Xiaxan Fox is the second book written by the author Sevannah Storm. The book follows the story of the orphaned princess Jenasso.
The blurb and the book cover are the first things that catch the reader’s attention. The title of the book reminds me of a story about the eastern cultures and before I even began reading it I thought it would be a story set about some Chinese legends. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Princess Jenasso is the heir to the kingdom of Letoura and having survived the massacre of her family she is taken in by the neighbouring king of Meidon who raises her as his daughter alongside his two sons.
This information is given to the reader in the blurb itself but having read the book I really liked the king for the kindness he showed toward her. There aren’t many people who would do that. What I liked best about the book was the opening chapter. Without giving away any spoilers I would say that the author manages to grab the reader’s attention with the first chapter flawlessly. The descriptions were so well written that I had the feeling that I’m there, witnessing everything that the young princess was going through.
I can say that this is another fascinating tale with dynamic well-developed characters and plenty of action. This book will leave you wanting more. I was invested in the story from page one and the story itself kept me at the edge of my seat until the very end.
It is my belief that Sevannah Storm is a master storyteller and I would wholeheartedly recommend the book and the author.

I rate this book 5/5.

Sevannah Storm is a very talented, imaginative writer. I have followed her writing since the beginning . . . she is brilliant here.

The opening pages of XIAXAN FOX gripped my heart. I had to grab my tissue box, as I turned that horrendous shade of tomato, and quietly did the ugly sort of crying that made my visiting daughter pull up her calendar, then ask for the title of the book—because she knew it wasn’t hormones, so it had to be good. I must emphasize, I have never felt so connected to someone’s circumstances so quickly. I connected to Jenaso’s.

This emotionally charged story about the deepest of love, kept me guessing what was coming next, cringing at every ‘bad’ decision, believing it’s never too late to be ‘better’, and rooting for Sohar and Joi to PLEASE admit how they feel.

Sevannah Storm is a master storyteller. Her world building is exquisite, and I adore the slow-burn romance. Storm perfectly captures the complexity of the relationship and situation. I could not put the book down. Thoroughly enthralling and a delightful read.

This is a fascinating tale, with dynamic characters, plenty of action, tons of intrigue, and a romance that is delightfully-infuriating and downright irresistible. The story swept me up and didn't let go of my heart until the final page.

I highly recommend this book to lovers of fantasy romance.

3.5⭐

Prolouge was very intriguing. Romance started as cringe, hope it's a subplot.

Why are we washing rannic suddenly? He was vile just 2chapters ago.

I don't like this peace forgiveness propaganda. It should have come after naturally not from the start "I want peace and will forgive everyone of the slaughter of my family and city" If we were going that path why portray the antagonists this low and atrocious? Also no one's seeing trouble if sohar and joi get together except themselves😒

Ok sohar solved the problem but won't share with joi so how would she make her mind abt him? To her there's still a problem if she chooses him arghhh. Also we were reading it as her journey but suddenly she was not so important. There's no greater event upcoming, she's not the heir anymore, she kinda became purposeless protagonist like a side character.

I would have given it a 5star if we had a better epilogue with all the characters and sohar didn't leave. That was unnecessary just like the whole romance dilemma. I still don't get the problem why he refused to be with her when every realm accepted them. So him leaving and her forgiving him just like that in the epilogue? Yeah sucks! It was good book and deserved better ending.

ARC Review of Xiaxan Fox by Sevannah Storm

4/5 Stars
0/5 Spice

Xiaxan Fox follows Joi as she goes from the lost princess in hiding to future queen of Letoura while trying to stay alive and heal the rifts between the realms and rebuild her kingdom.

Overall this was a well paced story with just enough angst for it YA target audience, and I would have zero issues handing this book over to my preteen to read. It had a fair amount of worldbuilding without being overwhelming. I loved the feel of Asian lore/culture that came through in various elements of the story from its magic system to the different realms we see as Joi travels on her journey. Honestly, this story overall would be so good as a series where the author could really add depth to everything.

I would note for my fellow American readers that the author is not from America, so it does have some moments where the wording can seem a little off because it’s not how we speak…but it’s nothing that detracts from the meaning or overall effect of the story.

A fantastic story of love and danger!

I could go through and give a description of the story, but the author has already done that and much better than I could ever hope to. So, instead, I’ll just write about the way the book affected me. I find this book to be very appropriate given the situation in the current day and age. Between the wars going on, the division not only in my own country, but in other countries as well, the animosity between the different realms is very fitting. I also find the young princess doing everything she can in order to create healing and peace between the realms to be something we could use more of now. However, the romance is what really makes this story so good. Thank you, Sevannah Storm, for writing such a wonderful story, full of courage, hope, regret and love!

This was a way cool adventure. This is the second book I have read by this author and Wow! She has mad writing skills! The other book by her that I read was "The Lady and the Assassin" and I would consider that one a must read. This book flew right into that category also. I was so engaged and thrilled by this book that I ended up reading it straight through. I could not put it down. I understand that sleep is important but when it came to this book I just didn't care, I had to finish this story. I couldn't go to sleep without knowing how it ended. Wow, totally worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Absolutely fantastic book!

The story is well written, I loved the characters, the world building and the underlying love story. The world building is on spot, and at the same time doesn’t slow down the story. There was plenty of action and intrigue. I was gripped by the story from page one. Sevannah Storm is truly a master storyteller. Her other books are now on my TBR list. You hear the story from different pov’s, so you not only know why the main character does certain things and feels about them, but also from others. It’s a standalone book, but could have easily been a series, due to the excellent world building. The book follows a portion of the life of the orphaned Princess Jenasso. The romance is slow-burn, however with all the action taking place, it’s not just a book for lovers of fantasy romance, but also suited for fantasy readers. All the characters were dynamic and well written. I just didn’t want to put the book down.

From the beginning, I rooted for Joi nee Princess Janarra, a tough little girl who lost her family and her homeland to assassins. Adopted by neighboring King Meideon, her father's friend, she grew up with love and the determination to avenge her family. Xiaxan Fox is a humorous and exciting paranormal romance as Joi, now a beautiful young woman blessed with family magic, travels with her handsome protector to defeat her enemies. Great writing and enjoyable characters make this a must read.
