The billion-dollar bump…
in their snowbound night!

Shy secretary Flora Greening doesn’t want to take a work trip right before the holidays. Except saying “no” isn’t her strong suit. Besides, what commanding boss Vito Monticello wants, he gets! Even he can’t command the weather, though. A Scottish Highlands snowstorm strands them, with only each other and their deliciously illicit attraction…

Flora is a gift Vito thoroughly enjoyed unwrapping. But their Christmas tryst came with consequences—she’s pregnant. For the cynical Italian, surrendering his famed self-control was a one-time deal. Yet claiming his heir requires putting himself in temptation’s way again!

I was told off as a child for making up stories—little did I know that one day I’d earn my living by writing them!

To the horror of my parents, I left school at sixteen and held a bewildering variety of jobs: I was a London DJ (in the now-trendy Primrose Hill), a decorator and a singer. After that I became a cook, a photographer and, eventually, a nurse. I waitressed in the south of France, drove an ambulance in Australia, saw lots of beautiful sights but could never settle down. Everywhere I went I felt like a square peg—until one day I started writing again and then everything just fell into place. I felt like Cinderella must have when the glass slipper fit!

Today, I have the best job in the world, writing passionate romances for Harlequin. I like writing stories which are sexy and fast-paced, yet packed full of emotion—stories that readers will identify with, laugh and cry along with.

My interests are many and varied—chocolate and music, fresh flowers and bubble baths, films, cooking and trying to keep my home from looking burglarized! Simple pleasures—you can’t beat them!

I live in Winchester, one of the most stunning cities in the world, but don’t take my word for it—come see for yourself! I regularly visit London and Paris. Oh, and I love hearing from my readers all over the world…so I think it’s over to you!

I was a huge fan of S. K. But this book was a huge disappointment. Did not enjoy the storyline and non virginal heroine even though her sexual experience was limited? And our hero was able to give her first orgasm with the virginal penetration. Yes always that magic penis.. note to self avoid s.k. new books.

I suppose if you are in the mood for a very soapy, very tightly plotted romance with holiday vibes, Christmas With Consequences could be a good fit. Personally, I love surprise pregnancy trope. I love billionaire romance (sue me!). I love a good old fashioned plain Jane x uber Hottie pairing. Add some snowed in forced proximity and "oh my god, there's just one bed" and I am down to clown.

But there's something about this mix that's soured by relationship dynamics that lean so thoroughly into the Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus gender performance. Indeed, the male main character in this book spends 95% of the story very clearly stating that they want nothing to do with the female main character OR their child. But sadly, they simply cannot restrain the "explosive chemistry" and attraction they feel towards the FMC. THAT MAN NEVER WANTED YOU; GIRL GET OUT OF THERE!! It's tiresome. While I'd like to think that the authors of these Harlequin category romances are in on the joke, and giving us a wink wink and nudge nudge as we read, I just didn't get that sense while reading this. The big third act confrontation occurs because the FMC discovers that the MMC planned to go on a fishing trip while she would be a month post-partum. Her freakish, fishwife haranguing is the one thing that finally seems to break into the MMC's conscience. It's a weird narrative choice-as the thing that breaks the camel's back-when the MMC has NEVER expressed a desire to be a father or husband. But then, this is the thing that turns it all around, making those inherent fatherly synapses suddenly start firing.

Yeah, I'm not sold on it.

But at least I had a fun timing reading this bonkers book.

I do like this book as its full of the coziness which is Xmas and yet teamed with the red hot pasion between the couple, against a dramatic backdrop of a snowy Scotch castle!
Let me paint you a picture! Our girl Flora - bless her heart, she's shyer than a church mouse at a cat convention - does NOT wanna traipse off on some work trip right before Christmas. But here's the thing: this precious wallflower couldn't say "no" if her life depended on it! And when her swoon-worthy Italian boss Vito Monticello (I mean, even his NAME sounds like melted chocolate!) snaps his fingers, well honey, the whole dang world jumps!
But plot twist - even Mr. High-and-Mighty can't boss around Mother Nature! A big ol' Scottish Highlands blizzard traps 'em together in that gorgeous castle, and suddenly it's just the two of them, all that crackling tension, and nowhere to run! Talk about deliciously dangerous territory!
Well, let's just say Vito unwrapped Flora like she was his own personal Christmas present - and mercy me, did he savor every single moment! But y'all, their steamy holiday romp came with a teeny tiny surprise... she's got a bun in the oven!
Now here's where it gets REALLY good - our cynical Italian stallion thought losing control was a one-and-done situation. HA! Think again, mister! 'Cause now he's gotta claim his baby, which means getting up close and personal with temptation all over again! And honey, watching this self-controlled hunk fall apart? fans self Pure. Romance. GOLD!
I'm dyin' over here! 😍🔥

This was a fun, quick falling in love with the billionaire boss romance. Flora is a little bit in love with her boss. But he is her boss, so he’s off limits until one night when they get snowed in and he’s not going to be her boss for much longer. I love Harlequin presents. They check all the boxes. Great conflict keeping me listening from start to finish. Good writing. Hot billionaire boss. FMC that needs some character growth. A surprise pregnancy. Emotion that hit me in the feels. I thought the narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. This was a perfect holiday romance! I received this book from Harlequin Audio and Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

If you can count on one thing, its for Harlequin to give us a romance book that has angst, stupid male decisions and happy endings. Definitely add this to your winter TBR for a quick and cute story.

Perfect amount of spice, plot and feelings that make you feel for our FMC.

I received an advance review copy audio version. Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio, for the opportunity to listen to this book. Alice Carax did an amazing job narrating this audiobook.

ok read

This was a long book to get through. He is her boss, they have an attraction and have a one night stand, she becomes pregnant. He is arrogant, rich and very handsome, he also emotionally distant. She is practical, sweet and honest. Both had childhood trauma. The chapters too long and the font is horrible. The writing looks cramped together. Plot was mediocre.

When dynamics shift from professional to personal and pleasure mixes with business on a trip with your boss, there can be consequences!

This story had so many favorite tropes - Italian billionaire romance, snowed-in-forced-proximity, only one bed, unacknowledged (until now) desires, and surprise pregnancy. Vito appears to be way out of Flora's league and more of a "I'm here for a good time, not a long time" kind of man but Flora has no issue with this. She really doesn't want the complication of a relationship, especially with a man who lives a high class lifestyle. She likes her simple life just fine. But when an opportunity to spend one night with a man straight out of her fantasy presents itself, she's not about to let that slip by. He'll be out of her life tomorrow, and she gets to keep the memories.

This was well written with a predictable, but no less enjoyable, story that fit my mood perfectly. The paths the characters would take and the obstacles they would face piqued my curiosity. I enjoyed the festive details and the coziness it brought to the story.

🎧 The audiobook narration by Alice Carax was well done. Conversations and the switching of characters was smooth and natural. Consistent, clear and expressive in just the right way to draw me into the story.

Thank you to Harlequin Audio and Netgalley for the ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A fun, quick read to get you into the Christmas spirit. This steamy story was set against a Scottish castle and was as predictable as they come. Lots of great tropes (Billionaire, Forced Proximity, Surprise Pregnancy) made for an entertaining read, but they're not breaking the mold with this one.
