The Gantz fighters wage invisible war against a series of increasingly bizarre and deadly alien monstrosities, whose source and purpose are a frightening mystery.
And if those challenges weren't enough, a homegrown threat rises, the sleek and stylish weapon-spawning killers known as the Vampires, who aim to bleed out Gantz!
A visually arresting adult science-fiction epic, Hiroya Oku's Gantz is a nonstop nightmare of grotesque horror, bold eroticism, and fierce imagination that sold over 15 million copies in Japan and inspired three feature films and an anime TV series. This value-priced omnibus collection features 680 pages of action and audacity!

He has finished working on his most renowned manga, Gantz, which began in July 2000. His manga often contain explicit violence and gore, as well as sexual situations.
He won the second prize of the Youth Manga Awards in 1988, under the penname Yahiro Kuon.
He designed a character for Namco Bandai's Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 fighting game, Soulcalibur IV named Shura.
I am all-in on Gantz. The three volumes in this omnibus see a marked character journey for our primary protagonist as love reels its head and gives them a reason to truly live and indeed conquer Gantz? Meanwhile prehistoric monsters, fantasy monster and deadliest of all human monsters await our players over these missions. The delightful black and white art with added-in sound effects works perfectly for this series. I can see why I've read about so many readers just steam rolling through this series, it is so compelling as much as it is a mystery that know no end. So much creativity is involved to keep each round of Gantz so fresh! Another 8 out of 12 read, Four Star read. 2024 read
OMG! This volume is full-bore action and shocks. The big reveal in the middle is sort of bad and silly -- -- but the twists at the very end have me so grateful I've the next volume on hand right now.
The mix use of creatures in this volume was absolutely my favorite. I wish we had a little more on the big dark knight character but what we had was pretty cool. I also enjoyed the use of the vampires and the stakes when people who don’t like each other for very good reason spawn in together.
yea this shit is pretty fucked like making kei kill his girlfriend and all the other people basically fight to the death is insane BUT izumi is coming around as a good anti hero of sorts. also the vampire shit is just kinda stupid so far like it’s interesting sure but why tf are there vampires and why is keis brother just randomly one of them lol. still great art and still such a fun read :P

I've reached the end of what my library has on Hoopla, and now I'm stuck. Damn you, Hoopla, or the library, or whoever. How can you do this to meeeeeeee!?
I'm taking this as a personal attack. Someone tricked me into being interested in a series, reading a few THOUSAND pages of it, then pulled the rug out from under me. Which, you know, I should've learned not to stand on rugs because this keeps happening, but they always look so plushy and perfect for standing on, especially when there's writing woven into them that says, "Pete: Stand here for a big surprise!"
When that happens, I should REALLY know that rug is about to be pulled out from under me, or maybe something heavy is going to fall on my head, or maybe I'm about to get hit in the face with a pie, which is actually okay because after a pie hits you in the face, nobody else wants to eat it, so you get to eat like 90% of a pie by yourself. And man do people hate it when you sit there talking about how delicious this pie is, and thanks for putting so much of it straight into my mouth, which was open because I was reading that "Pete: Stand here" thing out loud because I always read stuff like that out loud. Nothing ruins hitting me in the face with a pie more than me enjoying that pie.
Just another great piece of artwork. Not just the drawings but the story and the characters themselves. The mystery behind Gantz, the thing with the brother now? I just absolutely love how original and at times insane this story is. Im so glad I decided to give this a shot as its becoming one of my favorite things to read. Not just to goon, lol, nah but seriously its just an amazingly thought out story and again so original in so many ways, I love it and cant wait for the next omnibus.
Kurono finally shows signs of actually having something of a heart in this volume, and the ending to the dinosaur arc is pretty cool. Vampires are, for some reason, introduced in this one, and it looks like Oku gave up on drawing nudes at the beginning of chapters at this point. Gantz continues to be a bizarre, messy, and problematic story but it’s also insane.
The series "Gantz" is getting darker and unexpected things are happening! Hiroya Oku sure has a way of making you need to go to the next book in the series just to find out what things will happen next. He always ends on a cliffhanger. On to the next omnibus... #6
""Gantz continues to be a bizarre, messy, and problematic story but it’s also insane.""
An improvement over the prior volume. Izumi is over powered and annoying. He is not a compelling antagonist or foil for Kurano. The vampires that arrive in this volume who recruit Akira, Kurano’s younger brother, are a refreshing change of pace and intriguing adversaries.
This one might be one of the better volumes of the manga, however I don’t think in a fan of the vampires, as the dynamic they add doesn’t feel very Gantz, but more like they’ve been added for shock value.
