Hubert Wilkins is one of the unsung heroes of history. A war hero, photographer, reporter, prolific writer, spy, scientist, naturalist, ornithologist & aviator, South Australian-born Wilkins was the most remarkable explorer of the 20th century. This biography details his exploits.
Simon Nasht is one of Australia’s most experienced history documentary filmmakers. He is a former political reporter and foreign correspondent for The Age and the ABC.
He is a regular contributor to ABC Radio National, The Australian, Sunday Age and other newspapers.
Currently, he is a producer at Real Pictures, and previously co-producer at Essential Media, partner at Gabriel Films New York and joint MD at Pilot Productions.
I may be biased because Hubert Wilkins was my first cousin twice removed, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. I have listened to Simon Nasht speak and the book embellished his talk. The information has been well researched and is as accurate as it can be. Old accounts of Hubert's life that I have read contained some more fanciful exploits, which I would love to be true, but probably aren't. Simon Nasht has provided enough detailed information for this book to be made into a wonderful movie about one of the greatest achievers that Australia has ever produced.
