If You’re Struggling to Say Goodbye, This Book Offers Comfort in the Hardest Moments.Losing a pet feels like losing a part of yourself. They weren’t just animals—they were companions, confidants, and family members who filled your days with love and routine. Their absence creates an empty space where joy once lived, leaving behind quiet moments that feel too still and a loneliness that can be hard to explain.
Grieving a pet is a deeply personal journey, often layered with a mix of emotions like sadness, guilt, and even anger. You may feel guilty for not doing more or regretful over the things left undone. Memories can bring both tears and smiles, as the pain of their absence clashes with the joy they brought.

A very a compassionate and well written book from a pet owner’s perspective. For me personally, I thought it was important to read a book from a place of understanding of losing a dear pet. The subjects were sensitive and thoughtful. I also liked how the author started with a small story of his esteemed dog, Max, before each chapter that related to that particular chapter. His heartfelt stories felt genuine and were so relatable. My heart ached as I followed the author’s stories and his journey too, of losing a furry best friend. It’s been two months since our beloved black cat, Maurice, passed away and this book gave me hope that I will be okay eventually, and that it’s ok not to be right now.
I picked up another book with a similar title before reading this book by Owen Whitmore, and the books couldn’t be more different. There’s really no comparison to Owen’s writing and the warmth this book gave me. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has lost a precious pet/family member and needs support, even if it’s through pages of a book. ❤️
