One of the most exciting and talented creators working in comics today, Sophie Campbell has made her mark on IDW books such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jem and the Holograms.

A graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design, Campbell began her career writing and drawing independent comics primarily focused on the lives of young women from all walks of life, including Wet Moon, Shadoweyes, and the Abandoned. She further proved her versatility as an artist when she began drawing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for IDW, where her kinetic action sequences and distinctive character art were a hit with fans and critics alike.

Campbell was brought on as the first artist on the IDW continuing series Jem and the Holograms, where she was responsible for the modern redesign of the characters and establishing the unique look of the comic. Her work on Jem with writer Kelly Thompson was so well received that the two were profiled by the New Yorker in 2015.

Campbell continues to work on several projects for IDW, as well as her own creator-owned independent comics.

I think Campbell does something really special with the turtles in her 50ish issues. I love the growing pains they go through, the anguish the maneuver. It all feels smart and new and fresh, and coming into a series 100 issues in and doing that is no small feat.

I am saddened that this final arc just didn't really do a ton for me, and I think I would have much preferred and smaller scale return to form to cap things and introduce the next ideas. But it was still a fun read, and there are plenty of wonderful moments scattered throughout. While Campbell's run might not have hit any of the highs that Waltz's had, it was insanely consistent. Almost every issue from 101 to 140 is great, and even when it dips down a bit in this final arc, it's still good.

This goes off the rails a bit at the end with the time traveling and alternate timeline characters but still an enjoyable ending to an epic 18 volume run. Will be a good re read all the way from volume 1 again one day

After many years of buying first the single issues and then switching to these absolutely gorgeous hardback editions I've finally completed IDW's take on the Ninja Turtles.

Given that this was the final book with a lot to tie up I wasn't surprised that it's a huge book. What did surprise me was how much wasn't about the finale itself.

The Armageddon Games are finished, everything comes to a satisfactory conclusion. And then IDW answers a question I've never asked. What do the heroes do AFTER the giant Earth threatening event. And what we're treated to is a very long epilogue that becomes so far removed from how the series started that at times it's hard to recognise it as the same book. There's some things that lead back to previous events, one secret that we were never privy to is finally revealed (I was beginning to think nothing would come of it), and at least one other that doesn't come to pass that I was looking forward to.

And then after everything Turtles is finished with the book ends with a 5 part mini revolving around the Foot Clan which I didn't hate but didn't love either. It also didn't give a definitive ending so I'm wondering if there's more to come at some point.

This series has provided so many highs that an ending was always going to be difficult to produce. For the turtles it did but with everything else it felt like it's still all up in the air. Oh and I wasn't a fan of the end of Donnie's character arc at all

Issue 150 hit me so hard. The culmination of years of my life wrapped into one beautifully bittersweet conclusion.

It was the longest volume by far & I still finished the whole thing in just over 24 hours. I had to know how it ended!

There were two things that keeps this from retuning to the five star form of the Tom Waltz run:

1. Oddly enough—and I can’t believe I’m saying it—the Waltz issues were the worst part of this entry.

The Armageddon Game was teased for a couple dozen issues as this grand chess game with multiple villains & it ended up being a one-issue long battle. I found it disappointing.

2. After the incredible issue that ended the main storyline, I was left with a five issue mini series. It wasn’t bad, but it lessened the emotional impact of seeing the story end the way 150 closed it all up.

The final 13 issues of the main run were with the ride of admission. This is still the definitive version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The end of an era. I feel like it fell off the last few volumes but I still enjoyed it overall.

A BIG step up from the last couple of entries. I was under the impression that Vol. 18 was going to be the last of the series, but it ends on a cliffhanger, so I’m hoping we’ll see a Vol. 19!
