Only a fool would fall this hard for something so impossible…
Getting arrested wrecked my plans, my pride, and my father’s faith in me. Now I’m stuck doing community service under the watchful eye of the most infuriating man I’ve ever met.
Then she walks in—a woman from my past with a smile that ignites something new. For the first time since my life imploded, it feels like the universe is throwing me a lifeline.
But she’s dating him. My supervisor. The man who challenges me and stirs feelings I’m not ready to face. She wants us both. And I can’t deny the pull—to her, to him, to everything I’ve never let myself want.
Giving in feels like stepping off a cliff—but I've got nothing left to lose...
A Fool’s Game is a spicy, enemies-to-lovers, bi-awakening MMF romance about forbidden desire and daring to take the leap.
This book follows the story of Ainsley, Ben's son from Savage Lover. It is a stand-alone novel, you don't need to read any other books to enjoy the story.
I absolutely LOVED this book! I got an ARC of it and it did not disappoint. I loved how tarot played such a big role in the storyline and I especially loved the info about tarot in the beginning. The growth of the characters and the bi-awakening was so well done. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend!!
Going into this book, I wasn’t sure how I would like it with the whole tarot thing being such a big part of it, but I’m here to tell you right now - I LOVED IT!!
Gemma and Taylor always felt like a piece of their relationship was missing until Christmas night when Gemma ran into someone from her childhood, enter Ainsley.
Seeing the way that not only Gemma and Taylor and Gemma and Ainsley felt for each other, but how Ainsley and Taylor crashed together in the BEST way was magnificent. There wasn’t too much concentration on one set couple in their threesome relationship, it was the perfect balance.
I have to say this was one of the best ARC reads I’ve read and I cannot thank BookSirens enough for giving me the chance to read it!
It was good. I didn’t absolutely love it but I definitely didn’t hate it.
I feel like some of the relationship building was missing. There wasn’t really any dating or the cute, flirty get to know one another moments.
Also how old was everyone? Ainsley was in his final year of college but it’s mentioned he put it off for a bit. Gemma is in her final year of grad school. Taylor…no idea, no hint to his age. I know it’s not an important detail but the reflection and insight the characters had just made me curious.
4.75⭐️ ARC Review MMF, Contemporary Romance, big on witchyness and lots of tarot
Loved loved loved this book! I appreciated that the tarot was a big part of their relationship and their way not only to connect but to see how each other would fit within the throuple. I loved how their relationship throughout developed and overall was a huge blast. I giggled my way through the whole book.
A Fool's Game is a spicy, bi-awakening romance featuring Ainsley, Gemma (Gem) and Taylor. For those readers familiar with Townsend's Off-Limits Lovers series, Ainsley is Ben's son.
For most of his life, Ainsley has felt the need to be who his father wants him to be. In an attempt to step out from under the weight of his father's expectations, he has transferred to a school on the other side of the country. It isn't exactly what he thought it would be; something is missing. Yet he remains steadfast, even refusing to go home for Christmas. Instead he heads to a little pub where not long after taking a seat at the bar, is joined by a beautiful woman. This is where Ainsley meets Gem...for the second time. The two have an instant connection. They leave the pub and head to the patio roof of a metaphysical shop where Ainsley finds a lone tarot card: The Fool. (Yes, this book has a tarot component, which I found fascinating!) At the end of the evening, Gem writes her number on the tarot card and hopes to hear from him soon. As nothing is ever easy in love, the card is stolen from Ainsley so he has no way to call her. When they next meet, she introduces him to her boyfriend, Taylor, a man Ainsley already knows.
Before meeting Gemma, Ainsley had been arrested and was doing community service hours in order to expunge the event from his record. His hours were being performed at the university kitchen, and his boss was none other than Taylor. Taylor did not make Ainsley's life easy and ensured he had the worst jobs whenever he showed up, and persistently gave him a hard time. Needless to say, Ainsley was not a fan. When Gemma introduced the bane of his existence as her boyfriend, Ainsley was shocked and disappointed. Added to that was his confusion as to why she had given him her number, and why she was inviting him to join the two for dinner.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and devoured the book in about a day. A Fool's Game is definitely a spicy one, but it also has a lot of heart. We learn about each of the three main characters, and see their struggles as well as their growth. While some would likely consider this MMF unconventional, it is very much a love story. The book presents the characters with choices, a need to determine their priorities, and the wisdom to know when to let go.
Here are some of my favourite lines:
"I love you like the stars love the moon. Like the wind loves the leaves."
"The Fool only thinks he walks this path alone, though. If you look again, you'll see that was never the case."
"...whatever spell you've put my under, I'm not searching for the antidote."
What do you do when you see everything you want, but you already have everything you wanted, and the two don't seem to match up?
This is exactly what I've been dreaming of. The soft and the hard. The light and the dark. The sweet and the spicy.
"It's enough. You're enough just like this."
I'm a huge fan of Townsend's writing and I cannot wait to discover what she has in store for us next. While I await her next release, please let me know if you know of any other books with tarot themes I should check out. What a treat!

I'm a little conflicted about this book because there were things I really really loved and some parts i skipped. Let's start with the things I loved!
I love MMF and this one was done very well. I think it's one of the trickiest romances to write but the author did a really great job in balancing every character in the relationship. Each character has a POV, my favorite was Taylor's, i related to him the most and his POVs were very vivid and real to me, i was eating them up. I've got only good things to say about Taylor, he's the "must be protected at all cost" kind of characters to me.
Ainsley's POVs made me cry twice, so, there's that haha I really loved his character too. He's a thoughtful and sensitive man, which is something i love in romances. I whished we knew more about his struggles with coming to terms with some of his desires. Sometimes it felt like things he did came out of nowhere. Also he acted a little too much about your typical rich boy character with daddy issues, he needed maybe a little more fleshing out so he won't feel too stereotypical.
Gem's POVs were the one I struggled with mainly because i couldn't really relate to her and she annoyed me many times (which is often the case with female POVs so i don't think it's really about the book, it's more about my own personal taste). The tarots parts felt too long many times and I have to admit I skipped some parts about the readings, I'm sorry. I didn't realise tarot would have such a central place in the story, and while I have nothing against tarot, it's not something that I'm really into or interested in. It did bring some origniality to the story and I really like that each character represented a card and how it played out in the story and the relationship. I don't think I've ever read something like that before!
All in all, I think the building of the relationship, the communication, the tensions between the characters, their chemistry and the plot of the book were really really good and satisfying. It gave me everything I was craving. I truly had a good time reading this story and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good MMF.
However, I think the book would benefit from a last round of editing. There were several very long internal monologues or very long dialogues that didn't bring much to the story and felt cring/too Hallmark and too easy to me (especially towards the end). It made me disconnect from the story or annoyed me which is really too bad because overall thestory is great.
I'm very happy we had an epilogue, this is something I really enjoyed and it felt very satisfying to read about them after some time passed.
A huge thank you to the author for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. All thoughts are mine.
This book completely captivated me! From the moment I started, I couldn’t put it down. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC, and it exceeded all my expectations. What stood out the most was the beautifully woven tarot elements—each reading felt intentional, adding so much depth to the story. It’s clear Lore Townsend put a lot of research and care into incorporating tarot, making it feel authentic and immersive.
Now, if you’re looking for a traditional romance, this might not be for you. But if you love a story filled with self-discovery, character growth, and a stunning MMF dynamic, A Fool’s Game is a must-read. The connection between the three leads was electric, and their development felt so raw and real. Every character had layers, and even the ones I initially disliked won me over by the end.
The spice? Absolutely sizzling. 🔥 The push-and-pull between the two male leads, the struggle for control, and the undeniable chemistry made for some of the hottest scenes. And Gem? She knew exactly how to enjoy the view. The MMF moments were beautifully written, and the tension between the two male characters was on fire. Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️!
But this book isn’t just about heat—it’s an emotional journey. There are moments that hit hard, so be prepared for some heartbreak along the way. The rollercoaster of emotions made the story even more compelling, and I loved every second of it.
The tarot aspect was another highlight for me. The readings weren’t just thrown in for aesthetic—they played a crucial role in the story, guiding the characters and shaping their journey. It added an extra layer of depth that made this book truly stand out.
If you’re craving a romance that’s unconventional, steamy, and deeply emotional, A Fool’s Game is for you. Lore Townsend crafted a story that is equal parts intense, beautiful, and unforgettable. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I found this book started off strong. I loved the character building and their stories. I even enjoyed the references to Tarot cards within. I learnt a little about what different cards mean and how the cards speak to you... "There are no bad cards... there are no good cards". The MCs are all at a crossroad in their respective lives. They know decisions need to be made about the path they will choose... Will their paths lead them to each other???? You will have to read to find out.

The writing was solid and well done... I enjoyed the POVs for all MMCs... And I did enjoy the story... Now why would this get a 3.75 ⭐️ if I did enjoy aspects of the book? Well, although I thought the writing was well done, I struggled with evolution of their love story. Ainsley (MMC) comes from money, Taylor (MMC) and Gemma (FMC) have their own stories where they are doing their best to make decisions to reach for their goals. I just found that Ainsley (bi-awakening) didn't really get into how he fell for Taylor. It was just a statement. One chapter he is trying to figure out his draw to him and then all of sudden.. he's in love. Gemma and Ainsley, their love was more realistic in how it was described... its evolution. It seemed like the author didn't really explain this aspect well enough to support the "I love yous" in the second half of the book. Also... I was a tad disappointed in the MMCs spicy scenes... I felt like there could have been a little more "play" there. Although it was spicy... it missed the mark and was really mostly MF with the the exception of 2 scenes.
Although this didn't hit the mark for me... it was a good read and I did enjoy it. I just found certain areas were lacking IMO.
This book gave me all the feels. There were times I was so mad at the characters I wanted to scream but there were more times I laughed and cried right along with them. It was not only a beautiful love story (even if a bit unconventional) but it was so so spicy. I absolutely love a good MMF story and when one of the MMC’s finds themselves along the way, that’s even better.
The characters were wonderfully written. I loved that they each had their own lives apart from each other and were each growing in their own struggles. It really breathes truth to the story. I fell in love with them all, even Doc!
Potential spoilers ahead!!
Ainsley had the struggle of trying to prove to his dad he could make his own path while still trying to make him proud. Gemma was trying to fill her life up with the love she didn’t have growing up after the death of her mom, and Taylor had to learn to let go of the “failures” he couldn’t stop from happening, that weren’t his fault and learn that he was allowed to be happy and have it all. The banter between Ainsley and Taylor, especially in the beginning, was the best. I knew they would be explosive together and their animosity really added to the build up of the story.
If you’re looking for a story that will not only give you all the joy of a happily ever after but also the steamy warmth of some great spicy scenes, this is one book you need to give a try.
"The Fool is a journey of fresh possibilities, the ability to pursue one's dreams fearlessly, and being open to new experiences and possibilities. Lying alongside The Magician, which represents inner power, taking bold steps forward toward achieving one's dreams. Together, they signal movement, flow state, if you will. Something that was once just an idea being brought to life."
This quote really brings together the entire story though you don't realize just how much each weighs until you have finished reading it. I highlighted this knowing it was important but now it makes perfect sense. The entire book is a journey of three people coming to realize they have a unique chance at something more.
Each of the characters is fighting for their life. In their relationships with family, friends, and partners they will need to figure out how all of those things will have to fins synchronicity for their lives to find the perfect beat.
I really loved the way the Tarot was so ingrained into this story while making it very clear to someone who has not encountered it before. This is a story of love, respect, understanding and fighting for the right things in life.
This was more of a 3.5 for me but rounding up because I did enjoy reading it. And I looooove a good bi-awakening story.
Ainsley, Gemma, and Taylor are all so different, but really do just fit great together. The men especially had really great character growth that was emotional to read through. Taylor and Ainsley definitely don't start off on the best foot and honestly don't even seem to like each other for a while, but Gemma brings out the best in both of them and I loved their love story. This was by far my favorite way to do the miscommunication trope. They were all so young and in love and afraid of what would change that they just didn't communicate.
I honestly couldn't stop reading and was just dying to know what was going to happen next. My main issue with the book and why it wasn't a 5 star read for me is the time jumps. I wanted to see all those small little relationship building parts. I wanted the conversations and the shine that comes with new love. It was glossed over a little too much for me. But I think I will be in the minority here because I know so many people hate a long romance book.
Overall, this is my first book by this author and I definitely plan to read some more now!
This was my first book by this author and I didn't like it as much as I hoped to.
It wasn't bad but there were so many things lacking that I can't give this book more than 2.5 stars.
The overall idea was cute and I didn't hate the characters but you didn't get to know them very well. We didn't even get to know their age (I hate when authors do that).
Regarding their relationship it had no real depth. I mean Taylor and Ainsley struggled with some things but Gemma not so much. I wish they got to know each other more and not do the insta love and getting into a relationship thing. The sex scenes also weren't written well. Especially in a throuple I expect hotness overload but their scenes gave me nothing.
Then we have the whole tarot thing. I love tarot but it didn't work here, it was kinda random.
Sorry but this story was too fast paced and I also questioned the relationship between Ainsley and his father a bit. At the end it still wasn't the best in my opinion.
I hate giving bad reviews especially to indie authors but it sadly didn't satisfy me. Especially because I love throuples.

It's 20 past 4 in the morning... I have just finished A Fool's Game...
I was going to mention that this book is right along side another Reverse Harem that I have read... but then it get's more deeper and grittier with details and it surprisingly keeps me engaged... I wanted to finish it to see where it was going. The whole storyline of T with how they react towards A but are very protective over G is what had me intrigued. Surprisingly enough, T's POV was actually my favourite and I still don't know why. I genuinely enjoyed this book.
I will say this too... the ending... my JAW DROPPED. How could you end it like that Lore, that was mean... even then, how would that work?
Aside from all of that, I absolutely loved the full thing, it was by far one of my favourites of May. The cover was defo a 'don't judge a book by it's cover' because I went into this thinking it was something to do with cards... but learning it was Tarot instead... I almost didn't want to continue BUT the detail and the explanations behind everything had me piqued.
I knew I would love it by a certain point. It was defo one of those books I came to love and would defo add to my shelf as a 'read this book' trophy.
Side note... learning that this book only took me 5 days to read. I'm impressed.
A Fool’s Game by Lore Townsend tells the story of Ainsley, Gemma and Taylor and their often-complex relationship. Ainsley meets Gemma one night in a pub and there is an instant attraction, unbeknownst to him, she is already in a relationship with his boss who also happens to frustrate Ainsley at every turn, but he can’t deny that he has an attraction for both of them and there in lies the confliction. Taylor is Ainsley’s boss whilst he completes his community service, and Gemma is someone that he knows that he can’t have without Taylor. Throw in the use of the Tarot and we have a complex relationship about 3 people who love each other but who all have their own baggage.
This was a well written book with some great characters, told by each character POV which is great as we really get to see into their heads about what they are thinking and feeling. We also see growth of each character throughout the story and what they will do for family. Overall, an enjoyable read about love, chemistry and just being yourself.
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
This book was an enjoyable read, though it didn’t quite reach the level of a favorite for me. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Seattle, which was a fun touch since I live about an hour away, the story explores complex emotions and relationships as Ainsley navigates his unexpected feelings for both Gemma and Taylor. I loved how the book touched on real struggles—like Ainsley questioning his future after earning a degree, Taylor grappling with letting go of a long-held dream, and Gemma balancing contentment with her ambitions. These are relatable challenges that added depth to the story.
One unique aspect that intrigued me was the tarot element, which has me considering a visit to a local witchy shop to learn more about it! However, I did find myself wanting more character development and deeper moments of connection, especially between Taylor and Ainsley. At times, the narrative skipped ahead with brief explanations, leaving me wishing for more detailed, heartfelt interactions. Despite this, the book still delivered an emotional journey with a refreshing take on love, identity, and dreams. Overall, I'd give it 3.5 stars and a solid 4/5 on the spice scale!
While I enjoyed this book, it didn't hold the same magic for me that Scandalous Lover and Savage Lover did.
I am SO excited about an MMF, bi-awakening plot and the spice was spicing, however I almost felt like it was all a bit too much (I can't believe I'm even saying this) on the character arcs. Having 3 main characters, each with their own flavor of traumatic past to overcome in this novel is a lot for a reader to take on. Add in a strong tarot theme (which I'm not personally into but also not opposed to), weaving in other characters from the series and their histories... it was a lot. I never really got invested in any single character and found my attention spread a little thin.
There was also a serious lack of communication on the outset of the relationship building which is imperative for a poly relationship. And while these MC's were older college age (I'm assuming 22-25 years old?) there was still some immaturity there that had me rolling my eyes (but perhaps that's just me, sitting on the perch of 40 years old).
But I will say, I particularly enjoyed the relationship development between Taylor and Ainsley. More of that, please!
I received an ARC of this book and I was so thankful for the opportunity to read it! This book was very enjoyable to read and I found myself sucked in from the very beginning. It was an easy read, with characters I was rooting for the whole time and made me keep turning the page.
I LOVED the MMF, bi-awakening storyline. Each of these characters had such development throughout the story, and I loved their interactions together. I will say each of them having such deep trauma to overcome in such a short amount of time felt a bit overwhelming, and I felt myself feeling a little lost in the details too much. I appreciated the explanation of tarot, as that's not usually my forte, but even with some of the explanations I found myself wanting to know more.
I would have loved to see more time with the main characters spending time together, developing those feelings for each other. I felt like a lot happened off-screen that I missed and would have loved to see. The spice was hot, though. Chefs kiss.
All in all this was an enjoyable book with very real feelings and problems and very real ways people overcame them. Thank you for this book, it was a pleasure to read!
🔥 Contemporary romance 🔥 Enemies to Lovers 🔥 He Falls First 🔥 Forbidden 🔥 MMF Romance 🔥 I’ll Follow Her Anywhere 🔥 Found Family
A Fool's Game is a standalone romantic novel that combines elements of enemies-to-lovers, MMF and forbidden desires. A captivating novel filled with a complex storyline and intense romance, A Fool's Game explores a story of self-discovery, growth, the courage to take a leap, a found family and a deeply emotional journey. One notable aspect of this novel is its incorporation of tarot elements that not only add depth and uniqueness to the storyline but play a crucial role in the characters' journey. Unconventional romance, emotional resonance, and complex characters balance heat and heartbreak, making it an unforgettable read. The electric connections between characters, spicy scenes, emotional journey and relatable challenges are what make this book truly special. I appreciate how their personal growth was explored and the intensity of their relationship. This beautifully crafted tale takes the readers on an emotionally charged journey that is ultimately rewarding.
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the characters, especially Ainsley. The poor guy went through so much. Seeing the universe making things right and bringing him and Gemma together felt so good. The author did such an amazing job immersing you into his position. So much so that I started to tear up at one point in the beginning, where he is flying high and then is slapped down with new information. Thankfully, the relief was immediate when further information is disclosed. Taylor had such a strong presence and was a great character to learn from.
I really loved Gemma's free spirit. I loved Taylor's dominance and how comfortablehe was in his own skin *fans self*.
It's a wonderful, beautiful story. It makes you question dreams/goals you've held onto past the point of being something that would enrich your life. Sometimes they become anchors and obligations holding you back from what would truly make you happy.
The only thing that really left me wanting more was the physical relationship between Taylor and Ainsley.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I can’t even with how much I loved this book! MMF is one of my favorite tropes, especially if there’s a bi-awakening. It’s the first story I’ve read that centered around tarot cards and I enjoyed it. The spice was so good. I loved the destiny aspect of the story and how it was almost magical when they came together.
Poor sweet and innocent Ainsley. He brings a light to any situation he’s in and always seems to know just what to say to make people feel better. He’s like a puppy.
Then we have the serious and grumpy Taylor. As much as I loved Ainsley’s sweetness, I think Taylor’s dark and commanding presence was my favorite. He can come across as harsh but he is completely devoted and soft with those he loves.
Gemma was the perfect mix of strong and vulnerable. She knew exactly what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to ask for it. I loved the way she encouraged the guy’s relationship without pressuring them. In turn, they worshipped her.
“Sorry I kept you waiting, love. I got here as soon as I could.”
Wow! What an unforgettable journey. A Fool’s Game completely swept me away with the lives of Ainsley, Gemma, and Taylor — and I’m still not over it.
Ainsley’s heart is pure gold, always ready to help the people he loves, even as he learns that it’s okay to not have every step of life mapped out. Gemma’s connection to her tarot cards was such a beautiful way to show her search for clarity and comfort in the chaos. And Taylor? Taylor thought he had it all figured out until life knocked him sideways and made him realize what — and who — truly feels like home.
Together, these three took me on an emotional rollercoaster that left me crying through both the heartbreak and the joy. Lore Townsand has a gift for making you feel every single moment, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough (even if I had to wipe away tears to do it).
If you love stories full of heart, healing, and characters who feel like real people you’d want to know, A Fool’s Game is an absolute must-read.
This is a MMF why choose romance. It does have MM and MF parts in this book. Ainsley is very unsure of being with another male in the beginning. Taylor and him butt heads a lot throughout the story making it a semi enemies to lovers.
Gemma is a sweetheart. Knowing she wants more in life and to go against normal standards so she can have two fine men of her own. The character growth throughout the book was good. I wish some part would have gone more in depth but overall this was a great read.
The one aspect that set it apart from other books to me is the tarot cards. I don’t know anything about them but this book made me want to learn. I found it very fascinating to know different meanings behind the cards.
If you’ve read the off limits lovers series then you definitely need to read this. I was glad to learn more about Ainsley, especially since I didn’t think I was a fan of him at all. This book helped me change my mind about him.
I have loved each book in this series and was interesting to see the different direction of Ainsley's story. I was hit with a ton of bricks alongside Ainsley when he sees Gem again after loosing his tarot card. Didn't see that reveal coming.
Story was an interesting ride. I loved the connection the characters build. Could have smacked Gem and Taylor at how bad they were at communicating with Ainsley when all together the first time. So lucky he is so laid back and willing to figure things out.
Characters dealing with very real world problems. Seeing them struggle with them made the characters more real and relatable.
The use of tarot throughout the story was interesting, not something I am familiar with.
Got some time at resort with old characters, so that was interesting to see the different dynamics from another perspective.
Another great addition to the series.

Did I know I needed a MMF bi-awakening story with all the mystical and tarot lore? Absolutely not. Did I need a MMF bi-awakening story with all the mystical and tarot lore? 100 PERCENT ABSOLUTE YES!!
Ainsley, Taylor, and Gem’s story was the most heartfelt, real, magical thing I’ve read in a long time. Watching Ainsley blossom into his full potential and truly authentic self was so beautiful. His acceptance development truly was incredibly well written.
Taylor made me feel all the feels. From starting with a loathing for him to ending with wanting to hold him and tell him he is loved, Taylor was such an incredible character. His willingness to set aside his own feelings in order to prioritize Gem’s made my heart weep.
I cannot recommend this book enough!

This book! From serendipity to tarot to bi awakening. It’s amazing and I needed to read this.
Ainsley is coasting along to graduation u til a stupid decision lands him community service. His new boss Taylor is the worst and why does he have Gemma as his girl. Ainsley knows he is supposed to to have meant her again but why is she involved.
Then Gemma blindsided him with the fact that they have been waiting for more love in their relationship the final piece to sync them. Could Ainsley be that piece? Does he want to be?

Ainsley, Gemma, and Taylor have sizzling hot chemistry! Their relationship is not easy, but when they all come together, it's magical!
Ainsley and Taylor do not get along at first. It definitely took some time, learning to trust and communicate. They grow together, but in the end, their story is beautiful!!
We got to see some of our favorite characters from Faraday Island, which I loved!!
Lore always does a great job at sucking you into her stories and making you love her characters!!
Spicy MMF! With natural progression of intimacy (and funny!) With ETL for the MM
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶
There's more than ⚔️ between the MMC's...
Plot... Starts as a couple knowing they're destined to meet their third, and when they do - he is new to it all! New to sharing a lover, new to having a man in his life, new to the carer choice, new to every avenue life is taking him down. He is having his bi-awekning and not sure if he should run or embrace it. Maybe even both...
We have the pleasure of following their journey into learning to live as a throuple as well as dealing with their own lives of work, uni and clashing of different financial statuses. There's so much emotion poured into this book! It's more than a smut book; it's full of "unconventional" romance.
Then there's the tarot cards... which I never really knew much about beforehand. Maybe more than the average person but not to understand the meaning behind each card (or possible meaning.) However, it flows so well through this book!
It's a slow build romance centred around self-healing and embracing love. With a few really good 🌶 scenes.
A Fool's Game is interconnected, but can be read as a standalone. I loved this MMF, Bi Awakening, tarot reading romance book!!Lore Townsend was a new to me author and she did not disappoint! I was so excited to finally has Ainsley's too.
Ainsley has struggled to prove to his dad that he could carve his own path and still make him proud. He ends up in a little trouble and has to do some community service for it. His supervisor, Taylor, is one of the most infuriating men he has ever met. Then Ainsley realize Taylor is dating Gemma, a girl from his past that he didn't think could be in his future. When Gemma wants Taylor and Ainsley tensions rise even more and the men now have to learn to work together.
Plenty of feels as this trio hesitantly forge a thruple. This was a story that didn't quite grab at the beginning but made up for its earlier lack with gusto by half way.
Bi virgin Ainsley falls for already in a relationship Gemma. Gemma and her partner are seeking a third and when the tarot cards prophise their union Ainsley is drawn in. First it's his attraction to Gemma that persuades him to continue, but when he develops feelings for bi Taylor Ainsley has to confront himself, his life and his future.
Townsend fills this story with plenty of emotional wrangling and honest soul searching as the three bring their own baggage to the relationship. The baggage is messy but once sorted the HAE is pure joy.
A Fool’s Game is a spin-off of the Off-Limits Lovers series. You do not need to have read the Off-Limits Lovers series to enjoy A Fools Game however there is something special about the characters, the setting and the story lines from the series and they do make an appearance here. I am so glad I have read them all and I enjoyed getting to know Ainsley, Ben’s son, and Ainsley’s two bewitching lovers, Tayler and Gemma!
A Fool’s Game is full of self discovery, growth and exploring an unconventional relationship. The characters are intriguing and pulled me onto their orbit so quickly I could not put this book down until I was finished. This is well written with a fantastic story line that made me feel all the emotions. It had wonderfully magical angst; many laugh out loud moments and an HEA that felt perfect for the characters.
I recommend and again suggest the entire Off-Limits Lovers series!
