BEFORE THE EVENTS OF DAUGHTER OF THE MOST HIGH...

Amidst the funerary steles and burial mounds outside the city of Philippi, Hektor vows to take care of his younger sister Karis and provide for her in the way that their parents never did. Yet all is not so simple due to the looming debts and dangerous enemies that their father left behind.

When collectors come asking for what is owed to them, Hektor starts to wrestle with fears that keep him up late into the night with worry. In an attempt to claw his way out, Hektor becomes the Lion of Philippi—a champion fighter in the city’s Forum—but friends are revealed to be foes and the so-called Lion unexpectedly finds himself to be prey.

What will it take for Hektor to let go of fear and take his first steps toward faith in a God who is unlike anything Hektor has ever known?

The Lion of Philippi is a prequel novella to Daughter of the Most High, book three in the Generations of Faith series by Jenna Van Mourik. Readers will enjoy gaining a glimpse into Hektor’s past and how it leads him on the path to who he becomes.

Exceptional story

I chose this rating because this author pours her all into her writing. The main character had such struggles. He had many obstacles in life. He hit rock bottom. Then Lydia came along. Then the miraculous happened. What a triumphant ending! Thank you for writing this novella, Jenna Van Mourik. I have one more of this author's books to read and I will have read them all.

Couldn’t put this one down…. I love the connection to Lydia the maker of purple. I love reading about his deep responsibility to his sister although I also think Hektor was too hard on himself.
