In this enchanting sapphic retelling of Alice in Wonderland, Alice is an 18-year-old young woman at a crossroads, grappling with the expectations of her Victorian upbringing and the pull of her own identity. When she follows a curious White Rabbit into a magical land, she tumbles into a world unlike anything she’s ever known—a realm of whimsy, riddles, and chaos known as Wonderland.
In this strange land, Alice meets Hattie, the eccentric Mad Hatter. Hattie is a mischievous and enigmatic figure whose sharp wit and playful demeanor challenge Alice's notions of propriety and logic. Together, they navigate Wonderland's unpredictable landscapes, encountering a myriad of familiar bizarre creatures.
As Alice journeys through Wonderland, her bond with Hattie deepens, transforming from a tentative companionship to an exploration of love and self-discovery. Through Hattie’s unorthodox guidance, Alice learns to embrace the chaos around her, questioning societal norms and discovering her true self in a world that thrives on the unexpected.
This tale is a celebration of love, identity, and the courage to break free from convention, woven with the whimsical charm of Lewis Carroll’s original story and a fresh, sapphic twist.
It was a good read. I’ve never seen Alice in Wonderland, so maybe if I had I’d have enjoyed it more? But the writing was done well and was interesting. The characters were fun and so was the world building.
It was from Alice’s POV, written in third person. A sapphic retelling of Alice in Wonderland. Slow Burn. With 3 spicy scenes. 118 pages.
Overall I liked it and I'd probably read through it again. It's an easy and enjoyable read if you like sapphic stories and Wonderland.
This was not so much a retelling for me as it is the first Wonderland book with Alice going through each area with the Mad Hatter written in. I enjoyed the second half of the story a little more than the first half because Alice and Hattie started to grow a little bit. I struggled through the beginning because although Alice is 18 in this story, it felt like she still had a childlike temperament when encountering new circumstances.
I'd be interested to see where this goes if a sequel is ever made to go through the looking glass. Also kudos to having 3 spice scenes in such a short book.

3 stars. Alice and The Mad Hatter (Hattie) romance. This was interesting. I’ve never been big on Alice in Wonderland book or any film adaptations but I went into this one with an open mind. It was good but things that bug me about the original source material was here as well. As for the positives I thought the writing was good and the world building was fun. Alice and Hattie as characters felt bare bones and underdeveloped but I did like the chemistry between them. Also, the ending was anticlimactic but that might’ve been on purpose to set up a sequel. Overall, this was a mixed bag for me but it wasn’t bad or anything.
Pleasantly surprised with this one! The only thing I wish is that it was longer. Other than that I very much enjoyed this one! Cute! And the intimate scenes were very well written. Very poetic and classy
I really enjoyed this book and it’s definitely a good read for if you’re looking for a quick cute read. The only reason I’m giving it three stars is because some of the scenes were inconsistent and repetitive but overall a cute and enjoyable book.
