---
When you stare into the abyss, it’s unsurprising that the abyss stares back. It’s a reflection, not the enemy.

In the dark depths of the Vale, Nyssa’s world is one of monsters and mischief, shadows and secrets.

Tannen, an elf from the frosted realm of the Northshire, can't help but become entangled in Nyssa’s web.
When the mesmerizing ghoul offers him a unique and dangerous deal—to return what was stolen in exchange for his deepest fears—he is drawn to a place where the line between pleasure, pain, light, and shadow blurs.

Some desires consume you. Others can destroy you.
In this tale of twisted and blackened fantasies, the darkness they embrace may devour them both.

Eclipse of Frost and Fiends is a haunting, dark fantasy romance. A tale of trust, vulnerability, and an understanding that transcends above all else.

Delicious.

This book has everything I've been looking for in a fantasy romance holiday read.

Think Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas but instead of being in love with Jack, she journeys to the land of Christmas and falls in love with an elf.

It's romantic, spicy, there's BL00D and gore, intricate lore, lovable side characters and just an all round good time.

5 easy stars.

There he is. Something deep down in that soil of yours. You're full of blood and life, Tannen. You feel everything imaginable.

3/5 4/5 🌶️

This was such a unique read!!! I truly believe that the word unique is one to describe this book. I've never read before something like that! It was an amazing universe to lose yourself into! I loved the Halloween x Christmas theme. It was just so much fun!!! Nyssa (a Frankenstein) and Tannen ( a Christmas elf) had a wild, hot n cold dynamic.

This was so much out of my comfort zone because Dom FMCes aren't usually my jam. But this seemed quite the exception. I don't know if it was because of Nyssa, who was such a free, unbothered and beautiful character or Marlow’s ever evolving writing but this book surely lured me.

And of course not to forget our zombie cat Wren, who was honestly the star of the show!

Did I like it? Yes!
Would I reread it? No.

This spicy Halloween x Christmas story is just what I needed for the holidays. I’m a Halloween girly at heart so give me all the holiday creepiness! I adored how this has a whisper of Nightmare before Christmas themes intertwined throughout the story. The story and plot held my attention and the circumstances leading to the character's intimacy made sense and was believable for me. I really admired Marlow’s twist on the North Pole. I need to also mention how obsessed I am with Nyssa’s familiar Wren. Her zombified black cat 🥹
I would love to see Marlow dive deeper into more of these fantastical lands because this was so entertaining! I had so much fun reading it!

Nyssa gave me bad B*|ch vibes and I loved her character so much. She knows what she wants and takes it. Tannen is a sweetie who’s just bored with his millennia spent doing the mundane in the north. Together they conjure something new and exciting and find comfort and adoration in their differences.

This was fun- a twist on Nightmare Before Christmas- except Sally falls for an elf from Christmasland and Ms Claus is the evil one. The writing was a bit flowery and it needed more world building- lots of unanswered questions at the end.

Love a Marlow Locker book. The vibe of this book was completely different (love) but can’t in good conscience give it five stars when it was basically just smut

This is a fun Nightmare before Christmas fantasy. A sexy Ghoul steals a ball of joy from the elves, and one elf tries to get it back. The story is not what I expected and turned into a war! I think my favorite part was the battle scene. Oh wait....anytime Qren was in a scene, too! I loved the cat familar, which just made me want to go snuggle my kitty. Marlow entwined her dominating spice and beautiful poetic words of creating quite a world. I just love the way she describes the inner turmoil these characters experience. This was a fun Halloween or Christmas read. I definitely missed Marlow's writing.

"His shoulder blades should house wings, his form fucking angelic."

"The artist’s mind is only as good as what it’s consumed. We’re a creation of our consumption. Our thoughts are like the river of lights that run high above the North, creating beautiful colors… but to create colors, you need light. And I am trapped, starved of inspiration. Inside the globe is a mess; mismatched, with poor composition."

Okay, buckle up, because this book took me on a ride. I’m talking sleigh bells jingling through a frosted forest, only to crash straight into the haunted depths of a shadowy, monster-filled abyss. And I loved every second of it.

First, can we talk about Nyssa? This ghoul is the moment. She’s got secrets, shadows, and that whole “mischievous yet magnetic” vibe that makes you question all your life choices. And then there’s Tannen. Sweet, frosty, elfy Tannen, who waltzes in from Northshire with his pristine, winter wonderland energy, only to get absolutely wrecked (in the best way possible) by Nyssa’s dangerous deal. Honestly, his "deepest fears" should have been that he’d fall head-over-pointy-ears for her, but alas, poor guy didn’t stand a chance.

The chemistry? SCORCHING. Like, how does something set in a freezing realm manage to be so hot? One moment they’re exchanging barbed words and loaded glances, the next I’m fanning myself because wow. (Side note: the open door spice is no joke—Marlow Locker doesn’t hold back, and I am eternally grateful for it.)

And let me tell you, this story doesn’t just flirt with darkness—it takes it out for drinks and dares it to dance on the table. The mix of Halloween spookiness and Christmas magic is just chef’s kiss. One minute I’m picturing pumpkin patches and eerie fog, the next I’m in a glittering snowy wonderland, wondering if my Kindle’s about to freeze over.

But don’t be fooled—this isn’t all candy canes and cobwebs. There’s a deeper story here, about trust and vulnerability and embracing the parts of yourself you’re scared of. And yes, sometimes those parts are a little monstrous.

In short: I laughed, I cried (okay, maybe just teared up dramatically), and I’m now convinced I need my own elf-meets-ghoul romance ASAP. If you like your love stories with a side of shadows, a sprinkle of snow, and a lot of spice, this book is your next obsession.

10/10 recommend, and I’m now planning a Nyssa and Tannen-themed holiday party. Would they approve? Probably not. But hey, I’m doing it anyway.

🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book was much anticipated and it was absolutely unputdownable. So strap in or on.. for a chunky yap about how much I love this.

It combines many of our favourite things hot people doing hot things 💅🏻, spooky shenanigans and some delicious pining,

Nyssa is the goth GF we all dream of. she’s sexy, she’s smart and she’s got a big heart behind that aloof facade. I loved her character growth throughout the book we really get to see the core of her by the end of the story and it’s amazing. And like most of the spooky ghouls I know she has a companion to spend the centuries with whose character inspirations are so fitting and fun to piece together.

Tannen is the sweet and melancholy elf captivated by Nyssa’s existence, he’s observant, intelligent and conscientious by nature and i love how he grows from being somewhat apathetic to his situation to growing in bravery and exploring who he is as an individual.

The individual worlds feel tangible and fleshed out for the most part, definitely would have been interested in knowing a little more about north but can appreciate that in doing so it may have been a little info dumpy the vale feels living and breathing despite the “monsters” being somewhat undead this was likely intentional and I recommend reading the book to find out why that is 😉

The intimate scenes are just that they feel intimate and help our leads to find ways to explore their trust and vulnerability with each other, as well as chase their own desires.

This story explores many things, challenging one’s belief system and leader, found family, aspects of grief and workplace abuse as well as aspects of BDSM among other things that can be found in the authors note at the front of the book.

Highly recommend you pick this up and give it a whirl as it is a wonderful story and a great read.

Arc Review - I've said it before and I'll say it yet again if Marlow writes it, I will read it!!!

Marlow knows how to write characters who have so much depth and emotion to them and Nyssa and Tannen are exactly that! I love them so much!

I can perfectly picture this book, the descriptions are so clear and it's like watching a movie, I can see The Vale and The Northstar Shire so clearly! Nyssa sounds terrifyingly beautiful and haunting, she could ruin my life and I'd be happy for her to do so.

The world building and the magic system was so intriguing because of that I couldn't put this book down. I just wanted to keep reading and find out what was going to happen. The final few chapters had me gripped and I was so amazed that I didn't see the twist coming until it almost slapped me in the face!

Another wonderful book from Marlow and I can't wait to see what future adventures her writing takes me on!

I loved this. Marlow is an auto read author for me and this book demonstrates why in a lot of ways. Here’s the thing, Marlow creates worlds that you can play in. These worlds are interesting, unique, and immersive and it’s one of my favorite things about their books. Eclipse of Frost and Friends is a fantastic example of taking the idea of something (Nightmare Before Christmas vibes) and creating a whole world with characters that live and breathe in it moving it beyond that initial nugget. I loved the dynamic in this book and I would die for Tannen. Who knew soft artistic elves were it? Marlow did. That’s for sure.

If you like Halloween or Christmas, read this book. If you like soft artistic elf meets dominant ghoul, read this book. If you haven’t read Marlow, what are you waiting for?!

I think the things I enjoy most about Marlow's writing is the uniqueness of characters and settings. This book was definitely a great example of that. I love a good alpha FMC and we don't see that very often. Which is totally okay but also, come on, we need a woman in control sometimes (*cough* if not all the time).

The world in this book was unique in the sense that there was almost a physical barrier between holidays. I don't know how to describe it but that is why I am not the author here lol. The divide between the two was interesting and it led to this physical barrier separating the two MCs and them having to go through great lengths to just be in the same vicinity as the other.

Overall, I really loved this Halloween/Christmas mashup and even though the holidays are over this book can be enjoyed any time of the year if you like a strong dominant female that can put a nerdy little elf on his knees. I mean really that sounds like a year-round interest for me.

Thank you to Marlow for an ARC of this fun Nightmare before Christmas inspired story!

Nyssa is a ghoul from the Vale who, after making a bet with a friend, travels through the crossroads of realms and into the snow-covered land of elves to steal Joy. While there, she meets Tannen, a soft, artsy elf boy and the adventure truly begins.

Tannen doesn't fit the mold of Christmas town and always felt like something was missing until Nyssa and her dominant personality enters his life.

This book is full of excellently written spice , intricate lore, descriptive locations, emotional discovery, and a decent amount of gore as well.

Do yourself a favour and read this one!

❄️ARC Review❄️

It's like a slutty, dirty, nasty, Nightmare Before Christmas, and I'm here for it!

The fact that we have a rotting FMC stealing Christmas cheer from a bunch of Elves (oh and with her dead talking cat no less) is such a vibe.

But let's not forget she has a tail that she *ahem* uses for enjoyment.

(Insert very inexperienced smokin' hot Elf)

I really like the decaying Christmas aspect

Not gonna lie, Mrs. Claus is a b*tch.

This is Santa's little helpers like you've never seen them before! But please make sure you check out the trigger warnings before consumption!

If you love a quick fantasy holiday read with Nightmare Before Christmas vibes, Eclipse of Frost and Friends is the one!
Imagine Sally venturing to Christmas Town and falling for a soft, artistic elf instead of Jack. This book blends romance, spice, blood and gore into an unforgettable tale. Seriously, the dynamic between the characters, especially a certain swoon-worthy elf, will steal your heart.
No matter if you're a fan of Halloween, Christmas, or just something completely different ... Marlow delivers a world that feels alive 🖤

This is my favourite book of the year!

I was lucky enough to get to alpha read this book and I am forever grateful to Marlow for this experience!

Going on the journey of reading this amazing story, I fell so in love with both the characters as well as the entire setting for the book.

Nyssa is a queen, and she can do no wrong.
Tannen is so sweet and sensitive, and he can also do nothing wrong and needs to be protected at all costs.

There is spice, romance, and all those good things, but there's also so many heartwrenching moments and talk about trust and letting go of control, trusting the other person enough that you know you will be safe.

Another thing I love about this book is that there are characters I genuinely hate. Like, fully despise. And that to me is the proof of incredible writing, when you get physical reactions because of words written in a fictional story.

If you want a dark fantasy romance with ghouls and elves, this is THE book for you!

Everything I love in Locker’s books and more, since this is her first foray into a world of magic and monsters. This book is the perfect crossover between the worlds of Christmas and Halloween, but add depth and lore, characters you will love fondly and others you will fiercely hate, Locker’s trademark grit and rawness, wickedly delicious smut, and vulnerability and emotion where you least expect it. Plus that twist is one you won’t see coming. 😌

This is an interesting take on a somewhat familiar storyline. If you enjoy TNBC, you will enjoy this book. It took me a while to get into the story, but once I did, the rest flowed quickly. I liked getting to see two characters from completely different worlds and ideals come together and find love with one another. As a reader, you get to see them grow and develop from their interactions.

This book is surprisingly good. I didn’t expect such a good story between an elf and a ghoul, but OMG, this narrative is really good. The spice scenes, the characters, this is a really good story and I highly recommend it.

I loooved the vibes in this book. It so beautifully captured the autumn and winter vibes/ lands/ characters. There was a tiny sprinkle of Christmas and Halloween, but the seasonal vibes were stronger than the actually holiday presence.
.
I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed that an elf and a ghoul fall for each other. This was fantastic. It was beautiful. And while you might expect it's the elf bringing warmth and joy to a ghoul it is, in fact, the other way around, and that was even better. I also loved that the saucy little elf was just right for this domineering ghoul.
.
The first few chapters are quite exploratory, but they do a good job establishing the setting. The end also left me with some ponderances. Yes, it's an HEA, but how exactly that is going to work out for the long term wasn't left exact. There were hints, and I'm pretty sure I can guess, but at the same time I'm not 100% sure I'm correct. I just had to reassure myself that it ended happy and no, no, yeah, it's gonna be fine in the long run because of the thing (that I won't say because it would be a spoiler).

This isn’t just another fantasy romance. It’s poetry wrapped in darkness, with characters that burn brighter than any flame. The writing is lush, the world-building stunning, and the atmosphere absolutely perfect for fans of gothic, monster, and morally gray love stories.

Think Christmas x Halloween, Nightmare Before Christmas, 'good boy', gritty, twistyyy vibes 🔥

It also made me question my life choices with a narrative surrounding the monotony of living day in, day out in a capitalist 9 to 5 society (but this may have just been me 😅)

With elves, monsters, Mrs Claus, sub x dom dynamic, depth & lore, furry familiars - you should read this book ⭐️
