4 stars—it's sweet, swoony, and short, but could've simmered more
Book two of the Raven Songs MC Club saga dives into the love story of the Prez, a character we only glimpsed in book one—and I was ready for it. It promised me enemies to lovers, and while it technically delivered, I wish it had lingered more in the tension, the longing, the delicious slow-burn. Yes, I'm a masochist, so sue me. There was so much room for it to ache, and it kind of zipped past instead.
It's also a shorter book than the first one (I finished it in a day), which probably didn't help deepen that slow-build angst I was craving.
That said: still had me kicking my feet, swooning, biting back giggles like a lovesick teenager. The emotional pull is there, and Cassie Kellergan knows how to write tender, imperfect people you root for.
True to her style, she doesn't shy away from tough topics. This time it's eating disorders, and I genuinly appreciate that. Both books in this series have tackled disabilities and mental health with enough realism to make you understand—even if they don't go super deep. It's not trauma porn, it's more like: hey, these issues exist, and people deserve love through them.
It's still not a reread for me, but you bet I'm counting the days for book three. Because apparently biker bous and found family MC drama is my new brand.
