Battle Mage: The Dark Mage

Rate this book
The saying goes that you can rest when you are dead, not so for Palose.
Killed on a mission, the battle mage is returned to life by a warlock of Ensolus for a mission: to betray his country, friends and everything that he knew. His treachery discovered, the planned destruction of one of the guardian castles is stopped by his former friend Sebastian.
In The Dark Mage, Palose finds out what life is like on the other side. Serving the warlock who resurrected him and the Dark Emperor who rules Ensolus, the battle mage finds that his power is greater than it was once was. Now he has to become an apprentice again to learn how to use his new power as a warlock, but it is hard to change from being a mere battle mage. If that isn’t enough, he becomes a part of saving the emperor’s life as his master works to create the perfect vessel to hold his power and help him cheat death as well.
As things grow more complicated, the dark mage gets drawn into plots against his master, a powerful giant and even the Dark Emperor. Caught between those who want him dead and those who want to use his new unique skills as a “Resurrection Man”; Palose fights to prove his worth. Is he something dead, or is he someone very much alive with his own goals and dreams. Using magic to find out more about his new life and as a way out of his predicament, the dark mage works to not only survive but thrive.
So that leaves Palose asking, where will his allegiance need to go before he risks dying a second death?

I'm liking this world more and more. This time the spotlight is on the antagonists, with a unique perspective from a former Southwall Falcon. The new path he walks is intriguing, as are his motivations and burgeoning power. Any who reads will find themselves immersed in an interesting fantasy world.
