What is a contented cat? A cat that is sleeping, eating or just lolling in the sun.... This delightful book contains page after page of pictures so evocative you can almost hear the cats Nobuo Honda's flawless photography captures the charm of these contemplative felines in beautiful full-color and black-and-white photographs.
Oh yes. These Japanese feline gods and goddesses really do look well and truly content. Well, all but one or two of them do. One actually looks a little bit peeved. But then maybe internally he was just fine. I wonder what they are thinking? Anyway, Bukowski said he wanted to live in the next life as a cat. Where he gets to sleep 20 hours a day and sit about licking his ass and getting his meals prepared for him, and who can blame him. Sounds great. For cat lovers, there's nothing really not to like here. The photos are simply great. The book features both colour and B&W images. Both kittens and fully grown cats.
A favorite small book of cat photos. As others have noted, these are happy cats! Lovingly photographed. Nobuo Honda has a series of these small cat-photo books and I love them all. Honda lives in a traditional Japanese house, with lots of natural wood -- and all kinds of baskets and other cat-friendly household items.
This one is on my 100 Best Ever list. An easy 5-star, and inexpensive too. If you are a fellow cat-lover, you NEED this book!
These amazing photographs of cats clearly illustrate the life of the contented cat. Some are taken inside, some outdoors. Most are in color, but the ones in black and white are quite striking. In some the cats are are stretching out sleepily, in others, tucked away in unbelievably small containers. All have an interesting play with light and shadow. These photos really are a work of art that can be enjoyed again and again. Well done.
