In the summer of 2026, Victor and Quinn Atherton discover an old Nintendo 64 game console long forgotten in the dark recesses of their grandparents’ basement. Unable to get it working, they call the 1-800 number printed on the side of the game box and much to their surprise, the call is answered not by a recorded message or chatbot, but by a real live person - Travis McBryan. When he tells them to bring the unit to the video game store in the mall where he works, their adventure into the past begins.
This first novel is an engaging story that takes millennial and Gen Xer’s back to a time when meeting new people was easier. Connections could be made at the bus stop or at the arcade and life long friendships forged over a slice of pizza and a game of Mario Cart. This was a bit of nostalgia for any Person who grew up in 90’s Milwaukee. The book was straight forward and to the point. I wanted to hang out in the past a bit more to relive my youth.
