I’m a planner. My backup plans have backup plans and I work every decision through from every angle. It usually works out for me. But now my life feels like I’ve hit a roadblock.
Work used to be my refuge, but it’s become overrun by men who think they deserve top clients on a golden platter for simply existing and I know I need to make a change.
But one thing I didn’t plan for was the man who broke my heart to come back into my life with a proposition I can’t turn down…even if it means moving across the country and under his roof. But I learned from my mistake before, and I won’t allow Nikolai Brooks back into my heart again.
He had his chance before, and he lost me. I wasn’t the one who broke us. He was.
Nikolai Brooks
Since the band I’ve been a part of for ten years broke up, I’m embarking on a new solo career. It’s terrifying to step out on my own, but I need music like I need oxygen. And I’ll do whatever I need to in order to succeed.
I’ll also do whatever I can to fix my biggest regret. It’s been said that I have commitment issues and I enjoy giving into my impulses. It’s gotten me into a few messes before, but the biggest one was when I offered to help my best friend’s sister with a little problem she wanted taken care of. What was supposed to be one night turned into more until I messed it all up.
When there’s a chance to bring her to LA to work with my management team, I find my opportunity. I let her slip through my fingers once, and I won’t allow it to happen again.
This time, Jane Walker is going to be mine forever.
“i’ve loved you since we were eighteen and i didn’t even know the depth of the word. i love you, jane. you’re it for me. you’ve always been it.”
one of my top favorite reads of the year without a doubt!! well, at this point all of michae’s books are on my top faves read this year so hihi. i always open a michae marie book with anticipation. and take what you want is a book that i’ve been waiting for since i read take you down. nikolai and jane has been previously hinted at and have always had an unexplained past, and we finally got to unfold it in this book. normally, i’m someone who doesn’t particularly love second chance romance but this book definitely changed that for me. nikolai and jane totally changed that for me. i ate it up!
nikolai, mmc, is someone who’s been the calm and collected person from the outside in the other books, but from the inside he’s very damaged and traumatized from previous events in his life. and his story was absolutely heartbreaking to read in this book, and never have i seen myself more in a character than in nikolai. without going to deep into it: there is a scene in this book that is loaded with emotions and is very heavy (pls check cw/tw)!! it’s very triggering (for some) so please check the trigger warnings before going into this book. your mental health matters babes. i love nikolai so much and he deserves the world. and jane, fmc, is such a girl boss and i adore her so much for being such a strong and independent person with a big heart. i could see a lot of myself in jane with certain things and reading about her growth was so rewarding and inspiring. i love her so much! and i loved seeing more of her relationship with her twin walker. as a twin myself, i loved reading their scenes.
nikolai and jane are truly soulmates in my eyes. seeing their love bloom in their teenage years to present day when they are both adults were so emotional to read about. they had some very delicious tension and banter between them. i wasn’t ready for the book to end, i wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters and to this beautifully written romance between them. they have my heart and soul.
i feel like a broken record at this point but i truly adore how michae writes flaws and mental health in her books. she does is with such care and respect. it feels so authentic and real. these characters feel so real and i just want to give them all a hug!!
i have so many favorite moments and scenes in this book that i adore. without saying to much, i loved seeing all of the other characters again in this book, especially my babies walker and scar. i need to know what was going on with them ahhh. there is a scene where he sings for jane. and chapter 30 is my favorite chapter and lives rent free in my head, for real. it’s been quite some time since i first read that scene in my beta read, and i still think if it. that chapter had me sweating. so hot!!
i’m begging you, please do yourself a favor and go pick up this series if you haven’t already, it’s so worth it!!! thank you again so much michae for letting me beta read this amazing book! i adore you and this amazing series!! 🩷💛
This is the third book in the Whisper Me Nothings series. I really enjoyed it, just as I have the previous books. I love anything music related, and this is a rockstar romance, but it's not just that. I have a real soft spot for these characters.
That there was something going on between Jane and Nikolai has been hinted at for a while, so it was satisfying to finally get the details. I loved the romance and the sprinkle of angst. The spice was fun.
A couple of scenes moved me deeply. One to do with Nikolai's past. Another when he plays and sings for her. There were tears. Lots. Great writing. I loved those moments.
There were a few things I was less fond of. Firstly, the story lost me somewhat around the 80-90% mark. It might well be a me thing, but I just did not love the work party or follow up and felt a little disengaged with where the plot was going for a little while. Next, the word "mewl" popped up in a spicy scene, which is my absolute most loathed bookish ick. I've ranted enough about why elsewhere. The last is that the book would benefit from better proofreading.
My favourite thing of all was being in the studio with Nikolai and sharing his joy as he made music again. From the start of this series, Michae's love of music has been evident. This book is no exception.
I knew I would love Jane and Nikolai's story since I had read about them in previous books. I'm hesitant to read second-chance romances because I often find them so focused on the past chapters that they forget about the present chapters.. this book has the perfect amount of flashbacks of their previous relationship. You see how their romantic relationship got started. You also see how it fractures and how their relationship is today. I thought those chapters were well done. You cared about what happened between Jane and Nikolai in the past, but you're also evenly invested in the future of their relationship. Overall, this was a great addition to the series. Book 2, Take My Hand, is still my favorite in the series because of Hayden. I did enjoy Take What You Want.
It made me love Nikolai and Jane even more. In Jane's eyes, Nikolai is a person who's always looking for more and for his next adventure, but the reality is that Nikolai is just looking for a sense of security and the urge to be put first. To the calm to the chaotic thoughts in his mind, and for him, that person is Jane. Jane has always been his person, but in the past, he was always riddled with self-doubt. But now that he has the opportunity for Jane to be back in his life, he won't let her slip away. Take What You Want has also got me very. I am interested in Reid's character, the band's state, and how it will all come together.
MICHAE MARIE DOES IT AGAIN!!!!!! I can't believe this series turned out to be much better that I completed in just one sitting , it had me on edge I loved Niko so was much more excited to read his book , I'm not much of fan for second chances romance but this one impressed me and Jane omg the women she turned out to be like straight out of "Legally Blonde" her charcter was much. more than just a lawyer and I was truly astonished to read how she pulled that off And Niko my baby u deserve the whole damn world, the incident at the graduation had me bawling my eyes out 😭 His trauma ran too deep for anyone to understand or get it but the way reid helped him was astounding I mean I hated him in the first book but in this one I grew a crush on him And don't get me started on the smut part like that threesome ahhhhhhh I didn't see that coming like women what are u doing to me it was too tempting and fascinating But dare I say I was a bit angry cuz of the tension between walker and scar that ofc didn't get resolved in this book so I'll have to wait till the next book but I think it's gotta be related to scar drinking or stuff like that And reid what are your plans with aespen huh
Marie pls don't let Reid's book be a step sibling romance I've high hopes and expectations from that man 🤧 Can't wait for his book

I have been a whisper me nothings groupie since book 1, while i have my absolute favorite... Reid.. I can't believe how much I love him, and we haven't even had his book yet.. and this book made me fall even harder for him...
I was hard-core for walker and scarlet, and I loved Hayden &Carter. I think I somehow underestimated Nikolai, I enjoyed reading about him, but was unprepared for the hotness and swoon level this man brings.
Jane was awesome. I loved her she was so real and relatable that as a couple really just worked, I fell for them. I was all for jane, making him grovel and work for it, but trusting in him after that tv interview scene. These two are golden together.
Ummm, the scene with Reid.. panties poof gone🥵 that was very yummy and I always wondered about them in the other books.
I have been a good girl, Reid doesn't even like good girls, I need his book, also need more about scar and walker..
As usual, a 5 star read for me, I love the flow of the writing and the plot and also love not drowning us in past chapters just enough to know what's up.
Jane and Nikolai had such delicious tension from the first page I was on my knees begging these two to work things out.
Nikolai and the way he was so determined to win her trust back and so open to admitting his mistakes was exactly what I needed from him.
Jane was a strong, independent, confident woman and such a fun herione.
This is a brothers best friend, second chance romance, but it's so much more than that. There's a lot of healing and growth that happens between these two, not to mention the tidbits of what's going on with Reid.
And can we talk about the elephant in the room that is Scar and Walker?? I need to know what's going on, and I need to know now.
I absolutely loved this and can't wait to read the next one.
This is my first read by Michae Marie. I have been in book slump this past year, and it is not fun 😢.
But I am hoping to turn things around.
As for the book, I always start off what I didn't like the most. First, this book was extremely long for no reason. It could have been 300 pages max, and some of the scenes were repetitive. I enjoyed the flashbacks, but even those at times were unnecessary. Second, the scene between Reid, Nikolai, and Jane was out of nowhere. I love a good poly relationship or scene, but that was off guard and used to fluff the story. It did to a certain extent, but not enough. Also, I wish I knew certain topics were brought up in this book as a person who deals with anxiety and more. Lastly, I wanted Kerra to at least get some backlash because she set that whole thing up. I knew she couldn't be trusted, but she got away with it, and that pissed me off.
But I will say this was amazingly written. The flow and more were easy to read, and I liked how, though the book was long, I was able to keep reading it. As for the characters Nikolai and Jane, I can't say enough. I love to see a woman who has her own and take care of herself. Also, Nikolai grovel and love for Jane was beautiful. I have read plenty of second chance romances when the MMC does the worst and doesn't grovel. But Nikolai grovel was 👌🏾. Plus, his path to being better mentally and his struggle with PTSD was done great. I have secondary PTSD and I know the struggles. But I have a motto it's ok to not be ok, but you just have to get the help!
Sorry, I'm not trying to sound like a preacher 🙌🏾.
But another aspect of this book that I loved was Jane and seeing her confidence build. I liked how, from the beginning, she was confident being tall. Also, how confident she was in her body after a while. Sometimes, I don't like when authors always focus on a plus-size FMC body, but it does affect a lot of women. In the end, she was a new person.
This book was good. This is the first book I read in the series, and I hope to read the others. I do recommend others to read it because it touches on hard topics while being sweet!
I love Jane and Nikolai. They were fire together It was angsty, it had groveling, it was epic!
Spoilers Spoilers Spoilers
Nikolai was a dumb teenager in the beginning for breaking Jane’s heart.
What hurt the most is that he refused to say “I Love You” back to Jane but after the shooting, he started throwing it around to all his hookups.
He even had a Vegas Marriage while he was drunk and got it annulled quickly.
I can’t imagine the amount of pain Jane went through with seeing all his hookups and marriage thrown in her face. Especially since the girls were all mostly models and Janie is a curvy girl.
Can I just say that i still think about the scene oh Jane with BOTH Nikolai and Reid!!?? Now that was HOT!!!

Jane and Nikolai are the kind of couple that made my heart hurt while reading. In the best way, though. I felt their individual and connected pain throughout the whole book and I was very much invested on them getting to their HEA. I loved this book so much (obviously, I have become a huge Michae Marie fan over the past six months), but Take What You Want felt different from her previous works the characters felt more real and raw to me.
Also Chapter 30 🥵 Thats all I'm gonna say about that.
I'm so excited for Reids story which is a step sibling romance but is Walker and Scar getting another book???because they were shady af and I am stressed 😫
Jane and Nikolai have a past, they dated in High School. Nobody knows about it, especially not her twin James. Nine years later, they are both single and are considering if they want to explore a romantic relationship with each other. The band has broken up, Nikolai is pursuing a solo career. Jane is an entertainment attorney. So far Hayden and Carter have been my favorite couple, they have been dethroned by Jane and Nikolai. The chemistry between the two of them, also being vulnerable with each other. So good.
I am not usually a fan of second chance romances, but Jane’s and Nicolai’s story of friends to lovers to friends and lovers again really won my heart. I loved Nicolai’s confident grovelling to woo Jane back, which was really so true to his character. Jane broke my heart so many times by her vulnerability and how she was hesitant to trust again. I also loved how the author showed a very realistic overcoming of the issues of the past affecting the romance, and also the friendship bond among the guys (and the ladies), even with all the layers of hurt and pain. A very solid read.
Jane and Nikolai stole my heart!!! I loved this couple and this book so much! There was the perfect amount of flashbacks showing what happened between them in the past while still keeping what was happening in the present make sense. I was a little thrown by the scene with Reid, but I cant say I am shocked by it. Overall it was a great addition to the Whisper Me Nothings series and I cannot wait to read about Reid!!!!
I think this is my favourite of the series so far. I love an angsty journey to the HEA and Jane and Nikolai had that in spades. Not all second chances work for me, but this one did. It was good to see the flashbacks weren’t overly done. I was fully engaged while reading this book and my eyeballs almost fell out of my head when a certain spicy scene happened. I. Did. Not. See. That. Coming
I loved getting a more in-depth glance into Nikolai’s character and his relationship with Reid. And the romance was adorable! The scene with Nikolai, Reid, and her 🥵. I’m so excited for Reid’s book!
