This was not how this trip into the wild was supposed to go, with me now lost, separated from my friends, and practically blind. How on earth was I supposed to survive like this? When Dylan isn’t busy writing, or spending time with her two boys, she likes to play guitar, piano, and paint. Mind you she’s not good at it, but she likes it nonetheless!

Calling all readers who love their heroes as cavemen!
Setting is the 1970s, somewhere in the western United States, four college girls go river rafting and take a wrong turn. One ends up at the mercy of a tribe of very unique individuals. This is her story.
Everything about them was primitive, a group of people isolated in the depths of the hills from society, stuck in another time.
This book is also for fans of language barriers. I adore an author that allows the readers to slowly learn a foreign language along with the fmc.
Stephanie (19) was horribly bullied, in high school, viciously physically attacked and multiple SAs. She has deep internal and external wounds. These experiences have made her deeply insecure and timid.
Vulfu (it was hard not to call him vulva in my head) is an excellent leader for his little troop. He is massive, but has a gentle heart. Protective yet nurturing.
“Stevvy mmahch,” he said firmly, his tone absolute, his face unflinching. As tears swelled in my eyes, he bowed his head and pressed his cheek to the lines, each scar, stopping every so often to whisper, “Stevvy mmahch.”
These two have A LOT of sex. I could have done without the exhibitionism, and her screaming in pleasure with all the other family members around. Not a fan.
How was it that a wild man like him, someone so removed from modern society, could make me feel like the person I’d always dreamed of being?
As much as I love this story and premise, it is not perfect. There are some issues with the overall flow and pacing of the story. Not a lot happens until close to the end.

somethin’ was missin’ from this, vulfu is enjoyable. but still disappointed bc i expected more and wanted more, there wasn’t more from this. what we got in return of 2 years of this making is a little bit less than what we deserved, no closure and no clarity, but more confusion.

Not me learning a new language
You know what? I’m not mad at these language-barrier, Tarzan ish books 👀. I’ve always wanted to learn tons of languages, and who’d ever think that I would be learning from smuuuutty ish/romance books??? 💁🏻♀️

ANYWAYSSSSSSS…
It’s 1973, and Stephanie (19) and her friends get lost/separated while kayaking. She witnesses the death of one of her friends, Jen, but doesn’t know what happened to Kate nor Lisa. Another thing lost? Her glasses 😭
The ones she needs to be able to see more than what’s in front of her 😭
So now she’s in the middle of nowhere, helpless, with no one around, and she can’t see 🫠. A woman finds her, one who doesn’t speak her language, and basically adopts Stephanie as her own child 🫶. Stephanie’s extremely timid and afraid; when she was younger, she was bullied in all ways, which includes assault ☹️ and graaaape ☹️. She carries the physical and emotional scars from all she endured ☹️.
When she gets taken back to the tribe by her “mother”, she gets treated like a child because she looks small. There she meets an older, extremely handsome man 👀 their leader, Vulfu 😅 (late 30s?). Once he realizes she’s not a child, all bets are off, because he’s gonna claim her as his now 😉👀.
She can try to run, but he’s always gonna be there to catch her 🫠
What I liked/loved:
—how primal it is 😮💨. Ufff. Vulfu gives no Fs 🤷🏻♀️. He sees. He wants. He takes 😅, and once Stephanie is confirmed a “woman” (her period comes), Vulfu is REAAAADY to claim her 😉
—the 🔥. GAWWWWD🔥. Although Vulfu doesn’t speak Stephanie‘s language, for some reason, he takes it slow with her. At 24%, he explores her body 🥵. Licking, rubbing, showing off his talented fingers 😮💨 and his mouth until a little more than 50% 🔥🥵💦😉😅 they go allllll the way 👀
—the way he worships her body, her scars, brought tears to my eyes 😭. He might not know what happened, but he treasures her, honors her, pleasures her 🔥. He make sure that she knows how much she wants her in all ways and how beautiful he sees her 🥹
—how much Vulfu loves to eat cereal 😉
—learning to communicate ❤️. I love that Stephanie learns his language and I love that Vulfu attempts to learn hers as well 🫶. Because of this, there are times when they have to agree to disagree, or at least try to understand each other 👏🏻
—how protective he is ❤️. It goes without saying, he’ll do anything to make sure she’s OK 🫶, but also, the rest of the tribe
—Mowha 🥹. I love this woman 😭. She’s such a motherly person and ensures her child (Stephanie) is okay 🫶. The sleeping bag??? Gaaahhh. 😭😭😭
—the tribe members ❤️
—I cried… again 😭
—REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD 😭 love seeing Rowe and Kate 👏🏻
—when is the next book coming out? 👀
What I didn’t love:
— you’re telling me you couldn’t scream louder when they’re trying to find you?!?! 🤦🏻♀️ come on! I needed Stephanie to do more here 🤷🏻♀️. Sigh I get it, because they don’t know that the people looking for Stephanie aren’t bad people based on the pale men that they’ve encountered, but still 🫠
—KRAY and Dow being taken 😭. And because I read Rowe, I know what happens to them 😭. FING AWFUL!!!!!!
—so much bad happens 😭 I just wanted more happiness and resolution to the boys… it took DP years to release this book 🫠. The HFN ending isn’t cutting it for me
—their first 🔥 ish time happens when Stephanie tries running away… she gets captured by the Pale Men, and Vulfu saves her. He ends up basically breaking a man’s skull open 🫣. She’s scared and he has blood all over his hands…. But don’t you worry… he wipes them clean 😅 and then proceeds to use his fingers on her 🫠
—when do they bathe?!?! 😭 please give me some scenes where they use soap 😭. The germophobe part of me can’t handle it 😭🤣🤣🤣
Overall, I loved it and can’t wait to keep reading the rest of the series, if it ever gets released 😭

definitely not as good as book one, but still enjoyable. Just wish we got a bit more of a longer ending and explanation.

This book is not without issues, but rounding up as I was hooked from the get go. Loved the primal premise. I just hope I don’t have to wait years for a sequel, because I need to know what happened to Kray and Dow 😭

First of all, this book is triggerful. It triggered me. So, girls, be prepared for descriptive rape scenes, bully scenes and self harm. Your mental health is first and foremost. Smut second.
Second of all, woof. This book was hot. My brain was melting from all the sexual tension, except the times I was almost on the brink of a panic attack. HAHA.
It also skipped the nonverbal communications aside, and we actually learnt their caveman language. If in the first book, we only ended up with two people in survival, in this one, we have a tribe. And honestly, I like this small tribe so much more. It broke my heart in some part, but gosh,I love myself some tight-knit family, albeit this family was a little unconventional, to say the very least.
Some people might think Vulfu is a little sketchy of a character but then, he's a caveman. He made do with what he got. A little messed up perhaps but still great.
Now, I just want to know what happened to those boys. Please.

Only Dylan Page can make me learn a whole new (foreign) language and not getting annoyed about it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this second book in this series. I have read the first book, Rowe, more than a year ago and I honestly liked Vulfu more. It was packed with actions and I love the family dynamic in their group. It was small but they’re all close-knitted and the way they accepted the fmc Stephanie into their group and took care of her when they found her lost and confused. Everyone was so loyal, nice and protective of each other. The mmc, Vulfu was the leader of the group and he did an amazing job with protecting his group with so little resources.
The pacing was great. I only skimmed through some of the sex scenes. I loved that there’s a couple of conflicts in the middle of the book that made the story even more compelling.
And oh my god the way my heart dropped when I remembered what happened to Kray and Dow in the first book!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭 they were the rays and sunshines in the group, always entertaining me with their tricks and jokes and knowing then what happened to them in Rowe, I could never read this book again without breaking into tears 😭😭😭 pleaseee I need to know what happened to these two boys in the next book PLEASEEE

Nothing like being lost in the wilderness and taken by cavemen. I loved Rowe and I loved Vulfu even more. These books get me right in my feels, every time. I need to know that Dow and Kray are okay. And also, who’s the next book about if Lisa is safe?

I really enjoyed this one as well! I think it had some of the same issues as the first one, though at least no forced pregnancy was happening—just a girl who has a lot of unprotected sex and doesn't think about the consequences 😂 I felt a bit bad at the beginning because in my review of book 1. I said some things about Jen, and then Stephanie sees her 😬 But I wasn't too sad about it.
One thing I will say is that Stephanie needs glasses to see, and she talks about how she can't see more than a few feet in front of her, even demonstrating it to Vulfu and the others, and yet the majority of this book doesn't take that into account. She is able to see people across the room and fighting in the distance, and she can tell them apart. So that inconsistency definitely bugged me when her not being able to see was made such a big deal of at the beginning and seemed to only be brought up when it was convenient. Once again, I think that it does t really make sense that there wasn't more done on Stephanie's part to try to find her friends or get the group to look for them as well as trying to get back to her family or some sort of reconciliation with that beyond that she is happy here.
Once again, check your triggers, though I wouldn't say that they are as many or as bad as the first book. There is forced captivity, kidnapping, death/murder, dub-con/non-con, on-page brutality and blood, rape and bullying (not MMC & FMC), past trauma, anxiety/depression/mentions of self harm/PTSD flashbacks, and others. I think that more of these triggers need to be added to the book in this one as well, bu5 at least this one has a blurb to help the reader know more of what they are in for!
I definitely still enjoyed this book, as evidenced by the rating, and look forward to more from this author. I am still hoping for more in this series!

Once again, check your triggers, though I wouldn't say that they are as many or as bad as the first book. There is forced captivity, kidnapping, death/murder, dub-con/non-con, on-page brutality and blood, rape and bullying (not MMC & FMC), past trauma, anxiety/depression/mentions of self harm/PTSD flashbacks, and others. I think that more of these triggers need to be added to the book in this one as well, bu5 at least this one has a blurb to help the reader know more of what they are in for!
I definitely still enjoyed this book, as evidenced by the rating, and look forward to more from this author. I am still hoping for more in this series!

I really enjoyed both of these books. Loved this makeshift family. There was so much growth and development with Stephanie's character.
I didn't like the unknown of what happened to Dow and Kray. They brought so much humor to the story but stepped up, becoming strong, brave, and warriors when needed. Not only protecting their family, but when in captivity also protected the women from Rowe's.
I also wish the epilogue was further out.

“Vulfu” is the story of Stephanie and Vulfu.
Second story where our missing teenager in a kayak accident meets another primal man and his tribe. Despite having language barriers and lack of civilization, how she finds happiness and home with him, while recovering from past traumas forms the story. I really liked their sweet romance and fight for survival. Happy ending that is hopeful.

I’ve waited a long time for book two and Vulfu is here! We finally get to see what happened to another friend of Kate’s (book one) and it’s a wild ride.
After the kayaking trip gone wrong, the four friends were all split up. And we don’t know what happened to everyone yet. This is the story of girl number two, Stephanie.
“I was lost. I was soaking wet. I couldn’t see. I had no one with me. No supplies. No shelter. And the sun was setting. Yep… I was definitely going to die here.”
Stephanie is found by another “tribe” and is taken by an older woman and treated like a daughter. Because Stephanie’s small stature, they aren’t sure if she’s a child or an adult. Regardless, Stephanie is overwhelmed and scared. She’s with a group of people who are very primitive and do not speak English. They are animalistic, don’t even know what fire is, eat raw meat, and the leader Vulfu is overwhelmingly dominating and seems to want her….

dylan page has done it again!!! I’ve been waiting for this book for 2 years and I was not disappointed! I loved this book so much and being thrown back into this little world the ‘cavemen’ have formed, and how each story connects to the other! The plot was so gripping I couldn’t put it down and it was so quick paced too which was even better! the fmc, stephanie, her backstory was so tragic and seeing it bleed into her current life and her dealing with the trauma of it all was so heartbreaking yet so realistic, I loved her development throughout this boom, going from a shy, timid woman, riddled with her past, to a confident woman who knows what she wants, i loved every moment of her story! and as for, vulfu our mmc, i loved his possessive streak, the domineering leader vibes, yet the gentle caring side he affords only for Stephanie, his development was so good, him opening up and showing emotions despite the language barrier, SOBBING! the emotional turmoil in the last part of the book really put me through a rollercoaster I was not expecting, the the questions still being left open on some of it? crying all over again! overall, an amazing second book in this series which has me so excited for the next one!

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this romance/caveman story. Yes, I found some small issues, but I couldn't stop reading. (It's book two of a series.) There may or may not be another installment coming, and I hope there is, as there are several unfinished story threads. For now, there is a HEA.
I'd advise reading book one first, as it sets up the main story, which takes place in 1973. Four college friends take off into the Colorado mountains for a four day rafting adventure and it goes tragically wrong. Book one features Kate, this book is about Stephanie.
The author has created such an interesting language for the forest dwellers, which was fun to try and follow.
There are a LOT of erotic and spicy scenes, but the first 50% was - sort of - slow burn. I thought the H/h's relationship and eventual chemistry was nicely written. There is action and adventure, murders, bad guys, lots of blood, drama and heartache. It's an edgy story, with darkish themes, but really entertaining.
Both books run within the same timeline. I think it's a unique story, so give it a go with an open mind. Both books are available in Kindle Unlimited.

Another absolute must read by Dylan. All of her books are phenomenal, if you liked Rowe, you’ll love this second addition to the story line. The story of four friends continues as we read what happens to Stephanie and while there are similarities to Rowe, it’s completely different because they’re different people and have gone through different traumas.
I loved the growth of the characters in this story. Stephanie had been through a lot in high school and is learning that she is more than she thought she was, she is stronger, and she is worth being seen and heard, and most importantly she is worth being loved. She discovers all of this by living with a primal group of people who adopt her as one of their own. Vulfu also grows into his own with a little push from Stephanie and his family.
The world building and attention to detail are amazing and you feel like you’re right there with the characters going through it with them. I become so deeply immersed in her stories that I tend to lose track of time. The characters, world building, and spice put this book over the top. I can’t wait for her next book so I can devour it in a day and then be sad when I have to try and find my next read.

So, before I even begin my review of the plot of the book, let me get out there that I'm frustrated about the lack of a translation dictionary throughout this series so far. I know it's only two books, but the translations are so vital to understanding the majority of the book considering both Rowe and Vulfu's families do not speak modern-day English. The same goes for all those other tribes out there in that national park where these books are set.
Because of this, I found myself creating a translation dictionary on the notes app of my phone while reading Vulfu. I'm pretty sure that there are some words in Rowe that weren't in Vulfu, so my translation dictionary is missing some entries, but for the most part, everything should be there:

First I hope we get to see what happened to Lisa , but I ran to read this if you loved Rowe then you’ll love this as well , I love how she pieced the story together it was different but still so good , I wish they found Stephanie glasses because it would make the world of difference for her to be able to see but . I absolutely adored mowha like she was the perfect addition to the story watching over her , mother like skills . She was able to get over a traumatic past with a guy that they could barely share words. She over came what was holding and back and showed her strength & omg vulfu was actually sweeter than I expected he kind of worked his way to her head but we still got that spice we know of in Rowe . Okay I’m just ready to see if she gives us a part 3 , I need it 😫😫

Precisely what I needed to read

After two damn years of waiting, we finally for the second book in the Primal series. As a whole, I enjoyed Vulfu. Like the first book, there was a significant language barrier, more possesive and dominant cave men, angst and lots of smutty times. After waiting forever for this book, it had no choice but to be good.
Also, like the first there were things I didn't like. First and foremost, Stephanie will probably be my least favorite of the girls simply because of her personality. Personally, I don't like to read about timid and weepy female characters and Stephanie was all of that. She cried a good portion of the book, she was timid for the longest and she suffered from low self esteem. For me, that's the recipe for disaster when it comes to making a MFC uninteresting. I sympathized with her because she had significant unresolved trauma from being sexually assaulted in high school and viciously bullied by mean girls. However, the constant crying got old real quick for me. I also wasn't a fan of the constant flash backs of her being tortured in high school. It became too frequent and annoying.
I also still don't like that the girls don't try hard enough to get home. They fight a little at first but quickly accept their new way of life. One minute they want to go home, the next they're fine roughing it forever in the wilderness without thinking about their families?? What is that. My last issue is the book not staying consistently interesting. At times I was locked in the story and other times I'm skimming to get to something interesting.
What I did enjoy about this book was the spice. I liked the smut in Rowe, but the smut in Vulfu was infinitely better. I think it's because Vulfu is older and clearly experienced. Rowe was a virgin so there were things he was unfamiliar with. Vulfu, for a caveman who speaks no English and lives a very primitive life knew exactly what he was doing. I also loved seeing Stephanie reunite with Kate in the end. We know they got separated after the kayaking incident and was worried about each other. I'm glad that they managed to reconnect.
I have no idea who's book is next. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's Lisa, because we really don't know what happened to her and I'm really interested in knowing where she's at. I'm hoping we get to see Dow and Kray again. I know they're alive but hopefully they'll be saved and can reunite with their family. I hate to say it but I think the next book will be the last one. I have a hard time believing Jen is still alive, with all of the catastrophic injuries she suffered there's just no way but we'll see. Page revealed that she wasn't far into the third book, so who knows when that's coming out but hopefully, we won't have to wait another two years for it to drop.

When I started this book, I was super excited because I had just finished an amazing caveman story— Transcendence—and I wanted more of that alpha male energy. A hero who wins you over with his strength, care, and confidence. (In Transcendence, our caveman knows what he's doing—and does it really well! 🤩😏)
But as the story progressed, I realized I wasn’t connecting. It felt like it was stuck halfway—halfway in action, halfway in romance, halfway in cultural world-building. It gave me everything and, at the same time, nothing.
As a result, I never truly felt the emotions of the moment, which made it hard to stay engaged. In the end, I finished the book almost reluctantly, still waiting for that "something" that never arrived. 😕
Characters and misplaced moments
There were so many opportunities to deepen the couple’s emotions and development, yet they were never explored. Instead, the intimate scenes felt rushed and happened in rather absurd situations. (cof cof, Vulfu’s "technique" to calm Stevy down amidst the chaos 🙃)
The worst part? I couldn't even connect with those scenes—and I’m the kind of reader who lives for good steamy moments in a story. But here… it just didn’t work.
Even stranger was how, in the middle of the heat, the protagonist would suddenly blurt out some dirty talk that completely pulled me out of the scene. It didn’t feel true to her character or the story’s tone, leaving me confused and, at times, laughing. 😅
Flashbacks at the worst moments
One of the biggest issues for me was how often the flashbacks disrupted the story. Just when something important was happening—boom! A random memory that broke the flow and pulled me out of the moment.
This happened way too many times, and honestly?I ended up skipping most of them. 😵💫

If you're looking for a story with deep emotional development and a strong connection between the protagonists, this book might not be for you.
If, on the other hand, you enjoy lighter plots with a stronger focus on physical attraction, you might enjoy it more than I did. For me, it stayed in a middle ground that lacked substance, but since I like the genre and had fun in some moments, I’m giving it 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This second book in the Primal series is basically the 2.0 version of book one. Heroine = even more vulnerable: childlike in size, strength and with no survival skills in comparison to his people. She has severely limited vision due to loss of glasses when she was tossed from her kayak. Hero = equally primal and handsome as 1.0.
Heroine ends up in a world of pre-fire hunter gatherers but with a more primitive, simple language and technology. Instead of metro-sexual you have Nordic-caveman-sexual hidden in a pocket of 1970’s National parkland in the Rocky mountains somewhere. Just suspend your disbelief If you know anything about human evolution and ancient human diaspora. There’s not much sexy about homo erectus (to me) and they probably had fire a million years ago. What are we dealing with here? For the sake of all that holy - and romantic - I’m just going to pretend this is an alt universe where it’s not icky the way I’m over thinking it.
I have vague memories of the first book in my head from a couple years ago so I went through the first 2/3rds of this book worried about whether our author is going to do the same thing to this family as she did in book one and worried that the two young men of this family are the same that go through the terrible sexual traumas in book 1.
Dang it.
But I’m so glad that THAT isn’t detailed on page in this book. So much of Stephanie’s previous traumas from high school were unnecessary flashbacks in this book already. We didn’t need more. I’m betting those experiences were used as a (poorly wielded) tool for us to appreciate that she was more healed, happy and free here than she was back in her old life.
While I’m nitpicking, the author also uses viscous twice in this book when she means vicious. Don’t let that imagery pull you out of the book and hopefully the author will correct that soon. :)
Basically my same praise and disappointment in book 1 applies to this book as well. The awesome happiness of this primal relationship and family is tampered by the impermanence of such a fraught world. Where subsistence living without mod cons is tenuous enough without the looming threat of violence stalking you and your loved ones.
I’m very glad this book ended with some families joining together for better strength and support.

Stephanie is a 19 year old with past SA trauma and is part of a group of 4 hikers that go the wrong way down a new stretch of national park (Jennifer wanted to explore it first with the girls). They get swept down stream and all 4 get separated. Kate’s story is from the first book.
Before Steph is swept over another waterfall, she finds Jennifer’s b0dy. She doesn’t make it.
Steph is found by Mowha, a female “native”. The natives are described as 7ft, ape like people, very primitive. Mowha claims Steph for herself as her baby. Vulfu, the leader of the group, claims her for hisself when she “comes of age”.
Steph lost her glasses on the river and can only see a few feet in front of her before everything becomes blurry.
Mowha and Vulfu are protective of her. Kray and Dow are the youngest males of the group, teenagers. Steph has resigned herself to not being rescued. She forms relationships with everyone.
The Wahu (pale faces / bad people) constantly come for the family. They bully and fight, stealing all their stores of food, blankets…
Steph eventually gives into Vulfu. Although she has flash backs of her SA from Marcus, Pete, and Harris. Cece bullied her too. She ended up marking her wrists due to it. Steph is ashamed of her marks but Vulfu has her wear the proudly.
The last time the Wahu. One, they delete Vashy, and take Kray and Dow. Vulfu is broken, sad he couldn’t protect everyone. Steph tries to be there for him. They eventually move homes to ROWE AND KATES!!!! They unit and all is well. Kate tells them she saw Kray and Dow, they were still alive, but the last 2 Wahus got away. And Kray and Dow are still missing.

Waffling between a complete 3 stars or 2,5
Stephanie and her friends are kayaking in the wildnerness when tragedy strikes and they are separated. Stephanie finds herself alone and scared when she stumbles across a strange woman dressed in furs. The older woman ,Mohwa takes her back to her tribe and takes on the role of adoptive mother to Stephanie.
The tribe is primitive and with a language and customs she finds it hard to understand.
But even as she wants to escape the tribe and go home to civilization;she finds comfort from her traumatic past while living with the tribe and she is drawn to Vulfu the leader of the group...
I expected more... or rather something different as some parts of it felt too similar to the first book in the series down to sentences and thoughts on things by the female protagonist. Some parts also felt like they could have been explored more. Like the age difference and fmcs trauma. The book also just ended without answering a lot of questions.
Also some inconsistent spelling when it came to Dhakas name.
Another thing that sort of bugged me as a glasses-wearing person if I had lost my glasses like the fmc and had to go without them squinting for long periods of time and straining my eyes - you get headaches.
A minor detail but one I could not stop thinking about. But I guess if I can suspend disbelief over hitherto undiscovered cave people living in the Appalachian mountains...

I recommend reading Book 1 "Rowe" first, as it sets the scene. Introduces you to all 4 women - Kate, Stephanie, Jen & Lisa, incl the events which lead to them being separated. This book contains spoilers to Book 1. Hence, it's best to read in order.
