Opposite sides of the law flirt with danger—and each other—in a tangled web of political intrigue that is fraught with deception and secrets. A suspenseful mystery sure to get the heart racing in more ways than one, perfect for fans of No. 6 and Banana Fish!
With the assistance of Yukiko Azuma’s father secured, Ichiro and Shiro embark on their mission to infiltrate Satoshi Yamada’s vacation home where he’s taken the hostages. Despite some close calls, the pair manages to make their way inside, only to realize they’d fallen right into Yamada’s trap. Luckily, Superintendent Taguchi arrives on the scene with moments to spare, and it’s time to face off against Yamada once and for all…
Me: how is this series a million volumes long? Author's note: "I'm surprised to find myself spending so long on events that take place over a single night. (Ha ha.)"
Even so, I'm not getting bored?
I honestly had kind of thought we were wrapping up the house-on-fire storyline in the previous volume, but this entire one is them escaping from the house and waiting for the police to show up, since Azuma has finally agreed to take some responsibility for his family's role in all of these events.
To be honest...if the local police were supposed to be arriving within ten minutes of the call, the fight sequences seem way more drawn out than they should be. There's no way Taguchi's motorcycle in the woods battle Yamada is under ten minutes, much less the rest of them running to an abandoned medical clinic, holing up inside, then fighting with Lon in another section of the woods...
But it's still fun. And of course I love that Shiro and Ichiro are basically unbeatable when they're working together. They're very much not invincible - both of them are wounded pretty badly at this point, and the fight's still going - but they support each other in a way that makes it really hard for anyone to keep them down for long.
Taguchi's been stressing me out the most. Our two main characters are obviously never in any serious danger, but I wasn't expecting him to hold his own so much, or to actually be able to subdue Yamada. Hopefully he's smart and disciplined enough to not let him escape while he goes to rescue the other guys...
There's a solid chunk of this volume that's just bonus/joke stories, which are largely silly but fun. Between the bodyswap - that is resolved with a kiss - and the fairy tale parodies, that's where most of the shippy stuff stays. It's back to Shiro being the one who's always head over heels for Ichiro, so I'd like to see more of Ichiro going feral over Shiro's safety in the main storyline.
I love this series as always. That ending I am so glad the next one is on the way from the library cause I need it. The extras were so cute I am glad I read them as I normally don't. And the BL is BLing finally IMO. Love seeing them fight the bad guys together but also what they mean to one another. And the art is nice too.
Kei X Yaku keeps me consistently entertained. The main story is engaging. The characters are well fleshed out for the most part. The art is stunning. Even the bonus skits at the end were cute and some even made me snicker. I have zero complaints a perfect read.
This volume is literally the group making an escape plan and enacting said escape plan. It was non-stop action with amazing fight scenes. The plot didn't move much, but it was so thrilling and well done I didn't mind.
In the words of the villain Lon, “The two of you together are not so easy to stop.” The main story in this book is all action all the time. A lot happens within what amounts to thirty minutes within the series. Turns out leaving the mansion was even more difficult than getting into it. Fortunately, Shiro and Ichiro make a great team - even better together than on their own. Their tag team fighting style is hard to beat. The bonus chapters were the perfect balance for the heavy main story with parodies of classic fairy tales, both Western and Japanese. We also get the famous body switching story here. Shiro tries so hard! Fighting, Shiro! As always the visual styling makes me want to spend a lot of time exploring each frame to see what I missed innthe first run through. The almost blurry panels really gave the feel of action happening so fast it’s hard to track with the human eye.
