Doable Decluttering Workbook is a short guide by an Australian author on how to go about ridding your home of all the extraneous stuff that clogs up our lives. I found it on my new Kindle Unlimited account, and having recently read the Swedish Death Cleaning book - because I’m determined this is the year I tackle my mild (ok, moderate) hoarding tendencies, was looking for more practical advice on how to go about it. I’d say the two contrasting books complement each other quite well, as the one focuses mostly on the emotional and sentimental aspects, whereas this takes a very structured list-based approach, inviting the reader to download resources and answer questions in a workbook style. There’s nothing revolutionary here, it’s all common sense, but I hope to start putting some of the tips in place soon.
I liked that this had no personal anecdotes about the author’s journey to minimalism, as so many self help guides do. My only criticism is I found it very short and could’ve used more concrete examples of common pitfalls. But at least she doesn’t suggest you can only keep thirty books!
