Possible Trigger Warnings for Kidnapping, Disobedience Punishment, Violence, and Death

As the first book in a series, The Bird Cage Society : Falling, is C.M. Vazquez's debut novel; and a debut it was. It is described as being a YA / Psychological Mystery; and has a gripping storyline. One filled with overcoming self doubt, finding inner strength, and the constant battle in one's mind.

"To be an individual is to be revered, but to be different is to be flawed. This is the human condition."

"The cage you built to keep people out also keeps you in."

Charly Brewer was a typical introverted teenager, who was constantly at war with her mind during social interactions. Until one very strange day, she was kidnapped right out of the bathroom of a car repair center. Unbeknownst to her, she was about to spend the next year, with her 5 male kidnappers. But not in the way she originally thought; she was kidnapped by members of a secret society who refused to tell her anything of importance, but instead chose to continue her education yet also strengthen her useful "talent." As the year came to an end, she thought she was finally coming to an understanding about everything, that is until her world came to a screeching halt. Filled with fear, confusion, and being faced with a life or death situation, Charly had to think quickly and use all she had learned to try and stay alive.

I absolutely loved every second of this book. I found myself going through a wide range of emotions. From laughing over the choice of words in place of curse words, to finding myself completely captivated trying to come up with my own theories. This is a book I will recommend to everyone, and I will be counting down the days until the next one is released.

Thank you so so much, C.M. Vazquez for allowing me to read this book as an ARC. As always my reviews are my own, honest opinion.

I rarely write reviews but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to read this book by a local Colorado Springs author. The Bird Cafe Society was an exciting read that left me yelling at the pages as Charly tries to figure out what in the world is going on and why she was kidnapped. Vazquez painted a clear picture of Charly's experience and surrounds and the characters are described with such detail that you get a clear visual.

The only criticism I have is the damn rules Charly must follow!

This is a must read!! This thriller had me on the edge of my seat the entire time and I had so many theories floating around my head. The world building is really unique, and the characters are multifaceted. I had a hard time choosing a favorite. I can't wait for the next book to come out to dive deeper into this world!

Engaging from start to finish. Few books can hold my attention as well as this one. I’m truly excited for the next book in the series.
Well done!
