I am grateful to have read a digital review copy on Edelweiss Plus. This picture book is a must have for nature and science lovers.

Andie Powers and Lucy Rose found the perfect way to showcase the power of moonlight. The first words "I am the moon." set up young readers to settle in to admire the moon's monthly journey. Kids will stay awake to hear, read, and reread the lyrical text and search for details in the beautiful 4-color artwork. Each spread's fun facts provide an awareness about animals that benefit from the light of the moon. One sidebar in particular (but there are many) drew my attention, and I'm certain the sidebars will intrigue young readers, too. "Oysters open and close their shells according to the moon phases." Wow! Who knew? Powers' main text is lyrical and thought-provoking alongside the fun facts. Her use of repetition ties WILD MOON: How Lunar Phases Light Up Our World together into a stunning package. The first page in each spread shares Powers' thoughts about the moon via sentence stems such as "While you are ____, I am ____." or "When you are ___, I am ____." The second page in each spread introduces the reader to an animal that uses the light of the moon for life, which leads to a fun fact about the animal. Kids will be drawn in by the nighttime circular structure. The moon speaks while children are sleeping, dreaming, growing. Spectacular! Speaking of amazing, the artwork by Lucy Rose moved me with the soft, yet bright, hues. This book will enrich science lessons about the phases of the moon. Parents will also want to share this story at bedtime and for discussions about the night sky. I highly recommend WILD MOON.

Both a bedtime book to lull your little one and a science book for the curious mind, this beautiful book is a must-read. You'll want to pour over this one and discuss it. Make it a slow read while tucking your kids into bed.

Great for a classroom to teach the science of moon phases, also! How does the moon affect animals? They hunt, hide, nest and howl. Kids can act things out, pour over the pictures and absorb all there is to know about the moon.

A beautiful picture book about the moon. No mysticism, evolution, or creation aspects. Best for the 4-8yo crowd.
