Not a biography fan, never feel inclined to read popular biographies ( You know who I am talking about) but whenever I see army personnel my enthusiasm rises. Whenever I see a new biography is releasing I feel an urge to grab it. Their life, the passion, the adaptive power, the discipline, the courage, the dignity, the determination, the fire inside their heart, and of course the goosebumps moments, everything fuels my spirit. No matter how many I read it's not enough.
Every book open up a new window, a new thinking process, ignite a new fire in me ....


Read and enjoyed, and I learned another lesson to turn the stone, another device to cement my determination.

I saw him first in the form of a character played by Sunjay Dutt in the bollywood movie LOC. He was known to be Vikram Batra's boss and CO of 13JAK RIF. After the movie I started to follow him and used to take special notice whenever he was on tv. When I came to know about the book penned by him I instantly went for it.
This is one hell of a read tracing the life of a soldier a CO and administrator. The anecdotes are seeped in with all trials and tribulations that go into the life of an army officer from green horn lieutenant to a star rank. This must be marked as a compulsory read.

Great narrative by Lt. Gen. Joshi. I wanted to learn more about the Kargil War and he being the Commanding Officer of the 13 JAK Rif (Double PVC) battalion, what better insights one could get on this war. Moreover, I also learned about various courses and developmental training a soldier needs to undergo through during his/her stint in the Armed Forces. The former Northern Army commander displayed exemplary leadership skills in various postings that he had been in charge of.

An interesting read. Author Lieutenant General Y. K Joshi provides many anecdotes from his career in the Indian armed forces spinning around 40 years. Most notable part in this book is authors experience in the Kargil war and the period when he served as Defence attachee in China and later dealt with them in Ladakh.
