Playing for Keeps I’m giving this collection 4/5 stars because the first three stories were enjoyable and four-star books. I recommend them. I suggest giving Pucking My Nanny a pass because it doesn’t measure up to the quality of the other three stories. Here are my thoughts on each story:
Pucking my Ex MMC/FMC- Benton and Mary Mac POV- 1st person dual Genre- Contemporary Romance Sub Genre- Sports Romance (Hockey) Heat- 3 (half a point subtracted for use of the word “manhood” like this was a 1980s historical bodice ripper). Series? N Safety? Y Triggers- On-Ice Violence, Off-Ice Sex Tropes- Enemies to Lovers, First Love, Second Chance What I liked- her career remained a priority even after they got together. I also liked the nostalgia factor. But probably the best part was him dealing with his injury and his career. I got the feels. What I didn’t- to be honest, I was not expecting much from this book when I saw the word “hockey” misspelled on the title page. It got better. Other thoughts- at first, I had a lot of trouble connecting with the heroine. I couldn’t sympathize with her reasons for leaving him back in the day, or the way she did it. And then leaving again…. It took until after she was back home and I saw her in her work environment before I started to warm up to her. I’m glad that I stuck around.
Pucking Dad’s BFF MMC/FMC- Hawke and Anna POV- 1st person dual Genre- Contemporary Romance Sub Genre- Sports Romance (Hockey) Heat- 4/5. They do the thing and use the P word whilst naming the parts Series? Y Safety? Y Triggers- explicit erotic content Tropes- Age Gap, Dad’s Best Friend, One Night Stand, Surprise Pregnancy, Love After Loss, Adorable Moppet What I liked- I liked seeing Anna grow and come into her own and how supportive Hawke was of that. Hawke’s vulnerability in his Love After Loss was also refreshing, and seemed very realistic. I liked that they both acknowledged his feelings. What I didn’t- the story did drag a little, particularly in the area of his business investments. But overall, it was very satisfying.
Pucking My Neighbor MMC/FMC- Brock and Emery POV- 1st person dual Genre - Contemporary Romance Sub Genre- Sports Romance (hockey) Heat- 3/5, with occasional use of the P word Series? Y, although it can be read as a standalone Safety? No. She goes for drinks with another man. They weren’t together, but still…. Triggers- explicit erotic content Tropes- Neighbors to Lovers, One Night Stand, Friends With Benefits, That’s Not My Leg, Reformed Man Ho-Ho-Ho What I liked- LeBlatts beer hahahahaha! Loved it! I enjoyed the electricity between the main characters, and the natural build of their relationship. What I didn’t like- it dragged in spots.
Pucking My Nanny (3 stars; all the others get 4 stars) Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Dawson and Romi Genre- Sports Romance (hockey) Length- 20 chapters and an epilogue Heat- 3/5. They do the things with occasional use of the P word. Series? Y Safety? Y Triggers- explicit erotic content Tropes- The Bet, Adorable Moppet, Nanny/Caregiver, Poor Little Rich Girl, Secrets and Lies, Single Dad, Trust Fund Shenanigans Mewsings I had trouble getting into the story because I couldn’t connect with the main characters. Both of them were incredibly immature and self-centered and, frankly, not very likable. I continued reading because I had committed to reviewing the book, and they did improve somewhat, but I could see where some readers wouldn’t want to hang in and give it a chance. The story was a basic Fake Engagement, Single Dad Sports Romance, with the twists being their reasons for getting into the engagement. I thought that that was interesting; I’ve read more books where he needs the engagement more than she does. The bet, though it made him seem awful, was a clever hook. The story was basically okay, but I didn’t buy the love between the main characters. Lust, yes, love, no. This book was not offensive, but it just wasn’t one of my favorites.

Romi has left New York to avoid an arranged marriage and came to stay with her friend in Nashville. When she meets hockey player Brett Dawson, they are instantly attracted to each other, and he asks her to be his daughter's nanny. Throughout the story, some really bad decisions keep getting in the way of their budding relationship, so the emotional read kept me interested. This story was engaging and was great to read.
Pucking My Neighbor - 5 stars Neighbor With Benefits
One night stand to next door neighbor. Brock and Emery find themselves living in the same neighborhood and embark on a friend with benefits arrangement. As their emotions grow to something more real, being together more permanently will take some convincing. This story was intriguing and full of well written words and character development.
Pucking Dad's BFF - 5 stars Internship and Passion
Anna gets more than she bargains for when accepting an internship with her dad's best friend. The chemistry shared is hot and spicy, waiting to combust. Once it is released, this story is exciting and fun. The way Hawke finally decides she is worth the risk was beautifully written and wonderful.
Pucking My Ex - 5 stars Reunited in Italy
Mary Mac has come to Italy to celebrate her friend's wedding, but when she sees her ex-boyfriend Benton in attendance as well, her past anger and fear rise to the surface. The sparks between them are undeniable and still prevalent. As this story progresses, the mistakes both of them make in the past come to light and take several attempts before it is resolved. This was an emotional journey that showed growth in their character development, which wonderfully written.
