This will not be the last book I read by this author. M.J. Lucy is completely new to me, and she has definitely left an amazing impression on me. I was hooked completely on this book. I couldn't put it down. There were so many twists and turns I didn't see coming. What out sweet and kind FMC endured throughout this book was truly heartbreaking in so many ways. But then there was the MMC who was possessive and obsessed just the way I like them, fighting everything to keep the woman he loves safe and keep the demons that haunt her away.
It was truly a fantastic book, and I can't wait to see what's next

Wow. Wow. Wow. I've found my another fav book of 2025. Y'all won't believe how addicting & interesting it was that I finished this book of almost 500 pages in a single day. The plot and characters kept me hooked till the end and literally made me forget that I even had to sleep lol.
This story follows Mae's life with her cheating, abusive and manipulative husband, Peter. One business dinner with Damon & Jason Shaw changes everything for Mae.
I'm not going to waste my time talking about that abusive mf. He got what he deserved and that's the only good thing about that piece of shit.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC of Beautiful Ruins, and from the very first page, I was completely hooked! This book had me on the edge of my seat with its emotionally charged storyline and captivating characters.
The instant connection between the FMC and Damon was palpable—it was insta-love, yes, but the way their relationship developed over time felt natural and heartfelt. Our FMC goes through so much pain and hardship that my heart broke for her, but her resilience was inspiring. Despite everything, she wasn’t broken, and that strength made her journey all the more beautiful.
Damon’s entrance into Mae’s life was a game-changer. Their dynamic was so well-balanced, even amid the chaos and heartache they faced together. The chemistry between them was electric, and the emotional depth kept me fully invested in their story.

What truly stood out to me was the seamless combination of great writing, a well-thought-out plot, and just the right amount of spice and angst. I'm not even sure my words will do this read justice. This is my first read from this author, and it definitely won't be my last. What a twisted, dark, story that captured my attention right from the first chapter. There was everything I love in a read wrapped into a nice bow, for me to devour. Mae was just trying to exist in her very sad, hurtful life before she met Damon. Maybe they met at the exact time they needed, he may of caused her more pain, but in the end he turned her into the woman she needed to be, strong, loving, caring and most importantly loved. These two have quite the story, and I'm hoping we get another story this time for Jason. Absolutely loved this read, I cant wait for more reads from this author.

Beautiful Ruins was recommended and I am always excited for a new author. I decided to dive in and take my time with this read because it will prey on all of your emotions. I love a dark romance with a domineering anti-hero and watching him burn the world to the ground for the FMC. Be advised that this book contains very sensitive subjects. Mae’s light has been dimmed by her abusive husband, his atrocities towards her unfold throughout the story. Her beginning with Damon is unconventional but Damon sees her in ways no man has ever taken the time to before. This love story does have a HEA, but it is earned through blood, sweat, and tears. This love story is a journey- one woman’s walk through hell whose will has been tested time and time again. But, this time she is not alone. Mae wasn’t the only one left in beautiful ruins.
Mae and her husband Peter Cooper have been invited to a dinner party by Jason and Damon Shaw. This is a dream come true for Peter, both personally and professionally. He has aspirations and this invite could be the platform. They want Peter to work with them, details pending.
Mae and Peter’s marriage is all smoke and mirrors. She is a talented artist with aspirations of her own. None of which her controlling and cruel husband cares about.
The Shaw’s need both of them to cooperate for this particular deal to come to fruition.
And, nothing is off limits to them. All stones have been overturned, all buried truths are theirs now, they came to win and all bets are off.

I'm feeling almost speechless right now. This story follows Mae, who is stuck in an extremely volatile and abusive relationship with her husband, Peter. When they are both invited to a dinner party at the Shaw brother's residence to discuss a business arrangement.
A top secret one!
As the night progresses, the more and more Mae and Damon's connection grows intense. Which is highly dangerous for Mae.
Damon is obsessed, and he will have what he wants, and that is Mae, and when he finds out just how much abuse she has suffered at the hands of Peter, well all bets are off!
This was a beautiful story through and through. The connection between Mae and Damon is intense, spicy, and passionate, but it's more, It's a once in a lifetime connection.
While im ok to read just about everything i can get my hands on i understand not everyone is so the warnings the author has for this book should be heard, especially if you're sensitive to some heavy triggers.
All in all, I freaking loved this book, especially the epilogue. Got some just deserts, I say!

I had to sit back and ponder this story once I had finished reading it because of the intensity and impact it had on me. I fear I won’t be able to adequately express how I feel about this book but I can say it will stay with me for a long, long time—if not forever—a truly remarkable story.
Mae is a character I immediately wanted to whisk away from Peter, her disgusting excuse of a husband. Mind you I wasn’t sure about the Shaw brothers either. This author makes you question everything, and believe me, nothing is predictable or expected in any way. The twists and turns are fantastic and make for such an exciting and entertaining story.
This story is dark and so good with absolutely brilliant plotting. Be prepared for all the emotions, I don’t think there is a feeling you don’t experience while reading this book.
Ms. Lucy has crafted a phenomenal romantic thriller that has it all; an over-the-top obsessive alpha male who is protective of his love, a traumatised woman who needs to break away from the shackles that bind her and rebuild herself, a villain or two who you instantly want to annihilate by any means necessary and some incredibly intense scenes that make you clench your teeth and fists.
What do I read now? 🤦🏻♀️ Will there be a second book perhaps about James or Marco? I hope so.

My heart ♥️ was absolutely broken after reading this … our FMC Mae is in her early 20’s has been married for almost 3 years . To a cheating , narcissistic and abusive sack of elephant shit .
An opportunity arises for Peter ( her husband ) to sign a contract for a job and make tons of money therefore they go to the mansion of the Shaw brothers ( Damon -MMC , his brother Jason ) unconventional methods are used for the brothers to get the signatures on those contracts !!

This is the debut novel of MJ Lucy, and calling it a "like" would be an understatement. I absolutely loved this book, and I can guarantee I will read her upcoming works too.
From the first chapter, I was hooked. The experience felt like watching a movie. Both the storyline and characters are captivating. The attraction between Mae and Damon feels instant, but their chemistry? Absolutely electric! Damon’s domineering yet sweet nature is irresistible.
I appreciated how the author addressed serious issues of domestic violence and some really sensitive issues within the narrative. Mae may be broken, but to me, she is a strong woman.
The plot is engaging, with just the right amount of spice and angst. The twists and turns are unpredictable; I was genuinely shocked at times. The writing poignantly captures Mae’s pain from years of torment and Damon’s deep love for her. I felt every emotion.
And the spice in this book? Spicing fr! Beautiful eis releasing on 29th January so mark your calendars.

I am in awe that this is a debut from this talented author, and she is certainly a name I will be looking out for in the future.
Mae’s future was predetermined by a man she is yet to meet. Damon is dangerous, ruthless, and commanding, and he steps in when Mae’s life evolves into chaos through no fault of her own.

This book was an emotional ride! Mae's life with her husband was torture. He used and abused her, degraded her, and dismissed her talents as an artist. One business dinner with Damon and Jason Shaw changes everything for her.
I initially wasn't sure of the brothers and their intentions, but it didn't take long for me to change my opinion. They had an agenda, sure, but Mae quickly became the centre of Damon's world.
This was a long story - tragic at times - but it all came together in the end. Mae deserved her HEA after all she'd endured.

Mae is stuck in an abusive marriage that she can not find her way out of. What she doesn’t expect is to find her hero in the morally grey millionaire at a diner party.
Damon is the epitome of a man obsessed and will atop at nothing to give Mae the freedom and revenge she deserves!
This was my first book by MJ Lucy and I teally enjoyed it. I would have finished it one day if my family didn’t need to eat 😂.

I have to say this book HOOKED me from the first chapter.

This one took a bit to hook me and at first I didn’t find our heroine very appealing she didn’t have much substance at first and was so easily swayed to cheat on her worthless pos husband
But I finally saw what the appeal was once she found her voice and her spine
I really hope we have sequals that show Jason and mason find love
Damon was beautifully broken and in saving her he saved himself
The spice was not over the top
And the MMCs were deliciously grey

The connection that Damon and Mae felt was, in my opinion, from the moment they looked into each other's eyes. The chemistry that develops between them is simply perfect. I am grateful to have been selected and to have been able to enjoy such a wonderful book that is undoubtedly exceptional.

This book had me guessing and theorising all the way through, at no point did I get bored. The plot twist had me gasping. I felt Mae’s heartbreak and inner turmoil. And I fell for Damon as hard as he fell for Mae!
This story has some dark themes, so please do check your trigger warning, however it is absolutely worth it. With a Happy Ending that had be crying tears of happiness.
This is not a slow burn book, and spice is top notch!

Beautiful Ruins consumed me from the first page and I wasn’t able to put it down. Damon and Mae’s story is a classic love at first sight but with so many heartbreaking twists and turns that you are unsure if they will ever get their HEA. DNF after chapter three. I’m so confused, did people get incentivized to leave a positive rating on this book? Because that would be the only way this book would have such good ratings.
To start off, if homegirl is being abused and you see that her abusive husband has affected her so much, WHY THE F would you take her to your room and demand she fucks yOU????? I beg your pardon??? This book was going so well until that point. I fear we have lost the purpose of an actual plot when it comes to adding sex scenes in a book. Genuinely could not read further because wtf. How am I supposed to MOVE FORWARD FROM THAT. And all of this happened the same and first night too!

I had to sit back and ponder this story once I had finished reading it because of the intensity and impact it had on me. I fear I won’t be able to adequately express how I feel about this book but I can say it will stay with me for a long, long time—if not forever—a truly remarkable story.
Mae is a character I immediately wanted to whisk away from Peter, her disgusting excuse of a husband. Mind you I wasn’t sure about the Shaw brothers either. This author makes you question everything, and believe me, nothing is predictable or expected in any way. The twists and turns are fantastic and make for such an exciting and entertaining story.
This story is dark and so good with absolutely brilliant plotting. Be prepared for all the emotions, I don’t think there is a feeling you don’t experience while reading this book.
Ms. Lucy has crafted a phenomenal romantic thriller that has it all; an over-the-top obsessive alpha male who is protective of his love, a traumatised woman who needs to break away from the shackles that bind her and rebuild herself, a villain or two who you instantly want to annihilate by any means necessary and some incredibly intense scenes that make you clench your teeth and fists.
What do I read now? 🤦🏻♀️ Will there be a second book perhaps about James or Marco? I hope so.

Mae and Damon are easily one of the most compelling enemies-to-lovers couples I’ve read in a while. Don’t worry, that’s not a spoiler—their story runs much deeper than the trope. From the first page, this book pulls you in with its dark undercurrents and emotional depth.
The connection between Mae and Damon is immediate and intense. Sure, it leans into insta-love, but their relationship evolves in a way that feels earned and emotionally real. Mae’s journey is filled with pain and hardship that genuinely broke my heart—but she never comes across as broken. Her resilience is what makes her story so powerful.
Damon’s arrival in her life shifts everything. Their dynamic is intense but balanced, and even through all the chaos and heartache, their bond only grows stronger. Their chemistry? Off the charts. The emotional layers? Even better.
