Things happen randomly, the Main Love Interest FINALLY realizes it’s a Victor/Victoria sitch and there is a proposal that COULD prevent war, yet no one is talking about it somehow?
Also, searching for her mother shouldn’t be this darn hard. Seriously, why does she have to do it on her own? Her half brother owes her BIG time and before the war was going to start, the Secondary Love Interest could have seriously helped her AND HE OFFERED HER ANYTHING SHE WANTED.
This series is all drama, no brains and it’s annoying me.
2, dropping it here and bitter at the money I spent on it, stars.

A lot happens in this volume to move the plot along. I admit, while I get why some people hate triangles, I find genuine love triangles more interesting than when it's clear the lead prefers one of 2 vying for their attention. Here, Ian was never in the running. It was never going to be him. So, I'm left to wonder if this will be a case where he eventually tries to get revenge for being rejected or if there's going to be some shift where Camellia's obvious preference changes.
Despite the role he played in Camellia's plight, the best relationship in the series is Kieran's with Camellia IMO. He actually cares about her, for the little time on page they get to spend together. He clearly feels guilty that she didn't get to live a life of her choosing. There was almost an interesting discussion here about how much more power and autonomy Camellia has as a man compared to her life as a woman. I would've liked if we could've better explored that but I fear that would probably only hit home if Camellia knew or really spent time with any women that were waiting on her. The only non-evil women in this book (aside from Camellia) are wait staff. She has no friends and I get that that's meant to be because her stepmother is evil, but it's part of what makes her such an isolated character.
She has no friends and it seems like she just lives in a tower until the men in her life come fetch her to do their bidding. Maybe that works for other readers? I prefer books like Beware the Villainess - where the FMC has female friends and they accomplish their goals together. While I DNF'ed it when I hated the route it was taking, Villains Are Destined to Die has such a strong FMC that she was a bigger part of the world - as male centric as that book also was.
Anyway, the plot is thickening with the reveal at the end. More significant events happen in this one volume than in the last 3 combined.

camellia was taken away from her mother to live as a son of an aristocratic family. because of her sickly half-brother, camellia lost her own identity since the tender age of 12. due to her birth as the illegitimate daughter of the bale family, she strived hard to make up the situation even though it’s none of her responsibility. she survived through verbal abuse and neglect from her father and stepmother. in the meantime, she met claude through her brother. the marquis was aloof since they were young children, but claude grew feelings for camellius (camellia’s boy name) and never turned around after that. he’s always showing affection afterwards. it was really cute. i’m so glad that once the people who loves her found out about her disguise, they 100% worked to make sure she can reclaim her name and freedom.

Finding Camellia Volume 4 picks up after Camellia has been rescued from a failed operation to find out why noblewomen are being targeted in the kingdom.
As of right now, that plot line is dead (though I don’t doubt it’ll come back). Overall, I’m definitely losing interest in this series. It’s just getting too complicated for no reason. I hate Ian, the cockiness isn’t attractive so the love triangle angle doesn’t work me. I’m sick of Kieran and his father being wubbies and the mother being ridiculous. The side stories with Camellia trying to find her mom and this underground kidnapping ring and now a war with Gaior are just taking too long to materialize and they just don’t feel important. We don’t get enough information about these side plots in any volume to keep you invested.
The only highlight of this one is that we FINALLY get some clarity with Claude. And he wasn’t quite as terrible as he’s been in the past.

SO GOOD!
However, how dare they end the volume like this!! Just a few more pages and then we could see the departure of Claude! Instead they make us wait a volume?!
Still 10/10 would recommend this story!!

OK so I gave this a 3 star because honestly, I remember what the story is about but I don't remember loving it but I also don't remember hating it either. I remember there being some funny parts in it so I guess until I reread this, I'll keep it at a 3 star.

I really enjoyed this part of the story and the quick changes in the plot. It was more interesting than the previous ones and its end kept me wanting to read more, even though somewhere in the middle I did had a gap.
