There were things about this book that I really enjoyed. I was happily surprised by all the sweet messages about how to treat people you disagree with, or who may be challenging you. In a strange time in the world, the uplifting thoughts were a breath of fresh air, and it was completely coincidental.
Obviously the main line was soccer, and the boys were immediately sucked in. They loved every bit of it, and the bullying and rough behavior the MCs experienced was a good life lesson.
That being said….while the idea of an elite secret soccer league is intriguing and fun to envision, the lies and deceit the players harbored from their parents was unacceptable. This was with an older male coach leading the charge, at that. I had to have a pretty serious chat with my boys about how incredibly out of line that kind of behavior is, and we tossed around the idea of quitting on principle.
Due to the deceit, I had to knock my rating back. Overall 3.5 ⭐️ rounded up

My 10 year old Nephew loved this book. I also read the book myself as I like to be able to discuss the content of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, it has great, likeable characters and a strong moral focus. I recommend this book and will be looking out for a sequel.
