A Perfect Devon Pub is a heartfelt, cozy-chic, forced proximity romance set in an idyllic Devon seaside village. Expect slow-burn chemistry, workplace romance, foodie fiction with a chef and sommelier and a comforting happily-ever-after.
Each Brambleton book is a complete standalone story – set in the same Devon village. These books can be read in any order. Start wherever you like.
Once upon a time, I was a perfectly respectable London professional — a chartered accountant with a law degree, a Blackberry (remember those?), and too many sensible shoes. Then common sense prevailed, romance called, and I swapped London’s Zone One for Devon’s zero signal. I still wonder if leaving the City was brave or simply plot research taken to a reckless extreme.
Now my “head office” is a polytunnel: no Wi-Fi, but plenty of fresh air and flourishing tomatoes. The plants photosynthesise while I draft havoc; technically off-grid, creatively on fire.
Meanwhile, the dogs run the editorial obstruction department. They possess zero publishing experience yet veto scenes with a single raised paw — their union insists on edible compensation only.
These days, I know the real price of life’s essentials: a good haircut, a great friend, and the joy of a proper night’s sleep.
I write love stories for grown-ups — warm, witty, stuffed with second chances and that peculiar dynamic where affection and exasperation create irresistible chemistry – for better for worse...
Think of my indie “publishing house” as one woman, no award-strewn empire, no two-legged staff — just me, two obstinate dogs, and a biscuit budget.
I’ve tried not writing. It didn’t go well so I need readers. Not many, just the excellent sort who laugh in the right places.
Readers who love Cathy Bramley and Trisha Ashley’s books will fall in love with Debbie Morrison’s charming new novel, A Perfect Devon Pub.
Everything was going swimmingly for sommelier Fiona. She was working at a trendy London restaurant, dating a hot celebrity chef and living a life most people would give their right arm for – until everything went wrong. Convinced that her relationship was doomed to fail, Fiona ended things and headed off to Devon to lick her wounds and heal from her broken heart.
Finding a job as a wine waiter at a bustling pub by the sea, Fiona quickly began to settle into her brand new life. As she makes new friends and begins to pour all of her passion into every glass, Fiona wonders whether a romantic interlude might also be on the cards for her with the arrival of a handsome new chef.
Will Fiona find her second chance at happiness in this perfect Devon pub? Or will unexpected twists put paid to any hope she might have had of starting afresh in this beautiful part of the world?

My Opinion
A Perfect Devon Pub is the second book in the Brambleton Series but it could be read as a standalone. A light-hearted read, ideal for a summer evening. This was a book that had me hooked from the beginning as it was such an enjoyable read.
I would firstly just like to say a very big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review.
This book is actually book number two from the lovely Brambleton series but can very easily be read as a stand alone without any problems.
A Perfect Devon Pub is a wonderful Summer romance and is such a light hearted, cosy read, heartwarming and full of emotions too.
It was definitely a page turner and it very easily pulled me into its pages right from the very beginning and it did not let me go again until i had turned every last page!
Fiona escapes for a fresh start to Brambleton and finds work as a wine-waiter at a little village but very busy seaside pub!
I loved this book and found it to be really fast paced, it was full of community spirit and after i had read it i was left with a very happy heart and a warm and cosy feeling too…….
A page turner escapist book which had me hooked from start to finish. It is a lesson in food/ restaurant culture and wine pairing. It is a blend of food network and a romantic comedy.
Fiona, a sommelier, is in a relationship with celebrity chef, Ru. A combination of personal and professional issues caused their breakup. They both wound up working together again in a dreamy Devon pub.
This is my first book from the author and she has just gained a new reader. There was no dull moment. All of the characters were amazing and Fiona’s vulnerability was dealt with humanely.
I love the wine lessons and the insights into how restaurants and pubs are run. The description of the Devon coast was so good that I want to visit.
I love the flashbacks of Ru and Fiona’s relationships. This book will make you feel all the feels.
If you are looking for an escapist summer read then you should read this.

This is the second book by Debbie Morrison set in the village of Brambleton, but could easily be read as a standalone.
Fiona and her boyfriend are visiting her aunt in Brambleton when he proposes, Fiona is full of sudden doubt about their relationship and herself. Needing a fresh start and stays in the village and finds a job in the local pub where they appreciate her vast wine experience and studies for her sommelier exam. When the pub hires a new chef, her fresh start is put under doubt.
I think reading this book we can all see a bit of ourselves in Fiona, a knockback denting her confidence and that making her doubt all aspects of her life, including her relationship with her boyfriend Reuben. The fresh start she thinks she needs isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when her past catches up with her, and once again makes her question her decisions. Through the book you can see that Fiona’s believes her worth is only based on her success, that you are cheering for her to realise this is not true and that she has the love and support despite that.
The setting of the pub and the group of characters we meet give a real sense of seaside village community. Each character bringing a different dynamic and a reminder that sometimes there is more to life than success, we have to live too.
This is a cosy, light-hearted heart-warming read, great for summer.
The second in the Brambleton series, A Perfect Devon Pub is my favourite to date.
Brambleton is a charming little village on the Devon coastline and I'm gutted that it's not real...I'd love to visit The Smugglers Inn though, wouldn't you?
The community spirit of Brambleton and the charming characters won me over AGAIN! (I've read the first book A Perfect Devon Farmhouse).
Heartwarming, engaging and thoroughly enjoyable it's delightful story of starting over and new beginnings...or is it?
3 ⭐️ Found the book incredibly dull, a lot of similarities to the last book. The side plots were all off putting and distracting, would have liked to see more of the characters mentioned in the first book and village life.
