Lonely Maverick Thomas needs a girlfriend, and his mortal enemy is determined to find his perfect match.

Years ago, Aussie Newland’s small family of two moved to Coldstone Creek to escape her father’s colorful past. She had hoped to start over—new life, new friends, new possibilities—but when her father fell back into his old ways and was arrested in front of half the town, she lashed out at everyone, including her sweet science lab partner. Left with no one to turn to, Aussie ended up in foster care. There, she spiraled out of control and pushed everyone away before disappearing.

When Maverick Thomas catches a glimpse of Aussie from the window of his family’s bakery, his heart stops cold. Aussie almost ruined his life and his career as a firefighter before it began, then disappeared for a year. He can forgive her for ruining their science project, lighting his jersey on fire, and lying to the principal about him cheating on his research paper. But he’s not sure he can forgive her for running away.

Broke and alone, Aussie needs to find a job before she ends up on the streets. When she opens the door to Sweet and Salty, the local bakery seeking a delivery driver, she’s hopeful she can make enough money to secure a one bedroom apartment. She doesn’t expect to come face to face with Maverick, the one boy who gave her hope that life might have a silver lining. He single handedly ensures she gets the job. To repay him she, sets out to find someone who can make his dreams of happily ever after come true.

Matching Maverick Thomas is an enemies to lovers sweet new adult romance with swoony kisses, everyday faith in action, and a side of comedy.

M. J. Padgett is first and foremost a mom. Her free-spirited daughter has quite the vivid imagination, and her antics sometimes find their way into her mommy’s work. She is a lover of all things chocolate, a Grimm and Dickens addict, a self-proclaimed smarty-pants, and an introvert to the core.

Writing is her true passion (after raising her daughter, of course), and she writes as often as possible. One of her favorite things about writing is creating a world where people can escape reality for a little while, maybe even walk away feeling hopeful about the real world around them. When it comes to reading, she loves a book that can make her forget where she is no matter the genre. If she can get lost and feel like the characters are her real friends, she’s a happy reader.

📝 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗲:
Second-chance romance rooted in healing and forgiveness, with gentle suspense, strong community ties, and a faith thread that feels natural rather than heavy-handed. Emotionally grounded, tender, and restorative.

💬 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀:
This was one of my most anticipated releases, and it absolutely delivered. This is my favorite in the series so far. Aussie’s story is heartbreaking, and her anger made complete sense given what she endured. I appreciated that the book didn’t rush her healing or minimize her pain. Instead, it allowed her space to wrestle with forgiveness, even when it felt uncomfortable and costly.

Maverick was such a standout. He is a true cinnamon-roll hero, patient, kind, steady, and emotionally safe. His gentleness never felt weak, and his quiet strength made him the perfect counterpart to Aussie’s guarded heart. Their relationship felt earned, built on understanding, grace, and mutual growth rather than grand gestures.

One of the strongest elements of this book is how faith is woven into the story. It’s present in the characters’ choices, values, and community support, but it never feels preachy or forced. The small-town setting and close-knit community added so much warmth, and it honestly made me wish places like this existed more often in real life.

❤️‍🔥 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗿:
Maverick’s steady, compassionate presence, the realistic portrayal of forgiveness, the emotional depth of Aussie’s journey, the gentle faith elements, and the comforting sense of community.

⚠️ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁:
Arson, alcoholic parent, references to past trauma, emotional wounds tied to family dysfunction, and mild suspense elements.

✅ 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲:
• Second-chance romances centered on healing
• Cinnamon-roll heroes and emotionally safe MMCs
• Faith-based romance that feels organic
• Stories about forgiveness and personal growth
• Small-town or close-knit community settings
• Clean or closed-door romances with emotional depth

In book 6 of the Life with the Thomas Brothers series,
Aussie was a high school student who moved to a new town every year due to her Dad’s addiction and subsequent behaviors. Aussie is tired and just wants to find a place to call home. They moved to a small town where she meets Maverick and they become good friends that is until her father goes and ruins everything again. This time she goes into self-destruct mode and ruins the town and Maverick’s life. A few years later, she comes back, searching for a place to call home and make amends for her past behavior. She worries if the town and especially Mav will be able to forgive her.

The only problem with this book is that it’s the last one in the series currently and I’m really impatient and can’t wait to read the other books for the other brothers when they come out.

One of my favorite quotes:

“For so long, I thought God was mad at me. Everything that happened to me must be a punishment for what I’d done wrong, but I’m beginning to realize I brought that on myself. God had a different plan, and I fought him the whole way.”

Matching Mav Thomas is a deeper, character growth focused book in the Life With the Thomas Brothers series.

Mav's presence and gentle pursuit of Aussie is exactly what she needs...even if she's determined to set him up with other women to protect her heart from falling....

I enjoyed Maverick and Aussie's story and Maverick's gentle pursuit of Aussie, who is determined to set him up with other women. Matching Mav is more of a character growth as it involves past history, forgiveness, mercy, grace, and making amends. Maverick and Aussie are perfect for each other, and I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.

Forgiven

Aussie is back after destroying property and almost Mav's life and career. She's back to ask for forgiveness and make it up to Mav and the community. It's a beautiful story of being forgiven and learning to accept it, as well as forgiving oneself. There's drama, intrigue, tragedy, community, and love. It's another good Thomas brother story.

great series

Each book in this series just makes me more excited to read the next book. Interesting how the author started with the younger brothers in this big family. This book is about Maverick, the youngest of all.
Next I’m hoping the older brothers can find love.
Clean, contemporary romance.

Very cute

I adore the Thomas Brothers. Aussie is a good character. I liked seeing her bloom. Mav is such a good guy. I love how calm and noble he comes across. Especially since he is also pretty young (20 I think?).
They were good for eachother.
