Hello,

My name is Lexi Lewis. Reading many romance novels is what eventually got me into writing them myself.
As a teenager, I would constantly go to the library or bookstore and pick up romance novels. While I did enjoy them very much, I noticed that most of the women in these covers and stories where not like me. You see, I'm a an African American woman with curves. Besides perfect looks, these characters I read as a teenager seemed to have perfect lives. Therefore, I was having a hard time relating to the characters in these stories.

I started writing Fantasy and Multicultural Romance stories because I wanted to represent woman of color and give them great romantic stories that they could indulge in and relate to. Love comes in all sizes and colors, so should the women in romance novels.

After some trouble with this book when I downloaded it from Amazon, I actually contacted the author(Lexi Lewis) to let her know about the problems with the book. She was kind enough to respond and also send me a pdf copy of the book for my troubles. She did ask for an honest review so here goes.....

Karic and Camille were both interesting and I liked how Ms. Lewis wrote from each of their perspectives as the book began. It helped to get to know the characters so to speak. I kept reading because I wanted to find out if Camille got caught by the people she was running from and what would happen to her. I wanted to find out exactly what "bad" things her pride was doing.

I feel that Karic was slightly under-developed, I think his being a lone wolf wasn't really as developed as well as Camille's issues. He left because he didn't agree with his family and it was that simple. That made him slightly lame in my eyes, but still a good guy. Also, I think the climax/confrontation was a little secretive to the readers. After Camille saying he made her do bad things multiple times and then there was really nothing but Paul being mean and threating people and then a small fight and then a rescue from police.

I gave the book 3 stars because I think it had good bones but could have been better developed by filling in a couple of blanks that could/would have drawn the reader into the story or helped them indentify with the characters more.

I enjoyed this book and it was a pleasant way to spend a bit of time this afternoon. The MCs, Karic and Camilla, are both very likable and the author did a good job introducing them and their situations. It was a bit of a different take on the shifter/human theme in that humans know about shifters.

It is a very short story, so there isn't a lot of world building, but I certainly wouldn't mind reading other stories set in it. There is nothing too dark or angsty and the happy ending really is happy. If you only have a short window to read in, this is a story that is going to satisfy you and leave you feeling good. If it had been longer with more character building and a bit more action, I would have given it 4 stars for sure. I'm definitely going to go see what else this author has available.

I really liked the story. I was seriously ticked off by the lack of editing. I am quickly losing patience with people who either don't edit or pick sloppy editors. If not for the editing issue this could have gotten a 4 star rating.

I love books about shape shifters....I have a passion for lions and werewolf. To think a hold town full of different shifters that live among humans in harmony. Where everyone was held up to the same laws and treated equal.

A light romantic shifter read. Storyline was interesting but didn't have the usually hot scenes. Karic and Camilla have sweet chemistry and interaction. For me it was just an okay read. Loved the book cover.
