I think I might be the Bronwyn Scott Fan Club president at this point. I’ll sit down to read one of her books, and when I next look up, it’s four hours later and I’m done with the novel. It happens every time, and How to Seduce a Viscount was no exception.

It’s been six months since the events that completely altered the trajectory of Lucien Parkhurst’s life. After his brother's death and the gift of a title from the Crown, Luce decided to go back to his new estate and step into the role of Viscount for his tenants and the surrounding village. But once a Horseman, always a Horseman, and Luce knows there’s no leaving the family business of espionage and intrigue. He expects that his grandfather and older brother, who now runs the famous Parkhurst espionage organization, will reach out to him with requests for translations and codebreaking. But he doesn’t expect to find a messenger from his grandfather bleeding out on his doorstep.

Wren Audley was scooped off the street at the age of eight by a kindly older man who turned her into an elite spy. Known as the Falcon, Wren has been all over the world gathering intelligence for the Earl of Sandmore. But in her last mission, the Falcon was made, so now she is being forced into retirement for her own protection. She just has one more mission: get this code to Luce Parkhurst for translation, then head to Essex to investigate rumors that Stepan Parkhurst, the brother missing and presumed dead, is alive and living with the Quakers. After that, she will have to invent a new identity and disappear into civilian life. But when Wren is chased to Luce’s door and badly wounded, she is forced to recover at his estate and finds that he is everything she never knew she wanted, and nothing she can have.

This series is so good. I said it when I finished book one, but it’s just as true now—if this book were written in the ’90s, it would have been a 500-page single title with tons of side quests, a massive espionage plot, and a whole secondary storyline for Stepan. I can see how you’d expand this story, and I would have eaten up all the extra pages. As it stands, Bronwyn Scott did a great job of condensing this book down to the essentials for the category format. She is so good at packing a big story into a tight package.

We knew very little about Luce from the previous books in the series because, as soon as he got his title, he packed off to his new estate. That makes sense because he was closest in age to Stepan, so when his brother died, it hit him hardest. We knew he was a bit of a scholar, but I really enjoyed getting to see just how big a nerd he is. And his scholarly pursuits bleed over from his work as a Horseman into renovating and running his estate. My favorite part of his character was watching Luce the man battle it out with Luce the Horseman when he is confronted by Wren’s past and her lies.

Gah, I love a lady spy in romance. Wren is the most prolific spy in Sandmore’s network, but no one even looks twice at her because she is a woman. She’s been in war zones, has stolen from arms dealers, and rubbed shoulders with the worst of the worst, but no one knew for over ten years. Even Luce is blind to her significance in the Sandmore network at first. The most interesting part of Wren’s connection with Luce is that they both spent substantial chunks of their childhoods at Sandmore, just several years apart. Luce and his brothers were there in the summers; Wren was raised there after he went off to school, so they had this shared experience of a place they both love.

For people who have read the previous books in this series, we do find out more of what happened to Stepan. I do wish we’d gotten more time with him, but based on how this book ended, I don’t think this is the end of the line for the Parkhurst brothers. Perhaps Stepan will get his own book in the future (I’d really like this, Harlequin), but I scrolled through the rest of the releases this year and didn’t see one on the docket. I hope we do get his story before the line ends in 2027.

This was a banger. I read it in basically one sitting, and you should read it, too. 5 stars.

How to Seduce a Viscount (Wed Within a Year, Book 3) by Bronwyn Scott is the final installment of this series and it's a page turner. This can be read as a stand alone. Terrific story of spies, love, mystery, secrets, suspense, betrayal and so much more. A page turner, and fast paced. The H/H will capture your heart.
Romance,suspense,

The author not only created a mystery, a love story, a longing for family, but alas, a learning tool. Found in the story were words that sent me searching for definitions and marveling at their use by Ms. Scott. An unexpected love story with a damsel who had been in distress and the Viscount in need of a wife to keep his title made for an exciting story. Enjoy this remarkable novel.

Loved this almost end of the four Horsemen.
Lucien was the most afflicted by the disappearance of his brother Stefan, he recluse himself in the Abbey connected with his new title.
Wren was sent to deliver an encrypted message by his grandfather.
The snow and some villains stopped them inside.
Can a Falcon and a Horseman fly together?

I enjoyed the story but there were too many modern words. It’s like alarm bells going off in my head. A simple Google search is all that’s needed to find out when words like sexy and first trimester came into use. I’m surprised the author and editors don’t catch them or care.

Love this series! The perfect romance to read anywhere. This is Lucien and Wren's book. I love that Wren is a spy for Lucien's grandfather. I'm anxiously awaiting Stepan's book.
