylor Swift or Adele) Vivian runs away to London and anonymity before the launch of her worldwide tour to launch her new album.

Beau thought he and his friend with benefits Coral were a great match, he even suggested they move in together, but she laughed in his face and said he wasn't the sort of guy that girls got serious about. After a childhood accident which left him with extensive burns on his body Beau has always tried to live life to the full, whether that's climbing in the Himalayas, base jumping, or husky mushing, and he locums as a GP in between adrenalin rushes.

When they literally run into each other at a coffee shop Beau doesn't recognise Vivian and they strike up a tentative friendship. While Vivian doesn't totally trust Beau, after what she's been through who could blame her, she is intrigued by the fact that he seems to be interested in her as a person, not the pop legend. So when her manager suggests a fake romance to divert the media's attention from her ex-boyfriend's bitter rants about her in the press, Beau is happy to step up - they both know this isn't real, its just one friend helping out another, isn't it?

I really enjoyed this, Beau and Vivian were a nice couple.

🌶️🌶️🌶️ (and what you get is SOOOO good)

This story follows Beau and Vivian who have a very awkward meet cute in a coffee shop where Vivian accidentally spills her hot coffee all over Beau. Beau being the kind, understanding man he is just brushes off the encounter and invites Vivian on a walk through the nearby park. Vivian is reluctant as she is trying to stay incognito while in London but he doesn’t seem to have a clue who she is.

Things escalate fairly quickly from there and suddenly they find themselves in a fake relationship to try and change the narrative in the tabloids from the fall out of her long-term relationship.

Their journey is full of real, vulnerable actions and difficult decisions. It’s a story of two people at different crossroads in their lives, simultaneously trying to decide which path they are meant to take.

Louise is a wonderful writer. The characters are so likeable, full of charm and humour. There hasn’t been a character I’ve read that I haven’t loved.

I’ve also read a lot of books this year, a few having the fake dating/fake engagement trope and I can honestly say this was one of the best this year. Beau and Vivs connection, just as with all of Louise’s characters, felt genuine and real world. But more importantly, how they navigate the fake engagement and their honest communication was refreshing.

One thing I hate is the miscommunication trope and you don’t get that with these characters. They’re mature, well-rounded and know how to communicate and go after what they want.

**An honest ARC review, all opinions are my own**

Arc copy for my honest review

After reading the other 3 books in this series I have been looking forward to ready Beau Cove story and it didn’t disappoint.

Beau is a GP who works as a locum as he like to go off and try new things he’s a bit of an Adrenaline Junkie

Vivian is a Music superstar who is in hiding, these meet at a coffee shop and the connection these two have is instant, we get to find out why Beau is a adrenaline Junkie and why Vivian in hiding as from the title these two decide to fake a relationship.

Louise has written yet another great book that touch me after reading Beau and Vivian back story.

I always love seeing other characters from a series and louise gives us just enough.

I have to say that Grumpy John Cove is a delight to read, he’s a grump but he loves his sons. For me it’s another 5 ⭐️ read for me :)

Beau and Vivian. Vivian is a pop star. Beau is a GP, but he is also an adventure seeker. He runs into Vivian at a coffee shop in London. Vivian is running from the public eye and getting over a long relationship with a guy who sold her into to paparazzi.

This was so cute. I laughed a lot and I teared up. It had it's sad moments. This was my first British Hero I think and I loved it.
